Manual & Stuff - Samsung Galaxy Note FE Questions & Answers

Does anyone have the manual for this device?
Also, how do you set reminders in Samsung Notes app? I know you could in action memo but that's not installed.
I tried installing an old version of S Note but it keeps crashing.

No reason, I suppose, for it to be in any other language. I use the N7 manual, downloaded last year with high expectation.

Samsung Task Manager 1.5.1 available via Samsung Apps

Version 1.5.1 now available. It seems to be the same as version 1.5 that came out a couple of weeks back, except this version doesn't revert back to version 1 when you restart the phone - so a pretty fundamental improvement there.
thx for the news .. i'm happy i didnt got that prob from the begining
Oh yeah. Thanks for the news. Why did convert in the first place?

Got it... But no changes since version 1.5 at all ?

Anyone have the .apk file
Mine was downloaded when I updated to JM1, I didn't have to do anything, it was just there.

Hi guys,
This is the apk for Task Manager 1.5.1. Fetched this from Samsung apps on JM8. Hope this helps!
How come it says application not installed when I try to install it?

Apologies guys, was stupid enough to upload the wrong apk! Updated my initial post with the correct one. Try it and let me know if it works better... well at least it won't be worse
wtf permissions?
I was going to install the 1.5.1 release from the Samsung app store, but finally held back: The permissions it's asking for are not quite to my liking.
This app requires each and every permission there is, e.g. change UI settings, send SMS and MMS, make telephone calls, read emails, change APN settings, change global system settings...
Did all of you ignore this, or were you shown other permission requests?

Noticed that as well, but it's the first update I installed for the Task Manager. I assumed it already had those permissions, and decided to trust Samsung. Some might argue it's not such a good idea
There are more apps in the Samsung store that require odd permissions and I just called Samsung Mobile Germany to ask the supporters why this is.
Not that I expected anything else, but what I was told is just wrong.
I was told the following:
- These applications are from Google (i.e. programmed by Google)
- These permissions are set in Google accounts
- this is no risk as the applications for 100% sure won't make calls or send SMS / MMS
This is so poor as a support answer... And a really poor programming style as well, 'cause it contradicts the idea that programmers should only require those permissions in their manifest that are acually needed.
Not gonna install that crap anyway. What if Samsungs servers are hacked and distributing modified versions of these applications? They're not gonna pay my excessive cellphone bill, should this be true, aren't they?

Samsung keyoard pen writing

Hi guys,
When I got my N8010 there was an option to enable pen writing instead of keyboard. But I didn't use it for some time and now I see it is unavailable. I recently updated firmware using samsung software, would this be gone with that update? Does anyone know how to fix it?

A bunch of 8010/3 owners are using the "official" update for the N8000 (3G) version that they installed via Odin. The problem with it is the s/w is looking for h/w that's missing on the Wi-Fi version so it's a bit of a kluge. So it's JB now with some annoyances or waiting for it to appear officially for the Wi-Fi version. As soon as it pops up in at least one region everyone can load it regardless of their current region. It'll be front page news when that happens.

Yes thanks Barry, am happy about the version you are talking about that has already been released for the 3G models.
I thought ncc74656 had been given an update none of us had heard about.
I restored original ICS and it's there. I have no idea how was that unavailable.

Did you read the thread I linked above? It's happened to quite a few of us when we updated. The fix is in that thread.
The layout of the JB keyboard changed a bit, but one can still switch between keyboard and handwriting input with the settings button left of the space bar (long or short pressing, one should work and show a T with a pen, which switches to handwriting and vice versa).

For some reason the option and icon disappeared for some of us meaning you couldn't use handwriting in any application. The thread I referenced is the instructions on how to get it back. It also seems to be happening to N7100 owners updating from 4.1.1>4.1.2. It's not a big deal really. You just have to reload the handwriting language once after you update.

Ahh... you 'restored' the original ICS.... Now I understand.
Previously you said " I recently 'updated' firmware using samsung software", updated being the key word and one which threw me.
Thanks for clearing it up.

Missing Voicemate??

Hi all
Apologies if this has already been asked but I couldn't find anything. I just got my G2 last week and have discovered today that the Voicemate app is missing? Or at least I can't find it...
Any ideas? It's a UK model on EE network.
Another question if I may, the quick access menu that you get to by holding your finger on the home key then sliding up (where voicemate is supposed to be) Is there anyway of changing which apps are accessible here.
Thanks a lot, any help appreciated.
Is there nobody with the same issue? Getting worried here...

Don't think that Voice Mate should be on that menu on D802? Don't you find it if you search for apps in the phone either? Note the space in the name if you search...
Don't have time to try right now, but I think this app is what you are looking for to change the menu: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dynamicg.homebuttonlauncher

Does the keyboard work in chrome?

Do the BlackBerry keyboard predictions work everywhere? They don't work in chrome for me especially when trying to type in the address bar and on Google.
Is there something that I have to enable?
Nope it doesn't work in chrome, there was a modified keyboard here on xda but the poster removed it.

Just an FYI - I didn't install it because I didn't need it.
Here it is the patched version that theoretically should enable predictions in the search bar and such: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByoPaCCmy-TOMmZ0RGE4QmI2X2s/view?usp=sharing

Thanks. I already installed and using it on my note 9. It has some new features like quick phrase, addition number board... but I really want it to have a number row which appear permanent on top. and predict words can use all time or at least in search bar, chrome... that why I'm trying to find a modified apk with hope that someone did my favors.
I actually don't want to switch to another keyboard cuz I addicted of swiping to get predict words..
Thank for replying.:fingers-crossed:

Is there anyway around having to choose one default messaging app in lollipop 5.0 ?

Hi guys! I'm Rina I'm new here, forgive me if I'm posting in the wrong area!
I have lollipop 5.0, Samsung Note 3, no root, 100% stock. -- As you know, you are forced to choose one- only default messing app, like- Gosms pro, or Textra. --Sms apps like: Viber or whatsup do not apply to this rule and I don't want to use those kinds of apps!
Is there anyway to get around this forced to choose one default app in 5.0? I remember when I had jellybean, you did not have this problem and it worked just fine and never asked you to choose a default sms app!
Please let me know a simple way to make this happen (if possible), I'm really new at all this! I am willing to root my note 3 or whatever it takes to make this work!
I don't understand why google did this, it worked just fine in Jellybean!
Thank you in advance! :good:
No one knows, please help!
