and after that ? Is there a specific guide to unlock or it should work with normal command via fastboot mode?

You need to plug your phone into the computer in download mode after that and using Odin on a PC flash twrp.IMG.tar file for your specific device but make sure to turn off auto reboot in Odin.
Then once the file flashes successfully you need to pull out the battery, put it back in and reboot to recovery before doing anything else. If you reboot the os first then it will delete twrp and revert back to stock recovery so make sure to boot to recovery first

hi, thank you for you kind reply. So you are talking to install a custom recovery ! will this procedure either unlock the BL? I do not remember if TWRP image files are downloadeble also in .tar format and from their official site? Awaiting your reply

Installing a custom recovery is unlocking your bootloader. It means the same thing.
Here is the latest twrp in .tar format for your device (j5008) https://github.com/Galaxy-MSM8916/releases/releases/tag/TWRP-3.2.3-lineage-15.1_j8_20180921_j5ltechn

Are you sure that install a custom recovery will also unlock the bootloader? I don't think so! For me they are two different operation! Anyway my device is j510fn 2016 not j5008. Glad to start a conversation!

unlock bootloader
I've tried to unlock bootloader on my j510fn via fastboot but when ever I plug in device to the pc and running adb command, it stuk in downloading mode like when you make odin the platform to install recovery.tar and official firmware to newst. In a few words I can't unlocking bl via bastboot even if I have oem unlocked in the dev options.

There is no adb commands either this is a Samsung device you vacant unlock your bootloader by adb commands.
To unlock the boot loader download Odin to your PC.
Enable usb debugging and oem unlock in developer options of your phone.

Put the phone into download mode and connect to PC
Click the AP tab in Odin and find your twrp.zip.tar file.
Disable auto reboot in Odin.
Flash the file.
Pull out the battery
Reboot to recovery before rebooting the os and BANG unlocked bootloader with twrp installed

Revert back to locked state after unofficial unlock (Redmi note 3 pro/SD)

Hi All, I have unlocked the bootloader the unnofical way and i am on global 7.1.7.0(LHOMICL) with twrp and root.
I now have recieved the official sms to unlock from xiaomi.
Already i had to open the phone 3 times to get into edl mode. I really dont wont to open the phone agian.
When i try to unlock the tool answers no need to unlock. I think this is because i flashed the adapted emmc_appsboot.mbn and boot.img thru fastboot.
Do i have to change te rom to another version before i try thru edl or fastboot? What is the best procedure to official unlock now because i read a lot of bricks if they try to revert back to original state.
Can some one give me a detailed guide? Thanx in advance.
You need to flash a fully stock edl ROM on top of your current setup.
This will wipe out your hacked bootloader and throw the original (still locked) one back onto your device.
Then just unlock as usual. I did the procedure myself today already as I got my unlock notification today as well.
Ok thnx for the info. I have changed this global rom 7.1.7.0 in great extend and dont wont to lose this setup.
So can I backup my current setup with twrp with the hacked bootloader.
Flash the complete global 7.1.7.0 in edl mode. Unlock with the unlock tool.
Root the rom and install twrp.
After this can i restore the backup with the hacked bootloader with twrp?
I dont know how the unlock tool of xiaomi works, so i could leave the official bootloader in place when i do the restore with twrp and only replace system and data partition or can i flash all the parts back with twrp to keep the unlock?
Wich procedure will keep the official unlock in place or will this unlock stick always?

please give a detailed tutorial how to do it. I am now in AOSP with unofficially unlocked bootloader. How to relock it again to unlock officially?
Relock Bootloader
I see many asking how to Relock Bootloader, especially those who had unlocked unofficially.
The steps to be followed are following:
(1) Turn on USB debugging for your phone;
Go to Settings -- About Phone --> Touch 7 times on "MIUI version" to Enable Developer Options.
Now go to Settings - Additional Settings - Developer Options --> USB debugging.
Enable USB Debugging and Connect to PC.
(2) Download Fastboot ROM (file extension .tgz or .tar) from
Code:
http://en.miui.com/a-234.html
(3) Boot into EDL
adb devices (to check it's connected)
adb reboot edl
(4) Use MI Flash Tool to Flash the Fastboot ROM
PS: It is assumed that person knows how to get drivers installed for phone if not already, use ADB command as well as know MI Flash Tool basics.
@BRoy_98 @ioosis @davegrond : hope this helps.
@MrColdbird Thanks for the tip

