LG G6 vs Oneplus 5 - LG G6 Questions and Answers

Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy a new device I currently use Galaxy S7 edge ..?
My options for next phone are Lg g6 or OnePlus 5(with student discount) both same price around 430$ . Which one will be better. ?
My preference is for better display, battery ..
What do you suggest.?

Go for LG G6
Though G6 is the most under-rated smartphone of 2k17, It has the capabilities similar to S8 and it also has better UI.
G6 has better Display with 18:9 ratio and it has water-resistant body with IP68.
Comparing to OP5, G6 also have memory card slot for better storage.
Camera mainly depends on your taste...G6 have Wide angle camera while OP5 doesnt but still both cameras are fairly decent.
Battery life is good on both phones and also it depends on your usage.
Overall if you need a great display with excellent battery life, just go for G6 <3

I know G6 has a better display. Idk about the battery differences. I think the OP5 is supposed to be faster with more ram. I still am loving my G6 and would recommend it.

I was at the same point like you. My plan was to buy an oneplus 5,cause of the performance and Blablabla. Another reason was,we in Germany only get the 32GB version of the G6. But then, I recognised, that I can buy on eBay cheap and imported Taiwan models of the G6 with QDAC and 64GB. And honestly, I wanted to have a phone with a big screen and less bezels. The daily Performance is also pretty well. I don't need the power of the SN835, cause I don't play games. So then, I brought the 64gb G6 and it's great. The screen ratio is nice, the performance is fast and the battery life is sometimes more than 2 days (without all of this social app trash). I like the LG
Go and buy LG, better display, good battery, wide angle camera, micro sd

It all depends on your preference;
Do you like root and/or frequent updates?
Go for the OnePlus 5.
Do you like a wide angle camera and a 19:8 screen?
Go with the G6.
I came from a OP3 and I went for the G6.
I love the wide angle camera and the screen ratio.
But the fact that it's still on 7.0 and will probably get only one more update to Oreo 8.0 is a deal breaker for me.

Ig you buy an unlocked US997 or international version unlocked; then root is not an issue.
It will probably get two updates Android 8.0 and something else.
I had a Nexus 6P and bought an Essential PH-1 (MISTAKE!) and sent it back.
I bought an unlocked G6 from B&H for $450 and like it. Probably the best phone I've owned.
I thought I would need root. The only reason I needed root was backup/restore and I found a way to migrate most of my data.
Don't see that I need root and I have had unlocked r rooted phones since my DroidX.

G6 is on 7.0 and i dont see any bug or something battery life is amazing 7 hrs performance is perfect idk dude.

You really only get the bugs on stock android, I remember 7.0 was pretty buggy on my Nexus 6P.
The likes of LG,Samsung ect play around with the Android code it's open afterall to suite their phones, hence you don't see the likes of Android 7.1.2 ect like you do on the Nexus/Pixel phones, unless the phone pretty recent in the case of the V30 which i think running 7.1.1 out of the box.

Since the screen on the g6 has higher resolution and smaller battery than the op3t (I had one) and I didn't get that battery I doubt you can get that with a common usage.
I want to add that the op5 (3300mah compared to 3400mah on the op3t) has greater battery performance, I get at least 6h-7h with gaming and normal usage, the snapdragon 835 is a LOT more efficient than the 821.

Ops. That means nothing, you don't know what usage I gave it. I tried both processors and I know how they work and how much power they use.
I'm not talking about stand by time. I'm talking on how much juice it uses while playing games or videos, etc..

Should I get the v20?

