Android 8.0 Oreo - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Given the fact that we barely got Nougat on our phones, do you think that the P9 Lite will get Oreo from Huawei?

I think we will. Have no that much of sure though

Nope, we won't be getting Oreo.
2 major updates for flagship
1 major update for mid-rangers

We'll have custom roms of 8.0 later this year , so be patient

Fake and gay. Seriously p8 lite expected? They didn't even receive a nougat so this article is a pure bull****.

We will have oreo on P9 lite. i bet my shoes.

Huawei struggled to bring nougat on our devices and it's still rolling out updates. Need I say more?

Despite the fact that it has sold a lot, the p9 lite is a mid-ranger device nonetheless. I will be happy if it gets it, don't misunderstand me, I just want to be realistic and not get disappointed when it obviously won't get an Oreo update but hey, you never know. Fingers crossed everyone!

We have to get but we wont
P9 lite is still in the 2 years where oems have to give updates out meaning they HAVE TO roll oreo out for our phpne but the wont gonna or atleast i think p9 lite mini and p9 lite 2017 will get it thats about 90% and above but our phone is fifty-fifty

But we should get it with lineage os 15 so yeah

updates are not the same as upgrades, and they only had to give 1 upgrade, which we got with android nougat.

No oems have to give upgrades for 2 years and updates for 3 years so 2 upgrades per phone or it should be

most oems promise 1 upgrade, and 2 year support. and that's it. i believe huawei gives less support for their budget line, like the lite series.

Well its nvm now huawei confirmed the late 2016 phones like the p9 series and mate 7-8 will get emui 5.1 and maybe android 7.1.1 or 7.1.2 but emui 5.1 will be the last upgrade and the android might stay at 7.0 so were staying with linos and the lite series is not the only budget phone the whole P series is a budget phone

I actually have not really followed Oreo and it's feature set. Has anyone played around on it yet? Is there anything cool to get excited about in Oreo vs Nougat?
I'm pretty sure the brilliant modders will make a plan and bring custom Oreo ROMS out later.

Android N ROMs

Android N ROM for Huawei P9 just leaked and it looks awesome. I don't think that we'll receive 7.0 oficially, but we got a fairly active modding community. My question is, how possible it will be to port this (or P9 Lite's) ROM to our phone?

there is nothing official here but i see the p8 lite in the list , take a look at huawei section: link

There's nothing We can do before Huawei releases the official version, because the API Level has changed and the propietary libraries that We have, are not compatible. Oh, and don't forget about the incomplete, non-functional kernel that they released for Marshmallow. Don't even try and wait for Huawei (if they ever release it)
Here the translation for the shown site:
Huawei in recent years has fought his way to the best selling smartphones in the world and therefore we need not wonder that his task in the update you will want to perform consistently. Although the update officially confirmed for any of your models is more than certain that among the first to receive the update as smartphones :
Huawei P9
Huawei Mate S
Huawei Mate 8
Huawei P8
Huawei P9 Lite
Huawei P8 Lite
1
Thats freaking amazing, I can't wait for EMUI 5.0 . Even though we've just recently received the Marshmallow update (which is amazing), im looking forward for the next update that may come in the future. Also if it really happens, I'm more than happy to keep support huawei and purchase huawei devices in the future.
I hope my P8 Lite gets the update. I k ow it's on the list but that doesn't mean for certain. Hope so.

EMUI 5 beta based on Android N For Honor 5C release date

According to official sources, the latest EMUI which is based on Android N named EMUI 5 will be released by the end of this December 2016 in India (for Nem-L22 variant). It will be released as a beta for limited users and after testing and bug fixes, the public release is expected to happen in January or February 2017. Already ,honor has released Emui 5 for Honor 8 ,which is the flagship smartphone of the brand. Next the expected devices to get updates to latest emui include Honor 7,Honor 5c and Honor 5x. The happy news is Honor 5c is next in the list and also They have also made clear that their older devices like Honor 6,6+,4c,4x will not recieve anymore upgrades to Emui 5 ,but will recieve normal security patches in the coming months.
Its worth waiting i believe. The new loaded emui is full of loaded features, worth waiting!:good::fingers-crossed:
Update: There is an intermediate release named B150 which is found on huawei servers. It is supposed to be the last in list of Android M. But still the date of Emui5 release is not yet confirmed and expected to happen in January.
I have honor 5c nem-l21 and în 5-6 month i not get even 1 single update/upgrade or security update.

