Using Windows 10 I assume. I couldn't get it either. Try this, download the rsdlite motorola xml to batch script file here: http://www.rootjunkysdl.com/files/?dir=Android Programs
There's a read me in the zip. Read it, it's pretty self explanatory. Remove anything you don't want to flash like the bootloader.img if you only want to flash system and kernel, remove everything but the system sparse chunks and boot.img. Then all you need to do is double click the flash script and adb will automatically flash the firmware.
Edit: I just noticed a download for an rsdlite mac-linux setup there also. Might work.

Did you install the Motorola device manager?

Did you verify the size of the sbf to verify its not corrupt? Where did you get your sbf from? What guide are you using?
Guide
I am using mydroidworld.com/forums/droid-x-mods/4818-tbh-announces-froyo-system-sbf-rsdlite-4-8-a.html as a guide... I am not sure how to check if the file is corrupted or not.

Re: When
I got my phone a month and a half ago. It came with 2.2. It is rooted I have clockwork mod installed and krousche (sp?) bootstrap recovery.
I edited my post above. Please try that link. I know that guide works.
I will try that. Will let you know after I get it done if it works.
When it comes to motorola phones, that error generally comes up on newer devices when trying to flash a file that isn't compatible . I used to see issues like that when playing around with RAZR2 V8's. I'd make sure you have the latest version of RSD Lite (that also helps) and try another sbf.
Well I tried using the Linux way with the original .sbf I had. I got the same error message as before. I am now downloading the a955_stuff.sbf from megaupload and will try using that one. Will let you know what happens. Thanks for your time thus far.

[Q] RSD Lite not recognizing Droid X

I am stuck on the BootLoader screen after installing the 2.3.340 update.zip.
I'm trying to flash the 2.3.320 sbf file using RSD Lite but it isn't recognizing my phone. I reinstalled the drivers and restarted my machine.
RSD Lite shows a device connect to USB Port 1
But it says :

IMEI/ESN/MEID - N/A
When I try to flash the sbf file I get a Status of 'Failed Flashing Process, Unable to retrieve initialization values from INI file (0x7029); phone connected

I found out that error 0x7029 usually related that the .sbf file is not in the C:\ root folder. So I moved it there.
Then I couldn't hit "start" after selecting the .sbf file because "start" was greyed out. I found a post here explaining how to fix it.
Follow his steps completely and it'll solve this problem.
Give RSD a little time to see your phone too. The first time I ran it, I had to wait about a minute until it populated, now it comes right up. I had a terrible time getting it to work though... Just keep tryin'!

Hi there!
I've been trying to follow this:

and even this:

However, the firmware.zip file is not extracting (archive error). At first the *.sbf.gz was also causing trouble, but i managed to redownload it and it worked. But no matter how many times I download the firmware.zip file, it can never extract it
Would it be possible for someone to present two links that are definitely working?
Thanks in advance
EDIT: Basically I cannot unzip the firmware.zip file to extract the firmware.sbf - I would really appreciate it if someone could point me to or upload a working firmware.zip and firmware.z01
Did you try to download those files from this thread? You could try to extract it with some additional software like 7-zip.

Yeah I had tried them. But I have found the sbf file via dropbox.
Now the problem I have is RSD Lite isn't recognising my device in bootloader moder.
Yes I have moto drovers installed.
Yes I'm running it as admin.
What should I do?
EDIT: Windows plays a noise when the device is plugged in as bootloader mode. However rsdlite still isn't seeing anything, and the window doesn't give many options either :\
Check for yellow question mark in Windows device manager while your phone connected. If so, reinstall drivers.
Re: [Help] Rooting BL7 MB256
First, .sbf.gz need to be unzip with 7zip or winrar into .sbf! Did you forgot to unzip them?
Both of rooted rom's part need to be .sbf before flashing.
Second, did your phone's bootloader say "batte low cannot program"? If so charge your phone till full and try again.
If not it could be driver problem.

I'm not aware of this yellow question mark, I've reinstalled the drivers 4 times now. Could you possibly explain where this question mark may appear? I've checked the program called "Device Manager", but I guess I'm not seeing it

Accidentally bricked my phone while trying to root.

Hello Devs,
I tried to root my phone and I accidentally bricked it.
So what I did was I tried to root my phone using Kingroot app which generally does the work for me. But this time it ended into a very complicated situation.
My phone is not starting up and it shows:
Start Up Failed:
Your device didn't start up successfully.
Use the Software Repair Assistant on computer to repair your device.
Connect your device to your computer to get the Software Repair Assistant.
And it shows an error:
Error :Failed to pass validation. backup to fastboot.
Fastboot Reason: Fall-through from normal boot mode.
I tried Varizon Wireless Software Upgrade Assistant but it don't show my device. The real problem is my bootloader is locked and also the option "Allow OEM Unlocking" is not checked and I can't check it because the phone is not starting up. Now what can I do to make it work again?

If you don't have experience I recommend you to flash an original firmware with RSDLite. It's automatic and you have much less chances of doing some step wrong.

No you need a PC to flash stock rom. If you took a nandroid backup of stock rom try restoring that and see if the problem is fixed.
You need to download Motorola flashing tool- RSD LITE.
No, need to manually type in all the codes.. Youtube "flashing motorola firmware using rsd lite" thats all you need.