On MiFlash, select folder of Fastboot ROM, then click on Advanced, and in fastboot script select flash_all_lock.bat. After it, close MiFlash then open it again and check in advanced if flash_all_lock.bat comes selected. If yes, close advanced box and flash ROM. Don't forget to close and open MiFlash after choose flash_all_lock.bat script, it's important step. And you can do it in Fastboot mode, don't need to go to EDL mode to flash the ROM.

warranty
does rooting redmi note 3 void warranty bcuz it has a locked bootloader and cannot root without unlocking it ????
and can we lock bootloader again for warranty claims ????
plzz help ???
ty.
Why can't we directly update the device..
Like after flashing miui ROM (7.1)then installing (8.1)....will the bootloader get locked....
?....somebody have any idea place help out
Q. Can the device be rooted without voiding warranty?
A. Yes, by unlocking the BL unofficially.
Q. Once rooted and on MiUI, can I update using Updater?
A. No! You'll lock your BL and end up in a bootloop. Instead, use the updater to download the zip file, reboot into recovery (TWRP or ZCX) flash the zip first and then the universal boot.img patched/lazy flasher and reboot to system.
I followed the method mentioned in the replies to relock the bootloader, i.e, flashed the fastboot rom in edl mode
But for some strange reason, when I entered the fastboot mode and checked whether the bootloader is locked or not by "fastboot oem device-info", it said "Device Unlocked: True"
The main problem came when I booted into the ROM; It broke all kinds of wireless connections. The wifi malfunctioned, the phone wouldn't read the SIM cards etc.
Is there a solution? Please help
Thanks

The only difference is that F has no Modem and SIM Slot for mobile Data but it works fine.
I only use it to root the device without actually flashing it.
Just put the twrp image in your ADB Folder on your PC, then run fastboot with the command:
Fastboot boot twrp.img
This uploads twrp on your device and boots it to twrp. You can leave the system recovery untouched and flash supersu for rooting.
The bootloader has to be unlocked of course.

No, no. You have to unluck it via fatboot as well.
1. Enable Developer Options
2. Enable "OEM unlocking" Option in there
3. Reboot to Bootloader (Restart and hold down Volume down)
4. Run fastboot oem unlock-go
Next, the Android Bot and a process Bar appears on the tablet and does it's thing. Once that's finished the Tablet restarts and enters the initial Android Setup Screen. So it unlocks the bootloader but ALSO performs a factory reset.

Brilliant! Thank you very much. Just got this Tab 3 yesterday and love it. Will love it even more with root+adaway.
It works great. I used adb & fast boot to unlock the bootloader & then boot from twrp image on PC and install SuperSu. Have been using Samsung for a long time but fast boot is much nicer, especially being able to boot a recovery without modifying partitions or filesystems on the device.

P9 Lite Bricked. Help me!!!

