I don't love any phones lol I like the mi mix 2 but prefer the original mi mix. More screen and overall a better phone in my own opinion. Yes the camera is better, yes there are other bits that's better but the sound volume is way to low through the headphones and overall the sound quality is pants anyway. Luckily I've made this mi mix 2 better by rooting it and installing viper as a fix to the poor low quality sound.
For me to buy the mix 3 if it ever comes out it must have some vast improvements over the mix 2.
Conclusion would I buy this phone again? No I'd buy the Mix "again" and wait for 3 to launch.

Maybe you should think about buying a
headset with aptx support

I buy phones all the time. Currently have a mate 9, honor note 8, s8 plus and mi mix2. Just thought the 2 would be a better phone. It'll be up for sale soon anyways to make way for the s9 ?

by far the worst piece of **** i have ever bought with Mi Mix 1, always software issue and their ****ty MIUI, with fcking stupid bootloader. OnePlus is far far better !

But the decision was yours. Perhaps you should have thought a bit more of IT before buying it.

OK, so i've had this phone a week now, i came from a galaxy s6.
The quality is fantastic for the money, I received the euro version that had english text on the message as you open the box and no problems setting it up.
Weird that people say they have issues with the software, i haven't has a single issue with any apps i used on the S6, banking, email, browsing, games etc. Even Android Auto works exactly as it did previously, which i was surprised about because i heard that there were issues with it not working and was prepared to have to flash to phone to have that work. Not has a single FC.
MIUI is totally fine as a version of android in my opinion, I'm now thinking of sticking with it instead of flashing, which i thought i'd never say tbh. Maybe when lineage oreo is in a close to perfect state then i'll probably move over because i do like stock more, but miui is fine for now.
Battery life has been great, i've had around 1.5 days battery life of normal use, browsing, total of say 30 mins youtube in the daytime, a bit of twitch at lunchtime and general couch browsing/email at night.
Great phone for the money like i said. The single thing i have come across is a weird one, and a non issue really, but when i have the speech audio from android auto such as reading texts or reading out directions, the quality seems like its a low bit rate, where as the s6 was very clear, like listening to a 96k mp3 compared to a 320k mp3.

mi mix 2 is clearly a game phone. It has no ir blaster, no FM radio built in, no audio jack, bad cameras, bad quality sound, crap os(miui). It's a pretty looking device with a powerful chipset though.

Basically you pay 400€ for sd835 6gb ram and design, which is not cheap at all, since the price is close to galaxy S8.

I love my Mix2. It's not perfect but in terms of value for money and looks it's unbeatable. Sell yours and buy something else but remember that no phone is perfect.

400 is cheap especially considering a top range phone will cost u around 700+ and those ones will have much more features.

I paid for mine, brand new sealed 332 € from AliExpress with topcashback. I don't think I can buy a new S8 brand new and sealed for that money. I had before S8 and Mate 10 Pro. I can say I'm more than satisfied what device gives for the value. Earpiece are same like on S8 and Mate 10 Pro. Main speaker is better on Mate 10 Pro when you turn it on landscape. But those chopines/stutter, what I had on S8 and sometimes on Mate, I can't see it on Mi MIX 2.

I'm surprised about the negative feedback about this phone.
I personally am quite touched by it's bang for the buck ratio, but I also enjoy my original Mix, so maybe I'm just biased towards the Mix series?
Back when headphone jacks started disappearing on these devices I was pissed, as I had a pretty decent pair of headphones that would soon be obsolete but ever since I moved onto my Siberia 840 headset I more or less phased out wired audio entirely, making it less of an issue for me.
At this point I consider wired headphones a retro commodity, such as VHS or DVD players.

Great Phone
I only can say the Phone is amazing. I pay 360€ here in Germany, screen is First Classic,Sound ist good, Speed very good. I Love it.

