Thanks for visiting the thread. Root bounties have been incredibly successful in creating traction from community members towards finding root methods in many brands of phones in the past.
What is a 'root & DRM bounty?'
A root bounty is a sum of money that people pledge to donate to any person who can find a way to root a specific device and firmware. Currently our bounty differs a little because of the specific firmware format for Sony Xperia phones. When rooting the device the device's saved DRM keys are wiped. Amongst other issues this causes a loss of functionality to the device camera that renders it mostly useless. As such a lot of people are apprehensive in rooting the device until a DRM backup and restore method is achieved.
Can the XZP be rooted?
Currently yes it can, however this method does not allow the DRM keys to be saved and restored. People who have currently rooted their Xperia XZ Premium phones will probably never have a way to restore the original DRM keys. For those of us who have opted not to root our XZP phones yet, there is still the option of waiting until we can back up the keys before they are wiped, and then restore them after the rooting process.
What do I need to do in order to qualify for the bounty amount?
You need to release a root method that allows the TA partition which contains sensitive information including the DRM keys, to be backed up (before) and restored (after) the root process. Thus preserving the original Camera functionality. The first person who creates such a method will receive the bounty. Either this, or you come up with an entirely different way that still is confirmed to work.
How much is the bounty?
See below.

I'll add 50.

Count me in with €25

me too i will donate

I am currently working on a DRM fix for XZP. With a little bit luck, I will get this done. But it's really hard to find a good way.

I'll pledge 20 euros.

$20 from me

Not sure if this is allowed any more but I'm going to try for it anyway.
We had a bounty thread for many other phones for root and other options etc.
I'll personally donate €100 to whoever can successfully provide a method to root the Sony Xperia XZ Premium, that also allows the backup/restore of the original DRM keys so the camera functionality is not lost.
If not against the rules. Other members can add their bounties here too and I'll keep the first post updated.
Whoever ends up doing this, feel free to send me a PM so I can make the donation after confirming

Hi, I don't think you guys would ever see this, or at least anytime soon.
Why? Android is getting increasingly secure and it's progressively getting harder and harder to backup TA keys.
If a breach is found and people manage to backup their keys, it's a massive security risk and poses a threat to many users out there, by right even when root is attained, hackers shouldn't be able to do much(Sony-RIC + SElinux) even the dirty cow exploit was a pain in the ass to figure out(search up the thread, the developers have a good explanation on how it works)
TA key workarounds for camera and such may be possible however.
So, will you guys eventually get a backup solution? Maybe. But it will be a long time till then. I hope my input can shine some light on the situation and why you guys don't have a backup solution.
Enjoy your device's and have a good day.

I'm in with 20 dollars.

Hey, I have done some analyse month ago, have no device to try anything more but thing which I found related to drm and unlock key from an unlocked trim area dump of the xzp... I found that unlock key unit which is unit which always get's created to trim area when device gets unlocked. These thing exists only on pre xzp models but on xzp I found unlock key unit is no more in trim area! Don't own phone to make an direct emmc dump for analyse but unlock key unit definitelly is outside of trim area! Probably booth things (drm key + unlock key) is out of trim area!
Edit:
Anybody have idea where is loader stored on xzp, its not in emmc? Probably inside an storage for example in an 8 pin chip? Another thing which I found, anybody saw xfl_X_BOOT_MSM8998_LA1_1_N_59_A.mbn ??? Its signed boot image, found it inside bootloader_X_BOOT_MSM8998_LA1_1_N_59_A_X-FLASH-ALL-42E5.sin , maybe you can try boot it with fastboot?

These days getting root is not a easy job, but CVE's is still present since kernel is not a bug free, always new CVE is coming on, hope somebody find an CVE which will give you root chance. Definitelly you can get root, just wait! But thing which you definitely can't get is bootloader unlock, so don't try to unlock your bootloader since that's not possible.

