i do not even have it at all no needed

I've had on for a about 6 hours and it's just the same as before; Bluetooth does not work with my car anymore (just like it's been for about six months) and the same mobile data and call drop off issues are still present. I was not rooted when the OTA landed so I do not know if root will be lost by taking the update.

Also a P9000E rom has been released no idea what P9000E anyone else have a idea what it is?
http://bbs.elephone.hk/thread-13873-1-1.html

Flashed it over the previous 7.0 unticking userdata and everything is ok. Maybe a bit snappier but really similar to previous.

Hi,
I just without thinking downloaded this update and applied from OTA when I have TWRP installed, this has resulted in the phone only booting into recovery or fast boot if I select it in twrp. I have downloaded the files from the elephone thread but can anyone tell me what I need to flash?
From twrp I see I can flash:
NvRAM
Uboot
Logo
Tee1
Tee2
Boot
Recovery
System Image
From the downloaded files I have;
boot.img - I assume this should be flashed and boot selected in twrp
cache.img - ???
lk.bin - ???
logo.bin - I assume this should be flashed and Logo selected in twrp
md1arm7.img - ???
md1dps.img - ???
md1rom.img - ???
recovery.img - don't want to flash this if I want to keep twrp, unless this is my only way of resolving this issue
secro.img - ????
system.img - I assume this should be flashed and System selected in twrp
userdata.img - don't want to flash this unless this is my only way of resolving this issue
Any help would be appreciated, there must be some sequence for me to follow as the first response in the elephone thread has some one with the same issue, but they do not explain how the resolved it.

I think it needs to be flashed with Spflashtools (don't know for sure). If you want twrp recovery with the new stock ROM, just point to the twrp.img in spflashtool. This is all I can say. For flashing with twrp questions, use search.
(You could download the new stock ROM from needrom.com. It has a scatter file for Spflashtools.)

Thanks I ended up just re flashing the complete stock rom and re flashing twrp.
Just took me a little time to remember how to use sp flash tools on this phone.

I had the same problem, thankfully i created a backup in TWRP just before, so if you have one just clear cache and system partition and recover only system partition then it works again with all data you had. I just ignore the update now.
I think it is also possible to recover system partition via SPFlash Tool

Cheers for the information, to be honest after I got this update working, I was left disappointed 7.0 stock worked quite well (except I could not properly control music when using Bluetooth headphones) I found that this update also broke induction charging that I cherish. So I moved over to LineageOS and have not looked back, with the exception of the stock camera app everything just works and better than before with stock.

Ok nice to know, I tried lineage OS at the Beginning in hope camera quality will be better. But the original flipcase with sview does not work with it. I am totally unsatisfied with the phone as I come from jiayu s3 which worked so well for me until i broke it... This was the first and last elephone for me. As I now dont have the flipcase maybe i will also change to lineage in future. Nevertheless i will try xiaomi phones next time as this is my new favorite brand for almost everything.
Best regards

[GUIDE] How to install ColorOs with OTA update

Hi everyone, just in case someone wanna try ColorOs (default OS for chinese OnePlus one).
There's some zip files flashable with twrp but, after that, you can't use OTA update and have to manually download the upgrade and flash it.
For me is annoying so I've flashed the rom, with gapps without installing a recovery.
First download ColorOs from here:
https://mega.co.nz/#!BkpwyYSB!rkYSkFI28vFGuhtsIli-vyDdsb4ZZp1-MX1cLLtaiRo
Download Gapps from cyano (select the 10.2):
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Google_Apps
Download Twrp (we will use it but we will not install it)
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/231
Remember, this process will wipe everything on your phone, so MAKE A BACKUP!!
Extract color.zip and boot the phone in fastboot mode (volume up + power), connect it to you computer.
Important if you have a 16gb phone, the second command is
Code:
fastboot flash userdata userdata.img
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash userdata userdata_64g.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash dbi sdi.mbn
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin
fastboot reboot
After that, fastboot reboot will reboot your phone. You have to wait a bit the first time. Now, select english (ColorOs support only chinese and english). go to system > update a make the system update (I had to do two consecutive updates), don't worry, it's really slow.
Now, the phone is up to date but has no Google app and, the ColorOs recovery isn't able to flash them so, connect the phone and copy the gapps into the phone, after that reboot it in fastboot mode (volume up + power).
Code:
fastboot boot <twrp_image.img>
This will boot temporary the twrp recovery, go to install zip from sd card and flash the gapps, after that, you can reboot the phone and enjoy ColorOs with google apps.
Hope this could help.
EDIT:
If someone want to root it, have to install (using TWRP) this

I've NOT tried this file.