I like it, especially for the price
could have had a larger battery but not too bad
The battery is kinda huge for such a device
I just love this mobile phone
Better than honor 5x
I like the design at back.
Amazing price, outstanding battery. Good Camera, and it's got a finger print sensor. Additionally awesome ROM support on the XDA Forum.
I picked this phone up for my mother, and shes starting to like it as well. Especially the finger print sensor because its easy to unlock while traveling.

I really love this. Might be my dailt driver for the next 2 years.
really love this device..
I just picked up this phone as my LG G4 is starting to act flaky. I'm really impressed that it has the things I've needed to root for in the past. Screenshots and wifi hot spot are the first that come to mind. The camera isn't as good as the G4 (colors seem washed out on auto) but it does have manual mode, which is a big plus. And of course the price is right.

What do you mean by acting flaky?
For the price (US$195) this phone offers amazing performance and storage capacity. In my opinion there is only one downside to this phone and that is the headphone output/volume, it is absolutely horrible and hands down the worst of any phone I have ever seen and used.
I was so impressed by the specs listed when I saw the phone on Amazon that I immediately came on here and read the reviews and bought it. I never thought to research the headphone volume honestly because low output is something Ive never experienced. Sure, some phones are louder than others but the maximum volume on this phone is pathetic....even with the volume on maximum the sound is drowned out by background noise whenever I am not in a quiet room. You can root your phone and then stack multiple sound fx apps to get a little more volume, but even with everything cranked to max gain the 3.5mm jack is so under powered that when there is any bass the highs cut out because the voltage is so low it cannot even drive the headphones.
I spend more time listening to music on my phone than anything else, so to have such low volume is a major disappointment. I would love to keep this phone because everything else about it is so smooth but I love hearing my music and not background noise. Honor knows about this due to plenty of community posts on their own forums regarding the issue going back a year or more but does nothing. In all honesty I will never purchase another Huawei/Honor phone because of this and am giving this phone to my sister and purchasing a OnePlus 5T after less than a month of ownership.
Just got mine last night and so far im loving it! Runs super smooth freedompop also works on it after you put the settings in, Also it games great which i tried a game called crusader of light and it runs pretty smooth even on the highest settings which it does have little stutter sometimes very rare tho but pretty sure its just the server lag. My htc droid dna was pretty much always low on fps on that game even on the lowest settings... Game is hard too run tho.
Battery is so far great i got the phone around 5pm and mostly been gaming on it and its 6:22 am now and still has 30% lol..
And yep i tested the headphones which what dazed said and they are a bit on the low side compare too other phones like my htc droid dna but its really not that bad but can be bad with people that like there music playing loud. I say its about 15 too 20% lower than my dna which does have a good sound chip in it which was pretty known in the dna.
I tried my headphones in Bluetooth mode which are zinsoko z-h01s and its louder lol
There is a fix well kinda. You can just get one of those mini clip amps which will make it alot louder if you dont mind carrying a small clip amp around with it. Going too see how it is when i find mine.
And just one small issue which i don't like much is the speaker grill which can be easy fully blocked when holding it in landscape lol.
But other than that 2 issues a great device and well worth the money i paid which was 150$!
I agree the headphone volume is way too low, even with BeyerDynamics $200 headphones, its not loud enough.
And I just cant understand it. I even installed Viper4Android and its still not as loud at my Moto G4 Play which was a $40 phone.
Absolutely pathetic that even with Root this god-damned phone is so locked down by Emui that I cant even change the date that my cell phone data resets.
I am finally motivated to install a custom Rom, I cant live with this low volume. Its senseless to have such a nice camera paired with such garbage DAC , its like wearing a Tuxedo with a pair of disgusting old sneakers

While this isn't my favorite phone from Honor, it was one of the only Honor phones released with a snapdragon chipset. For that, it gets some points, but overall not a great phone.