Making bootloader unlock allowed NO to YES is possible if you go to the sony oficial centre and reguest it, see explanation about whats going on http://sony.yt/topic/7680-bootloader-unlock-allowed-status-no-to-yes/
Edit:
Forgot something... You are the owner of the phone, you paid for the phone, and it is your right to ask to become the full owner of your phone, right?

thanks and hope one day we will be able too

20$

I'll donate $50.

I don't own this device, but thinking about on newer xperias (XZ1 and and onwards), I'm in with 20U$

I'll pledge $20

Updated first post, added the additional bounties offered by generous members here to the total.
I hope we can get this to happen ASAP, this is a fantastic phone and I am sure that a method to backup the DRM keys would also be workable on other new models before a patch.

NO-CONTRACT SERVICE PROVIDERS
In the past 3 weeks I spent MANY hours doing research and on phone calls so I learned a great deal
about the choices we have for unlocked Xperia Z2 smartphone service providers.

RED POCKET
I made a mistake choosing Red Pocket. First, I was not aware they had 2 different GSM SIm cards so I received GSMA. Then I discovered they have better deals for GSMT. They advised me to go to Fry's Electronics to purchase GSMT card. Then I got wrong SIM card AGAIN because Red Pocket [RP]doesn't put GSMA or GSMT on their packaging! Ordered GSMT card on eBay for $1 and then phoned Red Pocket to make the switch. IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone on the phone (after 42 minutes on hold, I hung up). Sent them an email. No reply after 6 DAYS. RP service only got worse. Average time to reach a human by phone was over 20 minutes. They put me on hold and hung up on me 3 times. This is when i decided it was time to find a new service provider.
ULTRA MOBILE
Did more research and discovered ULTRA which has better rates and extras like being able to phone up to 45 county land lines for free (and some cellular too). I made the switch as soon as SIM card arrived. ULTRA uses Tmobile service which I prefer over AT&T since prior experiences taught me Tmo has better cell coverage in my area. Then I ran into more problems caused by Red Pocket. Needed my RP account # and password. After 24 hours, my number had not ported from RP to ULTRA. Ultra told me that Red Pocket was failing to release it. FINALLY, after 27 hours, I was activated on ULTRA. Service has been excellent and I'm getting 4G. My only gripe with Ultra is that they fail to provide ANY instructions for how to setup voicemail. Logic told me that since they piggyback off Tmo, Tmobile voicemail instructions would work, and they do.
SIMPLE, NET 10, TMOBILE, AT&T. I looked at all their GSM plans and BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) no-contract rates before settling on the 2 above. If you have one of these service providers and you're satisfied, I'm happy for you.

P.S. If the information above helps you, click THANKS button (no donations).
Testing now.
Hope it works,
It takes for ever to download but I am looking forward to this.
Cant stand not having root.
Please do not forget, that by unlocking the bootloader and without backup of TA partition you loose DRM keys forever. Some of the more advanced Xperia features will stop working (at least x-reality and low noise high ISO mode in camera). I would advise to downgrade, root and then flash pre-rooted .167 firmware with locked bootloader.
I got this to work !
Thank you !!!!

I unlocked my boot loader using the sony website (Have an old TA partition backup just in case).
Everything seems to work just great! I have the x-reality working and the new Super-Vivid mode also I see no camera limitations.
How can I check if my TA partition is still present ?
Now its time for titanium backaup to do its magic.
@weltwon
You realize this goes against people who cant unlock their bootloaders and also those who want to restore their warrenty later on
We root to keep out bootloaders locked to ensure the safe backup of our TA partitions.

I am sorry, but I do not agree with your statement. I bought a phone with unlocked bootloader by a previous owner and I was a bit surprised by red-green noise in the low light/night photos. Many pictures taken by other Z2 phones didn't have noise at all and were in higher quality. After following some steps mentioned in other topic not only x-reality was back, but also noise disappeared from the freshly taken photos. I have seen posts of Z2 owners with the same experience. But maybe you are lucky or you don't take photos in such conditions

X-Reality worked only on older firmwares, did your device come with a older firmware
Ive tested alot with multiple devices and many different firmwares
69 was the only firmware where X-Reality worked with an Unlocked bootloader
Nothing else is lost at all from Bootloader unlocking