Could I go back to a other ROM like mahdi ROM whenever I want by just flashing a back up? And is this color OS 2.0.11 or 1.2?

Yes, you obviously can but, if you use this method, first you have to flash twrp or another recovery.
You can backup the phone, save the backup folder to your pc.
If you want to rollback, copy the folder that you have saved into your pc, flash twrp and restore everything.
I used this method becouse, in this way you have ota updates with no problems.
And this method, after the system update, will give you 2.0.11

Following this guide?
ColorOs has a lot of problems with twrp flashable zips.
I preferred to share a guide that uses fastboot. I've tried all of this command and, now I'm testing ColorOs, no issues at all.
ColorOs is a really good rom, smooth, nice with battery, full of functionality and, the best camera, other rom seems to use different hardware.
The rom is really too similar to Ios and I don't like ios clones but, I think that it's a rom that deserves a try.

@AndroidInsanity
How did you solved the problem with fastboot dimension exceed?
I had the same problem with cyano 11s and Fedora.
I've edited the first post with a link that root the rom.
I've not tried to root the rom.
Can someone extract the modem image from this please? It won't complete download for me.

Anyone having issues with GPS lock for the stock weather app? When I try to get my location it stays at searching forever then eventually tells me it can't find my location, yet when I use the Chronic widget it finds my location easily.
Any patches to apply for the Colors weather? Would love to use it and some of the awesome animated lockscreens as well.

It is easy, do you need download de rom (190) in the emui website
Afer that extrat the update.app and flash in fastboot "system", "boot" and "recovery"
You have tutorial in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/guide-beginners-how-to-root-update-fix-t3255452
In other order of things, do someone know a twrp how works with his rom? (190) I tryed with 3 diferents and not works. With 188 i dont have any problems with twrp
bro i already have B188 update and i done the all things like extract files from update.app and then manually flash via fastboot,,,but those dosent work..and i m not able to boot in recovery i can only boot in to fastboot..
i already follow all instructions.

I know that you have chinesse model, not eu, me too, but i put this tuturial because the steps are the same (not roms).
Maybe you could try with other adb tool (minimal adb fastboot works fine) and you can download the rom again. I had the same problem that you and i solve with this way (flashing system boot and recovery Of 190)
I hope that you can solve it soon

I have rooted B188 [PKL AL10]. I unrooted it, than updata to B190 than to 5.12.16 - all using local updata. I did not loose any data.
After that I received OTA to MM 6.0 (ROM 6.1.1) - instaled via OTA.
All my personal data are ok.
But now I do not know if it is possible to root MM 6.0 Rom 6.1.1?

Stock recovery extraced from BTV-W09C233B019 ROM - untested

Hi M3 users,
I'm a long time lurker and reader on XDA. Now it's time to give something back or at least participate
Following my recent M3 purchase a dugg a bit deeper into this topic and tried to get us the stock recovery for our devices.
I'm not really a dev. I just used the information I found here and in the russian forum where greatslon (thank you guy) is posting his work.
If you find an error in the process please let me know. The files have not been tested in any way. I have no idea if this would even work (encryption and so on).
So I managed to extract the recovery.img file from the chinese rom. This method will also work for the LTE variant.
Maybe @greatslon or @somboons can share their view on the topic or maybe @somboons can even use it in his tool.

