Good News Infinity Users -> Android 7.1 for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ To Roll Out Soon
Samsung’s decision to ship the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ with Android 7.0 left many confused. The latest version of Google’s mobile operating system at the flagship’s launch was Android 7.1. It made sense for the company to release its new handset with the latest version of Android but it didn’t do that.
Then again, it’s not like the Android 7.1 update adds any major new features that Galaxy S8 owners have missed out on. It brings new emoji, launcher actions for the Pixel launcher and other minor tweaks. The emoji and launcher updates don’t really matter to Galaxy S8 owners since Samsung uses its own versions of both on its handsets.
Nevertheless, the Android 7.1 update for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ should be rolling out soon. Vodafone Australia has updated its website to reflect that the new firmware release has been submitted for review. This means that it’s in the final stage before roll out.
The carrier itself mentions that this is going to be a “Stability and Bug Fix” update so users shouldn’t expect much in the way of new features. With a major Australian carrier coming close to rolling out Android 7.1 for Galaxy S8, it’s only a matter of time before said update is released for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in other markets across the globe.

Also 7.1.1 bring app shortcut so basically one major useful feature
I would expect September released most of the case.
Very very late when my second device Axon 7 has 7.1.1 from April.

How can download the official ICS Canada version?

Patience is a virtue that many Android users get to exercise when it comes to waiting for carriers and manufacturers to bring their smartphones up to speed with the latest Android flavor.
The wait for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is over for some Canadian folks, since Samsung Canada announced that it has started rolling out the ICS software update for Samsung Galaxy devices. The update will be available on select devices starting now and will continue to reach all devices and carriers.
Samsung devices that can soon hop aboard the Ice Cream Sandwich express include the Galaxy S2, Galaxy S2 LTE, Galaxy S2 LTE HD, and Galaxy S2 X. Tablets aren’t forgotten either, since the Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 7.0, Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, Galaxy Tab 8.9 and Galaxy Tab 10.1 will also receive the ICS update soon. And yes, we’re every bit as surprised as you are to see the original Galaxy Tab being listed there.
Rolling out an upgrade across so many variants and carriers takes time you know, so don’t be alarmed if you don’t see it on your Samsung Galaxy device today. Some manual checking won’t hurt either if you want to somewhat speed up the process, though the fresh new version of Android will still be heavily adorned with Samsung’s TouchWiz. Also, keep in mind that the rollout depends on the good will of the carriers too, so your mileage may vary.
Hopefully Samsung Canada’s move will be followed soon by their US counterpart. Samsung has already detailed last week which devices will be eligible for the upgrade, but failed to mention any specific dates. Interestingly, unlike the Canadian list, the original Galaxy Tab 7 isn’t on the US list.
So, have you received your ICS update yet? Tell us in the comments below.
There wouldn't be any sense in downloading the Note ICS update that's being pushed to canada because it is for the LTE note which is a completely different device than the one you presumably have if you're in this forum.
Not the right place bub!!
Canadian Update is not for N7000!!
OTOH
Wazzup Ganjaman!!

This is not the correct device, even it it was, this should be posted in the ICS sticky.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) qualifies for Android 8.0 Oreo update

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2016) qualifies for Android 8.0 Oreo update since it was released on the market one year ago. Unfortunately, we won't be getting a confirmation from*Samsung, but we'll certainly know before the update hits the*phone*if the South Korean company decides to give the green light.

Galaxy J7 Prime - Android 8.0 Oreo update confirmed

Samsung is yet to release Android 8.0 Oreo for flagship devices like the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 so it really can’t be said for sure when the update will filter down to its premium mid-range lineup, let alone compatible low-end devices. Nevertheless, one of its carrier partners has revealed that the Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy Tab E Android 8.0 Oreo update will arrive in due course.
Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy Tab E Android 8.0 Oreo update
Samsung has been running an Android 8.0 Oreo beta program for the past couple of months. It has only released beta firmware for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+. The company is yet to confirm when it will roll out Oreo for all users but it’s expected to do that in the near future.
The company itself hasn’t said anything about the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy J7 Prime and the Galaxy Tab E. The information comes from T-Mobile’s update tracker. The carrier has one on its website which informs users what stage the upcoming software update for their device is in.
The support pages for both handsets mention that the Oreo update is in “manufacturer development” phase. This means that Samsung is working on Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy J7 Prime and Galaxy Tab E. It will obviously be released for these devices long after the flagships have had their turn.
If T-Mobile is due to receive this update, users on other carriers and in other markets can result assured that they will get Oreo on their units as well later this year.

