problems with battery - Lenovo Phab 2 Questions & Answers

I bought this equipment and detected several problems in it. 1 consumes a lot of battery. 2 with several apps open the phone starts working on pauses. 3 the touch does not react to commands 4 constant signal loss in yes two. Anyone else got this?
Enviado desde mi XT1635-02 mediante Tapatalk

The phone signal and the wifi signal sucks. I still have my old BLU phone and I can tell by far that it gets wifi signal and lte signal in places where my phab 2 is in 3g connection and not connected to the wifi network. This started after the last OTA update I think. Battery. For a 4000 mah battery it does drain fast. According to the usage lcd screen and wifi are what eats most of it. Bringing back my old blu phone, bring back my old phone, I also compared and the last about the same going through the same usage, and that one only has 3000 mah. And had GPS on, in the phab 2 the GPS was off. Great phone, great specs, but really, phone and wifi signal. And battery. 3 cons.

Wifi vs lte battery life?

Any one else notice better battery life on lte vs wifi? I'm on 4.4.2 but it has always been like this since I got 4g where I live. On my wifi at home I get about 3 hours screen on time(I even have it set to turn wifi off when screen is off) , vs on 4g I'm getting about 5 to 6 hours screen on time
On lte I get anywhere between 5 to 15Mb down(depending on time of day) and wifi I get about 17Mb down, I know that doesn't matter just saying anyways
Been testing my battery life for weeks and wasn't using wifi when testing lte and vice versa except when the screen was off it would revert to lte, before I got 4g where I am battery life was horrible on 3g. Maybe 2 hours screen on time and my gs4 would get hot
Anyways just seems odd that lte is more efficient than wifi so I don't even use wifi unless Sprint is having network problems.
Thanks for reading my crap lol

Ever since I've gotten reliable LTE at home I never turn on wifi. I only use wifi when I'm in a poor signal building. My battery has never been better since going LTE all the time.
well that baffles me
i thought LTE takes the most juice
i for one always get much longer battery use if im on wifi all day instead of LTE

maybe its based on the signal quality
I get much better battery life on wifi, lte sucks some battery! you're getting 5-6hrs screen time on lte? stock battery? most I saw was a little over 5hrs on mostly wifi
Sent from my S4 using tapatalk
It has to do with your signal strength. A strong LTE signal is much better than a weak Wifi signal. Beyond that, the Wifi DTIM interval can theoretically have an effect on your battery life. If you have a router that allows you to change some advanced settings or are running DD-WRT or Tomato, you can try raising the DTIM interval to maybe 3 or 5m which should improve your Wifi battery life.

Stock battery, guess I got really good 4g signal where I'm at. Sucks cause I'm moving soon tho lol

Ever since they starting attaching the lte unit to the motherboard, the battery life has gotten a lot better. Though signal does effect it, battery is usually better on lte then on wifi.

Cell service a big impact on battery life?

Hey all,
I've had my 6P for about a week now and I love it. That being said I'm extremely jealous of the 4-6 hour SOT's I've been across the internet. I've been averaging 2-3 hours a day. Now that being said I think you could call be a "business power user." By that I mean I'm constantly checking emails, texts, on the phone a decent amount, etc.
Over the past few days I've tried to get better SOT but I still wind up charging my phone around 8pm every night (not bad but I hoped better). What I've tried for better SOT:
Location set to battery saving - not a noticeable difference as its hardly ever used
Battery optimization - didn't seem to matter at all
Disconnect android wear - also unnoticeable
Turn off bluetooth - nada
Turn off ambient - Didn't matter a bit
Which leads me to cell service. Mine sucks. I have ATT and at home and at work are coincidentally two spots with horrible service. Is this the reasoning for my horrible SOT? I'm always on wifi at both locations. Its the only thing I can think of at this point. Any insight?
I attached a pic of my battery stats from today around 3pm EST. Pulled phone off charger around 7:00-7:15am this morning.

Could be the bajillion wakelocks when your screen is off.