I am currently using a sprint LG G4 which unfortunately I can't root because of the revision that came preloaded on the warranty replacement of my original that had some sort of bootloop defect that I guess never got a recall. But that's a story best left for another time. Suffice to say that since getting the replacement I have not been completely happy with the G4 any more and get increasingly frustrated with it. Should I replace it with a V20 (price $552 [24 monthly payments of $23)? I mainly play games like simpsons tapped out, avenger's academy, and a few similar games. The rest is your typical productivity use and web browsing. Thanks for any feedback.
so no interest for music whatsover?
in that case, I would say no, you should choose a different phone, depending on your budget, say a samsung s8 if your budget doesn't have a roof, or a g6 if you like Lg... or anything of the kind.
the v20 is a mean beast, I love it, but if you don't care for its hifi dac capabilities, why bother?? you get a sd820 SoC, which is the same you had on the Lg G5... If gaming and browsing is all you do, pick something else.
s8 if you want a sleek device with top tier features, or g6 which you could probably have for the same 550 usd you're willing to spend on the v20. g6's screen is technically improved (ratio is different, so that's something you need to consider), soc is slightly better and more efficient, looks better, better grip, no camera bump.
otherwise if the lack of b20 isn't an issue... mi6 its performance/price ratio is awesome!
bottom line: I'm into music, a lot, and I enjoy the big screen for netflix 1080p, so that's why I love my v20, it was the only possible choice I had. if you don't care about music, I think you'd be better off with some other device
You shouldn't get LG V20 because i don't think LG care about LG V20s software update anymore. So please don't get it. All the other phones are getting Android 7.1.2 we are still stuck in 7.0 .

ehm... just so you know, LG never cared about x.x1 and x.1 updates, so no, 99% we won't see 7.1.2 coming to our phones. but they usually grant 2 major updates, so android O and P should be the ones to keep an eye out for.
The V20 is a great phone and I do not regret picking this phone once the N7 debacle happened. That being said, if music is not a big focus for you, then the world is your oyster. My apprehension for you getting the v20 now is the cost ($23 for 24mos) and the standstill of development. There is not a lot of development for any LG device, but being this is becoming an "older" device, we will start seeing Devs dropping off to work on new projects for new devices. If you want LG, the G6 is a great phone and is $10 less a month on Sprint. Otherwise, the S8 is a hell of a phone for about the same price as the G6.

Yes you should. Lots of folks have gripes (maybe legitimate) but overall the V20 is the fastest and best phone i've ever owned. It's still right up there will phones just coming out. And for audio there's nothing like it. Put Viper on it and you're experiencing music the way it was meant to be.

add ons:
Metal Design (with removable back cover) (military grade protection)
Expandable Storage
Camera (wide angle fun option)
Knock wake / sleep
Removable app drawer
Launcher themes
Fingerprint Scanner (wakes device without pressing)
Android N out of box.
I agree with this list.. I did a ton of research to find a phone that had all the features I wanted... and this one fit almost every bill. I do wish Battery life was a little better.. but QuickCharge is amazing and i could always buy an extra battery to swap in at any time.
Coming from a g4? Absolutely the phone is a beast compared to the g4. The 808 processor is a piece of crap in terms of both performance and thermal.
I would pick the LG v20 if these features are the most important:
- removable battery
- secondary screen
- high quality audio
- want a highly customizable camera experience (lots of options to get that perfect photo)
Yes the processor isn't the fastest of the ones currently available but unless you have both processors in action in front of you you won't notice the difference between them in day to day operations.
The LG v20 is probably going to be the last of the removable battery phones if the preview of the v30 is any indication.

I should add that root is a must given my experience with the G4. The longer development support of roms for whatever device I get the better. Ideally I would only upgrade to a new device about every 5 years. If they could be upgraded internally like PCs can I could get 7-8 years out of them before needing a complete replacement. Also I can't stand laggy software. Currently my experience with the G4 is that several games I play I have to open the recently used apps thing and click clear all so that it doesn't feel like I'm running them on below minimum system requirements. Sometimes it is so bad it's like I'm running the CPU at 200MHz instead of the 1.8GHz.

Budget is flexible. Especially if I can root and there is a lasting development base for updated roms supporting whatever device I get. If this were the case for me with the G4 I'd not even be considering replacement this soon after purchase. But I've not been able to root the G4 because it came preloaded with a not rootable version.

