Stable Custom ROMs for Moto G4 - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

Hi guys,
Today I have LineageOS nightly running on my device, but this is second time that my device was bizarre factory reseted when I charge my device.
I like LineageOS but I don't like to lose my data, then I want other Custom ROM that is more stable.
What custom ROM I can use that today is stable and support encryption? Thanks.

In my opinion, rr is the best best for device(if you like customization). InvictaOS great, aicp Rom, aosp extended, for stock rom experience use jx's rom series.
**All ROMs mentioned above are official and are upto date(nougat 7.1.2.)**
Idk if paranoid is available for xt16xx . If it is give a try to it.(latest is 7.2N)

AOSPextended v4.1 OR RR v5.8.3?

I'm on LG G2 D802 and I've recently installed crDroid which I didn't like and right now I'm trying to decide between AOSP and RR. Both are based on Nougat 7.1.2 but I'm not sure what's the difference between them and which one is generally more stable so for the people who tried both ROMs, what do you think?
I'm asking because I need my phone to be up and running as quickly as possible and I'm kinda undecided which one to bother downloading, installing, & tweaking right away.
Thanks in advance

Hi!
Some time ago I started a nougat-poll. I don't think there are stability- or performance-differences between AOSP, RR and Lineage. It's more a question of personal taste. Personally I tried nearly every ROM just to realize that I like stock-based ROMs.

Stock ROM vs Custom ROM

I've yet to set-up my new OP5, as i'm still undecided whether to stick with the stock 4.5.4 ROM, or try 1 of the custom ROMs that are currently available.
Who's stuck to stock, and who's tried/trying a custom with a kernel?
Stock ROM = ROM that was supplied with the OP5
Custom ROM = ROM that has been shared on forums by developers. etc.

As off now I am on stock but will surely be going over custom ROM and custom kernel. Custom ROM and Kernel surely gives some extra benefits over stock(battery backup and many other features.)
So just test the phone for any HW defects or any for a week or so and you are good to root.
As far as I'm concerned, stock is a custom ROM. Not sure which option on the poll to pick...

By custom, i'm refering to custom ROMs that XDA users have shared on the forum.
Stock ROM = ROM that was supplied with the OP5
Custom ROM = ROM that has been shared on forums by developers. etc.
Most of what I needed custom ROMs for in the past can be accomplished with oxygen OS now so I probably wont be installing anything aside from OEM updates until they stop supporting this device, if I still have it at that time. And when I do, it's just to try out whatever the latest OS is so I'm familiar with the new features when I do upgrade.
I think the most I will do for now is root, and TWRP but I'm still up in the air about that.
I think Oxygen OS works really nice at the moment, i will stay stock for now.
Updates will come rapidly from Oneplus thus the custom ROMS are not worth it for me at the moment.
Once Lineage or RR Remix arrives i will switch to custom ROMS
I'm on FreedomOS and it's very faster then original OxygenOS... I like this for now better than the original one
I've had my OP5 since yesterday and it's been fantastic and I haven't felt a need to use a custom ROM at all. I also usually add a custom kernel to I can change sounds and increase vibration sensitivity (may still do a kernel). I'm getting just over 9 hours of SOT with everything stock. I mean hell I used Google Maps today for 1 hour straight and it only used 6% battery!? My Nexus would have lost at least 18-20%.
When it's all said and done, I'm sure I'll get the itch to ROM and kernel this phone, but this is truly the first phone I don't feel a need to right now. Of course I rooted the phone and applied TRWP the first 5 min I had the phone haha. That goes without saying for my root apps like TB, Accubattery and Nova Launcher.
Can anyone check if the jelly effect is still there after they flashed the custom roms?

that's exactly what i would do
I really like the stock ROM. Coming from Samsung and LG phones, the OP5 is already running the type of ROM I'd likely flash to those phones if I could. I did root it though, and I'll likely stay this way unless something really compelling comes up, or OP stops updating it.
Using stock for now. I personally see no point in switching to custom until AOSP/LOS based ROMs begin appearing. It's still going to be Oxygen OS with basically the same features if I'd switch now.
As of now i'm sticking with stock. The phone is still young and i expect software updates to happen more frequently. As soon as the ROM's have more time to be developed and mature and OnePlus slows down the updates I will probably switch. As of now all the ROM's and recovery's are still in development and I am choosing to wait till it smooths out a little.
I have tried AICP, Tipsy OS, Mokee, Lineage, Hydrogen os. I would say Stock is the best. My present setup.
Hydrogen Os 3.5.0
Root via Chainfire Super su
Official TWRP
decrypted
Android o emoji's
A few tweaks.
Enjoying every bit.
May switch if CMTE (CM theme engine) comes to lineage Is, not a fan of the present theme engine.
Rooted, because wanted to get rid of the annoying ads and have some tweaks
I'm on xXx 2.0 Stock ROM and it works great. I will wait until everything is working to move to custom rom.
FreedomOS is a very good rom.
Also with Boeffla, Magisk.

