Android Oreo for Honor note 8? - Huawei Honor Note 8 Questions & Answers

I was searching for news on the note 8 and came across this article
http://androidoreos.info/android-oreo-8-0-update-for-huawei-honor-note-8/
Do you think it's fake? I didn't see anything else on the web saying we will get Android Oreo on our phone

This lists Honor Note 8 as one of the Huawei devices to get the Oreo update. (Near the bottom of the page)
http://www.rootupdate.com/2017/04/names-of-huawei-devices-updating-to-android-8-0-oreo.html

Honor note 8 is most likely getting oreo
Same soc as 6x
Hah i missed that 6x uses 655 lol. Sorry

Android N coming?

With the release of more and more details about Android N, does it seem possible a niche phone like the huawei mate 8 will get it? It seems to focus on performance much like this phone does. Itd make a perfect match which makes me believe that it won't release for us. any thoughts or anyone wanna spread some hopeful words?
looking at the pretty insane update speed for the mate 8 ever since it came out, im actually very positive concerning nougat for our device even the mate 7 finally got marshmallow (albeit with some delay), so the mate 8 should fare even better (meaning a faster adaptation to nougat). im not worried

There is a 6.6 version coming at some point. Probably won't be until next year

what do u mean by that? 6.6? ?

Don't know if it's a mate but this is the type of specs I thought the mate 8 was going to be

aaaaah 6.6 inch display. u just threw the number out there without any context, that was confusing ^^
and btw the linked pics show an honor model, so it cant be a mate...besides, the mate 9 is rumored to be based on a new SOC, they wouldnt reuse the kirin 950 for two subsequent mate generations

If progress goes well for the Kirin 960, EMUI 5.0 (most likely Android N) will come out near the end of 2016 with Mate 9. If Huawei follow its track record with the Mate 7, Mate 8 should receive this major update a few months after the Mate 9 is released, so Mate 8 owners should get Android N somewhere in the first half of 2017.
yep, that sounds about right

Honor 6 and 6+ wont get EMUI 5 - Nougat update

Saw an update from Honor India.
It has been mentioned that Honor 6 and 6+ won't get updated to Nougat.
Source: https://club.hihonor.com/in/techsupport.251/official-emui-5-0-android-n-update.11083
Cant we ask for emui 5 update based on marshmallow?Emui 4 looks so dull compared to the refreshed 5.I mean, why not, even the 2012 xiaomi mi 2 got updated to the latest miui 8(I think based on 5.1.1) .I guess we can make a petition or something to get the older gen devices updated to emui 5,based on marshmallow(that applies to honor 6,6+,4C,4X,probably also mate 7,etc.
Not surprising ...
Our phones doesn't meet the Google requirements for NOUGAT
****ing VULKAN api !!!
You can make a 1 billion signed petition, it's a required api that's not aviable for our Kirin CPU, Huawei can't release official nougat for us ....
Yes, we can make a unoficial ROM ! ... without Android 7 kernel source... lol
Despite Huawei published EMUI 4 source code (very late ... OK), there is only 3 usable custom ROMs for us (Modaco, KangVIP & MIUI) and only one for 6 plus PE-TL10 (outdated Modaco) ... I stopped dreaming about my device support ... I wait my 13th month and bye bye Huawei

F*ck the vulcan api,Honor 7 has the same sh1tty mali-t624mp4 gpu that doesnt support it too but it will get nougat(its officially confirmed!),so its up to huawei(the actual reason is that 6,6+,4c and 4x already got 2 os updates?).For real, lets make a petition with request for emui 5 based on at least marshmallow or complete source(for all devices that are confirmed not to get emui 5 based on 7.0,so we can get as many signatures as possible).I didnt spend 250 euros 3 months ago to get stuck on that ugly ios knockoff emui 4.0 forever.

Whatever they decided is gonna stay same. You can have millions of people in petition. Still they will have some facts supporting their decision. So nothing will change.

What kind of facts?Update to emui 5 based on marshmallow seems right to me,considering that the phone already got 2 main updates. If huawei wants to be truly one of the top brands in the world improving their software support wouldnt be a bad decisison.

Giving VoLTE update itself is not confirmed for Honor 6 and 6+. Then how can we expect EMUI 5 ?
Seems that Huawei is satisfied on what it is currently.

Wait really?I thought VoLTE is confirmed since kirin 920 supports it,also I read somewhere in the indian honor forum than they are working on volte update.
I think they need to make a change at some point.Honor 6 deserves to get emui 5,it was a huuuge step forward from honor 3 and its hardware is still powerful today. Also huawei announced that it wants to surpass apple's share in the phone market in the next 2 years.

VoLTE is supported by processor. But still they are busy with their newer devices. They will consider 6 and 6+ once they get free.
I read on an xda post about nougat not necessarily needing Vulcan api
That's sad...

Yes. But it is not confirmed by Honor.
Honor 7 is also in the same dilemma state of Honor 6 after the latest announcement.
But Honor 6 has completed its 2 years support. So even if they think of giving the update, it will be the last priority.
The solution? It's easy to enter facebook and speak with Honor in your chat and ask if honor6 / 6 + will receive emui 5.0, and wait for your response.

