Circular thing on the back of the phone - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

Hello guys!
I have received an Axon 7 ( A2017G ) from a sibling and it has a circular thing glued to the back. I have attached a photo. I think the phone comes from a showroom or something.
Do you guys know if it can be taken off without damaging the back housing or it's part of the housing?
If not, do you know a reliable place where I can buy a back/front housing replacement from? Thanks!

Ultimate Nightmare - XDA2 Cracked LCD

yup, I fell over... which as if that wasn't painful enough, I also happened to crack the LCD on my XDA 2, which has a nice "windscreen effect" of cracked glass, and the added bonus of wrecked liquid crystal oozing out and ruining it completely.
I phoned O2 and they quoted me £160 for the repair job, but I thought it'd be worth a shot to see if there's a cheaper option, self-repair included (although I have the feeling that self-repair is night on impossible when the colours are pooched) anyhow, recommendations much appreciated.
Try www.pdatechcenter.nl
great people, answer the phone, reasonable price
They just repaired mine +++
bought the LCD replacement from a seller on eBay in taiwan, now I need to work out how to remove the black part at the top of the phone (the one with windows mobile on it)
if anyone knows how, since the service manual is a bit vague (and I'm trying it with a very small hex-key) then it'd be appreciated.
I have a just bought a broken Himalya (XDA2/Orange M1000 all the same thing) and I have no need for it. I purchased it on Ebay and the screen is in excellent condition no scratches no dead pixels and is in mint condition. I also have a PDF from HTC on how to open up the device and change it yourself. I bought it for the speaker as the speaker in my XDA2 was rattling..swapped it out and it still rattles on high volume....hence no need for it. I want the money I paid for the phone.
So for all you guys out there with a broken screen I have one.

not necessarily, there are different screens that have been put into the XDA2, so whilst it might be correct for one, it won't necessarily be suitable for another

Don't do that the way as described in service manual in pdf format downloaded somewhere from this server.
Pull the stylus, antenna connector cap and SD out, take a small flat screwdriver and carefuly prise the black cover on this places:
1.Where is the volume slider button
2.on other side below the stylus hole
The cover must easily jump out from the hooks situated below antenna connector and on the other side below the three lines on the cover. Then only pull easily other hooks on the top under the SD slot.
I recommend to put same small paper sheet under this cover when assemblying. That prevents for screech of this part in future.

IT FELL BADLY !! :(

Hey guys,
My prohpet survived a fall from aprox 1,5 M hight.
However, the front cover got damaged (bent) a little so that the device is a litle split open on one side. If the display is on, light is visible from the sides. Now i am scared that raindrops will get inside.
Is it possible to buy a new front cover? how about installing it?
AND, how do I know if something happend to my Prophet? I mean in terms of hardware, it still functions allright, the display is okay too.
Do i have to worry?
If it works it works

I had seen a UK seller for replacement case on Ebay, but cannot find it anymore. However, there are plenty of sellers there for silicone and metal jackets/cases for the Prophet (search as "Neo", the O2 branding).

www.cnn.cn for your Prophet housing. It'll cost you but it is a full OEM housing. It says it is for the Dopod 818Pro but the picture shows a Qtek S200 housing. Either way it will work for any Prophet.

Cingular 8525 housing availablity?

Hi I have a Cingular 8525 and as usual due to my clumsiness I have drop it twice on the cement. Everything's working fine but being a person with a mild case of obsessive compulsive behavior I am buggin......
Also if you guys are looking for a case for your Hermes you should try to avoid this style. My 8525 was securely in this case and the phone 'flew' out of it when it was knocked on the front side of the case. The phone flew out knocking the battery boor, battery, and the sim right out of the phone. Not good! Also, the case uses a magnet for the flap closure so it goes without saying it is sending my phone into periodic landscape mode whenever I remove the phone from the case.
I have tried ebay for a replacement case and unlike all my other phone nothing is available and I mean nothing. Not even one cheesy knock off is on there for this phone.
Has anyone here looked into getting an OEM housing for the 8525?
Personally I would prefer to keep the phone in a 8525 case versus changing it out for other verients.
Sorry for the long post.....I'm sick in bed with a 103 fever so I figure that I would bug u guys
Thanks.
Derek
Looking for same for TyTN

Did you happen to adjust the hinge(simply by bending it inward slightly) before placing your Hermes inside. I have an aluminum case, and I've test dropped it, and nothing happened.
***Please not from the factory, the hinge merely "clips" over/on the other side of the aluminum housing. If you want to make it more stable you have to slightly bend the "lip" that connects to the lower portion of the housing. YMMV. I had to readjust mine once as the first time I had it way too tight, and it was very hard to get my Hermes out of the case. Now it simply closes with an authoritative click, and I know my Hermes is secure.
Anybody find a place to get the housing for an 8525 yet? There is a large (its not that large, but its visible enough to be annoying) gash on the metal bezel running along 3 of the 4 sides of the display of my 8525
im new to the forums, but my 8525 got knocked out of my hand and got pretty messed up. my "t" key has also started to lift off of the pad. i wanted to know if this has happened to anybody and if there is any replacement keyboards for sale also. can i swithc over to the tytn with the proper front keyboard? any help would be amazing.
i just bought a dummy 8525 off of ebay, Im not sure how they are made, but I am going to see if I can switch the housing
please let me know how it works, i was thinking of doing the same thing...

The dummy thing did not work, it isnt an actual housing, only the front buttons work, the rest are fake and do not move, there isnt even a real battery cover, its one piece. That was a waste of $10.99
still really desperate to get a new housing, anyone know where one is available?