Well, device came with non-working X-Reality and awful noise in night photos. I almost immediately flashed the .167 FW. Only later I realized that my bootloader had been unlocked by previous owner. When I followed these steps, X-Reality is working again and photos are clear. This is mine experience with my phone, your might of course differ. But I am 100% sure that not only X-Reality, but also Camera was impacted by removal of DRM keys.I remember that some people complained that music download was lost as well, but I can't confirm as I did not test it before the procedure (at the moment it's working fine).
In fact, I found comparison photos which I took before flashing the fix and after. You can't deny the difference in noise
I do realize but YOLO ! I question things and test things because I am not a zombie.
To be honest I completely missed the point of this topic - what is the advantage of not doing firmware downgrade if you have to unlock bootloader which will wipe everything on the phone and removes some nice features? More experienced users are fully aware of this method which is available out there for years. And advise this to inexperienced ones..? Don't believe that it's a good move
The point: Faster & Easier ROOT

From all my experiences, downgrading firmware caused me MORE problems then staying with the same firmware, which my method allows.
As far as wiping everything and losing "nice features" you are simply WRONG.
The ONLY feature I've lost is X-Reality which I may have never used anyway.
As far as wiping everything, Play Store has many apps for backing up data and everything else on your phone.
I chose my ROOT methods because I found them to be FASTER & EASIER than the downgrading and custom building processes.
Anyone reading this is free to agree, disagree or choose your own methods.
The POINT of this topic is to offer a FASTER & EASIER way to ROOT for an Xperia Z2 running 23.0.1.A.0.167 firmware.
Glenn
Please explain to my phone that it should have been fully working (x-reality, bionz) even with unlocked bootloader as it clearly wasn't. I will not argue with you, I was forced to restore functionality as previous owner unlocked bootloader without doing backup of TA partition and more users might do this following your advice. It is completely ok that you do not miss x-reality or that you are ok with high noise in photos, but many users are not satisfied with this (myself included). Once they follow your fast and easy way of root, they will spend more time to restore the lost functionality. But to each his own I guess..
Btw. did you even bother checking photos I posted? How can you say that ONLY x-reality was disabled by DRM keys removal?
Not sure if it's true or not, but someone posted that the PS4 remote play also doesn't work with unlocked bootloader.
Yes, it seems that playstation stuff is lost as well.
The proper way is:
1.downgrade (flashtool) to anything older than .167 without unlocking the bootloader
2.use towelroot and install recovery
3.backup TA partition (in case you plan to unlock bootloader)
4.flash pre-rooted .167 via CWM recovery
5.flash in flashtool everything in .167 ftf file except system partition
5.5 optional - clear data(if you're worried about corrupted data by downgrade)
6.enjoy rooted phone with ALL functions and full warranty
It takes around 20 minutes once you have necessary files downloaded. You are free to unlock bootloader if you wish (no point if on stock rom) as you can restore TA partition anytime.

Not only expert users...everyone knows for this method.
It's few years old system...nothing new...
It's quite simple...if you can unlock or want to unlock bootloader you can root every fw, even 5.0 (tested on N7 2012).
As long as you can flash custom kernel you can root your device, that's something brids already know...
Don't ever try this method, TA needs to be backed up, if you don't care about any of those features then go ahead unlock your device.
Otherwise please we have a way to root the device, plus I have downgraded my phone multiple times., I never came across any of these problems. If you're really unlucky and rare cases like 0.1% will have the problems when downgrading. So far Sony phones are safe and okay to downgrade. I've done it multiple times.

Unfortunately, lots of newbies hear "ROOT ROOT ROOT" and want to get there as fast as possible as if there's a pot of gold waiting for them!
May not be a pot of gold but Wireless Tether for Root Users, being able to run Quick Boot app and quickly go to CWM so I can make a full nandroid backup and a list of other apps is why I sought and found the fastest & easiest way to achieve root while on 23.0.1.A.0.167 firmware.
Yes, I want BEST possible images with the 20 megapixel camera in my Z2,
so I will be working on easiest way to restore X-reality OR I will find a BETTER camera app!