5. copy to PC
6. Extract recovery.img and recovery2.img using Huawei Update Extractor
Best regards,

Don't quite understand what's this for. First of all, recovery should be the same version as your ROM. I don't know if their mismatch will immediately lead to some malfunction, but some people on 4pda said they should match. Second - stock recovery's functions are limited to factory reset (wiping data, cache, etc.) and installing OTA updates. Without changing OEMINFO (and it's still unconfirmed), you won't be able to install any OTA except those, intented for your model and region, so again there's no need to install a higher version of recovery than your ROM is. But anyway, thank you for the extraction instruction.
P.S. I think there's no need to flash both recovery and recovery2. Recovery2 can be successfully replaced with TWRP and this combination is really great, cause you can launch TWRP by holding Volume Up button only.
And the only reason why you should keep recovery original is that it doesn't really wipe /data - it also creates some files there like custom.bin, containing your regional settings.
Hi Slavon,
Thanks for your highly appreciated comment. @somboons was looking for a stock recovery so I thought this might help.
Your given information are really helpful. I did not know that you could flash TWRP in recovery2 and replace erecovery Handy information.
I'm pretty new to the Huawei structure so always glad to learn something.
EDIT
A lot of good information can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/general/dual-recovery-honor-7-t3308398

Giving Back
Benjamin,
I've also been a long time XDA lurker. Most of the devices I have owned were mainstream and thus already had a very active XDA developer community; Even if root had yet to be achieved, there would be hundreds of messages on the topic.
It seems the Mediapad M3 is just getting started. I am a developer of over 20 years, but very little android experience. However, I have recently spent a considerable amount of time (about 50-100 hours) working with the low level ADB protocol source code. And I have rooted and flashed no less than 50 devices, everything from cell phones to Android TV devices to routers.
I'm going to take this device on as my first real dev effort in this arena.
I have a few goals:
1. Get working backups for people that soft-brick or need to revert (including myself).
2. Recompile TWRP for the M3 to confirm greatslon's work, and better understand the process.
3. Release a stock rom that's pre-rooted and cleaned up (not that there was a lot of bloat on my device).
4. Release a custom rom that's not MIUI (perhaps based of CyanogenMod).
Since I have virtually no experience, I am sure these goals are quite lofty and will take some time. But hey, you got to have a plan, and I don't have anything else to work on right now.
Let me know if you want to work on anything together, or if you need any help with anything development related.
- 0D0A
Hey hey 0D0A,
I totally agree with you regarding the backups, I think once the first OTA update is pushed for the EU and US devices we have a good and safe way to go back.
Especially the US owners are struggling with greatslons TWRP version, that's the first thing we should tackle after the backup topic is cleared
I will contact you regarding possible work
Best regards,
Benjamin
can flash twrp via fastboot but get error saying and no recovery
hi, first thanks greatslon for doing the work on m3.
i seem to have succeeded in getting stuck and can't get it to boot into your custom twrp. adb on linux was working fine, but no longer. ditto for fastboot just get "waiting for devices" now. i switched to win10 and installed the hisuite app so i can use fastboot but still no adb. so i have tried to flash recovery and recovery2 but when i try to boot recovery i get error "Func NO: 11 (recovery image) ERROR NO: 2 (load failed)."
i then downloaded your custom rom and tried to flash the boot for that still no luck. i can't use adb so i am not sure how to just flash the custom rom with fastboot without being able to get into any recovery.
i did have this all rooted and working with your twrp but kept having issues with dpi and there was an ota update (b003) which wouldn't apply. so i tried to restore backup and it wen't south from there. basically now can't do much other than see the unlock "can't be trusted" page and bootloader.
any suggestions?
Desperately need stock recovery img, not sure exactly what when wrong, but it is stuck in a horrible boot loop. Tried Benjamin's recovery files and they seem to remove twrp and put it somewhat back to normal, but can only access the emui recovery and that fails to load the files. Put twrp back and tried greatslon's ROMs, they load but goes back to boot loop. Wipe and format everything, install my original backup through twrp recovery, it says it works, but again, back to boot loop... at this point I think I'm dead... any ideas, any word on the official recovery img? anything? Help!!

Hello and sorry for the late response, you would need the matching version for your C128 device.
I may be able to extract recovery from an update, I have to look into this tomorrow.

