Flashing TWRP problem - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi everyone,
There's something strange happening here.. everytime I flash TWRP through Odin in my Galaxy S8 (SM-G950F) it resets everything including internal storage.
WHY the heck is this happening? I lost all my photos like 1077 twice.. at first I couldn't restore them, didn't know how and now!!!!! Everything is gone..
Can someone help me please? Currently flashing stock via Smart Switch, no other way...
THANK YOU

Howdy, att s5 active was acting up so i downloaded the stock ne4 firmware from sammobile and flashed it via odin. Now the phone is stuck at the s5 splash screen and refuses to boot. I have tried booting into recovery and wiping cache and performing a factory reset to no avail. I have also tried using the firmware upgrade feature in kies but this did not work either. I am at a loss if anyone could point me in the right direction to help me get this thing working again i would be very appreciative.
The phone is completely stock , never rooted or messed with recovery or anything like that.

For anyone experiencing issues similar to what I was i believe i have found a solution : eventually i was able to get 4.4.2 to boot fully up - but then began to experience random resets. What I did was go into developer options and switch from dalvik to art. After all of the apps were done optimizing the s5 active now works perfectly, without issue. Hopefully this information helps someone else get theirs working properly.
hello
What firmware you flas first time? ???4.4.2???

PLEASE HELP - CWM backup failing to restore /data

Background: I had a Samsung i9505 running the stock ROM (rooted) for several years. Yesterday I flashed CWM, backed up my phone and then installed a custom rom (running Android 6). I don't like the custom rom and want to restore everything to how it was yesterday.
The problem is that everytime the restore gets partway through restoring the /data, I get an error message saying restoring data failed. I've tried going straight into the restore and I've tried doing a factory reset/ cache wipe/dalvik wipe and then the restore and it always fails on the data.
When I re-boot my phone is just hangs on the Samsung screen.
I'd really appreciate any help anyone can offer. I don't know enough to solve this on my own and I'd just like my phone to be back to how it was yesterday.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can help me.
Me again, if anyone can please help then I'd really appreciate it. Thank you in advance again to anyone who might be able to help me.

Frozen Galaxy tab GTP-5110 DhollmenK 4.4.4

Hi everyone, i hope someone can help me, mi device has dhollmenK-4.4.4 [build_9.1-20150619] Rom, and 3.0.101-Dhollmen-p511X Kernel since 2016 (i think), till 2018 gapps and other apps stop working and shows a lot of pop ups that makes my device unusable, have tried factory reset but dont work, with TWRP i tried to wipe but its the same; nothing happens, everything is the same, same apps installed, same configs, it looks like my galaxy is frozen.
To fix it i tried flashing a stock rom and a new recovery but the flashing process fail in both, tried via SD, via ODIN, and nothing seems to works, in ODIN a error message shows "FAILED" during the process, My current version of TWRP is 3.1.1-0
I hope someone can help me, thanks in advance,
Sorry my bad english.

Looking for help (s8)

Hey guys,
I have an Exynos S8 and installed twrp. Somehow, when i want to wipe data to factory reset, it says unable to mount /preload.
So when i start my phone normally, it stays in the "GALAXY S8" screen with the black background (forever).
Does anybody know how to fix it? Or even better, how to proceed if i want to install LineageOS ?
Please help and thanks in advance!
UPDATE: I was able to wipe preload by disabling MTP. Only now, when i choose the reboot TWRP says "no OS installed. Are you sure to reboot?" I don't want to try that ^^
SOLVED - was able to flash lineageos

Hey guys,
sorry in advance for the newbielike mistakes i made...^^
I wanted to put lineageOS on my galaxy s8 by following the step by step guide from "getdroidtips".
I've installed Twrp and it seems to work so far, and here is where im stuck. From there, i can't flash lineageOS like i should be able to.
Now i wanted to put the original firmware back in the phone with odin, and i did everything right (also extract pit file from csc etc.), but odin just says "setup connection" without doing anything else.
I'm really desperite now :'(
Could anybody help?
Thx in advance

What is the problem you are facing when trying to install lineage os? Did you format the data partition and erased system and cache? What version are you using (SD or exynos) Where did you download it from? Your problem should be easily fixable

Hi thanks for the quick answer,
i took everything provided from that website, and yes i erased everything before trying to install lineageOS ( it was in the steps)
I'm on exynos ^^
The problem i faced is after the (re)boot, my phone just went in a loop when turning on (black screen -> GALAXY S8 -> black screen -> GALAXY S8...)
