Repeatedly getting 6hrs.

Unbelievably good battery life if 2700 mha is taken into account. I'm a very heavy user for business purposes and this is the first phone in a very long time that I don't need to charge the phone during the day. I can't imagine how it would be if it was 3000 mha.
At least 2 hours of phone talk, 2-3 hours of web browsing, 3 mail accounts on imap, wifi-data on, gps off and no facebook or whatnot. It's 7 hours screen on time at night here still with 30% of juice.

For my use this telephone has exceeded my expectations, I've done over 3 days of use and had still 17% of battery left. Compared to the XZ I had before which lasted up to 2 days with 7% of battery left, this in comparison is a monster!!

I have ~5 ½ hours screen in time, with 1 ½ day of battery life time.

Would love more input in this regard

Average 6-7 hours of SOT. Coming from a XZ, XZ1 definitively has better battery life.

6 hours with heavy usage and about 30 hours standby
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app

i like to charge when the battery is going below 50%, but usually a 2.5-3 hours SOT is reached by that time, plus when left uncharged through the night, the idle consumption is quite good too that in the morning the battery lost just about 1-2%. Sure there might be some app that disturbs the phone SoT, but the system itself is pretty lean in managing the battery. You should take care of what apps do you use from time to time (as in all other Android phone actually)

For the first few days was getting around 6hr battery life with light usage. But ever since the second week, I've been getting the dreaded "Phone Idle" battery drain and now struggle to get 3hr SOT.

hi all...
I m rooted and with a little debloating (without any app like greenify etc) im getting 6-7 hours (for a month+)
mid-hard usage.

I've installed AccuBattery app that shows statics as follow:
.
SOT = 10+ hrs
Stand by = 60+ hrs
Mixed use (as per my usage) = 28+ hrs
.
I rarely is cellular data, and use WiFi network 4 to 5 hours. I'm happy with battery performance of this phone.
Previously I had Xperia XP which has 6~8 hours SOT. It was hard to achieve full day battery life. So I minimized usage of my phone to stay my phone battery alive for the day.
Now I feel relax myself with this battery performance.

I just bought mine for 3 days.
Today's ost was only 3 hours with 17% left.
Should I return it?

It's not a faulty phone. It depends on app installed, usage, etc. There are many factors.
Debloat/freeze unnecessary apps, remove live wallpaper. Some apps (like Facebook app) keeps refreshing a lot and use more battery, for example.

I will try it and see the difference.
Thanks.

4 before i installed up to date. 5 hrs-6 on average after i updated. There were times when it impressed me and i'd get 7-8 somehow. But 5 is a good average of what i get.

Using pie debloated, getting 8hrs aprox of SOT, before in oreo 6-7hrs sot

For me Oreo 7:30-8:00 hours 100%-15%
Pie 6-7 hours 100%-15%
Without gaming screen on time always wifi on

Since I've updated my xz1 to android p i can get no more than 3 hours of screen, can anyone help me?

I usually get 4 hours top, how about others?
I use the phone moderately, AOD, 4G, GPS high accuracy enabled. Auto-brightness, QHD resolution, no battery saver, no high-performance mode.

Exynio version??
Yes
Used to get about 5 1/2 on the s8+. So far I'm at 35% on the so and over 3hrs of sot. Expecting similar with the s9 due to smaller bat.
4.5 hours yesterday ..
Today my 3rd full charge seems to be on Pace for 5 hours plus ...about 50% brightness, multiple Bluetooth devices
Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
First few days was around 4ish now I've done just over 6 twice in a row. Hopefully I'll be able to get 6 on avg going forward!
I usually average about 3.5-4 hours SOT on every phone I own. So far over the last 3 days my Galaxy s9 hasn't been any different. I really don't understand how you people are getting between 5-6

They probably have long screen timeout and just let it timeout...
Though I got 5hrs yesterday watching a lot of video both on the SDcard and streamed over my WiFi

The new system update seemed to have helped. Also I turned off location for a lot of apps that I won't use regularly since it might start using it in the background. Auto brightness is off and my brightness is always about half way or just under. Most other things are on like AOD. Not sure what else could have caused it.
It's always a good idea to check the battery graph page and see what apps are at the top of the list to figure out why your battery isn't doing well. Maybe it depends what you do on the phone too. For me it's mostly web browsing and watching videos.
Full charge in about 1 hour 15 minutes,
SOT averages on 4-5.5 hours
Standby drain is about 1-2% per hour
First few days I had about 2-3h SOT.
Now, after a week I am finally seeing 4 hours. Not very impressed. Only thing I have turned off is AOD and auto brightness. How people get above 5h is beyond me.
EDIT:
Wifi on all day, bad reception area and still 3h SOT with 50% battery left. Looks like the battery life is improving. Note that brightness was at about 20-30%