As far as I know , which I heard from honor devs , internal computability testings are going on with 5x and 5c . So far things with 5x are not going fine which stands less chances for 5x.. Still we can expect the release which is not guaranteed

Its still in doubt brother.. i have seen a leaked changelog out there by one of the guy in Honor beta group in facebook. After that i contacted one of the officials and he said there can be one update ,he himself is not sure. The thing is B140 is not at all a stable build with lots of issues and since its the last build in emui 4.1.x , they need a somewhat stable one. Usually honor adjusts the last build of every emui version with almost stable one,so that there is a smooth running even if someone downgrades.

in my opinion emui 5 and android 7 is just fine. sure there would be nice to have equalizer, but 3rd party apps do that for me(poweramp). theme is pretty much fine but dark mode would be nice (could be added to developer options via OTA?). havent realized any bugs or battery draining on my L21. powersaving mode actually works (turns 10% slower atleast on antutu).

you cannot port emui, its complicated and its not open sources to build either..
and in case of emui6, os will be based on android o , and for porting android o, so to port an android o rom, first you need a stable android o base (any other stable android o rom built for your device)
so, if emui6 not coming officially, just forget about it and do not expect, so you cannot be disappointed, because unofficial ways are nearly impossible
I think the hardware is the same so it should be possible to just change one or two things and flash it.

And I wish they don't, and release full source instead
Oh, another Honor 8 - Oreo topic! How helpfull !!!
Emui 8 is based off Android 8.0 yes. So this means we should be getting 8.0, otherwise it wouldn't be emui 8 it would still be emui 5 with emui 8 stuff ported over.

Nope. It was previously stated by official sources that some EMUI8 features could be brought to Honor 8. Mentioning "some features" and omitting Oreo 8.0 doesn't require a PhD to get the right message.
You don't need the Oreo to get SOME features and the look of the skin. But certainty is only achieved at the release time.

Are you on something? Cus just cus they bring over emui 8 stuff doesn't mean it's emui 8. I was clearly stating that just cus they bring over emui 8 stuff doesn't make it emui 8 smh.
Honor said before that upgrade plans doesn't mean it's the same in a different country, basically everywhere in Europe, Honor is still in testing of the Honor 8 gets Oreo, Honor India said that they will get ported features, now here we see that the Honor 8 is in a list for getting Oreo 8. Where is the problem? If the Chinese one gets Oreo, fine, we can rebrand and get Oreo as well, also it makes development for a custom rom even easier which then should work for every device since everyone has the same specs (apart from the storage options 32 or 64gb).

Lol Sorry
They have stated that it's EMUI 8 only because they want the EMUI version to align with Android 8. I suspect we'll get EMUI 8 or most of it but we won't get Oreo.
EMUI 8 = Android 8, so if it says its 8 we will get Oreo, i dont think porting stuff to N is worth the additional work
They mean we wont get AI functions, thats the lack of system. Treble is still unknown.

IMHO, If so, I suppose it would be a backport, in a EMUI 5.0.x version, such as 5.1 features backported to 5.0.1 we got earlier.
It would be a bad move, I think no one cares, here, about emui, we only care about treble
Honor 8 is in fact getting the update!!

Does Project Treble mean a higher possibility of Android P on P10 Lite?

As far as I know, the Android 8 update on P10 Lite has Project Treble support. If so, does this mean we'll likely get Android P on our devices? I mean, I guess this is why Huawei added Treble support on our devices, right?