Thanks! I have been able to use the Huawei Extractor to extract a recovery.img from OTA updates, but have been afraid to try flashing it. It has been recommended to hold off on trying that since that recovery.img is from an OTA and not a FULL update. Any thoughts?

2_with adb me flash boot.img, recovery.img and system.img. Of c432b380.
3_reboot.
4_recovery huawei, wipe rest factory and wipe cache. reboot.
5_ it restarts, the phone is functional but the developer parameters and security parameters are bugged.
6_adb flash twrp 3.1.0.2, install hwdatafull c432b370 (it is full) .reboot.
7_parameter works.
8_twrp installs root v5.2 (boot b380) .reboot.
9_twrp installs small file 10,80 MB hwdatafullc432b380, v83108. Http://update.hicloud.com:8180/TDS/...1/full/VNS-L31_hw_eu/update_VNS-L31_hw_eu.zip .rebboot.
10 everything works.
But it must over smear optimization ?? I'm not dev, just curious to understand.

No, none of this is enabled since you can not install update.zip from c432b380. I just have the boot, recovery and system and a version.img file.
(Crc, curver, dts, efi, product, teeos, trustfirmware, vendor, verlist ..).
flash Elite Kernel v5.2 at last always
So there is App twin and Private Space on OFFICIAL B380 or not?

Hi,
I would give a try later this week with this upgrade method on my European L31C432B370 firmware based P9 Lite (L31C432 Dual SIM version, 3GB RAM model).
Only problem is that I see in it is just moments when you need to *again* unlock boatloader to flash TWRP image and finalize install of add-on software.
Otherwise method is just fine afaik and as far I can see as member of Service Center for multiple bigger brands like *cough* Apple *cough* , Huawei, LG, Samsung and Sony in Zagreb.
Peace

Anyone can tell how is the battery behaving on 380 ? cause on 370 it sucks big time.
Does it have App Twin and Private space?
Is the battery drain fixed?
No, there is not all its.
Since I can not install the rest of the files, (crc, curver, dts, efi, ect ....)
All I flash from b380 is boot.img, recovery.img, system.img and the zip version b380.
I admit that double appl and private space, DLOADDDD, I do not care. It serves no purpose for me.
I just wanted to understand android, and how huawei does to send ota.
It's useful.
Hi to test again, i just returned to b336 and hisuite offers me update for b370. So I do it to know where he writes the update.
I think HiSuite useful files b370 full ota mf.
It does not use full ota mf pv.
So I wonder if it is possible to replace the files by b380?
And how to tell him that it must be installed?
What is a .dbk file?
There is no news ??

[Solved]MiA1 shutdown after Booting UP

Hello guys,
I am providing Log-cat(Removed) for issue present.
Only thing I am think of is that I have restored EIS,Modem,Android Secure, persist from TWRP recovery than this started
For current situation this is stock Rom flashed with Mi Flash tool.
Also lineage OS 15.1 shutdown before showing Bluetooth stopped.
Any idea how to solve this?
or I have to visit Mi Service store?
In last few line in logcat there is something related to Bluetooth.

It's never a good idea to restore data because the stock rom has encrypted data, so once you restore stock rom with twrp you'll end up in a bootloop (happened to me). All I could think of is for you to reflash with mi flash tool.

I have encountered that same problem last June as i returned to stock in preparation of android 9, this is what i did
1. using MiFlash to flash - tissot_images_V9.5.4.0.ODHMIFA_20180226.0000.00_8.0_5773957dcd.tgz - in fastboot
2. i followed Method 2: (skipping to step 3) as described in this link - https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/guide-how-to-restrore-persist-partition-t3765643
3. i used this persist.img instead - https://drive.google.com/open?id=1SyzQsyCv_dfxrOUYetG-dtx3RW_4p9H6
4. reboot - hoping that your device will not restart again
5. flash your desired rom as you wish
Hope this helps - it took me almost 2 weeks to crack this case. This could help you also
After that incident I continued to flash other roms - right now im on liquidremix
Goodluck