Best I've gotten so far. Very impressed after a terrible start with the battery life.
Hi guys, I have phone 7 days now and at the atart the battery was quite bad, but now it somehow improved.. I browse web a lot and watch youtube.. Mixed usage of WiFi and 4G. With those numbers I think I could get 7 hours SoT. I was thinking that I will switch the phone for plus version, because of thr battery, but I like the small factor of regular 9. So Im quite happy, that battery is improving after a week. Im on exynos version.
This is what I'm getting on my S9 (SD 845). Picked it up on Friday so have had it for a little over 48 hrs.
https://imgur.com/a/nfeCR
How are you guys getting over 5 hours of SOT and full day of use?
My phone drains 15-19% per hour with the screen on. At night while I'm sleeping the phone drains 1.5% per hour but during the day I'm seeing 4-6% battery drain with the screen off.
I'm using AOD, no battery saving, auto brightness, Location/Scanning on, Bluetooth on, wifi on but only if screen is on or charging.
Coming from my Oneplus 5, I'm getting around maybe half to 1/3 of the battery life of my old phone.
Will the phone get better battery life soon? Seems like everyone else is reporting terrible battery life the first few days.
Should I just throw this garbage away?
Sick of this sh*t. AOD off, WQHD+ Medium Brightness Exynos.
as expected
2nd day, and got 6hrs sot. that's with setting up the phone, taking a lot of photos at a friend's wedding and posting on Instagram, watching YouTube, trying out different themes, downloading and listening to songs on Spotify, having GPS with multiple Uber rides, AOD on, and group messaging throughout. not as good as my previous S8+, but about what I expected with the smaller battery. this is on Snapdragon, without battery saver, and always on entertainment mode.
I've had it for about 5 days and so far haven't seen SOT of longer than 3 hours. Starting to regret selling my S8+ now. I was getting 4-6 hours with that, and 500mAh shouldn't be that different. I have AOD on, HD res (not QHD), and just WiFi enabled, all other connections (NFC etc) off.
Been about 4 days on mine and have started to see 4 1/2 maybe 5 on sot. Similar to my old s8+.
What I did is fully charge and deplete battery to 0. Charge again to 100 and did trick for me.

very good even from the very first cycles.. I have gone through a whole day and a half now (35 hours from power disconnection), with average use, and still I have 41% battery juice left with already 5 hours sot.
sync on, BT off, gps off (just enabled it for about 1 hour) / most of the day on wifi (office and home) then 3G maximum when outside / no power saving modes enabled
....loving it!
bye bye ****ty s7, R.I.P., I don't miss you at all!
I have no idea how you are reaching those times...
I got just slightly more than a day with what most would consider light usage. That is to say a couple of youtube vids in the morning, 15 minutes of music on the way to work, then a couple of web searches and emails during the day and that's it, screen brightness almost to the minimum, BT off, high precision GPS off. Overall, android shows that the screen was on for about 3 hours total during the whole period.
With this kind of usage I would get more than 2 days and a half with the Z3c when it was brand new.

something is surely wrong there. I charged last night, after two whole days and more than 6 hours sot. with the same usage and apps, in my old s7 I used to do one day only and 3-4 hours sot maximum.
I didn't take any screens, but at the end of this cycle I will make screenshots (hopefully with same results! :fingers-crossed
I'm so impressed with the XZ2C & its battery stamina. Same apps as my Unlocked Galaxy S9+ (965U1) and it has superior battery performance. I'll post some screenies later.

