Probably, the galaxy s5 is still a popular device on XDA so I should get a Oreo port of some sort unofficial I guess but when this will happen is anyone's guess

Well yeah, but that site is NOT official! So I personally don't trust the info on there.
That said, I for one have no doubt that we will get official LOS15 as I have not found any contrary statement on official channels (like https://www.lineageos.org/ or https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/).
Last but not least, as our current LOS14.1 maintainer (haggertk) has not said anything about this subject AFAIK, we should take it easy and just see...

Worry not, the S5 is still a powerful device. Even the Nexus 4 got an unofficial port, so why wouldn't the S5? My bet is they'll make a port since a lot of S5 hw is shared with a lot of other devices.

S5 is getting Android 8 by LineageOS 15 check the Lineage Thread and you will see that the git is already made so now its just a little wait time , because after a LineageOS 15 is stable there will def be a dev that will complie a straight AOSP of Oreo as well.

its not a port , it will be compiled for the s5 , a port is more like the google pixel Oreo system being modded to run on the s5 , just wanted to clarify that . but we might get an un-official first if the dev decided that its in their interest in the form that bug report feedback from users that deviced to test run the un-official builds to help them know all or most current bugs , the chances are high for the S5 as well because most of the bootable builds ive seen on different devices are still beta- un-official builds so i assume that this is the route that most devs are taking to handle the bugs quicker.

Just an FYI Regarding LineageOS Oreo from a Lineage Blog post from a few weeks ago that states:
"LineageOS 15.0 progress
While the cm-14.1 branch development hasn’t stopped, we’re also working on the next LineageOS version (15.0), based on the latest Android 8.0. We will refrain from giving any ETA, just patiently wait until the new branch is ready for release-time."
The blog is located on the following link:

Thank you!

Which groups are making Roms?

Does anyone know who are the best known recognized developer groups making Roms for the G3 (if any)?
rumors, maybes, confirmed?

Also think I they I heard dirty unicorn is working on it, and I knoe OctOS had plans to support, but I don't think they've started yet
Cm probably do a great job on this device like others but we don't know any others yet because G3 used to have a bootloader lock.
Let's hope plenty of developers jump on board now the boot Loader problem had been circumnavigated.
Apparently LiquidSmooth is being worked on.
I would love to see purity rom on this beast also.
Can't wait to get Dirty with some Dirty Unicorns :highfive:
I haven't bothered rooting because there are no roms yet. Would be interesting to know what to expect. Cm is at least something promising.
Ohh! Purity ROM on this phone will go blazing fast! Can't wait for the flood of ROMS

Bump! has already gained enough publicity from some tech blogs for ROM devs to know about it. Let's wait and give Team Codefire time to release the bumping process & I'm pretty sure we'll see a couple of ROMs pop-up soon after that!

Think he's saying that because it started rolling out last night (around 9 I think UK time?) and that people have been talking about it in the Development thread.

Apart from Nexus(es) and Google Editions, no phones have a device tree specific for lollipop.
But, considering I came from a device which sources never got released (Galaxy S Advance) and devs was still able to build (not to port, to build) up to 4.4.4, that shouldn't be a problem
Just don't be in a hurry, first rule of XDA is NO ETA.
The manifest is still missing, and lots of the code is still 4.4 kitkat code..
There's still some time to go.
I just pray that our beloved Dev s can keep it or stop it rather from looking like apple os L
Sent from my One A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
All that developers really have to do to port it to the OPO is to get the patches used in CM for the OPO and apply them to Lollipop. There may be some problems that will occur during the application of the patches, but that all can be fixed.
I'll be excited to see a port and to use it dual booting until OnePlus releases the firmware for the One.
I think we will get 5.0 this month, but not the CM version. I can remember that Oneplus posted a AOSP version for the One by themselves. So why shouldn't they publish a AOSP version of Lollipop?

They may do that. But we will more likely get an unofficial build much sooner than official AOSP/CM12S.
CM12 Nightlis will also come long time before CM12S

Because their official ROM is CyanogenMod. If they will release an official AOSP 5.0 a lot of people will stop using CM11s and that would create a legal issue. It's not like Touchwiz for Samsung or Sense for HTC, the rom in the opo is not their intellectual property., they just have the right to use it.

