As far as I know, Verizon is using the N900V on their network which requires CDMA band.
I bought a SM-N900W8 from Telus Canada and after having it unlocked, I was unable to have it registered under my Verizon account.
So, not wanting to pay the outragious roaming price that we have from our greedy Canadian Carriers, I purchased an AT&T Pay as you GO sim card.
TaDa!!!!
This is due to the use by Verizon of CDMA band which isn't supported by most Canadian Cellphone that requires at least WCDMA OR LTE/GSM Band.
So, if you're planning to travel the USA and are looking to get an American SIM Card, most likely, verizon will not be an option for you (they're expensive anyway)
AT & T and T - mobile supports the GSM as far as I know.

Wondering if the Sprint version will work on Verizon? She has an iPhone so I know it works on Verizon and vice versa wondering if the v20 has the correct CDMA radios

No, the Sprint model has ddifferent CDMA 850 MHz bands than the Verizon model.
an iPhone comes with all bands supported, so that it why they can pretty much be used on any network.
I wish LG would have done the same thing with the V20 instead of having a half dozen models.
Dammit the note 7 had all the band's on all the different carriers as well. Being that they are both 820 snaps I figured it was the same
Can you use an unlocked T-Mobile S7 on Sprint? I'm not sure if it has all the bands (CDMA & LTE) to be compatible. Would you need to flash Sprint firmware or is it simply not doable.
not possible cause it doens't have CDMA internals. CDMA phones on the other hand can, cause they have both CDMA and GSM internals.

Well, because it is unlocked, you CAN use it on Sprint, BUT you can only use it on LTE. Because it doesn't use CDMA, you won't have 3G and below. This is problematic in spots where you don't get LTE because you will instantly drop to no signal.
What about an AT&T S7 Edge? Would it work on Sprint? Model # SM-N935A?
All of the US S7 variants are exactly the same hardware-wise, meaning they all support CDMA.
You could flash the U firmware on it but you won't be able to activate it on Sprint becuase it is neither an original Sprint or an original U variant unit and hence isn't in their white list of allowed devices on their network.
I checked the LTE frequency compatibility with ALL US networks and noticed it's not 100% compatible with ANY of the carriers. It has zero CDMA compatibility and for T-Mobile 3/4 LTE bands are supported. 2/4 for ATT. I was going to buy this phone because it was closest to root but after reading this IDK if I will.
Can some American users chime in?
Say I got a Samsung S8 from Xfinity Mobile(Verizon Network), get unlock code from XM, can I use this phone in Cricket (AT&T GSM network). Samsung support said it is ok, but from some threads it mentioned XM Samsung phone, even after unlock, some band will be locked, may not be used on other carrier. Any one tried before?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work just fine. The only thing I can see would be certain carrier features not working. But otherwise should be fine
Verizon and anything related to it uses CDMA technology. Whereas Cricket uses GSM.
GSM phones can be unlocked and switch carriers, whereas CDMA carriers use network-based white lists to verify their subscribers. That means you can only switch CDMA phones with your carrier’s permission.

However, if your phone is already unlocked, you can simply insert a Cricket sim card and try to place a call and use the data to see if it works.
Thanks, understood difference between GSM & CDMA, I read other place saying all the Samsung S8 sold in US are same hardware with different firware, as long as I got unlock code from Xfinity Mobile, then I can flash phone to the new carrier specific firmware(AT&T or Cricket - which is using ATT network), can anyone confirm?

S8 has all frequencies for both GSM and CDMA. All S8s are identical hardware wise.

You are correct.
Don't think Xfinity SGS8 will work with GSM.
I believe it will only work with other carriers on CDMA like Sprint.

At worse you have to change CSc to unlock band I have s8 Xfin unlocked and it works on att sim i know didnt look to see what bands I did see certain bands locked in hidden menu but also connected to the same locked bands on 3g

So if I was to get SM-G950 US Unlocked from retailer it should work on both GSM/CDMA.

I can't guarantee it as in the past phones have been difficult to switch between Sprint and Verizon. Verizon's will work on all but Sprint based. And vice versa. But by in all theory yes all the us based models have exact hardware. And should be able to be flashed to each carrier with the csc change thread. The if anything a byop. But the best bet would be to take it once unlocked to which ever carrier and have them Install one of there active Sims and see off it works for sure.
Again shouldn't be any issues other than a few change

Depends on sub-model you get. If your phone is the N950U it has the following 2G bands: GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 & 3G bands: HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700(AWS) / 1900 / 2100 & CDMA2000 1xEV-DO. So theoretically a Galaxy Note 8 model N950U WILL work on ALL networks provided that your phone is unlocked from the carrier branded N950U. If you look at the model of the phone on the back cover it will say N950U on it. N950F does not do CDMA (Verizon & Sprint), The N950FD is the same as the N950F but the "D" means dual nano sim capable (one for each girl/guy).