Good luck with unlocked boodloader, no backup of TA and not willing to do the FW downgrade So you basically saved 5 minutes for rooting and now going to spend few hours to restore what you f***d up (and will never really acomplish) and encouraging newbies to do the same.. Great idea

Rooting the Mate 8

As more people are receiving their Mate 8s and participation in the forum increases, I'm noticing large and growing threads where information on various topics is actually getting scattered across multiple threads. For example, on questions relating to syncing the Mate 8's contacts/calendar with Google, I believe I've seen questions and responses get posted across no less than 4 different threads, if not more. As these threads grow, this information is getting buried and less cohesively identified with info pertaining to the exact same topic, but on another thread.
So, in an attempt to refocus the topic of ROOTING (also discussed on various threads now) to one easily sourceable location, I am starting this thread. The hope being that any latest updates and details on rooting the Mate 8 can be consolidated here (at least until a true verifiable guide can be posted) so that interested members need not go hunting all over the place.
Currently, there isn't a much detailed information out there about how and what process(es) to use to root a Mate 8, but a number of people (myself included) are very interested and it's likely more will be looking soon. There have been a few "guides" thrown out there already, but these have turned out to be totally untested for the Mate 8 and later unsuccessful when attempted by members. So if anyone has updated info on how to achieve rooted status, please do share, since only the following (below) seems to be where we stand based on what's already been discussed:
Locked Bootloader
For some/many including myself, it seems the Mate 8 is the first Huawei phone we have purchased, with one previously unknown aspect being that Huawei locks its bootloader, which can't be unlocked within settings-->developer options, or other means. As such, using the power + volume keys is ineffective to boot into any other system status, such as recovery mode or bootloader mode to even attempt a root process
Unlocking the Bootloader
There have been discussions about how to achieve this and it appears Huawei can be contacted directly and a bootloader unlock key can be requested for a user's specific phone by providing Huawei with the phone's IMEI and some other information (for prior Huawei owners who have done this, forgive the rest of our ignorance). There is a specific link on Huawei's website where this can be requested: http://emui.huawei.com/en/plugin.php?id=hwdownload&mod=list
What's Next?
Surprisingly, this is pretty much as far as the discussions have gone to date. In fact, no one has posted as to whether or not they have even heard back from Huawei and successfully unlocked their bootloader with a provided key (or by any other means). Moreover, once the bootloader is unlocked, what the next appropriate steps might be(?). At present there are no custom recovery tools such as TWRP available for the Mate 8, so I presume a rooting process, if achieveable in the near-term would involve adb command lines. But this is where I and others are really hoping for the expertise and insight of other members. Please let the forum know if/when you have additional info!

That is as far as I've gotten, because they require money to download the rooting tool (which won't even work unless the bootloader is unlocked.) Huawei says that I need to have had my account on my device for 14 days before I can get an unlock code, so I'm waiting for two weeks to try and do that. If anyone has any more information, it would help, but that seems to be the only place I've seen a successful root.

Thanks duraaraa, this is helpful. I live in China so I'm thinking I may stop by one of the big electronics markets here this week to see if these guys are actually able to apply a proper root yet. Even if they can, however, that doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to have them do it for my Mate 8, simply because there are many things I don't trust here, and having a stranger monkeying around with my mobile--presumably with some unknown piece of software to allow superuser access to the system--probably qualifies as one of those things. (Of course, that may all be moot anyway, since who knows if Huawei has left some type of backdoor on the phone for the Chinese government...but that's another topic to be filed under "paranoia" I suppose.) Also, I understand you not wanting to pay some strangers (who can't speak any English) money over Taobao for this just quite yet. With all the scams and cheating that goes on here, good luck getting any recourse if it's just another one of those. Or even if it's legit but problems arise, the language barrier for non-Mandarin speakers to seek support would be huge.
Question: when you say you need the account on your device for 14 days, what do you mean by that? It's not enough to create an account online and request the unlock key with your IMEI and other info from the website form? Do they actually want to verify that you've accessed your Huawei account from your phone, like through one of the 20 Huawei apps they've pre-installed? And only after doing that will the 14-day clock start?