Hello,
I was always a Samsung fanboy, but than I decided to buy the P9 lite (VNS-L21 single sim)
I wanted to flash the android 7 update for my phone, but I was such a noob in Huawei, that I didn't understand a word. But i tried to do what the instructions said. Now my phone is bricked. I can go to recovery, erecovery (which can't download anyithing) and download mode. I heard of this fastboot stuff as well, but I don't know how to do this. I tried to flash as many roms as I could with dload and it didn't work, after 5%, it said it failed... Now I don't know what to do. I think somebody (expert) should make a clear tutorial for noobs. Oh and I almost forgot that i don't have root, custom recovery, and things like that. I just bought the phone, I didn't want to make big changes, just new android. Is it possible that after this Huawei would fix my phone, if I couldn't? Or warranty is void? And sadly I don't know more of my phone because I'm not ina rom, and the phone and papers don't say more.
If you could help me, I would appreciate it:
Raul
Turn off your phone, connect to the pc while holding the volume down button, you will end up in fastboot mode.
I assume you have ADB and drivers installed (if not, install ADB and device drivers).
Optional: unlock your bootloader if it's locked.
Download the latest offical rom zip for your phone version (the marshmallow one), extract the update.app.
Use Huawei extractor to ectract the following files (google is your friend in this one, but its not difficult):
boot.img
recovery.img
cust.img
system.img
After you've done this, connect your phone to the PC in fastboot mode .
Open a command promt from the folder where the extracted files are (shift+right click, Open Command window here), enter the following commands
fastboot devices (you will see the list of attached devices with a lot of random number + fastboot)
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
fastboot flash cust cust.img
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot reboot
After all this, you should be good to go, just be sure you are using the correct rom for you version.
Or you can just serach on the forum and find this.

Heyho,
the dload method works always without unlock bootloader. But, u can't flash for example an B161 over an B3xx (what nougat is) if the update u installed modified already the oeminfo u are not able to flash any rom below B3xx (nougat) via dload.
-
In that case u might use the official rollback package (never tested it myself) or, u unlock ur bootloader, flash a TWRP recovery matching to ur current FW. Flash from there a oeminfo + custom.bin (lower than B3xx) and flash the FW matching to the new oeminfo via dload and stock recovery.
Regards,
Sebastian
If you have custom recovery, wipe everything. Data, system, boot. extract update app (which is your stock rom) with huawei update extractor. go to custom recovery, flash stock boot IMG and stock recovery IMG. Power off, use three button dload method, reboot, when booting press vol up for three second, now you are in e-recovery. Press shutdown. Press and hold power and vol up for stock recovery. Do factory reset. If need do the factory reset 2/3 times. Now you are with locked bootloader.

How to Stock FW and Relock Bootloader? OP5

Hi all,
I've wanted to go back to Stock OS but when i type "fastboot oem lock" it says "FAILED <remote: Flashing Lock is not allowed."
Everything boots normally to OS 4.5.2. In DEV options the Unlock Bootloader is greyed out and says bootloader is already unlocked.
What can i do?
Cheers

Hello. I first thing I do always is to install drivers. I start by connecting the phone to the laptop in charge mode, then in transfer files mode, MTP or camera. In this way he will recognise all the drivers your laptop needs.
Also I enter in fastboot mode and recovery so the laptop can recognise the drivers and always reboot laptop and phone just to double check.
What I did was: go to Developer Options and enabled Unlock Bootloader and USB Debugging.
Then I accepted the laptop request on my phone and all drives were OK.
I run CMD and typed fastboot devices to see if it recognises my phone and it displayed a serial number. So I proceed next to type fastboot oem unlock and the process went OK and on my phone it asked Yes or No to unlock and I choose yes.
Then I flash a twrp image by typing on CMD: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img (my twrp I'm had other name so I rename it. You need to enable "Show file extensions" in Windows so you can see what the extension is).
I then type fastboot boot recovery.img and the phone entered in Recovery Mode in this case TWRP.
My phone was always connected to the laptop and he open the internal storage window so I drag the supersu inside.
Then on TWRP I wiped dalvik and cache and I went to Install and installed the SupeSU on my internal memory root.
The phone then rebooted and ready to go.
But then I went to developer options and the Unlock bootloader was greyed out. I unroot my phone and flashed a stock recovery for OP5 and the stock image 4.5.2 and when I type fastboot oem lock it always says it can't be flashed.
I need to stock it since I'm giving to a family member and they don't understand much about phones and If there's a problem the warranty doesn't cover.
Just installed supersu to try an app. I never install 3rd party roms.

I found now that if i take pictures or screenshots the Album Folder is empty. I think my phone is bricked. Hence i can't lock the bootloader.

if your phones boots its not bricked... My guess is that you data is corrupted, i would wipe everything including userdata en reflashing the stock with recovery.

