On par with other Android phones. But Sony should think like Nokia for manual mode.

Mine is about to be set up. Does anyone know if it has always on display and is there any other way to wake the phone

Software is awful. So 2014. No night mode. No raise to wake or ambient display. Also camera is the worst out there in this price range. Too much grain, too much detail loss, unsharpening everything, oh god...
Those little things makes the software and user experience. For me, xz1 is a failure and as always, sony will improve their next gen phones, and let the others die in shame.

after using It for almost a month, I can say it is fetureless piece of crap and although it is almost all stock it lags like hell. I regret swapping my oneplus 5.

Unfortunately the camera app is a real annoyance if you are in the wrong country.
I traveled to Japan which has the restrictions to always have a shutter sound seemingly. So the option to disable it was gone after logging in a Japanese provider.
Now I was that annoying foreigner standing in a nice quite place making terrible noise while taking pictures...despite everyone else didn't.
Okay I know it is the law. But do they have to turn the volume to maximum for it?
Even more annoying is using the panorama mode. Because it will make a shutter sound for EVERY picture it takes whilst. And thats several per seconds. So suddenly you turn into a machine gun photographer.
Imagine doing that in a temple or museum...
Couldn't be more embarrassing. I had to cover the speaker as best as possible to quiet it down.
The builtin Nokia Camera app is an utter disgrace, compared to what back.rider555 showed is possible on that hardware with his gcam port.

I cannot find wi fi calling on it yet.
Any help would be great.
Overall, I love the camera, but it has a few issues to iron out. Thankfully, LG decided to keep the ability to zoom with the shutter button. The precision of it's motion combined with the subtle haptics make it feel almost mechanical. There are thoughtful little details like that throughout. It feels really special to use.
The toolset is robust, with lots of options. There's a bit of learning to get the most out of it, but well worth the effort. I especially love the "Graphy" learning tool in the manual camera, it intuitively teaches what the settings do and how to use them.
Overall, it's awesome, but I just got seriously annoyed discovering that the flash won't work after the battery drops below 15%. For such a serious creative tool, this feels like an arbitrary oversight. After I spend all day searching for good shots, I don't want to be denied a few more when there is plenty of power. I can run the flashlight as long as I like, but it refuses to blink for a second when I really need it. It's silliness like that that make people say this phone is 'just ok'. The inability to mute the shutter sound doesn't help either.

My software
Bought the phone for my mother (40 yo), it lags so much that it's barely usable. On incoming calls the screen turns black and reveals who's calling after about 5-10 seconds. If I had known that it would be that bad, then I'd rather go for pre-owned OG Google Pixel. Don't buy this phone unless you get an exceptional deal and planning on rooting it to remove all the Googleware.

Camera quality is very bad
Can you elabaorate? I haven't had any issues with the quality, both in Auto and Manual mode. Yes, there's a bit of a pink-ish hue in the middle in low light but apart from that, I was able to take surprisingly nice photos with this phone. And for the camera app itself, it crashes after shooting a timelapse and you stop the post-processing but that's about it.
I also disagree. The camera is quite good. Especially when you take pictures at night. No function in manual mode has failed me.
Maybe a little bit of speed.
It's pure Android so everyone knows what to expect. Now version 10.
I like it very much, that is why i've bought it, have no complains.

Samsung's camera app is pretty good. There are lots of features available but it's easy to just point and shoot, and in most cases this gives good results. The 'best shot' feature advises where to point the camera for the best results in the current scene and what angle to use. It is basic but very clear and helpful, especially if you are giving it to someone else to snap a picture for you.
This phone also has the option to turn on the small front screen which lets the subject see a little of what you're seeing. Again, a bit of a gimmick but a nice touch.
I have nothing to add, your comment is ideal, thanks a lot!