I also used to own a 5T and just sold it for a Xiaomi mi mix 2s.
As someone who LOVES stock android, Oxygen OS will always be my favorite mobile OS. After owning 3 different OnePlus Devices, it was hard to go for a Xiaomi....
But the Mi mix 2s has been an AWESOME device so far. Battery life is on par with my 5t. The screen is incredible , the no bezel design is beautiful and I think it is best done on the Mi mix 2s. ( I hate notches). Although it is not amoled, the screen is very good and it works great. MIUI is not as snappy as Oxygen OS, but its still light years ahead of touchwiz and Crapsung experience.
I personally really like wireless charging, and its nice to have it on the Mi Mix 2s. The phone design is my all time favorite. I love the weight of the ceramic and It is hands down the best looking device I have ever seen. However not having a headphone jack is absolute ****.....Dont get me started on that.
The back 2 cameras are stellar and its the main reason I went with the Mi Mix 2s.... As someone who rarely uses the front camera, the quality is really good for a 5mp shooter, but if you are someone who uses it a lot, this phone might not be for you....
Overall, if you can find it for $500usd or less, I think this is the best phone for the price on the market. :good:

If only the bezzel (with the front camera) would be on top, it would be a great phone.
I usually give goog things for granted so focusing on the bad:
bottom selfie camera
shiny-way-too-slippery ceramic back (would love a mate version)
no widevine L1 support
no microSD
no 3.5 jack
About the last two dont care so much since i have bluetooth earphones and got an OTG flashdrive (couldnt get the 128 GB version cause out of stock).
ceramic and widevine are not so bad but the selfie camera just kills it. Is such a hazzle to use. if you use it as is you get a massive neck/chin resulting in an awful perspective, and if you rotate the phone say bye to fingerprint shutter and forget whatsapp video call.
Just as someone said before, like it, yeah, love it, NOPE

Yep, I needed to to that several times before to be connected before discovered that this was broken in early 2019 ROMs.
Phone with regular OTA updates and stable official ROM is just unusable, that forced me to unlock and flash. It's shame to brake main functionality of device :/ You can't expect from users to force them to flash phone. You should not force them to use old ROM to make or receive call.
I replaced my old phone to get decent camera, speed and B20 connectivity, but was sure to still have basic gsm, bt and wifi fuctionalities. Yep, cam was not broken
For $300 brand new I have no complaints. Was looking for a notch less phone with a decent camera and good battery life, this phone hits the spot. I rarely take selfie so I don't mind with its front camera. Oh and it has snapdragon 845 chip.
help me anyone mix 2s user
my phone is brick with lockbootloader i tried to flash via miflash (point test) but unlucky have no authorized account someone please help to fix my mix 2s >.<:crying::crying:
I'm very happy with this phone. I bought it new two months ago at a very good price (128gb version), and I'm using it with Nova Launcher and all the Google apps I can manage to install on it instead of the Xiaomi ones (I don't like them). I have no complains so far: no lag, good amount of RAM to keep my apps working in the background, nice screen (right now I still prefer a good IPS versus any Amoled), nice cameras.
And for the odd placement of the selfie camera, I just have installed a little app called 'Rotation' and with a touch in a widget, it forces full rotation so I can turn the phone it to put the camera in the upper, and all will rotate accordingly (android himself, and all the apps). If anything, the selfie camera himself could be better (more angle and better resolution, like the Mi 8 one).
I purchase Mi9se, I use for 2 months and I return it to amazon, because the screen lag...
I write fast and every time the phone just do nothing...
I remember the POCO, I use like a week and I return it....
With mi9se almost have the same issue... Is not software is the screen...
So, I buy this Mix 2s, the only think I don't like is the weight but I understand it...
The poco was 180g, the Mi9se 155g and my old Mi5 127g , Mix2s 190g is heavy but with the weight the you will have to take care more your phone every time...
I don't like Notch, I prefer water drop or nothing..
I like a phone the size of your hand not more.... Like the new phones, are very BIG..
Is like to have to DICKS °lol sorry
Its been 3 days with my Mix2s and I feel fine
I obviously liked it better Mi9se(6gb/64gb) $ 350USD less weight and better cameras, AMOLED...
But I don't care, for the price I pay is fine... 6gb/128gb - $ 312 USD mexico

Which phone would you get right now to replace the Axon 7?