Thanks duraaraa, this is helpful. I live in China so I'm thinking I may stop by one of the big electronics markets here this week to see if these guys are actually able to apply a proper root yet. Even if they can, however, that doesn't necessarily mean I'm going to have them do it for my Mate 8, simply because there are many things I don't trust here, and having a stranger monkeying around with my mobile--presumably with some unknown piece of software to allow superuser access to the system, probably qualifies as one of those things.

If you live in China, hopefully you can get better information than I can!
As for the account, it just says you need to have it registered on the phone for 14 days. There is a setting in options where you enter your huawei ID. I imagine it is that. I will let you know if it worked in about 12 days

Not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean, upon rooting, how does that affect the warranty? I personally don't know, but if I had to guess, I imagine the official manufacturer position is that it would technically void the warranty. Of course, this can be reversed by unrooting and reflashing any custom recovery back to stock. But this is putting the cart before the horse, since many of us are most probably interested in determining how to root and not so much what the manufacturer's official standpoint on rooting is.
The phone has been out for a while now, we must be getting close to someone having waited 14 days?
Looking back, i registered on the Huawei site on the 21st of December, which by my count is over 14 days as long as they don't take into account Bank holidays. I tried to request the bootloader last night i got the "you have to wait 14 days" message. I will try again when i get home, as i don't have all the details with me right now.
Edit: found all the details on the phone itself, and still get the same error message.
There´s a Bootloader- Unlock Code Request-Thread at HuaweiClub, but i cant tell that requests have been answered yet...
http://en.club.vmall.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=33654
I also tried various Root Methods (kingo, Angel root, Genuis ect) but Marschmallow still seem to be unbreakable, maybe because of the Bootloader Lock...
As for BBS root, you need a weibo account and need to pay credits for downloading the root software, i tried this but did not want to add a credit card or anything.
i found a root guide on another chinese forum, this time with actual screenshots.

altaz,
Were you able to get the unlock code yet? In your first post on this thread that you mentioned you registered on the site on Dec. 21st. By my count that's over 14 days, but the message the website kicks back when applying for the unlock code talks about the ID being used on the phone for more than 14 days. Did you login on your phone via settings the same day you registered your ID online?
In fact, can you (and anyone else) confirm that this is the message you also received when applying for the unlock code on Huawei's site: "The Huawei ID used to apply for the unlock code has not been used on the device for more than 14 days." I would imagine someone's had to have already passed this mark, or if not, damn near close by now(?).
I've tried again today, and received the same setting. I read on one of the vmall forums that the english site doesn't work and that you should use the Chinese site. So i went to the Chinese site, and again received the same error message.
I originally registered on the phone itself for the HiCare app and HiCloud, received activiation emails which confirmed that the activation went through. I then noticed though that there seems to be another level of activation. You can get there by going to Settings > Huawei ID > Member
On this screen there is a message under my email that states "Activate Huawei membership, enjoy exclusive services". Now, everytime i click on this to activate i receive an error message saying "Can't connect to server, touch to refresh". Tried refresh lots of times, but doesn't work. Been through all my network/system settings and given everything network access, still doesn't work. I've tried it while connecting to WiFi, 3G and 4G, and it's still the same.
I've pretty much given up hope of getting past this screen, and added it to the growing list of "software/connectivity" quirks i am experiencing with EMUI.

