This phone is blazing fast, at least compared to my old Z1C. Everything launches almost instantly, and because the screen is 720p, graphically intensive tasks also run consistently at 60fps.
Haven't experienced any hiccups or stutter during my first week of use.

Very fast, very smooth, internal storage is also very fast (all compared to my Z3c and Moto X Force)

I think it is pretty fast. Prior to this phone I had a Pixel, which I thought was already quite fast. Noticeably, I find the camera to be much better at focusing and snapping quick shots. The dedicated shutter button has spoiled me for all future phones. Apps load up quickly and I think the limiting factor there is internet connection speed. I'm also very impressed with the speed of the fingerprint sensor. Sometimes I just want to check my lock screen for a glance at a message and end up unlocking to the home screen. Perhaps it is too quick.

Really fast. Il coming from HTC 10 and I can tell you the xz1 compact is faster than my "old" HTC....
Mémoire, CPU, wifi, 4g, everything is going faster

It's blazing fast for me. Noticeably better than my previous phone, the GS7.
It may even be as quick and responsive as the first pixel phone.
I've experienced a few hiccups here and there, but it's possible that it's because I have auto-update play store apps on.

This phone is fast. Everything seems instantaneous. Apps that often suffer lag like Google Play Music and Maps are smooth as butter. This thing does not break a sweat and the resolution gives it a huge advantage.

I get constant freezing and very inconsistent performance for example in games sometimes it feels like 60fps and others more like 15fps I know the hardware is good enough but either I have a dodgy phone or there is an issue with the software. It has been like this since day one. Benchmarks are great though
...

It's very fast and reliable.
3 issues though:
1. fingerprint sensor went crazy and hardly recognizing myself. I have slightly sweaty hands, but still, it is worse than when I bought it. The percentage of succeeded readings is pretty small. At some point I deleted the fingerprints and registered them again(hoping will be better). Maybe than it got even worse.
2. Wi-Fi speed is pretty slow. I compared it to my old z3C and most of the times, z3 won... And even worse, the ratings were not so good overall. Somehow, I can "feel" that.
But it's not as bad as it sounds.
3. Phone idle consumes more than twice the battery consumed by "screen on". Sad, but I still get over 4h of SOD. Maybe Android Pie will be better here.
All of the issues are "fine" to live with. And there still is no better option for a compact device.

I am not having any of the problems cited in the last two posts. Phone works great, I am still on Oreo right now. Bought it used 2 months ago.

In my opinion, the Note5 generally feels fast, but we all know that the phone has problem holding apps in RAM, scrolling can be choppy at times, and the keyboard has trouble keeping up. But that's like 10% of the time. The other 90% of the time, there pretty much a 1:1 level of responsiveness without the phone feeling like it's falling behind. However, I used a Galaxy S6 (that had 5.0.2) and it started getting quite slow after just a few weeks of use. I haven't experienced that yet with the Note5, but I'll report back if I do!
Super fast and fluid, best Android phone ever used since my first one 5 years ago
The phone is very fast! There have been instances with 1 or 2 hiccups, but I don't expect ANY device to operate flawlessly. Even the most expensive desktop, I wouldn't be upset if it had a hiccup once in a while.
I've stuck with pretty much stock everything. I would normally install Google's Keyboard and Nova or Action Launcher. Those are my first installs. I did install them, but found myself wanting to stay stock, so I did. Only thing that is "custom" is the Material theme I installed via Samsung's theme store.
I've had the phone for a week now. Very fast performance however there is the occasional scroll lag.
Upgraded from an S3 on slimkat so quite a noticeable bump.
Battery life for me has been great, about 7 hours SOT over 24 hours.

Coming from the g4 the note 5 is a very fast and snappy phone, and the apps being killed aggressively hasn't bothered me
Generally really fast and smooth. Did notice a stutter here and there but so did my Nexus 6. Anyone that claims there arent any stuttering on any phone (including the stuff that fruit makes), is either lying or disregarded it. Battery life has been great. 8am to 12 midnight with like 15% and not charged at all during the day.
upgraded from iphone 6 plus. note 5 is really fast and snappy when compared to iphone.there are some occasional stuttering and subtle scroll lag. but hey iphone also had them too..

I have my Note 5 about 2 months. I think the Note 5 has smoother operation than the Samsung phones before, and it also has fast responding speed. It quite comfortable to use. I found no disadvantage so far. Hope it can be durable.
Snappy all the time. I don't like the keyboard and so switched to SwiftKey which is awesome as it has got a compact mode best suited for phablet.