Hi everyone, I'm curious, if you had to get a phone now, considering no new ZTE flagship, what would you choose?
Me personally, probably a Huawei Mate 10.
I'll know later. My son is getting one today for the same reasons I would.
must have stereo speakers so pixel 2 xl but its very expensive !
maybe mate 10 pro , but sound is not as nice as front speakers , also expensive
I'm looking at the Oneplus 6 that was just released. After having the Axon 7 for 18 months, I'm not sure I can live without the dual front facing speakers. The price is getting up in pixel territory too at $579 for the 128gb.
Sent from my ZTE A2017U using Tapatalk
Must have
Stereo speakers with a good DAC
6/128 GO WITH SD, 2XSIM
No notch, not edge
Ip69
Amoled 5.5 + gorilla glass 5
Aluminium body
Very good cam
Jack 3.5
Fast charge
Nfc otg fingerprint
Don't need face recognition and Qi
Not expensive.[emoji16]
I guess I'll keep my Axon until it die.
If urgency op5T.
Envoyé de mon ZTE A2017G en utilisant Tapatalk
I'm strongly considering the OnePlus 6. Stereo speakers are not that important to me as I don't usually listen to music through the speakers. At one time I wouldn't even consider a phone without a micro sd slot, but since it's only $100 to go from 64 to 256 it is not as big as obstacle as it once was.
The only options for me so far are the Razer Phone, Nokia 7 Plus, and the Honor View 10
The only one I'd consider is the S9+, it has everything the Axon 7 has but better.
Only the price tag is too high for me to afford.
Probably the new Lg g7. It's nice and also has a HiFi dac, ips display, so no fear of burn-in, and here in Italy it gets cheap very fast, like in 3 months you can find it at 500€.
Right now I can consider LG V30
Will wait and hope Nokia keeps going and brings something absolutely worth it and waterproof. Otherwise honestly not much on the market that I'd consider dropping $ on.
The point of the thread though is if you had to get a phone NOW, just say your Axon died or you dropped and smashed it or it was stolen, what would you get? It's not about whether you want another phone now.
I just traded mine for a pixel XL 128gb.
Running Android P right now, custom kernel to follow soon.
I went to project fi so the axon was no longer the best phone for me, and the trouble they are in didn't help.
I'll get a pixel 2 next year or whenever they start clearing them out.

So?
Is it worth keeping an ageing device just for that?
Everything else is better.
If I was worried about sound quality that much I'd get a portable amp/dac combo from a brand like FiiO and combine it with the phone.
Can't get better quality than that.
P.S. The SD 845 dac is not rubbish, to be honest, compared to the AK the Axon has, dunno if you've listened to it or not.
Take a look at the V30 with quad DAC:
https://www.gsmarena.com/lg_v30-review-1657p7.php
The Axon 7:

And the S9 performance:
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s9_plus-review-1736p3.php
Not as different as I'd expect.
I just got the S9 with credit from T-Mobile. Unfortunately, the two axons under our family plan no longer worked with any carrier. No sim from T-Mobile or any carrier with LTE worked. The phone stopped getting signal. T-Mobile said they switched their bands and the Axon may not be compatible anymore. Oh well, I got a new S9 for as much as I paid the Axon for so I'm very happy. Time to move on now, but I'll keep the axon to help with development

Cool.
Red Hydrogen One FTMFW!! In August, of course ?
I require Band 20 (800MHz), QC3, QHD, microSD slot, dual sim and NFC. Don't seem to be much of a choice.
LG V30 is good to have, but very expensive, so LG G6 I guess.
Nokia 8 is a little too small.
HTC U11/+ another option.
Think Huawei does not support QC3? So Mate 10 is likely to be out for me.
Samsung..., generally too expensive for what it does.