Hi right before your comment i managed lol.
I re-flash the stock recovery and in recovery i reset and wipe everything. then i install the OS4.5.3 by ADB Sideload and it's working now.
Just wanted to get rid of the inital warning that my bootloader is unlocked. I want to lock again.
I rooted my device with Magisk, and now I want to restore it to factory state.
I flashed stock recovery and OOS several times, wiped everything but fastboot oem lock failed all times (FAILED (remote: Flashing Lock is not allowed)).
Can you help me?
What should I do to relock bootloader?
here is your solution

here in this video u can see in detail how to lock bootloader. hope this help you
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQYCSdDUdAU
HOW TO RELOCK..
Install TWRP and Magisk if you don't have them yet.
Magisk should allow you to slide "OEM unlocking" to "enabled"
Reboot to fastboot
Flash stock recovery via fastboot.
Run locking via fastboot flashing lock
Allow it to reboot and upon start up it will say device corrupted (THIS IS NORMAL)
Boot to recovery via the warning start screen.
Once in recovery, sideload latest FW.
Profit.
I usually do it this way (successfully):
Wipe everything but OTG in TWRP
Format data
Reboot to TWRP
Flash the full stock OOS zip
Reboot to fastboot
Flash stock recovery
Lock bootloader with the fastboot lock command
Has anyone made any progress with this? I too am having the issue as described and have tried the solution by Ricyksydhu, along with solutions from various other places around the net.

Flashing custom ROM on my S5 Neo G903W

I feel like I am doing something wrong here and can't figure out
I have a Samsung Galaxy S5 Neo (Virgin Mobile, Canada) G903W
I have been looking at this thread to flash LineAge OS
I can't post link but its title is
Lineage OS 14.1 for Galaxy S5 Neo (G903F, s5neoltexx) Nougat ROM
on cyanogenmod website
First off is unlocking bootloader and install TWRP, which looks simple but it isn't
Pre note: OEM unlock is enabled, rooted with chainfire/odin, USB debugging is on
I have installed ADB Fastboot on my Windows 10 PC
Got the correct TWRP image (twrp-3.1.1-2-s5neolte.img)
Then I used the instruction to download TWRP with adb
typing adb reboot bootloader just reboots the phone normally. I can still get to download mode by using combination of home+power+volume down
fastboot oem unlock just sits at <waiting for device>
same thing with fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.1.1-2-s5neolte.img
I seem to be able to flash it with Odin by pressing AP and choose the tar file but upon rebooting to download mode it just shows normal download mode screen, not TWRP.
This is my first post here, if I made any mistake or needed any more information please let me know.

just dl twrp for ur device as .tar file and flash with odin, same procedure with CF-root
here's the link https://dl.twrp.me/s5neolte/
By default Odin will reset after flashing, you need to disable this and try again. Go to the options tab and disable "Auto-Reboot".
You must boot directly to recovery mode on the first boot, otherwise it will automatically override everything and go back to the stock bootloader. TWRP warns you about this in the instructions.
Fastboot is not an option for the s5 neo. Because theree doesnt seem to be a bootloader option. Odin. Adb only will work with adbd insecure app. Or modding sbin file
---------- Post added at 05:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:46 AM ----------
Make sure you have developer mode open on your phone. Select allow oem. Or set to unlock. Make sure usb debugging is enabled.
Turn the phone off.
Volume down+home button+power to open the download mode on your phone.
Open odin on your PC. Select AP
Make sure your phone is detected. You make need usb drivers..
When you see you phone on odin and the file you selected is checked by odin.
Click start. Done. Of course you must know this if youre rooted. Oops. Otherwise do that first. Same process but with the autoroot file
I'm pretty sure the problem is flashing a ROM for G903(F) on a G903(W) device

thats not a problem at all
the differences between all s5 neo models (G903F, G903M and G903W) are so minimal that you can ignore them safely
the main differences are that they are made for different countries to meat their mobile standards (eq. support the lte bands that are used in that country)
i havent found a single critical difference between these devices based on their specs

Is this true? I'm actually facing the same situation as the OP with a SM-G903F here. Just asking out of curiousity, not actually trying to flash the device.