Hmm maybe a factory restore is in order then. I cant really think of what else.
Cell service or mobile signal here in the UK does hit the battery but no where near as much on this phone as others ,I work in a particular bad signal area and it used to kill my HTC one M7,but not the N6P.If you bread the battery thread I done tests on just WiFi, WiFi and mobile signal and mobile signal only.On mobile signal only and being at work I still got 4h 50 m with 17% still left on the battery,So although it hit the 6hr plus I was getting on WiFi/mobile or the 7 hr + I got on WiFi only ,it still was great battery stats for mobile only .I have been tracking my stats today for a mix of WiFi and mobile and will post them once I'm down to about 3%

Wow thats impressive. I'm no where near those numbers on cell + wifi. I too have been closely monitoring mine, I think I may have a wakelock issue.
Here's my stays from today off charger 2.00 am nearly 20 hrs off charge ,and again 6h+ on SOT and a mix WiFi and mobile signal with varying degrees of signal quality

Even just comparing our graphics you can see where doze seems to kick in. On mine it seems like things are always in a steady decline.
Yes seems doze is not working as it should on yours,do you use chrome browser,a few reported it was affecting battery,I don't use chrome ,I also have Google now on and listening all the time so I can search when screen off,in WiFi / advanced I have it set never to keep WiFi on during sleep,I have ambient display on and adaptive brightness with screen britness set at about 60%.

Mobile standy battery drain

Hey. I am just curious. I always get big mobile standy battery drain, also during the night time. It is not affected by enabling or disabling location, bluetooth or wifi.
On battery settings - mobile standy is always bigger than screen drain, I think it is very strange. I am using 4G setting on phone, but anyway if I choose 3G, I got same drain. Please take a look into screenshots. I suppose that there is no fix for it, but I cant believe that all of users have same stats on battery also (4G users).
Honestly, it doesn't look too bad. I would say it is about as good as you can get on 4G unless you use Xposed.
From my experience, Moto voice was the culprit. When disabled I get about 4 hrs sot. Once enabled, cell standby drain jumps and sot drops to around 2 hrs.

Moto Voice is not the culprit or cause... The issue is cellular signal strength, and SD808 SOC does not use battery efficiently unless signal strength is excellent, anytime it drops the battery usage increases exponentially. The OP's Mobile Standby drain looks very normal to me.

No worries... Moto Voice CAN cause battery drain, although it isn't common, it just won't show up as mobile standby, that is purely radio usage.

This is why I primarily use 3G and will only occasionally turn on LTE. 3G signal strength is typically better in my area and it helps prevent the extra battery drain. For the most part, since I don't stream much video on mobile data, 3G speeds are more than sufficient for my day to day tasks like email, forum postings, banking, etc.
I kept Moto voice off for some time when I first got the phone because I worried about battery. I decided to give it a try one day and over the course of a couple of weeks I noted the battery drain was negligible despite always listening so I left it on. Any unusual battery drain during standby/sleep I've experienced since then has been due to a rogue app causing wakelocks but it has never been due to Moto voice that I could determine.

Might want to test with LTE on... In many cases LTE uses less battery than 3G in modern SOC's.

Ou. If you are saying that it looks fine for you, then I believe it. I am living in the place where are a lot of base stations nearby, so I suppose phone is always switching between the cells to find the best signal at that moment. Thanks.
I was just worried that Mobile Standy is always in first place, and then I got only 2 hours of SOT.

If I can get Tasker to do the switch LTE on/off via location I will give it a try. At work I usually get decent enough signal to get data and phone calls on 3G all day but LTE is extremely weak and drops regularly back to 3G so the switching back and forth between bands is murder on the battery and data consistency.
UPDATE: Gave a shot to running LTE on for a few days. Thanks @acejavelin. While my battery life is not really noticeably better, it is not worse either so I can enjoy the greater speed. I just have to manually switch to/from 3G when arriving and leaving work, but I can deal with it.

Screen on time

It's amazing how much we actually use our phones in a given day, especially when we watch "videos"! Rate this thread to express how many hours of screen-on time you can get on the Huawei Mate 20 before depleting the battery.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
No Wi-Fi.. Only Cellular Data. Can hit 7h SOT really impress..
Let's see how long can it maintain excellent battery life.. Sorry for the other post..
Data always on since no wifi. Manage to get 7-8 hours sot.
I think I've got exceptionally good battery life, I'm happy so far!
30h after last charge
+4h SOT
Still +50% left
2x SIM Dual LTE, VoLTE and WIFI Calling on
6x GMAIL, 2x IMAP, over 50 Apps, anything on (Bluetooth, GPS, WIFI..)
Really really good! Sometimes I get over 10h SOT but never under 8h after 2 full days.
Battery life is one of the main reasons I switched from the Pro and X to this. 4000mah, compared to 4200mah and 5000mah of the other two, has however the best battery life. This LCD screen consumes much less battery. I have been using the phone 90% under 4G with auto brightness today, and I'm amazed to see the result. I don't get this SOT on the Pro and X even under WIFI, let alone under 4G.
amazing!
75% on wifi
Fantastic

