Galaxy S8 Notification Slow Down Because of Google App - Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions and Answers

Hi,
I have been experiencing slow notifications on my S8 ever since I bought it, specifically with apps like Twitter and Skype. After research, I tested turning off the app power monitor, but that did not help. Then, I tried disabling the google app and the problem was fixed. However, I do use the google app on a regular basis so I would like to find a different way to fix the problem. I have also tried a phone reset with no results.
Thanks in advanced for any help!

Go really if that works by stopping the google application.
I have it like that, but there are many other things that I lose when I deactivate that function, for example the dictation to google voice, a function that is widely used by me.
I read that Nougat did not pass.
Amazing that there is no solution to this. There is no other solution?

Hey guys, i have a very annoying issue in the stock Gallery app. Everytime i hold the selection of a picture my phone starts speaking out loud that i have selected it. It is very annoyng and embarassing when this happens in public! I know that the issue was related to LightFlow which i hadon the S3 and was automatically downloaded on my phone when i first logged in my Google Play Account. Sincei have unistalled it i have this problem . I have tried to reinstall and unistall it in other more complete ways but the issue remains. Any suggestions on how to resolve? Thanks in advance!

Should be.....
Settings>My device>Accessibility
And there is a Talk back tab.
Those settings should fix your issue.

If that doesn't work, then you may have to disable the google text to speech and samsung text to speech engines. That stopped it for me, I'm using LightFlow (LED notications app).

is it safe to disable ims service? What does it do?

It seem like ims service is constantly trigger the cpu wakelock? Does anyone know if I can safely disable it? What would not work if i disable it?
I tried disabling it on mine, and my dialer no longer worked correctly. So I'd say no, it's not safe to delete.

I was hoping it just related to the wifi calling from the search I have done. I guess I will hold off this idea for now then.

I can confirm that it causes the dialer to stop working. Do not disable it

I turn off wifi calling. I'm not sure if i need turn of HD calling..
Ive uninstalled it completely via Titanium backup, no issues what so ever, dialer still works, im running Oreo on a S8+.
Confirmed, I've also uninstalled com.sec.ims, com.sec.imsservice and additionally I've uninstalled com.sec.epdg. No issues so far.
My understanding is that IMS is basically responsible for provisioning all carrier related features such as HD calling, Wifi Calling, ADV Messaging, etc. If you need/want things like that then you must not disable. Otherwise you should be ok.

Anyone else with no maps in weather apps?

Having a very strange problem on the g6. For all the weather apps I use they include weather maps superimposed on Google maps. But the Google maps part of it doesn't display. So all that shows is the cloud cover or precipitation (or whatever layer I have it showing). But since the Google maps part doesn't display I don't know where that precipitation actually is. And this is for all the weather apps I have tried.
I'm a long time Android user and have used these weather apps for years. Any idea why it's not working correctly on this g6? I've tried checking all the app permissions and uninstalling and reinstalling. And Google Maps works fine by itself.
Mine got a problem using uber app its just blank no maps all i can see is the cars available.

Definitely sounds like the same problem. Hope someone has been able to solve this.
I've tried everything I can think of to get this to work but no luck.

When i got my replacement phone i had the same problem. The maps didn't work for Weather Underground, Gas Buddy, Sensorly, etc. I ended up doing a full reset again. ugh!!! So much for spending the evening setting up my phone for the millionth time it seems. I've never had this problem before. I don't know if it's an issue with LG's android software or what.

Did that end up fixing the problem? Like you, I really don't want to do a reset after finally getting the phone setup.
Btw, I did a lot of searching online about this issue and the only other reference to it I could find was from someone with a Verizon lg g6 also.

That's 1weather on my tmobile g6. I didn't do anything, just working out of the box.
I wonder if verizon had done sth to mess with the maps. Can we check if other verizon users having the same issue or not?
Any progress on this issue?

Hi all,
I'm having similar issues except not just with weather apps.
I've also been using the verizon version of Lg G6 and noticed that google maps embedded in ALL apps (i.e. yelp, zillow, tripadvisor, priceline, etc) come out completely blank. This has been going on since day 1 of using this phone. I've attached a screen shot of what it looks like on yelp.
Google maps itself works just fine without any issues.
My phone is up to date with all the system/app updates. I've tried clearing cache, uninstalling and reinstalling all those apps. The only thing I havent tried is doing a factory reset... which I dont want to do =\
Anyone else having this problem?? Any fixes??
I did a factory reset and the issue didn't come back. Btw the reset wasn't as painful as I thought it would be. The LG backup & restore function worked reasonably well. Backed up to SD card bf reset and restored right after. Things still needed to be setup a little. I've always had a rooted phone before this and relied on Titanium backup, so didn't know what to expect.

You go to settings-->backup & reset --> and right below factory data reset you will see "Reset Settings"
Hope this fixes your issues too!

Bixby Tutorial issue?

What's happening with my phone and that's Bixby? Since Bixby has been updated I'm trying to make my voice recognition settings (where I have to go with the same timbre and intonation) and every time it shows me this:
Also, while I try this, If someone calls me, I pick it up, but I do not hear him? Why?

Ok Google Voice crashing system?

Hi
Anyone else having trouble with Google Voice Search crashing the system and causing it to reboot?
I find after an hour or so, Voice Search stops working as it has turned/toggled off in Google settings.
When I toggle it back on, it causes the system to crash and the phone reboots.
Working fine for me. Did you try cache and data clear?
Yep, sure did.
I've gone back to using the built in Launcher and now it works fine.
what launcher were you using previously? Using Nova here with no problems

I was using Nova at first, then Evie launcher, but both gave the same issue.
I think I may have pinned it down to me using the whitelist app to make Google full screen?

hmm, do you have anything else modified? I didn't use the app, I white listed everything via ADB commands so theoretically, I should have the same issue

hmmm, this is definitely a weird one. Are you using the smart lock voice feature by chance? I know some folks were having issues with Smart Lock. Just wondering if this is somehow related

No not using smart lock.
It is strange? It's been fine all day today using Launcher3.
Ive tried running the phone in safe mode and all is fine, but using a third party launcher seems to break Voice Search within an hour or so after rebooting.
I can live with the inbuilt launcher for now. Maybe on the next firmware update it will fix the issue?