May I ask, how is your idle drain on H2OS? What did you tweak to improve battery life?
I'm on H2OS too (so far unrooted), and idle drain is crazy... I even uninstalled Google Play Services (using Yalp Store to get Google Play Apps). Now Android System and Android OS kill my battery haha.
Stock OOS 4.5.6
Rooted with Magisk
Pixel Launcher, Android Messages, Google Dialer
Works great!
Stock rom with dirty core, amazing, while dirty unicorns is not released

Quick Question

Hello ppl.
Until now we have some amazing custom roms.
My question is:
What do you prefer?
Until now we have aokp, slim7, viperos, lineageos and xenonhd.
For sure we can use one device tree for all custom roms. We only need to add an slim.mk, viper.mk, xenonhd.mk and such stuff to the device tree's to get a working rom at all.
I found xenonhd yesterday and i thought that viperos is my final rom. But that was finally wrong.
With xenonhd i have full root, full working equalizer for music and such stuff.
So this one is my favourite for now.

Lineage os is my favorite, with a close second of viper os, but I'm not familiar with xenonhd. What is that? Is it nougat?
(Sorry for quoting you Kraze I didn't mean to)
where is the xenonhd ROM link? until now I prefer Lineage.

Lineage is usually a base for other ROMs , so it would be nice if it got more focus to optimise it
, also many of the phone's major issues (Camera / Performance ) Can use improvements
After trying all ROMs other than xenonhd you mention. I have settled on Slim 7. It works good enough and I do not need the extra features with other ROMs. Plus you also get more storage space which I keep running out of.
Slim7 is my favorite
i would prefer pure AOSP

you should update properly your github and sources, even vendors.
so we can use one for all people./rom and we will make better device tree.
My favourite rom is LineageOS. But I prefer Slim7 or ViperOS too. Other roms have bad performance and toooo many useless customization. I think you should update 5.1/6.0 custom roms. CM for example. Now I still on Lineage because this rom is more stable and smooth.
an update to cm12.1 would also be great as it has some issues also like:
- no option to prevent the phone from waking up in your pocket when using double tap to wake
- cannot connect to camera problem happening sometimes
- unable to change lock screen wallpaper
Those are some quality of life updates fixes to the CM12.1 rom that would make it even better while we wait for the nougat roms to be completely fixed.
But the development of the Oreo version at what point is it? Is anyone occupying it?
lineageos
lineageos 13, stable cm12.1 or cm13 or Miui prefer, can you port?

Honest Review of OnePlus X Custom ROMs

Hello everybody, just wanted to share my honest review of using custom ROMs on OnePlus X and below are my reviews of a few ROMs :-
1. AOSP_JDC Team: The battery backup and performance are good, and there is no lag. The ROM is stable and fluid.
2. AOSP Oreo 8.1: As usual the performance is good, battery backup is ok and there is no lag.
3. Lineage OS 15.1: Seriously I had a very bad experience with this ROM. When I flashed it there were no issues, the battery backup was excellent but suddenly after half an hour the message kept popping up "android.process.acore keeps stopping", I also flashed the latest build not of any use.
4. Resurrection Remix 5.8.3: This ROM is also good but for me there was Data Connection error.
Currently I'm back on Stock ROM. Its not 100% stock because I modified the stock rom by rooting and using magisk modules. I also flashed Viper4Arise_Sony_Stock_Edition to increase the sound quality.
I'm happy on my modified stock rom. Currently not planning to flash any custom rom. :good:

Also make sure you are posting in question and answer section not in development section..
There's no Oreo custom ROM stable at moment, if you really want to use custom ROM i would recommend Nougat ROMs, especially the Official Lineage 14.1. Alias, even Lineage and ROMs based on lineage suffer from random reboot(And thats why after using custom ROM for more than a year on my Athene i started using Stock again, where everything works well and no random reboot)

Resurrection remix 5.8.5 seems great. No random reboots. Been using it for almost 1.5 years now.
Nougat ROMs have no reboots and hardly any minor bugs. Orero ROMs do have some bugs but are 90% stable which is due to the old baseband and blobs of the device. Hopefully, once official Oreo update is out (or even soak test is out), it should fix the remaining 10% problems.
I tried
RR (Oreo)
Lineage OS (Oreo)
Havoc OS (Oreo)
And in my experience the "most stable" is by far Havoc, righ now is what Im using even when the Dev just droped the project
Im waiting for RR to improve and will be definitly looking for it
