Call for all ROM developers to use standard title format

With the ROM development picking up over the past few months for our lovely device I have seen alot of threads with a huge mixture of title formats, which frankly gets rather confusing, many do not include a data in the title so you cant be sure if your on the newest version in some cases.
So this is a plea for all ROM devs to change there title to the below format to make it much easier for users to read through the development section and sort through ROMs.
[ROM][DATE] [Name] [Version][KERNEL]
[ROM] of course meaning that your release is a ROM (this could be something else e.g kernel, mod etc.)
[DATE] must be in the [Day Month Year] format [DD MON YY] ie [09 SEP 11]
[Name] is of course whatever your ROM is called. Try to make it meaningful and unique
[Version] is the version of both your ROM and the ANDROID build. Please be specific.
[KERNEL] what Kernel your ROM uses. Please be specific.
e.g
[ROM][04 JUN 12] zacthespacks cm9 uber mod [V1 ICS] [CM9 Kernel]

[Q] How to build Paranoid Android from source

Does anyone have a recent or mako specific guide on how to build Paranoid Android builds, I'd like to cherry pick a few smaller features into the already powerful ROM.
Would following the OmniRom guide and basically replacing the Omni values with the correct Paranoid Android values work out? Or is there other specific stuff I need to do?
I've got Ubuntu 13.04 & currently building OmniRom whenever I see there's a bit of a decent update but other then that I'm pretty much a noob .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1863547
Basically just clone the PA source, add the mako specific stuff (kernel, device, and vendor from TheMuppets repo) and compile. If you have any other questions just ask in the thread a linked above.

[QUESTION] [REQUEST] Paranoid Android ROM

Hi to all,
I have been testing ROMs for the Redmi 2 Pro, a device I acquired recently and there is one ROM nobody has built: Paranoid Android.
So, this is a request to compile Paranoid Android for the Redmi 2 and, if there are no intentions to do it, is there a reliable source/help on how to build Paranoid Android? The only source I have found is here @xda, but the guide is for Paranoid Android 3.x and I considered it too old to start something.
PS: I'm experienced using Linux (+10 years), right now I am dual booting Debian Sid / Linux Mint 18 which must be fully-compatible with Ubuntu 16.04, I have compiled kernels for my personal computers but not for an android device.
Since you are willing to devote your time for this effort(thanking you, first of all)
this is the github repo of AOSPA(https://github.com/AOSPA)
this includes the manifest (https://github.com/AOSPA/manifest) which will help you to build a PA ROM
PM me for any further queries

What build from Huawei has a 4.x kernel, for my phone? +few questions

Hi,
So I have a VNS-L31 bought in France (Europe), not locked to a specific vendor for updates.
Actually I use LineageOS 14.1 self-built using a 3.10.x kernel (using Meticulus development files that I had to fork - like he removed his vendor repo and his latest commit in device repo is not buildable; see my Github repo and I don't give any rom or support for now).
I asked Huawei to get the kernel sources for the stock rom and I'd like to get the 4.x branch. The problem is they asked me a build number, but I flashed from Android 6 which uses 3.x, so I have no idea for what is this build number. I don't know what is the right build for EMUI 5 / Android 7 I could get/use. On the URL= http consumer huawei com /fr/support/mobile-phones/p9_lite_fr-sup htm ] official website [ /URL (in French) they do not offer a download option for this build (only Android 6 and a rollback package). And maybe this isn't even built using the 4.x branch?
And I don't know if I would get the same sources as in URL= https github com /OpenKirin/android_kernel_huawei_hi3650 ]this repo[ /URL.
Also, I'd like to know more of what's going on rom development for Android 7 (or 8). There do not seem that another LineageOS 14 port is going on, OpenKirin has only a recovery released as far as I know. Also, one or two other phones seem to use the same kernel, that are not other names for the P9 Lite, like the Honor 6X?
PS: I don't have any skill in rom porting, I sent a few emails to people that worked on this device, and I saw I'm really lacking of knowledge. Also, it would be one of my many side-projects.
Thanks for your help.

Noob question about compiling AOSP from source

Hi,
I want to learn more about Android kernel development so I'm trying to compile AOSP (Android 7) from source for my Nexus 7. I have prior experience doing Linux kernel development but the real hurdle for me is the Android build environment.
I have checked out android-7.1.2_r39 with the proprietary blobs for Nexus 7 and I've made it to the point where I need to choose a target.
However because I'm trying to compile Android 7, `full_grouper-userdebug` does not show up on the build target list when running `lunch`.
Is it enough to grab the /device/asus/grouper directory from a tree where it is included and add that to my AOSP tree or is there something else I need to do to compile Android 7 for this device?