So, your statement that S9 has everything better than Axon7 is not true, simple as that
I've heard few phones using Snapdragon DAC (S8, S8 note - I admit that I haven't heard S9 though) and Axon 7 runs around them with its music performance. It is just better DAC.
But you might not care about music performance, your choice mate. Every man to their own I suppose.

Oh you're one of those guys.
Ok sure you're right, keep the Axon till it rusts.
P.S. If you're not pleased with my response and feeling right, feel free to check the attachment, I made it to sum it up better.
Judging by the numbers and the commentary the differences are too small to consider one better than the other, but if I'd be hard pressed the S9 especially and maybe the plus model as well (because the only difference between the two is the output volume) seem to be superior.
I have personally heard the S9 in a local store, and it's sufficient enough for me, definitely matches the Axon in terms of audio output if not besting it.
So yeah, my statement is correct, sorry.

Specs look good on the Mi 8... I just don't care for the blatant iPhone X copy, notch, lack of a headphone jack, or IP68. For a similar spec sheet, I liked the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s a lot better with the high screen to bezel ratio and no notch. I almost pulled the trigger on one but I ended up getting the S9+ for about the same price. I've been happy with it so far. The Axon 7 is going back to the factory for a repair.

It still works but the battery life is starting to degrade and the charging port is loose after 1.5 years. ZTE is replacing it under warranty. It'll make a good backup or media phone.

I wouldn't get the mi8, lacks features compared to the Axon 7 although newer in others and faster.
If you want an all around better device get the S9+ or HTC U12+.

it's crazy that if ZTE just re-released the Axon 7 with an upgraded Sd845 it would be the only phone (including announced unreleased) that suits my media demands of 1440p amoled, stereo front speakers and hifi DAC working in AOSP (for hifi when headset mic is enabled). They should just do it if they get back to business, LG did it to the V30 to V35.

This would be phenomenal.
A bigger battery, better camera, ane IPXX protection should be possible as well, then it would be the perfect device even if they kept everything else the same really.
All the Axon 9 needs is the Axon 7s with SD845 and IR blaster. Maybe a better camera but it already is improved over the Axon 7.

Perfect phone is a really hard ideal to fit for everyone. For me personally none of those are needed as I've resigned myself to the fact a single all purpose perfect device is impossible. I have a compact phone for primary general use and a secondary media phone as a media device to complement each other.

I understand your way of thinking, hope this works for you, I can't imagine carrying two phones myself.
In my own case, the Axon 7 suits all my daily needs to be honest, so I could call it a perfect device.
It's just starting to age when compared to newer devices, that is all.
A couple of current flagships would fit my needs to upgrade (S9+,U12+), but the prices are way too high.
Unfortunately, no equivalent of the Axon 7 exists in the price range the Axon 7 released, which is a big shame.
Just gotta hang on to it for now, or bite the bullet and pay the price premium if you really need to upgrade for whatever reason. :crying:

They were actually, well it was a concept, but to me it looked like the real axon 9. It had the front facing speakers and had a cool name "ZTE Iceberg".
There are renders of the phone on the web, give it a search

Having more than one device is just an extra step to getting more than just one can offer. As my old Z3C still does music well but not as well as A7 it suits on the go environments where quality is lost to the environment anyway. With custom updates it's still fast for general use and I much prefer it's form and ergonomic factor. The A7 is stored away in a bag until more immersive media is used. For going out without a bag the A7 is left at home. I guess doubling up my Z3C's purpose as a bike computer is part of the reason for keeping it around too. In fact I've got another second half-broken Z3C with both batteries modded removable to also suit a second sim card, it's just like carrying spare powerbanks really. Of course I could swap them both for the A7 dual sim, but where there's a gain there's always a loss.
Aged in what respect? I can only really think of SD820 performance as behind. Pushing the boundary with various mods like disabling thermal throttling and such I've managed tweaked PUBGM for 1080p high settings >30fps which is by all intents above expected average and desirable. Of course upgraded better chipsets will pull more but not too much more in a S835 and only more noticeably on a S845.
Well if current generation flagships suit you but not in price the only issue is to wait. Or you could join the buy, use and sell market cycle to get it now and not necessarily cost more.

