Question for Essential phone owners - Essential Phone Questions & Answers

Hello, Please can you tell me if this phone has an indicator light for SMS or missed calls? Thx. Will get it if it does.

Yes, it has a notification LED up by the ear piece. It's been shown in multiple review videos.

Make LED blink every Sec ????

hi all !!
How to make XDA EXEC LED to blink every sec for any missed calls and reminders. I couldnt find the exact registry key. I felt its better to ask the experts here. hope someone can help me.
Thnxs!!
bump
Not sure, but i think it's this one:
HKCU/ControlPanel/Notifications/Default/
Change 'Duration' from 5 to 1
I am confused about your question. Why use the registry hack? You can set those notifications under settings>sound and notifications. Just check the box and set it to "NO LIMIT".
The LED light will only stop blinking orange if you delete or respond to the notification on the screen.

I think the OP is referring to the frequency of the LED rather than the duration, presumably so you can tell if you've missed an event/call at a glance rather than a stare

Thats what i really trying to do..I dont want to stare at LED to see if i have missed any event or calls. Instead if the frequency of blinking is changed, you can note the missed event quickly even if you are busy doing something.
when green and orange blinking frequency is different you can catch the missed call/event very quickly.

I thought the duration was the time between flashes (frequency)
But hey... what do i know
Ohhhhhhh. Got it. Nice idea, but it might be battery draining if left unoticed.
Yes battery will drain quickly. do anyone know how to do it ??

I much doubt it would drain much battery at all tbh
1- it's just an LED - these typically don't gobble much power at all - certainly compared to the backlight, sound and radio functions.
2- it would only be blinking like mad from the time you've missed an alert/call/text to the time you've dismissed it.
I don't know how to go about doing it but now that I think about it, this would be a great enhancement. Any thoughts from the gurus?

Notification Light

Is there a way to set the notifaction light to blink orange like all the other htc phones with an incoming text or email? I cant find the setting.

Not currently. I started a thread about having the backlight turn on when a message is received. I think this should be the same.
another thing google needs to fix ASAP!
I want the damn light to turn on when I get a message (screen)

I just noticed my battery like is down to 12% the notification light, isn't blinking at all.
Even with Bluetooth or wifi on my light does not blink blue. Weird.
I wonder if this is included in Androids "memory saving" feature. *Since the Android will self close apps in the background when it needs more memory. I don't know.
green blink
I just sent a txt to myself. light blinks green... cool!
Doesn't the light normally blink green, in stand-by mode?

The light doesnt blink as others cell phones do. The only time the light blink is when there is something in the notification bar. Test it out...
blue led?
I have yet to see the blue light just green orage and red...
anybody seen a blue led on a g1?
I think there's only one LED on the G1, and it's a red/green one (that looks yellow when both sides are energized.)

I think it is four sided. Red, Orange, Green, and Blue
I have seen green and red LEDs mix before... and this doesn't look like that.

Standby led?

Does any standby led flash on your own devices?
There is a led beside earpiece but it never flashes.
Read your user manual. The so called led beside the earpiece is a light sensor and not an led.
The stndby led does not flash unless u have a missed call or sms.
The LED is in the Power button, which flashes when you have a Missed call/sms/email in green, or flashes red when the battery is low, or stays red when charging.

Yes, I found it, thanks.
However, it only functions when charging the battery. It doesn't flash upon missed calls or sms...

goto settings > alarms and notifications and make sure the tick box is marked against LED. Also you can state the length of time you want it to flash.

Is it visible under daylight?
Or do we really have to be in a dark room to see the LED flashing?

No, you don't have to go to a dark room to see it... but it's tiny...
i wonder why they didn't place it somewhere on the front of the device...

[Q] LED

Hey just a quick question... the Charging LED on the front of the Surround thats green when charged and red/orange while charging... will this also flash for notifications such as new texts etc or is it only for charging...
I don't believe so. I haven't seen mine do this, although that would be a nice hack to work on.
The only time I've ever seen it flash is when I have a voicemail. It flashed green during this.

Notification LED

Not sure if anyone noticed, when I am using skype calls I see a red LED in the left corner of the earpiece.
Would be great if this LED is used for missed calls or messages notifications.
That is not an led afaik
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App

that's the proximity sensor
Well I think it's possible by the lights on the two sensor switches, Back and Option switches, they do have light on them, so I think there should be an application which will allow to glow them in case of a Missed event.
Yes, BLN, but therefore a kernel-mod is required, and this is not done yet-