LG-H873 (Canada) G6

Does anyone know if the TWRP (international) version works on this (Canada) version of the G6? What I would like to do is install TWRP and Lineage OS, however, neither TWRP or Lineage have a LG-H873 version of their downloads.
As far as Lineage OS is concerned, the G6 versions they have are for the EU and the US. TWRP only has an International version listed, whatever that is? International as far as the US is concerned, or South Korea?
The technical specifications for LG-H873 are identical to the LG-US997, however, does anyone have any further knowledge about any differences between the two models?
Hope someone can help. Thanks to those who try.
Your version of the G6 (Canadian) cannot officially have it's bootloader unlocked and subsequently (unfortunately) there are no options at all for you.. as far as installing TWRP, root or custom ROMS goes..
Clarify the LG-H873 Status and possible future please

I know there was no exploit for the lg-h873 bootloader unlock as of yet, but based on the above, is this saying that our handset is unlikely to ever be unlocked due to some technical reason? I am quite nervous when I see most posts about this are from last spring, and here we are 2018, with no sign of any work or progress or anything. Just the seemingly resigned line that it's not possible. Can someone clarify this? I just got this phone right before christmas, and I am freaking livid at finding this out. Anyone have any advice if this is a likely permanent problem on how to approach getting the handset switched or exchanged with the carrier or other due to this "gotcha" bullSh it?

Obviously, not meaning calling them up and saying "HEY, you blocked my hacking/rooting". In case that wasn't clear. I'm not above misrepresenting myself on THIS issue if the outcome is positive. Just returning the favor. By the way, the carrier is Telus if that matters
The bootloader is locked and that is final. Unless someone finds a massive exploit, there will be no root or ROM's for phones that have locked bootloader. I have the H873 on Koodo and it sucks but LG's stock rom is good enough.
I also have the Canadian variant and tbh I feel that (for me at least) rooting is not necessary.
Don't get me wrong, every other android phones that I owned were rooted and I loved it!
But with the G6, the stock ROM is not bad at all! The two main things I was "afraid" of at first were bloatware and ads (missing adaway) but you can debloat with the ADB method and I'm using blokada for blocking ads and I must say I'm very happy with this phone!
Other thing is, root means no android pay and that's something I'm planning to try very soon!
So no root is not as bad as I thought at first!

Thanks for this, I had no idea that this was the case. I'm going to guess that the locked bootloader must be the difference between the Canadian and US versions.

I'm using Android pay, no problems and it works very well. It's a shame that only a few Canadian banks are accepting it. However, you can put your Canadian Tire money card on it, along with Air Miles, Aeroplan and Scene rewards cards.

At the risk of sounding stupid or slow.....| The above is clear, but I was seeking clarification as to the status. As in, is the bootloader being locked something that is permanent? or reversible? Something that could be unlocked by LG if they so desired (like if they decided "hey, we should open the bootloader like we do for other countries) as some point). Not saying they ever would do so. But I was curious if this was the kind of thing where technical reasons or architecture made it impossible with the existing model. Or if LG could technically roll out a software patch that allowed it to unlock. Forgive me for sounding stupid here. I have been rooting every samsung phone and tablet I've come across going back to the s2 (roughly 7 devices). Each one of those, whatever the case or obstruction, eventually that root was available. So here is my very first LG device, and I'm so used to it being a given that access was possible...eventually, that I can't figure out why this fairly popular handset is basically a write off. Yes, no need to repeat, because the bootloader is locked. But of all the devices with root access possible, have none of them had locked bootloaders? Is there something structurally harder to get around with LG vs others? Please indulge me a little more detail as to why this is so unlikely. Thanks in advance

Yes, if LG wanted to, they could set up a system for you to unlock your bootloader, no update required, it's all done via their website.
You pop in your IMEI, and it's supposed to spit out your bootloader unlock code. This has only been done in a few countries.
There is going to be little development on this device though because it is NOT popular at all. Too expensive at launch, and price only came down when the S8 came out. Since it only has the 821, the type of enthusiast that would work on that type of unlock didn't even bother.
Even LG seems to have abandoned it already.

There is an OEM unlock option in the H873

Now that my Fido lg g6 has been updated to Oreo there is oem unlock in dev options . What does that mean for me ? Does that mean that there is a chance for TWRP ? Could this lead to custom ROM ? If I swipe to OEM unlock now what would happen to my phone ?
If you can explain these to me I would very much appreciate it .?