Exclusive: Samsung stops Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 release, new version being developed

Samsung started rolling out the much-awaited Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ last week. As promised, the update was first released to members of the beta program before it was rolled out to non-beta devices earlier this week. The update had only been sent out in a handful of markets but in a rather unexpected turn of events, Samsung has stopped the Galaxy S8 Android 8.0 Oreo update release.

What's going on at Samsung phone support dep?
Oreo versions are late on Samsung devices and now they had to stop the upgrade. :S
My GF HTC 10 got Oreo weeks ago flawless.
At least we have Oreo alternatives for S8/S8+ like:
- Google Edition
- LightROM
- stable oreo
Google Edition working flawless on my (EU) S8+
C´mon Samsung! You used to be a suriuos company.

"We" being everyone except the entire US market. It's infuriatingly frustrating. But ya'll enjoy all the custom roms and unlocked bootloader goodness. Just remember us in your prayers.
I bet it has to do with the face emoji that they want to put on the s9. I bet it's being ported over to s8. I hope for 8.1 as well or whatever comes out when it rolls out
They shouldn't of released that crap...

Galaxy S6 Android Oreo Update
Galaxy S6 Android Oreo Update
Samsung still isn’t saying much about its future plans for Android Oreo so we can’t tell you anything with one hundred percent certainty. That said, we can tell you a little bit about Samsung’s history.
The company typically keeps its Galaxy devices upgraded with major Android software updates for two years before killing off support. The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge started on Android Lollipop and they’ve been upgraded to Android Marshmallow and Android Nougat.
The Galaxy S6 celebrated its third birthday in April which means there’s a very good chance it’ll stay put on Android Nougat. After all, Samsung Turkey and Samsung Canada have both left the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge off lists outlining upcoming Android Oreo updates.
The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge also have disappeared from Samsung’s list of quarterly and monthly security updates. This all but confirms bad news for those of you holding out hope for Oreo. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ and Galaxy S6 Active both remain on the list.
There’s also a chance Samsung decides to push a third major update to the Galaxy S6 series.
The company still hasn’t released an official list of devices getting upgraded Android 8.0 Oreo, but we’ve seen unofficial lists appear on Weibo and XDA-Developers.
The list from Weibo includes the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Active while the list from XDA-Developers, which is based on data pulled from the Galaxy Note 8 Oreo update, doesn’t.
T-Mobile’s also seemingly confirmed Android Oreo updates for the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy Note 5, but nothing is official until Samsung itself confirms the development.
According to multiple Samsung customer service reps, the Galaxy S6 will be getting Android Oreo. The information comes from threads on Reddit and XDA-Forums where posters state they were told that the company is currently working on a Galaxy S6 Android Oreo update behind the scenes.
One customer rep went as far as to say the Galaxy S6 Android 8.0 Oreo update is set to arrive sometime in January or February. That obviously didn’t happen.
Customer service representatives have been known to push bogus information to those asking questions over the phone and online so take this information with an immense grain of salt.
If Samsung does update the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, and Galaxy S6 Active with Android Oreo it will inch the company’s software support closer to Apple’s support for the iPhone. Apple typically keeps iPhones updated for four (five now that the iPhone 5s is getting iOS 12) years before kicking them to the curb.
At this point though, Galaxy S6 users shouldn’t be holding their breath.
Galaxy S6 Oreo Release Date
If Samsung decides to release Android 8.0 Oreo for the Galaxy S6, and that’s a huge if, it probably won’t release the software in June.
With the Android Oreo update just now hitting the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, we’re likely months away from a roll out. If there is one.
Samsung Canada’s confirmed Android Oreo support for the Galaxy Xcover4, Galaxy A8, Galaxy J3 Prime, Tab A8 and Tab A10.1. The regional arm says those updates will arrive later in 2018.
It makes no mention of the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge.
Having launched more than two years before than Android Oreo’s release, the Galaxy S6 is not eligible for the Android 8.0 update.
soo wait and see fellaazzz!!!
The S6 never get Oreo officially
In that way, the port of A8 2016 with Oreo is under development.
