Problems with SuperSU installation [Huawei P10 lite] - Huawei P10 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi to everyone,
i already unlocked the bootlocker and installed twrp on my Huawei and now i'm tryna install SuperSU in order to root it.
So first, i move SuperSu zip in INTERNAL STORAGE of my phone, in download folder to be precise.
But when i enter in recovery mode in twrp settings, in install option all the folder name are encrypted. However, i guess i have been able to find the zip, but when i tap on Install Zip nothing happen.
Can anyone help me?

Why did you put it in internal storage? Put it on a microSD card or on an USB OTG.

But why should be different ?

Because all the content is encrypted, not just the folder names, so the zip is also. When you boot the phone main OS, it asks for a password, which is the one that unecrypts the content.

Ok, this could be a real solution of my problem. i dont have now SD card, but im going to try early and update the post.

SuperSU didn't work for me either. Magisk, on the other hand, did.

[Q] Stupid noob question inside

So I am wanting to download the Team Whiskey Beta V5 to my vibrant. When I down load the file to my computer do I need to extract all the files first?? or can I load the unzipped file to my sdcard and then go in and install the update.zip?? any help would be greatly appreciated. especially any detailed instructions. It doesn't sound to complicated but Im affraid I will brick my phone.
No put the file on your internal sd card as it is. In ROM Manager click on install ROM from SD scroll down and select the .zip file. After which you will be asked to make a backup and if you want to wipe data, the wipe data part is a tad redundant as most ROMs do that anyway but I check both.

Basically what ^^^ said. All roms are designed to be flashed via clockwork recovery. You need to be rooted first, of course. If you're not, you'll never see the clockwork recovery, and only the standard 2e (blue) recovery. Assuming you're rooted, flashing is easy. Reboot into recovery mode from within the clockwork app, watch your phone reload, and choose select from zip. Once you scroll down to it, go ahead and flash it.
Doing it directly from clockwork and choosing the file from wherever you put it tends to hang up my phone. I have more success doing it the manual way I just described.
If all else fails, just click the link in my sig if you get lost.
Thank you. Sorry, another stupid question. How would I get it on to the SD card. Is it just simply plugging in the phone (usb debugging) and drag a drop the file???

are you talking about the rom file?
you just download the files you want to your computer first (you can do it on your phone but sometimes theres issues doing that)
then plug the phone in by USB and mount to the computer but since this mounts both the internal sd card and the external, make sure you put these files on your internal sd card at the root of it (not in a folder)

you do need to be rooted to flash the rom, have you done that part yet?
also once your rooted download rom manager from the market and flash clockwork recovery to your phone.
actualy to avoid confusion... heres a step by step:
1 follow the instructions posted here: Root Instructions
4. download your rom from here (I'm asuming by beta 5 you mean obsidian beta 5?: Obsidian Beta 5
5. mount the phone to the computer and put Obsidian on the root of your internal sd card just as it is without unziping or anything (and make sure you dont put the rom on the 2 gig external sd assuming your using the stock one that comes with the phone)
6. unmount from the computer
7. download and install rom manager from the market
8. open rom manager and choose the first option (flash clockworkmod recovery)
make sure and choose the vibrant from the list that pops up. and wait untill it finishes, it may take a few minutes.
9. choose the next option down (reboot into recovery)
once it reboots into recovery, if it looks the same as when you flashed the root file, just hit reinstall packages and it should reboot into clockworkmod recovery.
10. select "choose sip from sd card"
11. select obsidian
12. confirm
13 wait for it to flash
14 reboot using the reboot option in clockwork recovery.
it may take a bit longer than normal to boot up the first time, just be patient.
15. have fun with the new rom
also check out this sticky thread if you havent already: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732458
pretty much anything you'll want to know is there, and the guy that wrote it updates it really nicely, its the only sticky thread I've actualy bookmarked
^ very kind, thank you. I'm working on adding videos soon.
Op, if the sticky doesn't answer, check the q&a section. I've STARTED a more noob friendly version. It should be easily found if you search "noob friendly" I imagine.

[ROM][STOCK][P7310] P7310UEKHA Stock Rom (US Retail)

