S voice is dead starting from the galaxy s8. It is (or will be in the very near future) replaced by Bixby that has its own button below the volume keys and doesn't need to use the home button at all.

Once I have the google bar in desktop I see no usage for long press in home button for same function so in my S7 Edge I had S Voice to pull contacts for example.
Never tried Bixby as it's not available in my language.

I get what you're saying. But it is what it is.
As a side note, the home button no longer brings up Google now cards or search, like the search bar on the home screen. Now it's set to call up Google assistant, for what it's worth. I personally use its voice feature only for alarms, reminders and fact searches.

Just downloaded bixby. Should be out for everyone today. See if it scratches your itch. [emoji4]

Bixby is not available in many languages now but out and available to every one, so I think svoice has made its time now it will be more useless as it was until now. Bixby seems very promising and much more complete and advanced as every other voice assistants I think

Galaxy S6, S6 Edge(+) Missing menu button SOLVED! (well an easy work around) =)

Here is the temp fix guys the problem is a lot of apps detect if there is a hardware menu button and omit showing the soft 3 dot button common in a lot of apps. The S5 has no dedicated menu button but it does have the long press home button option to launch the More options/Menu button, however out Galaxy S6 models do not have this option. BUT some apps still detect it and delete their in app button.
Here is the fix I figured out that works in this situation and it would be good to pass this on or write up a document.
Go to phone settings => Accessibility => Dexterity and interaction => Assistant Menu.
At the top right slide the off button to on to enable the Assistant menu icon on all screens. Then click on the Edit option. In the edit menu deselect all the buttons you do not need by hitting the red negative on the icons (-) in the upper part of the screen. (note it has two buttons that you cannot remove Home Screen, and Menu Settings) on the bottom half of the page hit the green plus sign (+) on the More Options button (It has 3 dots). (note there are lots of other buttons you can add)
Now on all screens is a little round button with 4 dots on it, it appears on all screens in all programs and is floating. There is the More options button now which is the software menu button we are missing =). You can just go back and disable Assistant menu afterward or like me leave this handy button on because I have multiple programs that do this.
Hope this helps guys Cheers! :good:
Long pressing back key also brings out menu option check out

Yeah I tried that it did not work in the app that I run that I could not get to the menu with, I will try another program and see if I can get that to work. I also tried many of the other options I could find through the searches.

Not in all applications. Must be coded in the app.
This works for me! Galaxy S6, Marshmallow
Thank you for taking the time to share this information! I am posting the link to your post within the app's review mechanism to help other users of the app I am having the 'missing menu button' issue with.

You can also download the free app from the Google play store called all in ones gestures. You can use it to remap all of the buttons on any samsung phone.

Is there a way to launch Voice Search by holding the home button...

without losing other home button functionality such as double tap to launch camera and the triple tap ability?
Currently it does Now On Tap and you have to say the launch phrase to do a voice search but I'd like if it just went straight to voice search. I'm able to do that but I haven't found an app that can do that and still keep the camera quick launch ability.
Triple tap?

You can set triple tap to make it so that the screen shrinks down for easier 1 handed use, I didn't specify though since I couldn't remember what it's called.
@ohmimpotence , did you find a way to set long press to Voice Search? On my old S4 double tap launched voice search, with help of app called Home2Shortcut, I was able to switch it from s-voice to google. I assumed they made it long press on S7 since double press is camera, and there is button for app switcher. I would really like to get to Google voice search by long home press, straight from sleep mode. It is very handy while driving.
May this helps -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/themes/voicesearch-tap-t3556995

Anyone know how to remap home key long press?

I am not a big fan of giving Google its own button when I have a google search bar on my home screen and can just say "ok Google"
On my Note 4, I was able to program long press "home" to link to a shortcut - all I had to do was disable s-voice and i was prompted to select an action. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to do this on the S7 Edge.
For what its worth, the app shortcut I run is called "last app switcher" that allows you to toggle back and forth between two apps (very useful for apps that do not support split display). It even ignores the home screen, so you can go App1, home screen, app2 and then use long press home to get back to app1.

Only problem is the phone might slow down and get chuggy if you enable any accessibility options.

Google assistant shortcut

Hi on my op6 I could.hold power button for .5 seconds to get assistant to launch. That option seems to be missing on my op6. Is it just not enabled on the T-Mobile variant ?
T-Mobile needs to update their software to the latest from OnePlus.
You could always set one of the gestures to assistant. I can't take credit for that idea.

T-Mobile version of 6t missing features?

I recently bought the T-Mobile variant of the OnePlus 6t and I was watching a video about some features that could be turned on and one of the features they were talking about was a long press the power button to activate Google Assistant when I go into settings and go to the button and gestures tab there is no option to turn on the long press for Google Assistant the only option there is a double tap for camera.? Is this something that was removed from the T-Mobile version only and if so does anyone know a way to get that feature back or even an app to add the feature?
I was wondering about this also.

Supposedly it's coming in an update.
Already well covered here. It's not there yet. Some say it will supposedly come with one of the updates. I haven't seen anything officially stating that. So take it for what it's worth. There are plenty of ways to launch it though, gestures, long press the home button if you have one, or just set up "Hey Google".

Not on the T-Mobile version.
It only has options for long press/double press of home, recent, back buttons. Not for power button.
Which means if you do the guestures only navbar option, there's no button press for assistant.
Unless you install the app and just put a shortcut on the home screen.

Sorry I missed long press power, had home on my brain
But long press home brings up Google Search Assistant - same as if you said "OK Google"
That's the default that I see and get from following PapaMag's suggestion - granted its not the power button but if you are looking for search Google search assistant - its there

Well the whole reason you would use the power button is if you used only gestures and had no nav bar.
It is also missing a huge feature called quick launch. It for whatever reason is missing from the T-Mobile variant and without going through the troubles of flashing to stock can anyone help or find a solution as to how to reenable it?
