This is great, but how can I also just get rid of the lock screen altogether? Is there some hidden setting? I am rooted, so I guess I should be able to whatever there is. Perhaps some auto-unlock app?

Try Settings -> Security -> Screen Lock -> None.

Yeah that works with the standard version ROM. It wasn't available on the Amazon one.

Yes, the Regular ROM has None in settings but the Amazon doesn't because of the ads.

Another reason it's not worth it to get the Amazon ad-supported version, at least for me.
It's only $30 cheaper and if you do a little work or with a little luck, you can get the unlocked version as cheap or cheaper at BB.

Great device!
Anybody managed to get the Quick controls from the "Lab" settings to work in the stock browser. It seems there are some problems with this feauture on the gal tab.
Also, are there any international versions out there yet? Mine only support UK/US English and Spanish. Samsung Netherlands "promised " that there will be an update. Wonder if there are roms floating around that have international support yet.

Pretty big omission. Will see if I can get the browser of the Xoom system dump to work. Btw there may be some interesting other goodies in this dump. The dump is posted in the Xoom development forum.
Update: I've just got it to work. There's a trick to it: you've got to slide 1 finger from the frame onto the screen.

Yes I'm familiar with it. I used it on the Xoom. But it doesn't seem to work on my Tab.
Umm.. weird. But try this anyway: I've got it to work once I got into debug mode. I'm pretty sure it didn't work before. So try it out, who knows.

Apologies if this has already been asked but I couldn't find anything. I just got my G2 last week and have discovered today that the Voicemate app is missing? Or at least I can't find it...
Any ideas? It's a UK model on EE network.
Another question if I may, the quick access menu that you get to by holding your finger on the home key then sliding up (where voicemate is supposed to be) Is there anyway of changing which apps are accessible here.

Don't think that Voice Mate should be on that menu on D802? Don't you find it if you search for apps in the phone either? Note the space in the name if you search...

It was more a curiosity thing, I can't believe that I'm the only one with this missing so wanted to see if there were others... Who knows what else is missing... :laugh:
I suppose I can live without it until such time as I root.

I bought a 16GB D-802 in Dubai and this too didn't have the voice mate app when I was on stock ROM.

I do have it, I have the international version.
Haven't used it a single time lol..
Now that we have root, is there a way to disable the screen from coming on with a new SMS/MMS? No I am not interested in a different text messaging app, I just want to know if anyone knows how to stop this from happening with the STOCK app.

This will definitely stop the screen from lighting up? I already have a csc editor so what needs changed?

Got one that was about 500mb in size. I noticed that going to the Face Recognition tab, an option called "Faster Recognition" is there. Personally i don't remember this option being there, do you find the same option as-well ?

There should be a "Faster Recognition" option that you could turn on in there.

Seems like i got a top secret update out of no where. I'm based in the UK and received this new update a few hours a go, i can also tell some people cannot seem to find this option. Check for updates.., this really made a difference to the face recognition for me.

Build "AQDD". I cannot seem to find people with this build as yet, at least for me i noticed a lot of improvement. Mysterious update, but good indeed.

I turned off automatic updates and had to go check for it. It is there for my Sprint phone. Holding off though.
Since we don't have a LED, is there a way to use the back flash as a notification light? I don't see the accessibility feature on OS 9.06 and several of the apps don't work for me. TIA

BTW, I did find an app that works, Missed call reminder, Flash on call. But, testing how much of a drain it will be. Will post results.

the screen thing worked but not the back flash. On a previous post I listed one that worked when you used an alternative flash method. It's pretty good so far. I'm just testing how much it will cost battery-wise. I'm going to try the CleanSlate Kernel too.