Hey everyone - I figured this might help some folks. It is a CWM installable zip that will restore your system to a completely stock UEKHA (the US retail build for P7310). This includes the stock kernel and recovery image as well.
Heres the instructions:
1) Download this file: http://www.multiupload.com/1KRF1M4CQZ
2) Put the file on your internal storage.
3) Reboot into recovery
4) Execute the Wipe Data/Factory Reset option
5) Choose Install Zip from SD Card
6) Choose Choose Zip from SD Card
7) Select the P7310UEKHA_Restock_v1.zip
8) Sit back, wait about 5 minutes
9) Once the script completes and says "Done", reboot.
10) Welcome to a completely stock US Retail tab
Enjoy.
I just want to ask: Can we flash this on other 8.9s from other regions (namely, an Asian model)?
I'm used to how it is in Maemo where the only differences between firmwares is localization and some preinstalled programs.
Yes you could flash it onto another 8.9 as well, although it should be a P7310 (Wifi only). Just like Maemo, the only differences between regions are localizations and pre-installed apps.
This stock image would not support 3G functionality however, so it would be a bad idea to install it on a P7300.
That's great. Going to flash Clockwork and this once I pick up my P7310 on Tuesday.
Which reminds me - how are Samsung kernels built? I heard that they need to use an initrd (or can the modules be compiled straight into the kernel? or is there a kernel size limitation, which is why an initrd is needed?)
I am truly grateful for this as I rooted and debloated my Tab the very first day lol. This is a great step!
Just flashed my tab with the ROM, works great! Originally had asian ROM on the tab.
Thank you very much! I needed some of the stock original loadable modules after some prior tweaks .
Thanks for the good work!
I was checking the system script used, and I was wondering if this CWM preserve the file/folder permissions as out of the box state or is just 7777 state?

Permissions should be out of the box state...the system image was taken from my stock tab directly, and the extract script should leave all permissions in tact.
Hey alterbridge86, it's great to hear you have a GT 8.9 now, that's good news for us
Quick question, how did you dump the ROM and the recovery? I have a GT 8.9 3G from Orange France and I'd like to dump everything before installing CWM to be able to restore to stock if needed.
Thanks! And again, great work!

I ended up dumping it using the CWM I posted in the other thread. The new clockworkmod stores its backups in .tar format, so it makes it really easy to manipulate. Simply create a backup, then if you're feeling adventurous, you can take this flashable zip, replace system.tar and boot.img with the ones created by your backup. The stock recovery is same on all devices, so you can leave the one that is in this package and itwill work for you
Sounds good, thanks I'll give it a try when I have a little more time to play
Hey guys, i did something really stupid today to my 8.9 p7310...I installed that Asia update to it and it placed the tab into a loop and crashes in the settings app when it first starts up. Cant access SD card to install this firmware. I need the Odin firmware to put back to stock I think. Any ideas?

When you installed the Asian firmware at ODIN, did you remember putting the CSC, PIT, BOOTLOADER to their corresponding places along with the biggest file being at PDA? If you just used the PDA file and not the other files...there's your issue. Once you successfully ODIN, flash this specific CWM Recovery and then you can either choose Stock (this thread) or the Overcome ROM.
Yea just did the pda. The instructions only said the pda. Doesnt matter anyway i am back to stock used adb to load the stock zip to sdcard and loaded

Help getting China based GT-7310 to US stock
Hello,
I recently bought a GT-7310 in China, and want to get this to stock US using your method. I had a question on step #2.
2) Put the file on your internal storage.
How do I get the file to the internal storage and where is that location? I don't see an /SDCARD folder anywhere when browsing the tab in Windows 7. I have the latest USB drivers installed. I tried to push the file to /SDCARD using ADB but Android SDK tools doesn't recognize my tab. Are there any other ways to get the file to internal storage?
Thanks.

When you plug in the tab, it connects via MTP to Windows. Then you can only get to the internal storage, just drop it in there. You'll see all the default folders (music, videos, etc.) so you'll know your in the right place.
Thank you. I got the file to SD Card, went into recovery, executed the wipe data/factory reset option. After the wipe data/factory reset is complete, I selected the option "apply update from /sdcard". I selected that and I get the following error:
E:error opening /data/media: No such file or directory
Any ideas?
Thanks.
You need to use CWM recovery, not the stock recovery.

[Q] CWM update brain fart - need help

Hi All,
I wanted to update my ideos s7-104 (best buy US) to the Joenilan froyo fusion rom and made one mistake along the way. I copied the .zip file to the external sd card not the internal sd card. So zip file is not available to CWM (2.5.1.8). I tried manually pushing the file to the tablet with ADB (from computer) but the tablet is not visible to the system (windows 7 64bit with drivers installed, I could not get HiSuite to install with upgrade.cmd). This is strange becasue the Upgrade utility which uses adb flashes the rom just fine. Of course I wiped the system and reformatted the device per the instructions. Now when the unit boots it goes the fastboot and then stops with option to reboot with back/home which works. I don't think the unit is bricked just yet since I can still get into the CWM recovery.
Does anyone have any bright ideas to move the Ideos S7 Froyo v1.3-EXT4 Stable.zip to the internal sdcard?
Thanks for all the useful information previously posted!

Hi, let see if i can help you, if you have a backup restore, if you dont that implies some work, i dont use windows i prefer linux, you can try to create a virtual machine, with windows xp or linux ubuntu and then with fastboot commands push the file to sd card.
Another way, get the oficial rom for your tablet copy the file to ext-sdcard and follow the install instrutions of the rom, you must create the dload directory in ext-sdcard.
it look like you lost the system files and the kernel of the device, so it boot in to fastboot, fastboot does not acept adb, but fastboot has some commands to copy kernel and system file to the device, it cant copy a zip file, must be a img file.
Version 6.0.1 of cwm reads update files from ext-sdcard so you can also try to install that recovery version with fastboot.
Remember: it always a good idea to have a backup before doing anything.
Hope that helps.

