Overall speed - Sony Xperia XZ1 Real Life Review

Would you say that the Sony Xperia XZ1 is "fast" in day-to-day use? A higher rating indicates that you think the Sony Xperia XZ1 exhibits fantastic performance. Like, is it as fast as your tears when you watch The Titanic?
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Set the Animation scale in Dev option to 0 and it feels like the speedest tel. ever.

Agree. I previously had a z5 (810) and it had some minor slowdowns(Stock Nougat).Maybe due to the temperature control. The xz1 is fast imo and only gets a Bit warm.

No problems with the speed so far. Its just as fast as other snapdragon based phones and would be even more so for games/emulation due to the lower resolution screen (1920x1080) in comparison to the quad hd's in the galaxy s8 and others.

Fastest Device I have ever had, and I have had many! Also, it outpaces the pixel and Iphone 7 & 8, from my personal tests against co-workers devices. It's shockingly fast I actually wrote a review on Amazon. I was so shocked, I had to tell the world. LOL. FYI me settings are all apps restored (167 apps 27gbs used internal memory + 200gb Micro SD more than half filled with music, pics/vids). I'm honestly shocked at it's speed and it doesn't heat up much. My z5 would heat up like crazy to the point where it would slow down., XZ ran hot but kept on going without slowing, XZs got hot scarcely but never slowed.

Best Sony phone till date.. Awesome Battery backup.. Fluid in transition between apps or screen.

Xperia Play: The Best Phone Ever

Seriously! I'am amazed by the quality of this phone. It's not because i bought it. It's because i compared it to other phone Like Galaxy S and G1 and of course my HD
The phone is fast and reactive. The application i installed are very stable and works without problems.
And the Games are actually high Level despite those made from PS1 that sucks because of the limitation of the catalog. (I wait for games from Square Soft titles)
I tried Neogeo emulation and played with the pad. I can tell for sure that any move or combo can be performed easilly. Precision is almost like the PS3 Pad and much more better than the PSP.
In fact i completly forgot my PSP since i got this phone. I don't use it anymore...
Last thing I tried was using the pad to control the mouse of my PC with Teamviewer and it worked ! You can move accurately the cursor with the direction and use the X button to click /Double click. Of course other actions could be performed via the screen.
Great potential for this year, I just hope that Sony will keep updating the device frequently.

Antutu score 60000 not, but 91k how?

So i saw post hitting 60k here i am 91k.
As you already know z5 starts to trottle fast so it doesnt get hot and away from bench marking i am fine with that cuz it just works fine no lagor something. Before that with all latest updates i barrly hit 58k. Was disapointed but still phone is just ok, but i still wanted good bench score without tweaking kernel or to root it so what i did for good bench is i just put it into freezer till the antutu done its job so here i am with 91k.

I really think we can get similar results to snapdragon 820 but our main issue is the heat from our snapdragon 810 and also I've read somewhere that the true power of snapdragon 810 is locked because of the heat.
If u guys want a good user experience, just uninstall antutu.
The app drains ur battery and as an aside a benchmark doesn't tell u anything about real life usage so there's no real point of it.
I tried it a few times but even when the app haven't run for weeks it still drained my battery.

Worth upgrading to from a Nexus 5X?

Trust me, I really hate buying a new phone after this long (less than a year), but I have the feeling that this N5X's SD808 is going to commit suicide any day now. I got it for $200 in early January to replace an HTC One M7 and it worked alright at the time. However, my battery's been pretty bad lately and it's getting hot as hell whenever I'm doing things like browsing Instagram - I even did a factory reset a week ago. Also, the edges have turned an ugly yellow color and my volume up button has been broken for a week. I'd call it somewhat painful to use at this point. However, I like how reachable the corners of the screen are (I'm a small kid), and the camera has never failed to blow me away with HDR+ enabled.
I was recently drawn to the Essential phone when I saw that it took a $200 price cut, but I'm scared to pull the trigger after viewing reports of aggressive thermal throttling, poor scrolling performance, and a mediocre camera. I wanted to hear from some people who have made the switch and what your experiences are, and if there are any better devices with a similar or lower price point. Thanks
Hell yes

No complaining on my part. Totally satisfied. 5 hours screen time and as for camera, Im happy with it, especially with the Google port, takes nice pics. I do not regret buying it
Definitely worth it. Yes, the camera is sub par, but you already knew that. For $499 there is no reason to pass up Essential Phone.

At this price point or lower you won't find a more quality device with modern specs. Performance is butter. I've put this thing through hell and have had no problems at all. Definitely worth it.
Buy one .

Played with it for 20min

I thought the screen size compared to my 10 plus would be relatively indiscernible but it really looks quite bigger . Wierd.
I returned the s20U because of the camera issues especially with the main 108 megapixels. This phone completely nails it. I took pictures from all different angles and all different zooms and they were really superb.
Much as I love my 10 plus screen clarity the 20 Ultra really seems to top it.
Here's another weird thing I tested the speed of it on a speed test and it was 256 ms down.
then tested the 10-plus in the store and it was 489 ms down! I tested it twice the 10+: 400+ ms down.
What the hell's with that ?!

A speed test on what? The in store wifi? How did you connect your phone to the in store wifi for the devices on display?

Exactly, so many reasons this could be the case, even cases, phone orientation, is one on 2.4Ghz wifi and one on 5Ghz, if on 5G/LTE are they both on the same mode, etc.
I want someone to point the Note 20 Ultra camera at their current phone with a black background and white text to see if the "across the frame" focal uniformity issues that the S20 Ultra has - are fixed!
Never have I had a phone camera with a frustration level so high in being able to easily and quickly capture text on a computer screen before! I shouldn't have to use pro mode and MF and zoom and do best guess on peaking to hope it looks decent. Readable? Yes, but I'm used to text in photos looking like the original.
My lowly Nexus6 and Droid Turbo take better pics in this regard FFS! :-|

OPPO Find X5 Pro Unboxing (OPPO Ambassador)

Here's a quick look at unboxing the OPPO Find X5 Pro and initial first impressions of this Snapdragon 8GEN1 flagship phone.

The phone comes with a Super VOOC 80W charger that in my tests will charge the Find X5 Pro to 100% in around 37 minutes from empty. We also get a TPU case in grey, sim tray eject tool, premium services card, and type-A to type-c USB cable.
The finish of the Find X5 Pro is superb, the ceramic back especially the form of the camera module looks fantastic to me one of the best camera modules of recent Android flagships.
The QHD+ LTPO2 screen is super bright over 1000 nits measured, it holds up well in direct sunlight and is very legible.
A quick test of a very demanding console & PC port Genshin Impact shows the SD8Gen1 performs well, but a dip in performance was quite noticeable after gaming for extended periods. The surface thermals remained under 43 degrees as the phone was throttled to keep the temperatures in check.
ColorOS 12.1 runs is fluid with no noticeable animation lags unlike some other Android 12 phones tested like the S22 Ultra (Exynos) or Xiaomi 12 Pro.
Initial first impressions:
Pros:
Very good build and finish with a sleek looking camera module
Great low light camera performance thanks to the Marisilicion NPU and colour profile from Hasselblad
Stunning QHD+ screen and accurate fingerprint reader
Fast stable UI with no noticeable animation lag
One of the best ultrawide cameras tested
Cons:
Video audio is quite poor, OPPO needs to address this. Low bitrate of 96kbps
It's expensive at around 1300 euros here in Spain
Shutter lag in some scenarios means moving objects will be blurred
