I have many homescreen screen shots to verify it was never on before today or at least the icon was never there.

You must of accidentally turned it on then.
I leave it on as I have NFC stickers to automate tasks. You can hide status bar icons with System UI Tuner from the Play Store after using a few adb commands.

^ever seen a settings button before? no? then you probably shouldn't be fiddling with custom roms.
Any chance you tried to expand desktop and it just did not return to the prior settings. Try holding your power button and click on "expand settings" and check of toggling it solves your problem.

There is supposed to be quick settings like auto rotation and such... it's a normal feature of 4.+, lost after update, can't get it back
what are you talking about?? the toggles? like wifi on/off, gps on/off?
if so go to settings, systems, and turn toggles on.

There is no way to get it to display just the name of the person messaging you without also previewing the message is there?
Not sure what this is but that rectangle with an eye keeps popping up for just a sec and only on my lock screen. If I have the notification drawer pulled down it won't show up. Its creeping me out. Like someone is taking spy shots or something. Anyone know what this is?

Man it's the "Smart Screen" option in Display settings! :laugh:
It's also present everywhere anytime not also on lockscreen! It will run each X seconds to check if you are looking at the screen or not!
I have never had that option turned on. It only comes on when in the lock screen. Glad u got a hearty laugh out of it. I bow to your superior intellect. ?

Just noticed that swiping to capture screen not working. It is ON in Advanced Features. Menu button + Power button does do a screen capture however. No change with different launchers.
Can anyone duplicate or recommend a fix? Thanks

I got mine turned off usually, just turned it on for testing after I saw this thread, and it's working fine in both directions.
Is it not working sometimes? Or not at all?

Well I figured it out for my phone. I have the phone in a Caseology Wavelength case. Swipe Capture doesn't work. When I take the phone out of the case, swipe to capture works. I put the phone into a cheap clear gel case that I first got with the phone and swipe to capture works.. Very strange. Wonder what the case is doing to prevent the function.
Since 8.0 I can't find a way to disable split screen. Can anyone help me?

Double tap the double box next to the circle!
Hit it enough and it goes away!

I know how to turn it off if active. I want to disable the feature entirely. It activates and stupid times and I want the feature gone.
