LS993ZV7 - Sprint LG G6 Questions & Answers

I received this update, LS993ZV7, but there was no changeling with it and I couldn't find anything at all anywhere about what it was about. Does anyone know what it was? Maybe just a security patch?

Mostly a security update: https://community.sprint.com/t5/LG-G-Series/Software-Update-LG-G6-LS993/td-p/978153
Bug fixes, adjustment to Moisture indicator recurring notice, UICC security enhancements, and the latest Google security patch

A question: may I have the update OTA even if I am in another country? without the sprint sim card?

AT&T June Security Patch

Ever since I updated to the June Security Patch, I've been having a problem with the recents screen. Usually about once a day, it will state that there are no recent apps when I push the recents capacitive button. I have to reboot in order for any apps to appear in the recents screen again.
Anybody else have this problem? And more importantly, does anybody have a solution?
I'm having this problem. Just like you I noticed it after the June patch.

Forgot to mention. I haven't found a solution. I also have no idea how a security patch can affect the software. I haven't factory reset at all but maybe that could help. I also have no idea why this update came in a month late.
Haven't tried a factory reset either. I don't feel like going through that much work to set it up again. At least not yet. Perhaps the next security patch will fix this issue.
AT&T just released the July update.

Nope, phone is rock solid after update.
Granted, it would take a few days to test for the issue you're having.
I noticed that this was more than just a security update. The file was half a gig. Also, there is a new useless AT&T app to set up and transfer settings and information between phones, and WiFi calling in quick settings.
But I also feel like the phone is slightly faster than before. Maybe it's all in my head, but it's really smooth right now.
Read some where that this latest update add wifi calling, can anybody check and see if the option is there? It's G930AUCU2APG1 for the S7, and G935AUCU2APG1 for the S7 Edge)

Yup there's an option for wifi calling in the notification quick toggles.
So does root work ?
For anybody interested, this update seems to have fixed the problem with the recents page.

Well, I am sorry to say that it has happened again. Tapping the recents button shows that there are no recent apps.

I am having a terrible time with this update and looking for help. My original problem was web browser tabs constantly not loading and eventually the browsers would just crash. I used the default internet app, Chrome, Dolphin, UC broswer etc etc every single one had same problem. The phone is also freezing up at times and randomly restarting. So far I have
1. Wiped the cache partition
2. Did numerous factory resets
3. Took the phone to Best Buy and the Samsung tech reflashed my phone
4. I deleted all my synched google data
I am running out of options. I did have it working for about an hour and thought I was in the clear, but I logged into chrome and all the problems started again and I can not fix them this time. (This was the reason I deleted my google backup data). Samsung said to ship the phone to them, but I work maintenance in a nursing home and am call 24-7 most days and can not be without a phone for 2 weeks. I was hoping to either flash with an older version or at least be able to reflash myself with the new update. Any help would be appreciated.
I updated to the July update earlier this week. I'm now seeing issues with recent showing no recent apps, and my battery life is tanking. I used to get to about 30% at the end of the day and now I can't get through the day without charging. Also, Wifi calling is enabled but doesn't work...it says failure to register.

Try factory resetting. If that doesn't work there is a thread with the fw that you can restore to with Odin.

I used Odin to go back to the June patch and phone was working great. Like an idiot I thought well maybe the last time I tried to do the July update something got corrupted so I updated again and went to bed. Try out my phone this morning and back to the same issues I was having. I set the phone up as new as well so I did not transfer / back up apps and what not. For whatever reason my phone is not taking that July update. I do not get it.....

downgrade security level?

I have been searching on here for quite a while and don't find anything related to downgrading the security patches. Is this possible? Where would I go to find it? I have a Verizon S7 Edge. I don't know which Security version is on it yet, but, trying the Real Term method of sending a call to the device is impossible as I have watched several people trying to remove FRP with that method so I thought I would try that to see which security level I am on. I have an AT&T S7 edge that is on June 1 2016 Security and the Real Term method of sending a call works on that one. So, have there been even more security level patches since June 2016, or are there more reasons I can't use Real Term to access the device?
Yes I am a complete noob!!!
Downgrade Security????
It seems like I am always posting in the wrong place. I rarely ever get any replies.
No need for anyone to reply to this, I have figured it out.
My next question is for HARDWARE. I need motherboard diagnosis and rework.
Anyone????

