HTC Hero Android 2.0 on Sprint

Is it possible to get android 2.0 on your HTC Hero on the Sprint Network. If so, could you give instructions on how I'm not all that technically advanced, any help would be much appreciated.

there is a mostly working 2.1 on here in the stickys ant the top on the forum as well as an ASOP 2.0 build but I would give it a few days to a week and now that the kernel source has been released the great devs here should have a fully working build very soon.

No, Sprint has not release a newer version of Android for the Hero than 1.5.

As long as you flash a CDMA Hero ROM & install the custom recovery image, there isn't much risk.

Sprint has not released the 2.1 update for the Hero yet and does not have any confirmed date on when it will be available.
The devs here have several 2.x ROMS with partial functionality, and instructions on how to root your phone and flash them are usually on the first page of their respective threads. Also, check the wiki at the top. It's new and needs a little polish, but it's a repository for all ROMS and guides you'll need.
HTC just released the source code for the CDMA kernel, and with that the devs here should have a fully functional 2.x ROM soon.

This is the 2.1 Beta. But yeah just like wtphoto said. Give it some time before it gets fully furnished for day to day use.

Flashing is installing different core software or firmware on the phone.

click the links on my previous post to read what you need to do.
PLEASE read everything, then re-read it , then read it while you are doing it. there have been many people that have not done so and bricked thier phones
as the old adage goes measure twice cut once.
as far as flash the stock ROM allows flash, that being said there are some file formats that it wont play but for the most part its pretty good.

Gingerbread for Galaxy 3

Hi All,
I think there has been a lot of enthusiasm about Gingerbread theme and themed ROMs. But any idea whether there would be a Gingerbread 2.3 ROM for G3?
Is there anyone who is working for the same? Since Cyanogen mod does not still work for G3, one of you would need to take the initiative to make a custom rom running Gingerbread for Galaxy 3.

anyone present here can only modify roms at most and give some fixes they cant build a whole rom, only samfimware or Samsung guys can do that and this is not the right place to discuss that go to general forum.

I don't think that there will be a 2.3 ROM for the G3 in this life. 2.2 is not released by now and you ask for 2.3?

Samsung has not listed this phone for 2.3 upgrade and its not gona happen for ever.
The only chance we got is using CM7 and port it for SG 3. I have started working on it, hope it gets me atleast some where.

Nope none of the CM version are supported for SG3

Cyanogen + galaxy 3 = 2

for indian users it is still 2.1 only....:-(

Officially yes, and you are not alone. If you want 2.2 now flash a 2.2 rom. Go to the development section and the stickied thread that starts with READ FIRST to learn more

@braveBuddy Great to know you're working towards porting CM on G3..hope more dev.s join you to make it happen..

you could always follow the thread in the dev section.. ..

i did but no one got back at me. i also went to the MIUI website but it does not say anything about the mytouch 4g update

Well the web site is just a source for basic information in regards to the MiUi ROM.
The Developers that are in charge of that ROM are most likely independent from that site.
If no one got back to you. I don't know what to tell you. I personally only use Cyanogen(mod) or eViL Dee's Sense 3.0 ROM.

yeah i know. i wrote to the DEV also too but never got back at me...

There are a couple Miui roms in the dev section that are getting tons of support as well as weekly updates. I'm on thederekjay's port of Miui and he updates it a couple times a week. It's based off original Miui rom and gets the weekly updates too

Google is your best friend. Dhd can have MIUI roms installed on them. If you look in the android dev section there are custom roms that are based on MIUI.
Miui is a chinese dev teams rom, just like cyanogen mod it is based on android as its core but the user interface and experience is different to that of android that you find to break it down in a nutshell.
But Google MIUI and u will find out lots more about it

MIUI is official lol but no i don't think there's a way of flashing a RUU or it even exists

i'm a rookie but i think there is no rom for M9+

I got a viper rom on my last HTC One x and was amazing. O wish someone of them will make a rom for HTC m9+ and m9+ Supreme Camera. I am sure that the phone will be perfect.
Do you know if there are any chance to contact them and ask to create a rom?

i've contacted them but they said they won't create a rom for M9+, and i also tried to flash M9 rom to my M9+ but it didn't work

Did you ask why to them? A lots of people got this phone

frankly speaking, i don't like the venom, their roms very good so no one can deny that but they are not helpfull at all, once you created a ticket you are waiting several days and when they answer there is nothing more than 1 or two sentence in their respond like "we don't know", "search on google" etc., being an expert on Android takes so much time and being an android developer or expert not a target for all of us, you can be rookie and you can mod your phone,if you are creating a ticket to solve a problem it means you allready searched on google and didn't find anything or couldn't solve your problem with what you've find, that's why you are creating a ticket to get help from experts.
My previous phone was M9 and i was using their rom, i had many problems with it and created ticket to get help from creator of rom, every single time they said it's because your phone it's not our fault or it's not our problem, so i switched to android revolution hd rom and all problems gone. is android revolution hd good as venom rom ? No absolutaley not,but they are helpfull,kind and when you send a request to them they are really taking care of, they are not blaming your brand new phone they say "oh ok, it seems like we forgot to done that " and they are fixing it,simple is that.
Bottom line is team viper is so mean to peoples and that's why i don't use their roms.
About your question,i've asked them "why" and their answer was "because we don't".