I think you're mixing the rumoured Axon 9 leak where there's no stereo speaker and the dual notch Iceberg. I think they did re-release the Axon 7 with a S821 as a Chinese government model though. Getting to the point where they could save costs on redeveloping a new model and just reuse a successful design with a new chipset would be a nice move. However they'd have to be sure the old design is actually successful and popular enough to drive sales demand again, LG evidently thinks they hit something nice with the V30. Brings up the thought, why not sell updated chipsets to consumers that could be installed into old models, maybe through service centres and provide new firmware support. Guess that's too ambitious and consumer friendly an idea.
Been thinking about moto z2 play or force was given a old moto z play by a friend to play with for a while.......

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Google Pixel 5, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Google Pixel 5 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
Does anyone? Love this phone. LoL
I'm def not feeling the love since we getting it 2 weeks later than everyone else AND not getting the free Bose headphones like in Europe. Wtf Google?

Right there with you on all of this.. Release time frame and lack of gift for all, kind of strange.
It's about time the EU countries got some love from Google. In the past our offers have been poor compared the the US. At launch and any discounts later on.
That and the poor currency conversion rate to £ or €

For the first time we get the better deal. There are still a few features that we don't get here in the UK though like the assistant calling stuff. We also don't even get some products like the new thermostat.
The new Chromecast with Google TV is £60 here which is $77. Pretty sure it's just $50 for you guys plus you have YouTube TV, it's not even an option here
Love it! Battery life seems beastly so far.
Yeah I'm in love with it! The screen, battery life and how smooth running the os is ?
Yep, really nice to get back to a smaller form phone. It has everything I want /need up to now....
The love is definitely there - overall user experience trumps specs

Could not have said it better.
Love it. Don't be fooled from the "weaker Snapdragon 765G". UI is fluid af. Hats off to Google!
Battery life is unreal! Can't believe it after the disaster of the smaller Pixel 4 from last year ???
My Pixel 5 looks fantastic and hasn't skipped a beat. Fast, fluid and easy to use with one hand.
Best feature of the phone is the battery, for the first time on a smartphone I have managed 2 days on one charge. In comparison my Pixel 3XL would need a second charge in a day.
The consensus in the US is Jizz city. People our loving this phone. I must say it's nice after using it for a few days. Love the size. Size matters!
Overall good package. Nice size, smooth user experience, and great battery life.
Possible deal-breakers may be: buggy Android 11, no Miracast, no headphone jack, and possible screen gap defect.
God like phone, so damn smooth with the 90hz display.

Agreed. Other than when taking Night Mode pictures, I honestly haven't noticed any times where the phone felt slow.
I got rid of my 4 XL, I got sick and tired of nothing adopting the new API for biometrics, everything wants a fingerprint reader on android.
I love this thing, its not too big, not too small. Battery life is incredible. Tried and true pixel camera that takes great shots with no effort whatsoever. Feels fantastic in the hand with or without a case. Relatively cheap compared to current "flagships".
I listened to an entire 10 hour audiobook at work today ("the lost city of the monkey god", about 10.5 hours, incredible book if you're into archaeology) over bluetooth.... I was still at 68% battery, HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE!?
I actually really like the in-screen speaker. For phone calls, it doesn't matter how you position it against your ear and everything sounds great to my standards. I don't expect the sound of a 10" sub in this thing.... its a phone.
To me, the camera may be "stagnant", but it takes great shots.... every.single.time. I don't want some fancy super-zoom or 108Mp sensor that cant focus. I want to take good shots, every pixel has done that for me and the 5 is no different.
As far as I'm concerned, google has a winner on their hands. Everything I care about in a phone and nothing I don't for a price that I can't argue with.
Really nice package. Smooth and reliable.
