Latest Guide on Rooting ZTE AXON 7 - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

I really need help with rooting my ZTE Axon 7. I am on the latest software update and on Android 7.1.1. I would like to root my phone but I don't know where to get started or what to do exactly. Can someone please help me and send links or downloads to help me root my device? Thank you

You can't be serious? There are so many guides here on XDA and you ask such a question?

Actually it's not that simple...
You don't get to come here and ask for all of the work to be done for you. Otherwise it happens like with the Galaxy Grand 2, where the phone had a very good dev community but noobs with no interest on spending some time just ruined it to the point that literally only a couple of devs stayed and released CM14.
Also if you ask for someone to send you the exact guides that you need, you'll probably not read anything, and you'll get a beautiful DFU brick...
Do this: First do your homework. Memorize the model on the back of your phone, see if the software model matches the one on the back. As a tip, there are 3 models, the A2017, the A2017G and the A2017U. If you use a file that's not for your model you can start saying goodbye to your brick, or else you'll probably be days trying to fix it (or months like some people). Look at the problems that may come up when rooting and see the way to avoid those. Then look for a guide that suits your model. Download all the files, ensure that all of them work (you'll need Windows on a 64-bit PC), and THEN proceed.
If you have any doubts you can PM me or maybe the maker of the guide, but at least try to do something for yourself! I read more than 10 pages on the guide that I used just to see the problems that may arise and stuff like that. You also should be able to do that. And if you aren't, it's best that you don't try. This is not a Nexus device for you to write 'fastboot oem unlock' and basically finish unlocking the bootloader, this is MUCH more serious...

Use my toolkit: https://forum.xda-developers.com/axon-7/development/tool-axon7toolkit-t3573108
No need for any guides
Just make sure you read all the main posts as there a couple snags

Noob[Q] Rooting

Hi guyz
Please don't get angry, I know its a stupid question but don't want to take any risk, as I live in India and I won't be able to do anything if the phone gets spoiled / bricked.
Which is the most easy way and reliable of rooting the device?
Links to respective threads will be highly appreciated..
Cheers
Enjoy

Some guides go into more detail about certain things than others but the procedure to unlock the bootloader and root that they all describe is basically the same.
Also take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010338
It provides a lot of good information and also gives a brief run down of some of the basic fastboot and ADB commands.
You can always use one of the toolkits to root your phone but to me it's better to do it manually. You get a better understanding of how everything works and you're better prepared to deal with any issues that might arise.

Rooted using fast boot commands

Who's Unlocked & Rooted - Which method or tool did you use

Sitting on the Fence, wanting to but been so many years (Galaxy Nexus) since I've done this.
Are you unlocked & Rooted ? Which method did you use, how did it go ?
I've seen the "Toolkits" - Do I need drivers first ?
Please share your experience for us "Chickens"
Just use the sticky in this thread. Follow the directions exactly. Works fine.

Lotsa good information there for sure, but that's not what I was interested in.
I've read some stuff that makes me a bit concerned.
One persons phone won't boot now, coincidence that he unlocked the bootloader attempted Root ? Dunno.
Would be helpful to hear some actual experiences that's all ...

Just ignore him, he had troubles flashing firmware and now he tells everyone to stay on stock. We are on XDA lol
First of all, you have to unlock bootloader witch tutorial can be found on Guides subforum. It isn't difficult and you do not risk to brick your phone.
After you managed to unlock the bootloader, you have to install TWRP, you can find download and How to install it here:http://www.meticulus.co.vu/p/twrp-for-huawei-p9-lite.html?m=1
Then download RR and the latest Gapps Arm64 6.0 and follow the instructions from here:
http://www.meticulus.co.vu/p/hi6250-custom-rom-installation.html?m=1
Do everything is written, the procedure to flash RR is the same as CM.
Huawei devices are a little complicated with encryption stuffs so be sure to read carefully every single step of the tutorial. If you follow all the instructions you will not have any problem, good luck!

Telling on XDA to not flash a ROM is like to go in a church and tell "do not believe in God". (It is just an example, don't take it personally. I respect everyone's religion).
If someone ask how to flash a ROM/Mod it means that he is aware of the eventual risks. If you just want to say everytime "it's better to flash only official firmware/wait for OTA update", yeah you are surely right. But you must understand that lots of people want to flash custom ROMs and Mods and accepts the risk of having problems. These people are 99℅ of XDA community.
If you keep go around the forum to just tell people to not flash anything it's normal that we become a little rude. I hope you understand, have a good day.

Question with modding A2017G model

I am not new to the whole flashing and rooting process, did it for quite some time, but now reading about the A2017G version got me a bit scared, because I can't afford to lose the phone right now, and most of the methods are outdated or really unreliable. Please help with this problem, if you know a thread how to unlock bootloader and get root with clear instructions then link it please, and if it requires downgrading, because I am on 7.1.1., please also link how to do that, because I never did it.

WARNING: Some A2017G devices may be PERMANENTLY bricked when flashing packages through EDL mode due to slightly different partition tables. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I got my axon 7 on friday, I rooted it within 30 minutes after getting home with it
I used the toolkit and it worked very well, I have the 2017G version, unlocked, bought in Romania.

Lol everything is that way here. I 'permanently bricked' mine after I rebooted it without a system, it didn't even show the ZTE screen. Got it to life with a screwdriver and patience
Or use controllerboy's guide, which you could've used all along without even asking here
In other words, either take the plunge or stay stock. There's no 100% safe way to do this, there are a bunch of people who brick their phones while following the guides, and they brick them for no apparent reason as they were doing everything right
Mine has personal and work SIM so don't want to compromise it's use at all.

Samsung s8 rooting advice needed pls

Hi, I have a samsung galaxy s8 SM-G950F running on Exynos octa 8895. Bootlaoser is G950FXXU5D5FB boot laoder. I was in a traffic accident last year and lost my leg, broke my back and neck, pelvis, arm and 6 ribs and ended up in a coma. My memory has been trashed and I really need to root my phone in order to be able to record my calls as a matter of urgency.
I need have seen many threads on the forums on how to do this but as I read through the many comments I notice that there are issues with all of the methods explained. I wonder if anyone knows a link to a current and correct root method for my phone. I cannot afford to brick it and the last phone I rooted was a samsung galaxy S4, which was pretty easy compared to what I have read for the S8. Alternitavely, a better option for me would be to get someone else to do it as my brain does not work as it used to since my accident. I know one click root methods are to be avoided but I read on oneclickroot site that they will do it for a charge but I am dubious about this. Does anyone know a rooting genius who could do this for me?
I would be very grateful for any links to the latest correct root method is or contacts for anyone who would do this for me. I have read the most recent comments on xda forums for this root instructions but they seem to say that the thread should be taken down as it is no longer valid or working.
This is the link that has comments in the last few pages saying it should now be closed. It is also not very clear to follow for me either.

i edited the quote to the sake of brevity
dont freak out about the FRP lock in the link provided above my post, but its what sammy has done most recently to help avoid people stealing phones then using them. Anyways, you have to go into the bootloader and toggle the factory unlock tab. Once that is done, youll see a few files in the post that youll need to flash, one to keep the FRP from re-engaging, and the other is TWRP. Once you flash TWRP, it should be pretty self explanatory, but you will see a ton of stuff in that post thats red, underlined, has arrows pointing to it etc etc, but the vast majority of it is just the FRP lock which can be a huge PITA
Thank you for your help. Sorry I havent replied till now, I've been back in hospital with no internet.