Well let me add that I am not the seller. so don't ask me any questions, but this is a seller I have bought housing for my imate jam before...
hrm, sorry about bring up an old thread, but I thought it would be easier than starting a whole new one.
I'm purchasing a used dopod 838 pro sometime this week, and was looking to get a replacement housing for it as it is fairly abused. Would something like the above posted (HTC 8525 case) work well? I notice that, that case doesnt have a powerbutton on the front of the case, will this cause a problem when I go to replace the housing?

There you go guys.. I dropped my phone before christmas, and broke the latch that holds the battery door on, and I had to use some tape for awhile. I must have ordered one of the last Cingular 8525 cases, since all they have is the HTC Hermes black cases with the front camera hole.
That shouldnt be too big of deal to you guys though looking for new cases. It took about a week and a half to get here (FL, USA) from Hong Kong at Christmas time. Very good site..

I use a case with magnetic closure..............I put the device into the case with the screen facing away from the magnet and I have never had any issue with it.

55 bucks and your back in business
I am having the same problem sourcing the correct housing for my phone. I am from the UK and have searched high and low to find a housing for the UK equivalent the SPV M3100 (HERM100 - so the label says).
I have checked all the sites mentioned above, at cnn.cn they dont have the correct housing as the front buttons are different? and the cingular housing is 1: not a nice colour! and 2:L i dont know if this includes the mid plate as well.
Does anyone know where i can get hold of the correct housing(not silver) i dont mind the branding.

How to disassemble without voiding warranty

Hi All.
I just received the faulty part in my Trinity from cnn.cn. it's the keypad panel which doesn't work that well on my device anymore.
http://cnn.cn/shop/p3600dopod-d810-keypad-p-1825.html
Now, I read the excellent tutorial on how to disassemble the Trinity, but I'm worried about the Warranty sticker found on one of the screw hole.
the question is - is there a way to replace this part without unscrewing that specific screw?? Is there any way to avoid voiding my warranty??
thanks in advance

Hello!
I had the same problem with my device. From my point of view dissabamling the phone without breaking the sticker is not possible.

jus slip a very thin blade or knife between the sticker and plastic, keep pushin the sharper egde of the blade between them as centred as possible. without movin the blade up or down. and it wil come off. i easily removed my void label. and put it back. muahahaha.
can you point me to the guide for disassmbly please? I took mine apart but couldn't get the last screen connector cable off.
I'm a bit of an expert at removing tamper resistant stickers, but this one would not play ball.
Usually the trick is to warm them or shear them rather than pull, but this pretty much disintegrated when I looked at it ;-)
Just one point - if it's under warranty why are you fixing a faulty part?

Great, I hope I'll manage to do the same. I actually had the same idea, but was afraid the sticker is too "sticky"

Here's the tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311463
Regarding your question - sending my device which was bought abroad would cost me much more than the piece+shipping (15$), not to mention the entire weeks I'll be without my device. So I think it's worth the "risk"
nope man! the sticker is not sticky at all....even the stickies on this forum are much stickier than the void label
thanks for putting the link up for Dimantos guide! I've been trying to find it for ages.
The part I get stuck at it removing the screen connector (Red arrow).
I just can't work out what to lift up - it seems like something might break.....

Hi my friend.
What you have to lift up (using tool No2) is the black lever so that the cable ribbon can slip out of the plug. What you have to be careful with is not to accidentally cut the cable ribbon.
I hope its clear now.
Best regards!
Nice Tutorial
First of all i'd like to thank for this great tutorial. Just followed it and managed to disassemble trinity without breaking anything.
Just wondering if you guys know where to buy the nuts where the screws fasten on the front cover (those little golden pieces, inside the plastic). Bought a black cover from ebay that doesn't have that, so i cannot fasten the screws to reassemble
Thanks in advance

[Q] Scratch removal

Hi,
after my wife dropped my phone (accidently she swears) I have some small scratches on the phone. (See Picture below)
Someone knows some ACME Cleaner&Scratch remover for that?
Greetings .. seems that I have had the HD2 for the longest time ...
OOO!! Ouch! Looks like it's time to see the phone doctor. Or, if you feel brave enough, you can fix it yourself. They have replacement screens on ebay. Since you have the EU model the contacts for the screen and the digitizer are soldered together. So you have 3 options. 1. Take it to someone else to fix it. 2. Attempt to order just the digitizer and if you have some time and surgical skills solder the contacts yourself or, 3. Get a fully assembled LCD and digitizer that is already soldered together and swap them out. The cheapest would be to just get the digitizer but if you have to factor in the time and headache of soldering those tiny contacts together, I think getting the assembled parts would be my choice. The US T-Mobile model has a small plug-in type connector on it so there is not soldering. I replaced mine and it is quite a chore. You have to be very careful and don't rush it or you will break things. Good luck!
Yeah you've got more than scratches there! You've got a smashed screen
You'll have to replace the glass
the guy above stated pretty much everything you need to know but here's a link to a lcd+digitizer combo that is fairly cheap: http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-LCD-Dis...192999?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item45fdf14d27
I know guys, the scratches where just kidding
The complete replacement has been ordered already, will fix it by myself

That's great. Like I said be very careful in taking it apart. Especially the flex cable that controls the volume rocker. Take your time and you can get it fixed.
Check out this website: http://pocketnow.com/hardware-1/official-htc-hd2-disassembly-assembly-training-videos-leaked
It has some videos on disassembling and assembling the HD2 just so you see what you have to deal with. Also another good investment would be to see if you can get some double sided tape to stick the back of the LCD to main frame if you can't salvage the stuff that's there already. It can't be too thick though because you'll run into problems of getting it put back together. They have that on ebay also.