Can you please explain or direct me to info on how to debloat using adb in LG G6? I have a LG G6 from Fido.
Yes . That would be nice to know , how to debloat using ADB
Also , how would I go about making UI as close as possible to stock Android ?
Found this on another xda thread (credit to AM Radio)
1. get latest LG Universal Mobile Drivers (currently v4.2.0)
http://www.lg.com/us/support/software-firmware-drivers
- click on "LG Mobile Drivers" and click on "Windows"
- right-click, run/install as Admin
2. grab latest ADB binary, link provided on XDA
https://www.xda-developers.com/googl...ary-downloads/
- extract the "platform-tools" folder
3. install Package Name Viewer 2.0 from the Playstore
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...om.csdroid.pkg
- probably lots of apps that do the same thing, but i grabbed this one first. allows you to inspect all User and System apps on your phone, and select the ones you want into a list, and then copy that list to Keep or a text file or whatever
4. turn on USB debugging on your G6
- go to Settings > About Phone > tap Build Number until you're a developer
- go up a menu level, click on Developer Options (which should now be just above Above Phone)
- find "USB debugging' and turn it on
5. get hooked up:
- connect your G6 to your PC via USB
- on G6, change the mode to "File transfer"
- back on Windows, open the "platform-tools" folder, shift+right-click somewhere in the folder, select "Open command window here"
- type command (without quotes): "adb devices"
- in the command window, you will see confirmation that the daemon is started, and the name of your device
- if you get a dialogue box on the G6 re: USB debugging, just click "ok"
- type command (without quotes): "adb shell"
- in the command window, you will now see the "lucye:/ $" prompt
6. time to get cooking
- at the prompt, type (without quotes):
"pm uninstall -k --user 0 [PackageNameOfTheAppYouWannaRemove]"
- example:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.lge.bnr
- hit Enter, and kaboom: LG Mobile Switch is gone.
- repeat as necessary, referencing that handy list you prepared in Step 3

I've tried with the network unlock assigned by TMo, but no success. It gives me error 5.

Thanks @luciostanton, I have two phones G975U from T-mobile, and did they say you must avoid make a factory reset or reinstall the system form odin? I have asked in one shop about the unlocking cost: they offered me a $20 option, but they told me if I make the factory reset, the phone loses the unlock. And need to pay again to unlock, but I don't know if was this method.
I guess samsungsimunlock.com give you another "Unlock App" that works instead the TMo preinstalled, or every thing was made online, by USB?
Thanks a lot!

Hi @leonardovisconsi, yeah, I know factory reset is not needed to unlock process, but if you unlock by this method, and in the future you need to make a factory reset to fix another undesired app, system failure, forgotten pin, etc.... would it lose the unlock? That is my doubt.
Fake! Beware! samsungsimunlock.com is fake! Don't say it's true!
I've tried by myself. Don't trash your money! They send you a fake app, and a RANDOM code. And when you enter the code, or another numbers you want, it shows the word unlocked!, But it's only a word shown. The work inside the phone doesn't exist. It's an app programmed to only show the word. So, for me, it didn't work. Some people of this team will say it's working, but if you wan to give your money, you're free to choose. They say need to pay another $13 more, because my device has a kind of ultra level encryption, and can be unlocked with a more powerful software send by them. Gift $26 !
PayPal may solve a refund, but it's not guaranteed.
And the team has an automated replying system, to tell your refund is on process, and endless process!
Try a phisical solution, like Chimera Relock, or visit a shop, they have guarantee!
Please, let us know your experiences, and collaborate with the people who needs it.
If you can't believe, read this forum.

Remove AT&T bloatware
I hope I'm in the correct thread to ask this question. I have a Galaxy S10+ (SM-G975U) purchased directly from Samsung with an AT&T SIM card. I had AT&T send me the unlock code and my phone was unlocked so that I can move to T-mobile, which I've done successfully. My problem is that I'm on the T-mobile network but I still have all of the AT&T bloatware including the jingle and blue/white rotating globe on startup. I'd like to get a clean install of the T-mobile ROM and remove all vestiges of AT&T. Is this possible? If so, can someone send me a link with instructions with the procedure please? T-mobile phone customer service and local store personnel say they understand my problem but that they can't help me. Thank you.