To date I have had samsung devices. The G4 was my first LG device. The reasoning behind getting it rather than another samsung was it looked like samsung was pulling an apple and doing minor hardware bumps and charging a fortune for them compared to the going price of the previous model. My main objection to getting a G6 is that I'm trading off certain things: removable battery, camera quality, sensors, for only CPU GPU and RAM bumps. All in all if I'm going to upgrade I need the new device to improve upon most everything related to how I use it. I don't take a lot of pictures but enough that a dependable well featured camera be in the device.

Need help choosing between OP5 and LG G6

Hey thanks for helping out.
Okay, let's break things down. Consider I can get either of these phones for the same price. Now, go through my impressions on both the phones and help me decide.
So, these are reasons to go for,
G6 over OP5
- The design
- "I" think the G6 camera got an edge over OP5
- It's compact yet has a bigger screen
- Water resistance (not really a deal breaker for me though)
- OIS
- Design again (It's essentially just the design and alot the design)
OP5 over G6
- I love Oxygen OS just because it's closer to stock android (G6 doesn't even come close in this department)
- Much cleaner with nearly no bloatware
- More RAM and better processor means smoother and faster experience
- I think I would find myself using the portrait mode more often than a wide angle shot
- Dash charging (of course)
- Alert slider
- Faster read and writes
- Prefer AMOLED over LCD
And there are things like SOT, sound quality/volume and other little things that would make one of them top the other. Hope someone can give some valuable comments on this. Thanks again
PS: I know the later list is longer, but it's just not that easy for me Also you may know other things that would make either of my lists grow.
also a LED notification for the OP5, the G6 doesn`t have one, that was the one thing that bugged me about the G6, so I ended up getting rid of it, I would go OP5, but I will have my OP5 tomorrow...... so I will see if my mind changes on that lol
For me The OP5 is better

The design of the oneplus5 is good bro , i know it's like a year old desing and everybody been pissing on it , but be sure to know that if it wasn't close in apparence to the Iphone 7 , nobody will point it out as a "bad" design ... once you take that idea out of your brain , the design is really good , also don't judge it like you see it because unless u held it you know nothing about it ... like MKBHD said : the most important is how it feels .
The camera on it is also great , i couldn't rely on the reviews on youtube , just because some people showed it better than the biggest phones , while others showed it like trash ... so for this i'll say it's up to you , it's definitely a user preferance thing , but note that hopefully it will get better with software updates and also that the phone is less than a week old
compact , bigger screen , water resistance ... are things that - again - come to your preferance , some of us would've wanted an infinity display on it , even the company said it themselves ... if it's a deal breaker for you than definitely consider them
as for OIS , it's something shamefull , like how could a company promote a phone and make it's selling point on the camera and not include OIS ?! i don't know , but something to point out , is that of there were EIS with 4K vids , or if EIS was more enhanced ... the lack of OIS will be no problem , even though
OIS >>> EIS ... but still an enhanced EIS will do the job , and hopefully OP will be on it with software updated to put EIS for 4K videos and make it over all better
hope i helped you with is , presonnally just for stock-ish android experience , and support of the dev community and root and all that ... i will choose a OnePlus phone over anything else ... the GPixel is great , but very expensive nd lacks some very cool stuff that the OP5 has ... and after all , it is your call , for me ... i would rock that OP5 .
G6 only has snapdragon 821 whereas OnePlus has 835. That's another big item I think.
Some for hijacking the topic but I too am considering buying OP5 but am confused which version should I get, the 6GB one or the 8GB one. Storage is not an issue as 64 GB will be four times more than what I need, lol. But just curious if that 2 GB will make any difference in performance? If not now, will it make difference in the next say 6-12 months, as I am considering to buy this one for at least 2 years.
Thanks
G6 better build quality, display, camera. The only downside to it is its an S821 but the S821 is a great SOC.

