Do you know that the 3 animation scale settings can be set to zero & they persist now
There seems to be no negative effects. Some animations are barely visible.
Reduced battery drain is the benefit.

Not sure I can be sure. 7 & 711 is a net battery loser. If I had had the ability to get persistent results in Dev options on 6 I could be.

[Q] Screen Brightness Levels

Hello everyone,
I don't know if my question has been answered already but I've used the search and haven't come across an answer.
My Nexus 7 is set to the lowest brightness at all times and it works great for me. But I want to be able to set it lower especially when reading at night with the lights turned off. At this point the lowest brightness is still too bright.
Is there away of adjusting the screen brightness slider to accommodate lower levels? Maybe an update I can flash?
I'm using PA 2.50 and Franco.Kernel #25.
Doesn't anyone have a similar question?
Is there anyway to tweak the screen brightness of the N7.?
any rom or kernel that allows this?
I think ScreenFilter is what you want.

Let you set the screen much dimmer and it saves battery life. Works great on phones (as long as it isn't bright outside).

Thanks. I will check out that app.
But you think there's a way of setting it in the system? So that the lowest brightness setting on system is lowered?

This will do nothing. It will not lower the backlight. It just draws a semitransparent black filter over everything. Battery consumption will be the same. Some custom kernels, like the one in my signature, will let you lower the backlight well below the normal lower limit. This will actually save battery.

Save battery with reduced screen size?

Hi!
Does anybody know, if you can actually save energy and battery by using the reduce screen size feature?
I guess u mean to say by adjusting DPI ? Or resolution ? AFAIK no matter what DPI u use the screen is gonna illuminate the same amount of pixels .. U can get better battery life with regards to screen by two ways
1. Black wallpaper/Black themes
2. "Pixel battery saver" an app which works good on amoled displays .
I personally turn off auto brightness , keep it at 50% and use pixel battery saver . I really have a difference of 30 mins to 1 hr of extra battery . cheers

Are you talking about where you swipe from the middle edge to the middle and back, and the whole screen shrinks down? This does cover a large portion of the screen in black, efficetively turning it off, and might also reduce the resolution being put out by the GPU, so definitely a potential for battery savings. Who wants to keep their screen size reduced for a few days to test?
^ Yep, thats exactly what I mean! Any experiences? Theoretically it should have an positive effect, don't you think?
I didn't notice it myself over a short period of time though, I have to admit.

Any statistics, how big the effect of a black wallpaper actually is?

I think theoretically it should work, as it uses an OLED display and more of the screen would be blacked out.
However I'm not sure if anyone who buys a Note 4 would use this mode long enough for it to gain a advantage out of it.
Still sure it would be nice to see some statistics. ^^
Kind regards, Stefan.
I believe to observe an effect, if I watch a YouTube video in small instead of full size.

I started last night battery life test.
this day all of them are active and I'll try..
I'm no expert, but I think with similar settings I could get about 5 hours of SOT with all those features disabled as well.
Nice picture. How did you change the position of the wifi and signal. And theming the navbar, very nice!

Right, this is why i wanted him to post sot without any mods, just stock with only those features disabled, to get a baseline.
no baseline we can't tell how good or not this is.

ofcourse everything is fair, otherwise why even try ?
have you tested with a cpu monitor ? can we see time spent at every cpu step ?
i just tried your settings and well neither the governor nor the min mhz stick as the cpu monitor does report some jumps to 1.4...
probably something lg set as a must to eliminate any kind of lag which definitely sucks the life out of the battery
i know for a fact that we can get better SOT using better/optimized cpu/core governor as my cpu monitor reports hell of a lot of time spent at 1.4 and 1.8
im guessing this cant be solved untill a kernel is released with a controller like synapse or something direct
big props on getting that much SOT :good: but it doesn't make sense limiting the phone that way to achieve it
if only we could get Dori here, his kernel is a beast when it comes to saving power/pumping performance when needed

its not really so bad when theres not many things running in the background, some lag is noticed but nothing that will halt the system crippling slow... go ahead and try it u'll understand what i mean
but for sure that is not the way to go either.
lets wait for some kernels that will have better control and then judge how much better our SOT can be :fingers-crossed:
Hey guys, what is the RAM usage? LG G4 H815, 10D rooted, bootloader unlocked, TWRP, Xposed. My ram is always at 1,7Gb minimum, which means in better case only 1Gb free. If I have several apps in the background, I must say it is quickly filled.

Better battery life when switching to FHD or HD

I just got the upgrade to 7.0 and I wanted to see how much extra battery I could get if go into 720P. After having it at that for a few days i'm not really sure if there is a difference in battery life between 720P and 1440P. Can anyone confirm if you have personally tried to go down to 1080P or 720P and notice a difference in battery life?

But why would you buy a phone with 1440P and use it on 720? No, I didn't try 720.
Enjoy the phone. If there is a difference, it's probably negligible.

if u want 720p then buy a 720p phone
Since no one is giving You serious answers...
Well. Switching to 720p should make the OS run at lowest GPU speed most of the time. So it should improve battery life. But for average user it won't give a big battery life improvement. If You're a heavy phone gamer then You might notice better battery life as games SHOULD be rendered in 720p instead of 1080p/1440p. So this way Your GPU will run at lower speeds and therefore save more battery. But I haven't done enough research on that, so that's just a theory.
But I'd say it's not worth decreasing Your image quality that much just for those 3-7% more battery. You can tweak Your kernel and get those extra % easily, while keeping 1440p.

Thanks for giving an honest answer. I'm not really going to be tweaking anything with this phone. It already flies on nougat and im not even rooted. I'll probably just leave it on 1080

I don't know about how much of extra battery life i am getting but i saw difference in charging time. I keep the phone on charging while going to work. On WQHD, the phone actually just maintains battery percent or sometimes even loses it when there are a lot of emails and texts coming in. The charging is slightly better on FHD, but on HD, it charges much faster much like the iphone i had previously.

Why would you get any more time reducing the screen when the phone is in standby? The screen isn't on then. This makes no sense.

You will not get much difference unless you play the game. As a consideration of this I give an example in 1080p. Proc and gpu work will be stable at that number and will rise if i change to 1440p. And of course will eat more battery. It could be nicer at 720p (but I do not recommend it).

Increase of battery life implies more increase of standby time than screen on time. Screen on reduces battery much faster than screen off. Makes sense?

Nope.
If the screen is not on, reducing the screen resolution makes no difference. That's what we're talking about here.

Trick make Le stock Ui more speedy

I tried this on my phone it help I think, to reduce the Ui lag go to under Developer option scroll down to near bottom under section Hardware Accelerate rendering. enable option: Force hardware rendering, it should make the Ui faster.
It should work for any Ui actually I have Lg phone also do this option.
Faster UI - higher battery consumption

Well, no, it doesn't work like that. And if you really believe in it, why is it disabled at default?
Hey, the hardware rendering option will force GPU to work non-stop and will result in a significantly higher battery usage because you will use CPU+GPU even when doing simple tasks.
You can still disable the animations under the developer's options, which to my opinion make this phone feel really slow.
But for some reasons these settings get reset after a reboot.