But currently Honor 6 supports the following LTE bands: LTE-FDD Band 1, Band 3, Band 7, Band 20, LTE-TDD Band 38.
The Bands used by Indian Carriers are entirely different. Only one carrier (JIO) supports Band 3 that too not supported in few states.
So for a not so supportive LTE mobile, they won't bring VoLTE as per my knowledge.

Any news on 7.1.1?

Anybody heard any news/rumors on when Honor 8 will get 7.1.1 release? Also, is 7.1.1 EMUI 5.1 or is EMUI 5.1 a separate release?
Axon 7 got its 7.1.1 update last week!
Lol, theirs been nothing from Honor for the US H8 sense January. All that's expected from here is a security patch and that's about it.

I agree. I've seen no signs that Honor has any honor regarding the make believe agreement with XDA (and their customers), but I'd love to be shown how wrong I am ;
Really bad. I bought Honor trusting they will be better at updates. If they don't, then it's to break that trust. OnePlus seems better off now in updates as well (along with Axon 7).
The L-04 is neglected if we are being honest here. The other models got that update to fix the battery issue on Nougat but then we have the L-04 still with a December 1 security update. The others have January...
Still a wonderful phone just that sometimes models get neglected while the others get the updates. However, I hear that they do all their testing in the Chinese forums where a 7.1 build is also.

I have the L14 really like the phone but Nougat and EMUI 5 has been disastrous for my battery life. Huawei communication is completely non-existent and disappointing. I am thinking of going back to MM and hopefully they'll fix the battery life. Unfortunately this has left a bitter taste so my next phone may be something else.
Might as well forget about 7.1.1 and hope it gets 7.1.2 at this point. By the time we get an update there will be Android O.
According to HuaweiEMUI page on Facebook(sorry I can't post url because I'm new to here), EMUI 5.1 won't be offered to honor 8 for now, however Huawei will release an update after June this year which includes fixes and feature enhancements.
Yeah updates for Honor 8 was a big letdown, my last honor device for sure.

So Honor 8 not getting 5.1 or get 5.1 after June? I just need them to solve the terrible battery life on my L14 on B360. This device has been excellent but their "2 year" to upgrades and updates is highly questionable.
To be fair, since honor use their own chip, it will take longer to update. But I'm agree, I expected better from honor, especially after their partnership with xda

Hi @breezyhill
https://www.facebook.com/HuaweiEMUI/
EMUI Unfortunately, EMUI 5.1 will not be offered to devices that have EMUI 5.0, EMUI 4.1 or lower systems for now. Some of the new functions from EMUI 5.1 will be built into a debugged, featured-enhanced version of EMUI 5.0 that will be released after June 2017. Stay tuned.
EMUI Hi all, at present we cannot provide a definite date on the release for your devices. However, the Android N (EMUI 5.0) updates will be available for Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus, P9 Lite, Honor 8, Honor 6X, Nova, and Nova Plus. If your phone is one of these mentioned, rest assured that we are actively developing and testing the N update to ensure the best performance for you. Thank you for your understanding and patience
I recently got the Honor 8, they need to push out the B380 update to USA users, at least give us some security patches.

It's bad that your having to ask for this as it was Honor USA that worked with XDA to promise two years of updates.
U should go onto Honor USA Google+ group to hassle them for your updates.
Remind them that it was then that made this promise

Hi Luis, EMUI 5.1 will not be offered to devices that have EMUI 5.0, EMUI 4.1 or lower systems for now. Here is the official Huawei statement given to journalists:
"Huawei announced today the Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro and Mate 10 Porsche Design with Android Oreo. The company also unveiled that four more devices will get the latest version of the launcher - the Mate 9, the Mate 9 Pro, the P10 and the P10 Plus. The phablets will get the upgrade in “three to four weeks” after the Mate 10 series launches, while the P-series flagships should arrive “in the near future”.
Huawei announced that the devices with EMUI 8.0 will have faster app launching and better power allocation. According to in-house test results, performance improved by 12%.
The user interface will also suggest features based on environment and user interaction, like a suggestion to turn on the blue light filter. EMUI 8.0 will also offer to open notifications in split-screen if the app is compatible with this feature of course.
Sadly, Huawei Mate 9 camera will not get the real-time smart scene recognition, but most of the other AI features should be part of the update.
Most of the changes Huawei made are actually on the inside. The Emotion UI will sport the same basic design with no major changes.
The announcement also mentioned security updates. Top-notch Huawei devices will get patches every month, with mid-tier phones receiving them every two months. The entry-level handsets will be updated once every three months."

I read some where that it was confirmed by Huawei that p10, p10 plus will get android 8.0 but after mate 10 or something like that. So then I guess it's EMIUI 8 for p10 and p10 plus.

There is rumors and there is fact. Emui / Hauwei is talking about only oreo for kirkin 60 and up. Hauwei wants to adapt oreo features and virtual desktop to work with noughat OS. Thats not that cool to do and leave us on nougjat , especially when HONOR low price phones from a few years ago ARE getting factory updates to oreo. Considering us mate 8 owners paid a very pricy price tag to buy mate 8 and also are so called vip customers why don't we get what we deserve. ? Mate 8 can run oreo easily. What is sucks about mate 8 is the crappy video card ... Video card is the reason hauwei is trying to avoid mt8 oreo. Fact . hope it makes sense.