even better this cycle.. mostly on WiFi.. and keep running..
Here is my battery snapshots from yesterday:
The little XZ2 Compact blows away my Unlocked Galaxy S9+ in terms of both standby and in-use battery performance.
Both phones have the same number of apps installed.
Both have display brightness manually set to 100% brightness first then Auto-Brightness turned On.
Both phones have these toggles turned on: Wifi, Mobile Data, Bluetooth, and NFC.
The XZ2C has Location set to Device Only and the GS9+ has Location to Off.
The GS9+ is always connected via Bluetooth to my Gear S3 Classic watch.
The GS9+ has AOD turned on 24/7.
I am getting much more reasonable battery times now. Perhaps my battery wasn't calibrated right and I had to do a few cycles.
anyone here that noticed any weird behaviour after the software update? mine always suddenly get warm and uses a lot of battery for no reason. it doesn't lock up or anything, but it get around 40 degrees celsius. the last time this happened to me it did this in the middle of the night when i was asleep. it went from 65% to 2% when i woke up. according to the battery stats of the phone it drained the phone in about 2 hours. Normally when this happens i usually restart the phone and it is stops for a while.
the strange thing is after it happened in the night, the usage is normal again with 37% battery now and 6 hours and 33m sot. device has been running for 1d 8h 53m now. location, wifi and bt are all on and about 99% of the time i am on wifi and 4g is active in the background for fast switching. i have mostly been reading some novels online with firefox and ad blockers (the website has a very battery consuming video ads that can't be clicked away and ads that stay on the bottom of the screen without any way to click it away.
I´m really not in love with this battery. There is good standby behavior, indeed, but if you woke up snapdragon, battery would drain awefully. In total, battery behavior at most is average.
I usually get about 3 - 4 days of battery time with normal use. Best battery time I ever had so far on an Android, and without root, debloating and tweaking nevertheless I always have "data saving" (or what is called in English) turned on though, and tweaked lots of app not to use mobile data, or less anyway.
depending of use type
without net use
and 5x calls per days i reach 5 days without recharging
with few net surfing and few long calls per day
i reach 2 (full) days
note that i have blocked all underground/background data exchange off any apps
6 hours SOT consistently.
Satisfied overall.
Roughly 11.5 hours of screen-on time, with Wi-Fi and mobile data on, with about 1 hour of YouTube streaming. Screen was generally quite dim.
Coming from my HTC 10 that got 3.5 hours of SoT at the best, 11.5 hours is like wearing brand-new spectacles after having severe myopia.
The battery percentage indicator at the top right simply refuses to decrease over normal usage. I love the XZ2 Compact.
I trully dont understand what happend here, i had 2 normal to low usage days with one fully charge, in class charger for one and half hour or so, then 60% of batery was drain out on the drive home(bluetooth on and conected to car)
Anyone has knowledge of how this can hapen?
Battery is like a hammer. Yes and that was on my Xz1c. I think that Snapdragon and Sony soft is better for now. Better than everything else. I had s8 and Samy was
eine grosse katastrofe.

I'm still trying to find the best battery across all phones.
I heard this and G7 Power are best 5000mah battery but your usage pattern still isnt that heavy right?
Can you try this test to run any like
"always-screen-on graphic test like photorealism 2018 free on google play with 50% brightness.
Let the phone run from 100% > 0% on battery?
I doubt if it can pass 6 hrs mark (Super Heavy App)
11 hours SOT on first charge with two Sims, internet on, few hours of WiFi. Looks like it can survive for two days with normal usage. Only concern is how long battery can keep performing like that.
Only Playing 3D games/Running 3d Graphic counts

in continuous hours eat up the battery (SOT)
other tasks like youtube/browsing/surfing/playing offline local video do not affect the battery at all right?

I mean that my concern is about overall battery life in terms of negativity. How many months or years the battery will keep performing like this before its dead. Because these days replacing batteries is not easy task, neither the genuine batteries are available after certain period of time.
I have four years old Moto X 2nd gen, that is still perfectly fine and still has lot of juice left in it. But battery died and I couldn't find a working battery. Had to replace with a Chinese make battery which is not performing well. I just had to buy One-Power becasue of the dead battery of my Moto X.
I am not in favor of generating unnecessary e-garbage.