6GB will last you for some years to come. As of now, there is no real usage for 8GB of RAM; the software isn't properly optimized (yet). With some time and custom ROMs this will probably change though. But still, considering most major flagships (S8, Pixel, G6) only have 4GB, the 6GB version should be more than enough. I was considering the 8GB version only because of how storage consumption is currently growing pretty fast, so I was concerned I might run out of storage when I manage to keep my phone more than 3 years. Also I like the matte black version more.
At the end, I still opted for the 6GB/64GB/Slate Grey version though. Arrives tomorrow

For the casual user you probably won't notice a difference. 6GB is still well beyond what you'd get from pretty much any other manufacturer. If you are a super heavy multitasker, that is probably where you might see a difference.
That said, I got the 8GB one, but it's probably overkill even for me. One of the biggest surprises using this phone is that even large games stay open, suspended in the background practically forever. No more random Pokémon Go Plus disconnects!
Software is key for me. I sold my S8 because as much as loved the hardware, the op5 blows it out of the water in performance. Lgs software imo is even worse than Samsung as it's just all over the place.
Personally I wouldn't pay anything over $300 for a phone with last year's SOC. While it still works perfectly fine, that's akin to paying 2017 prices for a 2016 car.
Basically (to me) the raw speed and clean software on the op5 puts it over anything save for the pixel, which would be a closer call if the pixel could be had for less than the op5 price.

Agreed. I'm currently using the Pixel XL. And it's blazing fast and super smooth(Except some rare frame drops I encounter in the Android O beta). It's sad that I gotta let go of my Pixel. (Reasons I'm letting it go: It's been purchased from US and it doesn't support some bandwidths I need here in India. Also ROM is only 32, no dual sim and occasional microphone issues)
There no other, absolutely no other complaints I have with my Pixel. (Except for a stereo speaker I'd still want that)

I don't have any problem with the build quality of my O+5... It's nice, slim, thin, feels solid, ... great phone. Build quality? 100% good. :good:
OnePlus 5 all the way. The G6 is pretty much dead in the water. LG should have waited for SD 835 imo.

It's the bezels..man.. The phone really doesn't look like all that 2017. I would not have a second thought had the OP5 a bit slimmer bezels. At least like the G6 if not like S8
Believe me i faced the same dilemma.
There's no hitch in my mind after choosing the OP5.
Personally, it is a preference as to what you want in your phone.
Go over the pros and cons for both.
Check camera quality samples.
See comparison videos.
Etc.
Then make an informed decision bro.
On a Side Note:
These days the cameras on most mobiles are so good, it's very hard to make out whats good n what's not, in a manner of speaking...
The OP5 is missing a sd card slot. Thats a big drawback for me

I don't think I'd run out of memory with 128GB version (maybe 64GB too) really. Considering I also got a laptop if I needed a backup. I'm having a tough time with the 32GB on my Pixel XL though. There's only so much you can do even with a laptop to backup.
It's good only.
I have not tested it fully but I like it.
I switched from a Nexus 6P.. & still like the OP5 camera
It's still on personal preference..
Do check MKBHD's review on it.
Even SuperSaf camera comparisons..
You'll get the idea

Is it a good idea to leave the G6 and move to OP5T ??

The performance gain is obvious there, but the more important thing is the faster update ! I was completely disappointed by how slow LG is throwing out update, even samsung came up with the oreo update beta program to soothe her customers' impatience. What's your opinion ? What do you think your next phone will be ?
If you like to waste quickly some money in a new phone, then buy this thing X thing from Apple, throwing more than 1200€ for a phone, yeah!
I have the DS Version and i got every Month an update. But in this Forum i recognized, that for Example the european Version is pretty disadvantaged. Some still stuck in the July Security Patch, LOL.
Before i brought the G6, i had to decide between OP5 or G6. I'm happy with my Decision, having this LG Phone for the next 3-4 Years (hopefully).
Most if not all European G6's are still stuck on July Security patch which is shocking, even my Wife's S6 Edge which is now over 2 years old got the November patch last week.
Would I give up the the G6 for the OP5T......No
Reason being considering this phone came out last week and it still on Android Nougat with no update until after the new year hmmmm, also the camera isn't very good neither and has a strange setup plus no OIS just EIS.
It also has no ip67 or 68 which tbh all sealed flagship's should have now.
It misses out on alot of good stuff the G6 has, granted the OP5T has the 835 & 6GB of ram but day to day usage of this phone you won't tell the difference over the G6 821.
The G6 will get Oreo might even get it before the OP5T so keep hold of your G6 & wait until next years flagship's are out.
Would I leave my wide angle lens for a second lens that (admittedly by most reviewers) doesn't seem to do much in low light? Hell no