In everyday use, almost flawless. Only time it ever lags is once a day or so, in the lock screen, it freezes before turning on. Not big an issue.
In benchmarks, it still smokes the competition. And it has no throttling issues whatsoever. Did a test to see how CPU throttling was: ran several consecutive Geekbench runs. Room temp, air con on, N920I running AOJD 5.1.1.
What about the stutter in facebook when checking the comments and likes? is that app compatibility issue?
You can check this video to check the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rh4D0wJ0l8s&feature=youtu.be

moded swiftkey??
Note 5 is fastest phone ever made, it the only one that can run PPSSPP emulator and play tekken 6 at 60fps!!!, g4 choked on 30fps and felt choppy, Note 5 is a dream.
Absolutely snappy, no lags whatsoever!! I've been using it for 2 weeks now and coming from a note II, (which is still good on all levels after 3 years of usage, even the battery, the one that came with it, still holds one full day) there is a great bump and makes me confident that the note 5 will last for years to come. Way to go Sammy!
Im galaxy S series users i used almost all S series devices, but after using note 5 tha phone is ama, , its work like Charm, my rating about oveall speed is 9/10... N thanks for this note 5 forum....
when on stock firmware no modification. fast at first but will show some jitters the longer you will use it. i rooted mine used custom rom debloated with custom kernel. there on performace is awesome. looking forward for more custom rom for n9208 though...
super fast and smooth
I've had mine for two months. Still flies. For those of you that say it slows down after a while, just clean up after yourselves and you won't have that problem.

ABSOLUTELY awesome! Antutu's get consistent 60,000 to 67,000 (after disabling the pesky T-Mobile MyAccount app) and I've noticed NO issues whatsoever with speed.
Haven't noticed an issue at all with speed, whether it be opening a new app or switching to one I've had open in the background for a while. I'd say it's on par with my old galaxy s5, but definitely not as snappy as my s6.
I was underwhelmed at the speed at first, was no faster than my Moto X 2013, but when i turned off animations i noticed how truly quick this phone is, loads everything speedy, when i play games with my friends, im always the first to load.

how did you turn off the animations? also, there are ways to lower the screen resolution to 1080p, have you tried that?
I thought it was OK for a while. Held up pretty good against an lg g5 and a nexus 6 I had. Then I got a Verizon galaxy nexus (a dual core, 1gb ram phone from 2011) and was shocked. Now, of course the galaxy nexus was on android 4.2.2.... But it loaded everything faster and could even have more tabs open in a browser before getting laggy. I always thought 4.4 and 5.0 brought a huge speed slowdown to android, but had no proof until now.
Mine is not smooth.
For example it took more time to install an app from Google Play than my old Nexus 5.
I'm really not a fan of this phone (I only bought it for the physical keyboard).

The 835 combined with the near stock ROM means a silky smooth experience.
It's faster than my tears, and is able to respond before i even have a chance to form a tear in my eye.
Everything is lightning quick even with multiple apps open in the background. Hard to slow this phone down really. Easily the fastest phone I've used.
As expected on SD835, quick and smooth, and so as the bare essentials on this phone. Loved it:good:
Anything I say will be repeating everyone else:
It's really fast.
Just as fast as the Pixel 2 phones for half the price on T-Mobile.
So far, I have been using this phone for a little more than a month. I have to say this is the best phone since I previously own Nexus 5. I am really impressed with the performance, stability, and speed of it. It's really hard to slow down this phone. It's really smooth and fast. This phone has been running for five weeks without a reboot and counting. I don't see any issues with the performance and stability of this phone. The performance is the same since day one. This phone is near stock android combine with top-end CPU make the best experience overall. It blew my mind away.
I LOVE this phone. I came from a note 4. Played around with a note 8.
Real snappy. I only have three complaints
1) stock Android emojis.
2) no headphone jack.
3) I didn't buy it sooner to get the free projector ?
Bought it for my kid. Seriously impressed. The mods are fun, but expensive gimmicks. Ít runs as fast or faster than my Note8. I do wish it was water resistant, but aside from that, it is a good value.