I could not sim unlock my tmo s10+, I tried a few pages. The other day I call tmo and told them I wanted to sim unlock my phone, the lady told me that I needed to use the phone for 3 months and have at least 100 paid to the line in the phone. I'm on the 2nd month and already did the 100 dollars charge to the line so just waiting for October to call again and have it unlock for free.

Thank you.

Sim unlock just lets you use another phone company sim card. All that bloatware will be there because thatd the software. You can try flashing a 976u1 rom. That's a clean version and has no bloatware.

Maybe your proximity sensor isn't working correctly.

I agree the proximity sensor could be the likely culprit.
Could try a factory reset, or reflashing the firmware.
or even booting into safe mode, to see if an app is causing it.

Hello,
I wanted to ask if there is a guide (for inexperienced users) to updating the Moto G5 Plus with a custom rom.
I'm looking to install Arrow OS, but haven't been successful in finding instructions.
Any help or tips, links, would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Mumpitz

How to modify the build.prop file in order to skip device incompatibility?
I want to install Teamfight Tactics in my phone, buy it says it's incompatible. I want to at least try bypassing it and see if it works. I tried changing it to a Moto Z4, but it didn't work. Then I tried changing it to a Samsung Galaxy S9+ with the data I found somewhere in xda. This time, it wouldn't boot. I had to restore the system folder to what I had it before rooting, and I lost the root in the process. When I root it again, how should I change the device model?
I re rooted it now but I can't log in into my Google account, Google Play services keeps stopping.

First of all you should tell us how you changed your device fingerprint to a Moto Z4/S9+. Maybe the way would be to reverse this method. "With the data I found somewhere on XDA" is a bit vague.
Did you use the magisk module Magisk Hide Props Config?

I only changed two lines, ro.product.model and ro.product.manufacturer. For the Z4, I just changed the first one to Moto Z4, and for the S9+ I found a complete build.prop file in the forum and I changed my file to what it said there (only those two lines).
No, I didn't use that Magisk module. However, now the situation is kinda different, I made a new post about it. I have to solve that before even trying to do this again, so help there would be appreciated.
Moto g5 plus 4gb of ram
Hello, I have been looking everywhere to understand how I can tell *BEFORE* I purchase a moto g5 plus phone for the purposes of rooting if it is eligible for BL unlock.
I have been to the official moto website where it lists that G5 Plus "can" be unlocked but there are many different versions of the G5 Plus that cannot be unlocked. What do I need to look for to understand if the phone is eligible for unlock?
Does it have to be Exynos processor instead of Snapdragon? I saw that phones locked to Verizon and AT&T may not be unlockable but if I buy one from Ebay i'm looking for one that is not carrier locked.
I'm an IOS trying to change to a budget Android so this is all new to me unfortunately.
Thank you in advance!

Thank you , the retail software is new information I had not known. I looked on your post and saw that carrier locked and amazon devices cannot be unlocked. This I had known.
What i'm looking for which I cannot seem to find is if Snapdragon processors cannot be bootloader unlocked. Someone said they give problems but I cannot find this information anywhere. Every post just leaders to the bootloader unlocking support page on the official Moto website but that doesn't help me because apparently not all G5 plus models are alike and I cannot go through the process as I do not have the phone. I want to know if it can be unlocked BEFORE i purchase it.

Qualcomm Snapdragon or mediatek does not matter.
It depends on the software channel and carrier.
You need to ask the seller what software channel it's on, be cause that also affects which carrier it can be used on too.

All Moto G5+ models have the same Snapdragon processor.
I only know one type of device that can't be unlocked and that is the Amazon version with ads on lockscreen (not just sold by Amazon).

If the phone is carrier unlocked does that mean it is retail? I have only been looking at carrier unlocked devices.

I'm trying to play 'Teamfight Tatics' but I'm not getting past the loading screen. So I'm looking for the best game rom, considering that the stock rom is 32 bits is not an option.