3h SOT
50% left
2x SIM (both 4G)
Bluetooth, GPS and WIFI all the time on
50% WIFI 50% LTE
This phone is sick! It is almost a Redmi Note with powerfull hardware. It's hot here but display is on auto, anything is on, few min. calling, lil bit Spotify, few min. Youtube, a lot WhatsApp...
Anytime I get 6h with no WIFI
With WIFI I get +8h SOT
This is one of the real "working phones". My OP7 can also hit 8h SOT but after 1 day, WIFI and Youtube. Without video and mobile data is hard to get 5h SOT.

Hello,
If there is any Mate 20 owner here, two questions:
- did you get EMUI 10.1.x update?
- how is the SOT time after passing to Android 10 ?

OnePlus 7t pro Mclaren 5G battery drain

Hello all! Recently purchased a OnePlus 7t pro Mclaren 5g from T-Mobile. Everything seems great but the battery life has been terrible. I've even reset the phone to start from scratch with apps but same results. Today, I tried shutting off the 5G and limiting signal to LTE and that has improved the battery life significantly. I see a few people have reported similar issues. My greatest concern is that with waiting for an update from T-Mobile, since it is carrier released, I may get stuck with this phone and 5G is pointless. Thoughts?

Yes. I noticed the same thing. Very odd for a 4000mah battery! I haven't rooted yet, so I haven't messed with anything yet really. However, greenify made a night and day difference. Now it's better. But of course, with root you can get very good battery life. My old phone, for example, is a pixel 2 XL. And I haven't used it much since I got the OnePlus, but even in standby mostly it's at 74% right now. Hasn't been charged since Sunday night.

Also came from the Pixel 2XL. Didn't root that one bc I never felt like I needed to with constant OTAs. Now I am not sure what's up with this phone... I'll try greenify and see.
battery is really bad on this phone. Coming from iPhone XS and Note 9, this phone seems like dead by end of day.
One thing I can't understand is why battery apps are showing 3300mAh. while specs for phone says 4086mAh.
I tried with two battery apps both showing 3300mAh
Definitely noticed a much bigger drain than the 7 Pro I had

Yeah I see the same thing. I checked with a bunch of apps and all of them report 3300mAh. Except for CPU-Z...which reports 3520mAh. And that's still wrong. Hmmmm...maybe the function these apps use to check needs updating.
Hi all, I'm seeing horrible battery life as well. No social media usage just forums and reddit stuff. I'll try to limit it to 4glte and add greenify to see if that helps.
Thanks

Yeah, greenify helps. But it's still pretty bad for a phone with this battery size. Trying to figure out what's causing it.

I'm doing the same. No 5G use seems to help but I'm still not getting much better than 2 1/2 hr screen time. I've tried turning off RAM boost today
same here man, im waiting for january to get my sim code so i can root it and go from there, battery has been horrible but from what i see i get more battery on screen time than screen off
I too am getting horrible battery life and the same 3300mAh being reported by battery apps. I manually set the capacity to 4085 and now the app is saying the battery life capacity is at 91%... on a new phone! lol Really hope it's a bug and that it'll be fixed
I've been seeing the same thing on my end.. Keep in mind that when you have the band selection set to 5g (see screenshot) you will see increased battery drain since it's always searching for that battery draining slow ass 5g signal. If you are on 5g, you will also see increased battery drain (think back to when LTE first launched.) Personally, I keep mine on LTE until they increase the signal and tower upgrades/build outs so my phone isn't floating onto 5g for a mile then back on LTE. And before anyone brings up the fact that Tmos 5G is technically a higher band LTE signal, I'm well aware ?
My concern is not my drainage during the day, it's when I had it off the charger last night with WiFi on and it drained about 10-15% over 6 hours . Granted I had it on the higher frequency of my WiFi. So will that frequency drain it fast? Should I switch to 2.4 when sleeping of it's not charging?

No. It doesn't matter what frequency you're on. My pixel 2 XL would be connected to the 5ghz band, and would probably not even lose 1% over 6 hours in standby.
