[NEWS] MIUI 9 Global Beta for RN3 - Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Guides, News, & Discussion

In an official post on miui forums, the release date for the first batch of MIUI 9 is set on August 11th. The first batch includes RN4 and Mi6. RN3 SD (kenzo and kate) is included in the third batch but no specific date is provided in the post. RN3 MTK is not listed for MIUI 9 update, as of now. Also, it has not been specified, if the android version too will be upgraded with this update or just the MIUI. In the post, some user has commented about the release to be sometime in late September, this can't be verified though. Hopefully, we will see our device to be running soon on MIUI 9 with Nougat.

There's nothing to indicate that MIUI 9 for out devices will be Marshmallow. You posted the link to the MIUI 9 Dev ROM, not the Global Beta ROM which does not indicate the RN3 will be any different.

@MikeyLee
As I already stated RN3 is not expected to get MIUI 9 Nougat roms!
Xiaomi Redmi devices generally only get 1 android version upgrade, which this device has already got with Marshmallow!
Edit: - Mi devices are reported to get at least 2 android version updates!
There is general consensus in the community of that fact. Resulting in the MIUI 9 version we will get will be Marshmallow based with back-ported N and maybe O features.
This discussion has already occurred here!
[MIUI] Xiaomi Mi 2/2S Confirmed to Receive MIUI 9 Update!
Currently on lollipop 5.0, so it definitely not getting nougat based MIUI 9!
Because there is no stable xposed for nougat yet, I will be glad if it is marshmallow based, since we will still get security patches.
As for linking to China Developer post, which is more than likely to get MIUI 9 before Global Developer.

The Redmi Note 3 SD came out 2016 February, Marshmallow was already about 4 months old, the device should of shipped with Marshmallow anyway stupid it came with Lollipop which was already over a year old, having no official Nougat update would massively put me off of Xiaomi, oh wait already put off with their incredibly slow updates and horrible MIUI

@LukeyWolf I agree with you it should have been released with Marshmallow but that is what you get with Budget category phones!

As predicted a Marshmallow China Beta MIUI 9 rom for kenzo is now available!

Currently im testing Bliss, after few days ill try RRemix.
I used to test Bliss roms for S4 mini GT-i9195 for the developer @tioguda untill i bought Redmi 3. So thats why i tried Bliss first.
My experience with both roms:
1. Screen lock and unlock implementation is essentially broken in CM13.0 , phone will restart if u unlock the screen
2. Flashing open gapps will break the camera. (Tried all package from pico to full) . Don't flash opengapps if u want to use the camera
3. IR blaster and Video recording doesn't not work
4. LED not working
RR is working fine with my redmi 3 except video & IR blaster. one more thing, i noticed that brightness lowest setting seems high, no choice but to use gravitybox display tweaks - any alternative on this without using 3rd party app. thanks :good:

1. What kind of lock method give this error? I'm using swype to unlock. No errors.
2. You can't use the camera at all after flashing open gapps?
Only issue I have with the cam on Bliss is that video recordings are not saved. Pico open gapps.

It is not MiUi. Idiot source.
OP is not in the normal sense!
It's MIUI 9.6.9.0, not 10.0

Differences of MIUI Stable & Weekly Beta
MIUI Weekly Beta - is the most relevant, innovative and up-to-date, as it receives all the innovations first. This firmware is was created for advanced users to test innovations. It is updated every week, usually on Friday, except for Chinese holidays and the presence of serious bugs, when developers delay the release of the update. However, do not be afraid, if you run into a mistake, most likely, next Friday it will be eliminated. And many users use the weekly firmware without worrying about bugs. The release name of the development firmware is the date of its release. For example, the latest firmware is now called MIUI 12 20.10.15, which means that it was released on October 15, 2020. The first figure is the year, the second is the month, the third is the day.
MIUI Stable - is the main assembly and is a kind of standard: it is stable, all functions are debugged and optimized in it, all the bugs that are found in the weekly firmware are fixed. It is recommended to install it, if you do not seek all the innovations and related bugs, This firmware not contains latest features as MIUI weekly beta. but you need a stable system without surprises. The name of stable firmware versions is not tied to the release date, but to the accumulated updates, so it is updated irregularly. Updates can come just in two weeks, and every three months.
Clean flash is recommended. If you move between stable and beta firmware.

I'm stuck on CC by xiaomi boot screen everytime i'm rebooting the ^phone, have to erase and flash again the device to have it working
dont know how to solve this issue
I bought this instead of my redmi because I wanted to change from MIUI but I got so bored with AOSP and normal custom roms... I guess MIUI is just best.
Thanks for the rom, I hope we could get later xiaomi.eu versions also

Update Content:
Stable EMUI is available to 11 users.
How Does Huawei Update Distribution Work?
Once an update is released, it reaches only one percent of active devices within the first 24 to 48 hours. This is to allow Huawei to monitor and control device errors at startup. Scheduled updates are done within one to two weeks. And it can take up to 8 weeks.
So even if it is announced that the update will be deployed / started to deploy, you may not see it on your device yet, which is completely normal!
What Does the Stable EMUI 11 Offer?
(A small note: You may think that the innovations we have listed are few, since we have already switched from EMUI 11 beta to this version, there is not much except minor improvements. But you will be able to understand the changes since you will go through 10.1.)
1-) New Sound Bar

With the stable EMUI 11, we have new air movements. The stable EMUI 11 with more visual enhancements is a candidate for the most eye-catching Huawei interface ever.
1-) New Sound Bar
The new sound bar was shown to us at the introduction of EMUI 11, but EMUI 11 in Beta process did not have this new sound bar.
2-) New Air Gestures

3-) New Theme: Starry Night
With the stable EMUI 11, the Starry Night theme is renewed.
4-) Strange Change in Splash Logo
https://www.huaweiailesi.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/img134-1-768x1024.jpeg
With the stable EMUI 11, the Android logo from the boot logo has been removed and only written “Powered by Android” is written. We think it is one of the steps taken for the transition to HarmonyOS.
5-) Strange Change in About Device
Compared to previous EMUI versions, stable EMUI 11 removed the "Android security patch level" section presented in the About device section and added only the security patch level instead. Again, we think it is one of the minor changes made for HarmonyOS.

Apparently we won't be having MIUI 13, what is the rom you'll go after android 11?

Or maybe buy a new phone?
Android 11 has just rolled out and you whining about MIUI13? Chill and install custom or buy newer phone for 200$. It's almpst 2 years old
We started with MIUI 10 and Android 9 - now on MIUI 12, Amdroid 10 and A11 beta is available - very good
Who told you we won't have MIUI 13 on 9T? Do you have any credible source for this information? If not this is fake news/misleading people which is not allowed here.
Also, no matter how bad or slow Xiaomi is, they do have a very good track record in giving out MIUI (not "Android", I stress on "MIUI") updates to way older phones as well.
All xiaomi phone get 2 version of android after release and 3 miui version after release.
Mi 9T/Redmi K20 released with MIUI 10 based on Android 9... Then get android 10 and 11 and miui 11, 12 and 13.

Updated news!
Yes we have some news.
Actually Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite / K20 is not in the official list published by Xiaomi.
But some unofficial sources tell us that Mi 9 Lite / K20 should get MIUI 13, not Android 12 but Android 11.
The date is actualy after May. It may also receive the update later, for example on autumn, or end of year. There is no exact date, certainly not before the month of May. Or at worst never receive it
Here is the UPDATED LIST - UNOFFICIAL (28/12/2021)
