This is the only thing that worked for me on Galaxy Note 8. And to be honest, I prefer disabling unwanted bands than locking to a single band anyways! Thanks a stack mate

[Q] [N9002] Galaxy Note 3 Duos Enable LTE Band 4 from Service Menu, Does this work??

Hi All,
I stumbled across this as I am currently not in the US to test this out. Could someone see if this actually works? It supposedly enables the LTE band 4 on this phone even though specs say that there's not LTE on it. I was hoping it would be there as it has the same hardware as the N9005.
According to the Service Mode on the N9002, you can enable VZW LTE Band 4. I believe T-Mobile also uses this band for their LTE. I enabled it for me, but I am currently in an area that I can't test it. I posted screenshots of the Service Mode, and a video capture going into the menu.
How to enter service mode:
1. At phone dialer, dial *#0011#.
2. At the service mode, hit the menu key, and select back. It looks like it did nothing, but go to the next step.
3. Hit the menu key again and select "Key Input" and type "Q". It looks like it did nothing, but go to the next step.
4. Hit the menu key again and select "Key Input" and type "0000" (zeros).
5. Wait until you see "Main Menu"
6. Select [3] LTE
7. Select [2] LTE RF
8. Select [1] VZW LTE B4 on/off
9. Select B4 Enable(). It should now have an asterik in the parenthesis.
10. Reboot phone.
Here's a screen capture on how to enable it.

If anyone can confirm this works, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks.

I tried this on the N9002; Dual Sim variant.
If you have a different version, this might be better for you as I didn't have a custom kernel for mine.

I just ran the process and my phone rebooted without problems (N9005). Now, I just have to get an LTE sim card for a network that runs on those bands (I'll try to do it on this weekend and confirm if it worked).

We have the same phone, sorry I didn't mention that. I'm running a custom rom, witch I guess is only an advantage... But you enabled lte band 4 and in Sweden my carrier has band 3. I checked the other "how to" but it seems a little bit complicated and I'm a little bit worried about messing things up.

It should be fine. I've done it a couple of times and it rebooted fine and connected to the area cell signals, just the area i'm currently in doesn't have any LTE.

I tried here in mexico. Telcel ,Movistar, and Nextel both use band 4 for LTE. Did not connect, only H+, but also there is no menu option to switch to lte only wcdma and gsm.

I don't have a way to try it right now(my n9002 is at a repair shop atm), but would you mind trying this? the article says to modify the /data/property/ persist.radio.lteon file to "true" and “LTE/WCDMA/GSM (auto connect)” should show up as a selection of network preference. Can you let me know what your results are when you try it?
//smokeys.wordpress.com/2014/04/06/how-to-enable-lte4g-on-samsung-galaxy-note-3-sm-n9005/
Sorry for the long wait, wife had phone. The file was already set to true. No lte option in Network Mode menu.
Thanks for trying. I realized that my bootloader is locked so I can't flash a permissive kernel. I think that would've been able to do it I think... oh well
My SM-N9005 was crahed 4G/LTE when i test that... even if I disable, my 4G not working now
How I can deblock that ?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=59934217&postcount=1
OT
I try this and I still have only 3G/H+ on n9002.
Probably Samsung does not include LTE Modem

I did all your steps. But in RRC (Service mode, main page) i'm still see "RRC: IDLE, Band5" and i don't connect to band4. I checked and that band is activated.
Why?

How to force VZW E4 (post-unlock) to use GSM/WCDMA/TD

Hello,
I am trying to check how i can have the phone force all bands and not just LTE only. My phone after i unlocked it works great on t-mobile, However, i have to always go back
and change the radio to TDSCDMA/GSM/WCDMA etc so i can get LTE and voice. It defaults to LTE only. Anyone know how to clear this or force on one band ?
Thanks

Lte Band Locking (Network Signal Guru not working)

Hi everyone,
Network signal guru is not working on rooted Oneplus 5. It shows the details and all but i wanted to use its Lte Band Locking functionality. However Lte band option is not visible in the options list.
or else if anyone could point to the correct secret menu code for this phone for native lte band selection?
or some other app which can force lock onto specific lte bands on this phone?
Thanks

lock to a particular 4GLTE band #noroot

Hey guys. Can any one tell how to select a paricular LTE band (3 or 5 or 40) in asus zenphone max pro without root. Any secret code for that? Dont confuse band selection with network mode selection (2g/3g/4g). I saw solution for rooted phone. But i dnt want to root.

Can not be done without root - I am actually trying to discover exactly at what level band locking is done from so I can develop an app just for band locking on Qualcomm chips.
I do know that root is required because we have to interface with the chipset and access phone state as well as RIL manipulation and I think even the network constants.
I am very new to programming but have scoured the code for hours and hours and have a pretty good idea how the modem and os communicate in relation to frequency bands.
NSG is the only app that currently can lock a specific frequency.
You may be able to do it with qxdm. I used it to add lte lte bands on my old lg g2 so you should be able to lock an lte band. Just be careful while using it as u may overwrite/delete important nv values. Google for more details.

I use nsg for more than a year... And it's doing band locking job perfectly
I use NSG but it doesn't work flawlessly, it perfectly locks on band 3 and band 5 but can't lock band 40 on this device, all enforcing is cleared after some time after locking it to band 40. It is irritating because band 40 gives the best speed in jio.
Does anyone have any idea how to lock band 40 perfectly?

Unlock Bands is already possible

I have a ta-1083 with bands b7 and b28 blocked, I've searched in several places on google and still could not find something that can release these bands,
Has anyone with this problem been able to solve this problem?
I like the device, but it's already boring with this situation
Thank you all
No way. It's not going to happen. Quit wasting your time and buy another phone that has the bands you need.
Thanks for the answer, and this is very sad to read
6.1 plus supports all the bands. You can use this code *#*#4636#*#* to change bands and it works.

Yes, it runs on 4g, but in bands like b5 and b3, but these are not standard here in Brazil, the network with the largest coverage is b7 that runs at 2600mhz,
So it fluctuates a lot between bands and often loses the signal altogether
I've changed a lot in these settings, but it doesn't solve 100%

No, you don't know what a band is. You can't use the test menu to add additional LTE bands. Kindly refrain from posting this idiocy here.
I know what is LTE Bands. 6.1 Plus supports all the bands but the fact it is configured in such a way the user can't change it hence the network switches bands automatically.
The LTE Only option configure the network to the 4G but yes you don't have the option to lock a particular frequency unlike other stock Android devices.
I dont know about other countries but here in India I use Jio 4G with 6.1 Plus my phone locks into 850Mhz , 1800Mhz & 2300Mhz (Jio supports it) simultaneously depending upon the conditions in my location.
The Android one might have disabled advanced band locking (FDD & TDD) feature. I'm not talking idiocy here.

You are not talking about the same thing. The OP of this thread wanted to unlock bands that this phone doesn't normally support. We're not talking about "band locking".
Oh yeah this doesn't supports 2600Mhz