Most if not all European G6's are still stuck on July Security patch which is shocking, even my Wife's S6 Edge which is now over 2 years old got the November patch last week.
Would I give up the the G6 for the OP5T......No

Not only that.
OP5T do not have expandable memory, QHD Screen, Quad DAC Audio and last but not least, flagship phone's premium looks
But OP5T's big advantage after spruced up specs is its Vanilla Android experience.
I have the h870 version and this week I had to manually flash the "new" OCTOBER security update. That's just laughable !

The performance gain is obvious there, but the more important thing is the faster update ! I was completely disappointed by how slow LG is throwing out update, even samsung came up with the oreo update beta program to soothe her customers' impatience. What's your opinion ? What do you think your next phone will be ?

Nah. I got a little jealous over the V30, though. But the longer I live with the G6, the more I like it, and it's fast enough for this era of smartphones.
The gains in the OP5T won't be worth it, and there will be some losses, as well- the more I work with this camera, the more pleased I am; especially in manual mode. I don't think the OP5T holds a candle to it.
One of the odd things I'm enjoying is the screen, oddly enough. Had all the NOTE series phones up to now, several of each. I have 3 note 4's I won't use anymore because of screen burn in. That won't happen to the G6. I like the vibrant OLED's, but I'll hang out until that gets better with this perfectly good LCD (first LCD phone I've had, actually).
If money is no object, heck, get a Pixel 2 or Note 8. But the G6 at it's price point (mine was 500) is just peachy fine. A new phone worth buying isn't really out yet, in my mind. YMMV. :highfive:

How about a side move then ? First gen google pixel ? If we're on xda than we value software more than hardware so I'm assuming pixel threads will always be partying harder ?!
For OP5T NO,but for Pixel 2 XL,Note 8 or even better...the V30..hell yeah! But i found that my G6 works better than my friends Galaxy S8.And i'm using for the first time LCD,actually not that bad!Of course,S8 has better screen but i think G6 for the price is absolutely amazing.First time im using phone that doesn't come with stock android..and i really like it!One thing i don't like is when i start the camera after 9pm.It just can't take good picture without manual mode.Auto settings is just absolutely BAD..but it is what it is.Final conclusion is that my Nexus 6P is taking better pictures.I'm 100% sure what i'm talking about.Nexus 6P is one of the best cameras even TODAY!I can show you some pictures taken with 6P and G6..you'll be amazed.I'm not just talking about HDR+,i was using Pro camera app too..and the result is absolutely sharp picture. That's because of the big pixel size camera on Nexus 6p...LG G6 is not a bad device at all,but it's not what it should be actually.I got mine for $300.