I THINK i might be able to make one by porting CM12.1 for example from other device similar to ours and i have been researching and found out that Motorola Moto E is almost very similar to A3.
So i might actually try porting it and i hope it's easy as it looks in the tutorial.
Motorola Moto E is left and A3 is right

That ROM is still in beta status with bugs so it is not a good idea to port that to A3.
I think it's better to wait for the new cyanogenmod version(marshmallow) to release first.
Then someone to build it for our device.
Maybe I will try to build for A3 but right now I'm busy with college stuff.

Hey guys I have good news for A3 users (not custom ROM, unfortunately)
I'm currently porting AOSP theme to our systemui.apk settings.apk and etc (notification panel, transparent recent, status bar, etc) it should be ready by this weekend if the original dev permits me of distributing it.

Unfortunately, I think same was said for Lollipop. The device is already almost one year old. If we don't do it now, it will be completely forgotten. It won't be easy to port Marshmallow if we are not familiar to porting Lollipop. I think we better start with Lollipop even if it contains bugs.

The difficulty would still be the same be it lollipop or marshmallow. It would still be completely different even if the custom ROM in trying to build is lollipop because Samsung uses TouchWiz ROMs which is very different from AOSP (cyanogen, blisspop, noname, etc)
BTW the bugs aren't within the Cyanogen version itself but the build was faulty. So it's futile to port a faulty build. Plus you have to modify a tonne of stuff in order to port the CM12.1 ROM. Even porting the A500F CM12.1 ROM to other variants of A5 causes massive headaches.
Trust me I have experience.
I'm pretty sure one day someone will develop for us, if not then it'll be me, but I'm too busy with college now D: and I have a computer too crappy to build ROMs. So that sucks :/
Can I actually root the lollipop version of A3? I need the system files but can't do without root
Yes, you can.

Welcome LineageOS

We here in lovely XDA community are welcome LineageOS and strongly eager to learn about the new features[emoji6] [emoji106]
As they said on official site : we have not started doing official builds yet.
One of the benefits of this being an open source project is that anyone can build it, but please be careful flashing builds you’ve downloaded from other sources.
We will have some more information on when weeklies (or possibly nightlies) will be starting soon.
Thanks!

the lead developer @T_I had some life stuff come up, and hasn't had a chance to look at bringing up the 810 to Oreo yet. Wish I knew enough to figure out how to help out with it.

anks, thank you for the information.
It just baffled me as to why there were no O roms at all.
I have 8.1 running on a Nexus 7 2013 and a Nexus 6 and those devices are ancient.

Indeed, I'm battling with a concussion, very limiting my screen time. Also, to be honest, @RaymanFX is the lead developer for the 2015 Tab S2 models, I just managed to adapt his code for the T810 (not to difficult) and the T710/5 (bigger challenge, still needs a lot of work).
My prio at this point is to get the T710/5 functioning before putting time in, unless RaymanFX wants to start work on Oreo for the T815, then I can test the other devices. (alas, no real work for a while, just barely managing to get 4h of work in a day)

@bonuzzz it'd be great to see the sources. The 810 is similar enough to the 710 that porting should be fairly straightforward

hi, not to open a new thread:
but official there is also Nougat 7.1 for the S2 2015 version.
Can i flash this and root it per superSu?
Is there any custom kernal avialble?
or better an "original" Rom just moded?
thanks for answers in advance
adddy2
The answer is quite easy.
CustomROMs would be easier to create if there'd be an official Oreo ROM from Samsung. The SM-T810 is still on Nougat (I got a "new" update a couple of days ago, which only "updated" the security patch level...).
Since Samsung released the S3 Tablet, there won't be any effort spend into developing an official Oreo Rom in this "older" Tablet, imo. The SM-T810 has an Exynos 5433 CPU (and not a Qualcomm), which means we're facing closed-source and therefore smooth and fully working CustomROMs won't be very likely.
The question is: Why do you want a custom ROM at all?
The stock Nougat ROM can be debloated (e. g. via Neked Maker), rooted, Xposed can be installed.
All is working fine, and you can customize it very much.
What feature are you looking for in a custom ROM which isn't possible with stock ROM??

There's no stock Oreo rom. For me, it's not that I want a custom rom, it's more that I want an Oreo rom.
Actually possessor of a T715 Tab S2. I saw someone managed to build an Oreo rom for T710, if the rom will come also for the sim variant it will be really great! We have to forget about samsung spending time for "old" devices....Instead thanks all the developers teying to get the best out of this tab and updating it.
P.s give me a working fingerprint and i'll give you mi life lol

I'll build daily for all 4 Oreo variants when the code is mature enough to boot :good:
