Helium not working.. - Moto G4 Plus Questions & Answers

I have rooted my G4 plus and currently using Resurrection Remix. I am planning to shift my data (especially apps data) to another brand new phone which in non rooted and I am not planning to root it for some days. I have already installed titanium backup on my moto but as per my knowledge, it won't work on non rooted phone. I have tried helium but it doesn't work. App is installed on phone and as well as on desktop, phone is detected but nothing happens further on mobile app. Screen just hangs saying waiting for Desktop app to enable backup. It seems motorola phones are not supported by helium (as mentioned on helium wiki).
Guys can you please guide me on any workaround for helium or how I can restore my app data on new phone which is non rooted ? Does titanium restores data on phone even if its not rooted?
Would really appreciate your support in this matter..!

I'm sorry you'll need to root the device if you need to backup and restore data of absolutely all your apps. Titanium backup does need root. And there are apps like super backup but these backs up data only when rooted otherwise just the apps. You can backup data of your messaging apps like WhatsApp and hike through inbuilt backup process

Thank you for your response Ayan. Can you suggest any app like helium for non rooted devices. Is 'Ultimate Backup' app any good in this scenario ?

Titanium backup restore APP+DATA doesn't seem to work

Hi,
I just updated my Desire Z from Virtuous Sense to CM7.1. I previously backed up all my apps with Titanium Backup, and after I flashed CM7.1, I downloaded Titanium Backup and restored some apps (App+Data). However, when I launched these restored apps, the data didn't seem to be restored. I'm still presented with a login screen.
Does anyone know how I can get app+data restore to work? Is there some setting that needs to be done during the backup process to get Titanium Backup to also back up my data, or is it incompatible with CM7.1?
Thanks.
Have you used Titanium for this before? Titanium doesn't always restore login data for apps that need it. For some apps, it just doesn't work for some reason. And its always the same apps.
For instance, Titanium seems to restore my Netflix and Pandora login data just fine (so I don't have to enter it again after flashing a new ROM). But HBO GO never does, and I have to enter it again.
Actually, yes I have. For example, I've tried it with Whatsapp, and it worked before. I didn't need to login with my phone number. This is useful since my whatsapp was registered to an old number. Skipping the login step would allow me to continue using the account.
For some reason it doesn't work this time.
Reflash the ROM or reinstall Titanium

Restoring one single app from backup with Nexus Root Toolkit

I did a backup before installing LOS just in case since all my apps sync. So one app didn't sync for some reason and I need to get that data back but I don't want to restore all the others too (specially ones I got rid of with the ROM reinstall) is there an option in NRT to restore only one app? how you do it?
Thanks

Anyway to restore APPS+DATA to LG G6 without Titanium Backup?

Seeing as how to there is no ROOT access on the G6 yet and titanium backup is not an option because of that, I have been having difficulty transferring my apps (Plus their data) from my old LG G3 to my LG G6. I've tried using Clockworkmod Helium, that didn't work. It just says its restoring, and then when the progress bars finish and it says "restore complete" the apps aren't even there in my app drawer... Is there any other way to restore APPS+DATA without root other than Helium? If anyone knows a way, please tell me, I would highly appreciate it. I have been at work trying to get this done for the past 3 days now...

I appreciate you making a suggestion to try to help. But as I stated in my OP, I tried helium and it just goes through the progress bars, but doesn't actually restore the apps onto the phone. I'm not sure why its doing this... Apparently other people are having the same problem with Helium (In the reviews for it they are saying it is doing the same thing)
My apologies. Maybe I should slow my reading down.
Had a similar problem with helium. I just kept getting an error. Tried the LG transfer app, but that ended up being "damaged." Ended up just restoring my Nova settings and quickly taking screen shots of my apps and their folders and having to manually download them. Painful, but it got the job done.

LG Backup does a pretty good job, but I do tend to lose some data. Upgraded from a LG G4.
LG mobile switch (formerly LG Backup) has the ability to backup to your SD card, then put the SD card in the G6 & restore the backup via LG Mobile Switch to the new phone. Pretty simple.

I can confirm that isn't working on h870, it say "restore complete" but it does nothing at all
too many app to restore...only way is rooting+titanium backup (and lose the warranty), I think...
I've restored some apps data using helium from Nexus 5x to G6. I've to install the apps first on the G6, then perform a restore from PC using browser. My backup is data only.

Possible to copy app data from Oreo 6P to Nougat S8+?

So I bought a Galaxy S8+ (7.0) to replace my 6P (8.0), and I'm trying to copy my app data over. Not having any luck. Any suggestions for how to do it? The apps themselves are no big deal, I can download from the Play Store, but I want my data.
6P is still completely stock - locked bootloader, so I would have to erase it to root. This would defeat the purpose. If there is a way to do a complete backup, root, and restore so I could use TiBu that would be awesome.
I do have Google apps backup enabled, and I have a backup on Drive that I can find and see all my apps. However, according to this link you can't restore from a newer version of Android to an older one. It never gives me the option to restore when I add my Google account to the new phone, and I can't find a way to restore from Drive on the new phone, even though I can see all the apps in the backup. Downloading apps from the store doesn't restore their data either. I can't downgrade my 6P back to Nougat without root either.
I tried Helium Backup, but it just simply doesn't work. As evidenced by many comments on the Play Store it doesn't work on the 6P.
Am I just stuck? I would think there would be a better solution than this.
You tried helium backup this way I guess ???

There are not many ways to do, you could try Holo or super backup.
That's why we root

The problem I am having with Helium backup is that it just doesn't seem to work. If I connect through port 5000 from my PC (PC download) and tell it to backup then it just sits there and says "waiting for [IP address]" and never comes back to save anything. If I try to backup to the device, it does a couple of different things - it comes up and asks for my device password (which I put in settings) and then it fills in the password for me, but then either the "Back Up My Data" is grayed out or it sits on that screen, fills in the password, and then the apps start cycling through while it is adding characters to the password, then it gets stuck and stops. I have to reboot the phone to reset the backup to try again. (It's not locked up, just Helium is stuck.)
I'll look into Holo and Super Backup.
Followup: No go on the others. It says Holo can only be used to restore to the same device, and Super Backup needs root to backup the app data.
Bad for you, I doubt there is way for you to backup with a locked bootloader if none of the apps are working.
The only way to root a phone without a patched boot.img (SuperSU and magisk) is to use kingroot, but I highly doubt this will work. Do yourself a favor and root your s8 to avoid this the next time.

Try it, I never thought I would link something like that

Yes, pretty much. Google restore is decent in getting your new device close to where it was, but app data (especially for non-Google apps) can be a problem. Sometimes the app has a dedicated folder and you can try copying that over. This worked for me once long ago with WhatsApp before it had it's own backup capability. After the Google restore, exactly which apps are you needing saved data for? Someone may be able to chime in if it is a specific game or well known app. Now that root is available for S8+ you should do that asap before getting it all set up the way you want it. It's only painful one time, but then you will have access to TiBu and all the other "essential" root apps.

The problem is that Google restore didn't work either since it was going from an Oreo device to a Nougat device. I didn't think backing up was a big deal since Google is supposed to handle it, but it's not doing me any good at all. I couldn't do a full restore from the phone, and when I reinstall apps from the Play Store it doesn't include the data. Most things have accounts so I can set it back up again, but all of my preferences and settings for every app are gone. I'm pretty much having to go through app by app and reconfigure everything. Plus I have lost high scores and low times for several games...
My only concern with rooting the S8+ is that I have seen that it makes Android Pay not work, and some people say the Play Store has issues. Is that true? I've just begun researching it.

I'm afraid I can't be of much help because I don't use Android Pay or Samsung devices (except the Galaxy Nexus which was great) ...but both Pay and PlayStore seem to be working fine on most rooted devices. I have never had a PS issue due to my phone being rooted. I just know I won't be without root because the root apps I use are more important to me in every day use. It's up to the individual to decide whether root is right for them, or not. I suggest hanging out in the Sammy board here on XDA, read and ask questions until you know what you want to do. BUT what I said earlier is true and most will vouch for me... make the decision asap, because unlocking and rooting will require wiping the phone.
Edit: Side note... just found this article which doesn't help you, but it does raise a question: Did you initiate the restore during the initial setup process on the S8+ or afterwards? If afterwards, wiping the phone and trying Google restore again may work.
There are multiple solutions available for G Suite backup. You can google this solution .Last time I used the solution for same issue and got entire backup with softaken G Suite backup tool. I will recommend you to download softaken G Suite backup tool. software from here G Suite backup.

backup/restore app data from my OnePlus3 to my OnePlus6T (Helium?)

I've used Helium in the past to backup/restore app data from/to the same device while dramatically changing ROMs.
Now, I'm just trying to backup some games that don't have cloud sync from my OnePlus 3 to my OnePlus 6T.
I tried using helium, which seems to create the backups, which i transfer to the new phone, but the "restore" fails...
I want to upgrade my OnePlus 3 to the new Android version and give it to my mom, but I don't want it to wipe out all of my data because I have an unlocked bootloader (if you don't know why I'm saying this, either ignore or look up "Android Pie Wipes Unlocked Oneplus 3 on Upgrade")
How else can I backup and restore these things? I'm not unlocked or rooted on my OnePlus 6T (I'm trying something different) so I can't use Titanium, like I would in the past.
Any ideas?
Thanks!!