LG V20 or Samsung Galaxy S7

So, some background to my story.
I was saving up for an S8+ but had to use that money somewhere else. Need to a buy phone ASAP and looking at previous gen flagship.
I currently have a Redmi note 4 and I don't want another mediocre mid level phone. I really don't like the camera or the sound quality.
Now my budget isn't much. I can spare about $320.
I am getting an S7 (G930T) for $335 and a V20 (H918) for $300. (Both are brand new)
My only concern for the S7 is no development since it is snapdragon (Can't find a cheap Exynos). As for the V20, plenty of development but no future updates (S7 will get official Oreo).
I live in India and will be importing these devices through a family member. I've already looked at OnePlus and they aren't selling for cheap, both the 3T and 5.
All I'm looking for is a day's battery life, good camera and sound quality. Not much of a mobile gamer.
Basic needs are WhatsApp, Reddit, Snapchat, Instagram and YouTube. No Facebook.
Can I please get your opinions below?
V20 is getting Oreo sometime in the first quarter of 2018.
S7 doesn't have a removable battery, IR blaster nor is it certified shock resistant. Those were deal breakers for me. The V20 has more screen space. Very happy with my V20 & would recommend it.
I owned both phones ,the S7 and the V20 and let me tell you that the LG V20 wins in almost every aspect.
Byt the S7, trust me on this one.
I had the note 5 before the v20, and the note 5 was a far superior phone: better performance, less lag (way less lag, lg software is a joke), betetr battery life, better camera (especially in low light), better screen (amoleds are amazing), better software (again, lg software is a joke, the stock lg apps are made for android eclair compared to the polished samsung phone), better software support (i used to get an update every month on the note 5 to update me to the latest security patch, you would be lucky if you get an update every 3 months on the v20), way better roms and kernel support (you can't even properly root most of the v20 variants), and better day to day phone, I was alot happier with the Samsung and I regret buying the v20.
No one cares about removable battery (by the time you swapper batteries, rebooted, and waited 2 minutes for the software to finalize booting, fast charge would have gtten you 50%).
I never used the IR blaster.
And we all use cases, even if our phone is shock resistant.
Trust me on this one, get the s7, I wish I had the money to switch back,

Oh an snapchat is a joke on the v20, ask everyone who uses it, I don't know why, maybe it's the dual camera system, but it was a far better experience on the note 5.

There are wireless charging battery cases for the s7, like this one for example: https://www.ebay.com/p/Samsung-Wire...for-Galaxy-S7-EP-TG930BBUGUS-Black/1864804731 .
I currently own both and the v20 every day any day noth even close lol.
guess ill elaborate why.
v20 is a cleaner look. Bigger screen so everything is easier to see and its on par with the AMOLED if not better. removable battery is a huge i always have one charging in the cradle charger at home. Also the built in DAC is amazing if you care about sound quality for headphones.
s7 is too small anymore and just doesnt bring anything to the table that is out of the ordinary. wireless charging and waterproofing are nice i guess.... but yeah.
I was curious to the same thing. Any AOSP ROMs for v20? I wanted to get a pixel first gen but they are 200 more than the v20 and I really dislike the looks of first gen pixels . They look like toy phones.

There is a lineage os rom (sort of), but it doesn't support the second screen.
How about huwaei mate 9 ?
Get the v20, my sgse7 throttle like no tomorrow, you cant even record a long video because if the phone heats up it will shutdown the camera and every thing with a warning, until everything cools down, it is that retarded. I had the sgs7 and regreted every minute of it, it was always super slow because again of the retarded samsung throttle they placed to keep the device"cool". When i got my v20 the difference in performance was night and day, i can record all i want and the device stays super cool, 0 throttle and i can actually have twrp and custom roms. Most new samsung phones have DVFS, that thing is hell for us, it will make the device crawl.

Nonsense!
a replacable battery is a safety net for when you find you're out and a quick swap gets you back to 100. I carry mine in a wallet at all times. Yes i do go about with a replacable battery because unlike a lot of ignorant people i know what its for
a key feature of the v20 is the replacable battery, last of its kind unfortunately, that alone was enough to convince me. This btw is the third phone in a row i have with replacable batteries

How much SOT you get with that on wifi only ?
The RN3 was very good with battery 9h SOT (snapdragon), is this the expectation you have when you say all day battery if you will be on data all day

I usually get around 10Hours. This is with 2 Sims.
On an average day about 8-9 hours. Sometimes even touches 12 hours.

Says the average SOT is 9h46 with a max of 2h13 (?) (that look right to you)
Question is how much SOT are you expecting for a days use on the v20?