Baseband version G950USQU1AQEF received 6-14-17

Security patch level is still May 1, 2017.
Claims Android Pay added and Bixby improved, also WiFi calling improved.
Try using visual voicemail with this patch, every time I bring phone to ear it stops playing the message.
Edit: this issue is related to samsung pay favorite cards conflict.

This issue existed for prior to this latest update. I thought this update would fix this issue, but haven't had a chance to try. If what you say is true then the issue is not fixed. Do you know of a way to resolve?
Fix for Vvm is a fail tried with this build.

I thought I was going crazy with the VVM issue, hate that I have to use speakerphone to listen to messages.

N950USQU1AQIA Update 9/25

Just got updated to N950USQU1AQIA, looks like the August Security patch. Any word on what else might be in this rollout?
I got it at as well. I didn't see a changelog but it was larger then the other carrier updates I believe it was over 200mb.
Just updated too. Don't know the details though...
Just updated as well.
Noticed my device status went from Official to Custom and then back to Official. WTH?
Probably pretty much what T-Mobile got in their update. Stability improvements and all that.
Mine was already on August security patch before I took the update so definitely wasn't that. It just said performance improvements from what I could see
I noticed I can now log in to best buy without the browser crashing so that's an improvement. I can now delete their crappy app lol!
Got the update, any of you use bxactions to remap the button? Does it still work?

I just got it on my AT&T Note 8
All I've been able to locate on this update is that there were some improvements to the camera software, wireless charging optimizations, and possibly a fix for the BlueBorne vulnerability. I'm not able to find a full changelog at all.
I think this is to fix Samsung Pay error "Failed to connect to server. Try again later".
I just got the update too (220.93 MB). I already had the August security patch/update.
As soon as I got this update I was also able to now update Bixby to latest version that allows you to disable to Bixby Home on short press. Before this update Bixby would say I was running the latest version but the new option was not there, and settings menu was old format, now it matches what's on this thread:
https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyS8/comments/71bj0s/you_can_now_disable_bixby_button_presstohome/
Same here just noticed the bixby update
I noticed that I put my Note 8 on the wireless charger and it started updating Bixby. Shortly after all the Bixby updates, I checked for a system update and there was one, but I had to wait for my battery to charge a little. So, I don't know if the ability to use the new Bixby was really contingent on me getting the update or not. I did check and after the update, I am not vulnerable to the blueborne hack. I don't know if I was vulnerable before, but I can say I am not since I checked after the update.

This is what I wanted the most and now running Armis BlueBorne scanner, it is showing the device is safe, which is wasn't previously.
Definitely good news as I use a smart watch and BT headphones.

New Update 47.2.A.6.30

Anyone know what fixes/changes are included?
They fixed issue with wifi at first boot configuration (not connecting),
January security patches and for me phone works faster.
Sent from my Sony Xperia XZ Premium using XDA Labs
Well that all sounds very positive! Hopefully they won't be long with the customised UK version of it (still haven't got the previous update).

what's with the delay to UK devices?
Hey do you all have the issue with low volume and bottom speaker isn't working. I am still on december patch and I have the issue of bottom speaker isn't working and I have to squeeze the top one to get it working.
After this update, I have this issue where the phone shows as if no sim card is inserted immediately after the boot. It takes around 5 minutes for the phone to detect the sim cards. I had done a factory reset which seemed to have solved the issue, but the issue returned after installing the Google dialer, earlier before factory reset I had XZ3 dialer.
Anybody else facing this issue! Just after reboot the phone takes too long to detect the sim cards and networks, if you have a third party dialer/xz3 dialer installed.
I have dual sim variant. Phone detects the sim and network immediately if only one sim is inserted in either of the slots. Which means it is not a hardware issue. I believe it exists only in dual sim variant and is a software issue for phones with a non stock dialer.
Please can someone check and confirm if this issue exists?
no isaues so far here. also would agree that the smartbackligt seems better.
does anyone know how to move the clock back over to the right side though?
No issues for me too, orange customization. I had bug with wifi and gps, now it's ok. Everything is stable.
How to root this version ?
Thanks

I had this Issue and with the new update it's gone.
This release seems to have fixed my SD card error issue in camera. Previously I would get error once in a while when taking a photo and I have to retake. Very annoying. Since updating no more errors so far.

You cannot without root
It's by Google ( all companies doing the same thing in Android Pie 9.0 )
Clock change
For changing the clock position to right side, you must have root and then use substratum and the module for status bar mod, instructions here https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/themes/mod-center-statusbar-clock-p-t3818726
sound problem still exists the bottom speaker is not working