If you have twrp you are very likely to be able to recover. Buy or borrow a SD card, copy the rom (and bootstack if separate) to the SD card. Insert it into your phone and install from twrp.
I wouldn't touch recovery for now until you have a working system.
Don't panic and do something reckless. You will be fine.
ok this is much easier than you are making it.
1. Google "15 second ADB and fastboot" and install it. It will ask you if you want it to install system wide. Tell it YES. Let it install.
2. https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/rom-guide-updates-to-stock-files-via-t3469484 download the appropriate files for your model Axon 7.
3. plug the phone into a reliable usb port on your pc, and on the phone in TWRP go to "advanced", and then "adb sideload". Swipe the bottom bar to start sideload.
4. on the pc go to the folder where you downloaded the files to in step 2. Hold your left shift key and right click in that folder. On the menu that pops up select "open command window here". A black window will pop up (the command window).
5. in that command window, type "adb sideload XXXXXXX" where XXXXXXX is the name of the boot stack file you downloaded in step 2. You will see TWRP flashing the boot stack. When it is done TWRP will end the sideload.
6. on the phone swipe the bottom bar to restart the sideload.
7. in that same command window as before type "adb sideload XXXXXXX" where XXXXXXX is the name of the system file you downloaded in step 2. You will again see TWRP flashing the system file. When it is done TWRP will again end the sideload.
8. Restart the phone. You will be back to stock and need to flash TWRP again but at least you will be up and running.

Going to by a sd card now so hold your thumbs.
Okay,
i succeeded to transer over a rom to my sd card now that i bought. But when i try to flash the rom, it says that unmount fail, error and something with f2s. And then it stands unmount error :/ Do i need something?
It is solved I did this -
Select “Wipe” > “Advanced Wiper”
Select “Cache” and then click “Repair or Change File System”
Select “Change File System”
Choose “ext4”
Swipe to the right
Repeat the same steps for “Data” partition

[OREO] How to install Oreo Beta 3 on Samsung S8+ and not lose your data!

This is an updated guide for the Samsung S8+ (G955F) version for the new beta 3.
I thought I would put this guide out there as this was the easiest I found and the bonus is that you keep your data and just upgrade over the top.
All credit to jaron vdb from Telegram. This is his backup and he has given me permission to use it. He is the brains – I am just good at writing easy to use guides!
Pre-requisite:
-you need to have a working TWRP
-you need an external sd card
Steps:
1. Get into TWRP and backup your current rom to your external SD card. We will need this later to restore the data and importantly: if things go wrong you can always restore back again to what you have now.
Once it has been backed up you will have a folder on your external sd card that looks something like this:
Name of your External SD card/TWRP/BACKUPS/ce04873839487e8383/[the name of the file you just backed up in step 1]
2. Download this file and save it to your External SD CARD:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1wOl1fPK_9ffSxOcGg6IHvytCrHZ7yL-X
This is your TWRP restore file kindly provided by jaron vdb.
3. Once you have downloaded that file then you will need to unzip this file. Use something like 7zip from Playstore and extract that file you downloaded to this location you just created with Step 1 – something like:
External SD CARD/TWRP/BACKUPS/ce04873839487e8383/[the name of the file you just unzipped]
This is a very important step – you must extract the file you downloaded to this EXACT location.
4. Go here and download supersu 2.82SR5 to your external SD Card:
https://androidfilebox.com/app/supersu-root/
This is the only root version working at the moment – magisk does not work as of now. It is Supersu which works perfectly. It also has dm-verity on it so will allow you access to data in TWRP.
5. Ok we are ready to flash the Beta 2! Get into TWRP again
6. Hit the restore button and then go to your external SD Card and restore the file that you downloaded and had to extract. You will also see your other restore in there. Don’t touch that just yet.
7. Stay in TWRP and now go to Wipe and then go to Format Data and then type in yes
8. Stay in TWRP and now go to Restore and choose the first file you backed up in Step 1 – your original backed up ROM. Choose this file and then ONLY TICK data to install. Restore data.
9. Stay in TWRP and flash the supersu file you downloaded.
10. Reboot!
11. You now should be rebooted back into your original rom with the very smooth Beta 3 installed!
12. Now you have to make the fix so you don’t get a buttload of random reboots and Knox nonsense. Download Root Explorer or any build prop editor program from Playstore and change:
ro.config.tima=1 to ro.config.tima=0
and change Knox thingo to v30 like this:
ro.config.knox=v30
Mine was already on v30 but YMMV
13. Have a cup of tea.