Those readings say 17 hours on uptime and 9 hours of SOT.
From the V20 I don't expect much. I've had a G3 in the past and it barely gave me 3-4 Hours of sot in a full day

It's so strange to read the S7 snapdragon won't receive any development. It always was that snapdragons were the easiest to develop for because qualcom released sources unlike Samsung with exynos. So exynos could only get stock roms

In India ? there were rumours earlier.
The price is exorbitant right now.
i picked up a v20 for 30k, cheaper than i got the G4. i get the battery and everything else. The new screen i can miss but the wide angle will need post work
If you can wait, its better to get a phone that launches with Oreo as there will be mandatory Treble support

Yeah I'm thinking of waiting now. Gonna extend my time with Redmi note 4

[Q] G6 upgrade?

I'm thinking of upgrading my G6 to either the G7 or the V30. Is it worth going to the V30 given its age? I play a bit of games like Injustice 2, MKX, PubG, and some others, and I've been having a bad time gaming on the G6. Would either be better, or one more than the other? I've seen performance and CPU throttling issues on the G7 when it comes to gaming. I know the G7 has the 845 and the V30 has the 835, both which have to be better than the 821. Any advice you guys could send my way would be so appreciated.

Avoid LG.. No updates.. :crying: It's worse for Indian users. No Oreo update yet.
As soon as i can i will upgrade to a One Plus 6, i wont go for LG anymore..
I'd avoid LG at all costs. They're too slow with updates, even in the west.
If you INSIST on getting another LG phone, do some research beforehand and make sure you get a variant that can be flashed with a custom recovery so you can flash Lineage or something. Like I said, LG is too slow with updates, so you're gonna have to take matters into your own hands.
Go for one plus 6 its as powerful as G7 , even better in gaming and software update support at least 2 years not like Lg barley 1 year ?

Lol. Skip the name calling please, it's immature and unnecessary.
I am considering a G6 right now. My carrier is selling them for $360 on a 2 year interest free loan. That's a lot of phone for that money.
Well, either way, I went with the G7 today. It was between the 3 phones I had listed above because they are stocked by T-Mo. I couldn't get into the curved sides of the S9, and I just didn't want to get older tech with the V30 if I'm getting a new phone. Having the Quad DAC and the speaker on the G7 are what really pushed me to it, I downloaded my apps again and have to reinstall their data so we'll see how the gaming front is. It obviously comes with Oreo out of the box and had another system update before I even left the store, not to 8.1 of course. But, so far it's a better Oreo experience than my G6 was giving me. And I'm not too upset with notch which I thought would prove to be an issue.
I updated my g6 DS taiwan model with the g7 eu model tru lack of updates in 14 months. Now i am with lg again surpriced. G7 got may patch first and jumped to July patch yesterday. So in updates a big tumb up for once, Lg learned with newer devices and project trebble. Future tells more. I compared my needs with the OP6 for about 2 week and comparing manny other devices to like zenfone 5Z also wide angle and stereo, but lacks waterproof and to expencive for what it was.Like g6 the g7 is waterproof,BIG MUST HAVE for expensive phones to me. OP6 can handle a raindrop so underwater test failed it on YT.Also i prefer a wide angle over zoom lens, The expandable storage big plus .If a phone like oneplus crash , break or drown accidently you loose everthing. A sd card allways saves it i guese. The boomspeaker is pretty good on the g7,wireless charging and quad Dac audio 'OP6 do not'.Double tap to wake works better than OP6 to ive read. They also removed AOD, you still have on g7 if you prefer. Now On amazon Germany the G7 cost 564euro and oneplus 128gb 570euro and the 64 gb 519.So no excuse to me its more value for that price and im happy with the G7. The LM G710EM is also rootable.I was confused to buy a next LG, but not one phone is perfect but It runs smooth, no lags, pretty good battery life over g6 and awesome screen to me and updates should come faster now. But the price an features you get for almost same price as OP6 made it for me. This is my opinion on my needs. Only thing i could complane is the camera needs some improvements with focus, detail and swithing between main cameras.. OP6 did have problems to with camera first but got a update lately.