This phone is bad to the bone. Now, with this momentum built up around the "who will make the better cheapster, since google killed the nexus" it fails to deliver. I had all the nexus phones and even another one from the android one project. This is not good and nokia should acknowledge it. They are not able to make the only proprietary app (yes the camera) which is different on each android one phone since google doesn't provide api for the cheap hardware, the phone even crashes sometimes, the app is so bad.
Phone is laggy on a constant snappy animations level. Gboard lags 90% of the time. Battery drains superfast, and heats up like an oven (warning appears) while listening to gpm and using waze.
And no, no "rogue" or battery hog apps installed or whatnot. Touch is unresponsive. The phone is like two weeks old and I'm thinking of returning it. This is sad, I bought it to support an old company from my childhood ...
I understand that snapdragon scaled down a processor to fool the cheap and google didn't scaled down android for some reason, but there is a difference between a slow phone and a laggy snappy annoying someting.
My two cents for people who are trying to find a "new nexus" is to avoid it at all costs. This phone might work for an older family member who just got familiar with android. But as I told, if you're looking for a new nexus, forget it.
I have the exact opposite experience than strapabiro. My Nokia 6.1 hasn't shown me any lag at all. In two months I had to reboot one time. The unresponsive touch may be caused by a screen protector. I saw this on another phone (non-Nokia). As for battery drain, I did experience this issue but the fix was easy. I turned off the tap to wake and whatever they call it when it wakes up when you pick it up. I found the phone was waking up all the time when it was in my pocket. Since turning that off I can run two days easy before having to charge it. The SD630 processor is plenty fast when you are not running a skin over Android like Samsung, LG, etc. The weakest thing about the phone is the camera. If you use your phone's camera all the time this may not be the phone for you.
Indeed I have a screen protector, but I had one on every other phone. This lift to wake up thingy is disabled for me also since I observed the false wakeups on day 0. I will try with the tap to wake up too. Btw the custom launcher isn't eating more battery than the stock since they disabled the stock when they installed the bloat one and even some oem have better launcher since lately google hires anyone who can turn on a pc, but that's not our case. Yes the camera thing is very sad and bad advertising for Zeiss. I'm not here for trashtalk. Anyways based on the fact that the phone is out since February and it's popularity is really low here, I'm not anticipating a bright future for nokia's second coming. I'd really like this phone to work honestly, design is awesome, they should do something under the hood ...
I'm another unsatisfied customer coming from a Nexus background. Stuttering audio on bluetooth and then this update fiasco. Always the provider, country or google's fault and nothing Nokia can do. Cheap phone cheaper customer service.
Not fast at all. Its a laggy device. Inspite of having sd 630, it works like sd 212. I feel software is the main reason for such a laggy performance
for the specs its got a lot of lag. doesnt feel like the rom is optimized.
Wow. I am surprised about all the negative comments. Which versions are having lag? I have a TA-1068 (for 2 months so far) and have yet to experience any lag.
Maybe because this is the 4/64 variant?
Mine 6.1 32/3 GB model runs smooth. After all updates up to july security patch.
The only thing i hate about the phone is the worthless camera app. It is slow and laggie. On the TA-1043..
Especially when you user the camera sometimes i n Whatsapp
64/4 version and it's very responsive. Best phone I've had for years. Had it for 3 weeks now, haven't had a single hang, or crashed app, I think I've only rebooted once. Battery life is great too.
no complaint about speed..all is butter smooth

Only being able to compare it to the 835s of the Pixel 2 and the S8, this phone has been feeling fast for me. I make all the animations .5x so that helps too. Occasional app crashes but hoping that will get worked out with future updates.

Honesty it doesn't feel much, if any slower than a phone with an SD855. I'm sure it could be noticeable in some games, loading times, etc... But everyday usage it feels the same.
I stated before that the merging time when taking pictures would likely be reduced a bit if using an 855, but with them having to customize the 845 for it, I'd prefer a slower merge on a released phone versus a phone that never comes out because they're always trying to get the newest hardware configured for it.
Compared to my xz3 it seems smoother, opening apps faster
Ran 3dmark Sling Shot Extreme for Open GL 3 and Vulcan. Score 4582/4258. Comparison chart on site vs phone app is different. Also i couldn't upload my score, but that could have been because i turned off google app. Apparently i was the first to test this phone with 3dmark
*Edit: I guess you want to know how it works day to day... Overall better than my windows phone, but in general seems appropriately speedy in accomplishing tasks with little or no delay, based on my expectations of how this phone should respond.