Standby drain

When you sleep, does your phone sleep, or does it stay up all night and crunch 1s and 0s? Rate this thread to express how you deem the speed at which the OnePlus 7 Pro's battery drains under standby conditions. A higher rating indicates that when the phone is not in use, the battery drains minimally.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
No one has mentioned it yet so I thought I left a comment.
Standby drain is great. Less than 1.0%/hr in my use case. (AccuBattery: 103h)
Have had Samsung Exynos phones before which had extremely bad standby drain, the Xiaomis I have/had have a lot better standby drain but not as good as my OP7 Pro
I'm seeing between .3% and .8% drain when idle. I think it depends on if I'm listening to music or YouTube vids with the screen off or it's just truly idle doing nothing.
Yesterday I left my phone with 85% over night, nearly all connections turned on (Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC) and 6 hours later I was down to 82%. Didn't expect that. I love it!
Over all stand by time isn't to bad, but usage of the phone isn't very yet. I've only had the phone for two days and I'm noticing heavier battery drain then from my note 9 the 845 processor. Going to give a few more days and see. All in all I like the phone. Just my thoughts
Sent from my GM1915 using Tapatalk
Well, the standby is pretty nice, according to me it drops like 2-3% overnight leaving Wi-Fi, Bluetooth on. I previously had a OnePlus One, running POSP (4-6 hr SOT) so it feels great upgrading.
It's about 0.5% per-hr for me overnight and 1% during day. Much better than my last phone with far less spec but has a ton of bloatware.
I read a lot of complaints about battery drain in OnePlus' Chinese forum but I think it's all due to unscrupulous apps by companies like Tencent and Baidu who continuously track and steal user info because I also have HydrogenOS but thanks to Oneplus I was able to completely uninstall all those apps.
I have to say standby drain is great. Coming from pixel 3 on busy work days, I barely used my phone outside of phone calls and Waze to and from work. I would get home always under 50% and be dead by 10pm. It's currently 1am and I am still at 44% on op7 pro.
Standy drain is good. It's dropping few percents over night but it's not like 1% or more per hour. More like a 0.5%/h. Even during the day with 4g data enabled its really ok. I'm very pleased with it, definitely better than my old Galaxy S6 Edge Plus which was more and more inconsistent with new updates

Mine drops on average 1.7% per hour according to AccuBattery. I do a lot of YouTube streaming with the screen of though.
Hi,
I have had the OP7Pro for over 3 days now and I think the battery has settled after the initial indexing and setup. The phone was kept overnight at 52% at 10:30 pm and today morning at 6 a.m. it was down to 36% which about 16% drain over 7.5 hours. I don't have a lot of apps running in the background except for Gmail, Whatsapp, weather and normal google services. Is it normal to see such a drain? Or, do I need to need to wait for another 3 or 4 charge cycles for the battery/ system to really settle down?
Amit
Pretty good idle about 0.3 per hr
As always on this kind of threads I see wonder numbers.
I get 0.7%/hr which isn't bad at all, but it's far from 0.3. I am on EX kernel, no other tweaks.
around 2-3% an hour on standby. Got the usual apps (snapchat, instagram etc, no Facebook tho)

My device has abt 5% drop over night but that's cause of Instagram and WhatsApp notifications running in the background, otherwise it's standby time is grt
Battery life also depends upon the cellular signal in your area
Lower signal mean more battery sucking
The most I have seen mine drop overnight is 5-6%, with Bluetooth on an Wireless off. I have had the T-Mobile OnePlus 7 Pro for about a month now and have messed with settings and even tried flashing the international version.
9.5.9.GM31CB - T-Mobile Firmware seems to provide the best battery life for me.
9.5.10.GM21AA - International Firmware saw more drain, idle and with usage.
Pretty impressed. 3rd day of ownership, not rooted get. Gm1917 on WiFi. 40% battery yeilded me over 6 hours sot.

4-6h SOT with 120Hz adapative and QHD+ (adaptive)
Drains a bit faster compared to my P20 Pro, but performance is outstanding
Yeah, I'm on average usage. Max can get 4.5 hours SOT only. With fhd+ 120hz
i'm very worried about it now... i haven't done 3-4 cycles yet (2nd at the moment), but i'm on 4-5 hours sot with mostly being on wifi at the moment.. which is worrysome.
I get about 3-5h with Resolution and refreshrate at adaptive
Yup that sounds about right. I'm on mobile data today. 2.5h sot with only 20% left.. So I'm returning the phone end of this month
.A24 increased it to 5-7h SOT for me
Full Res. and 120Hz. Heavy usage. Great Battery [emoji106]

According to the reviews, first couple of days the battery endurance is sub-par/average because the phone learns your habits and adapts slowly.
After a week or so you should be getting better results.
I'll report the stats when I get mine, should be soon.
Second run just under 50% battery web usage YouTube Instagram .. seems decent

Global , no battery saver mode either.
You should not drain your phone to single digit numbers. Don't also charge beyond 85%.
This is what Battery Scientists say.

You might be right , however how realistic is it do as suggested in the real world ??
Is that something you practice yourself ?
If I were to do that I would be wiping the best part of 2 hours sot of my device which is impractical.
