Please help.....my phone keeps rebooting - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HI EVERYBODY
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY GALAXY S5 G900F
IT KEEPS REBOOTING SO I TRIED A SOFTWARE AND IT DIDN'T WORK
SO I FLASHED A CUSTOM ROM THEN IT WORKED FOR A WEEK AND THE PROBLEM SHOWED UP AGAIN
SO NOW EVERYTIME I FLASH A CUSTOM ROM THE PHONE WORKS FOR COUPLE OF DAYS AND THEN THE SAME PROBLEM KEEPS COMING BACK
..
..
..
ANY IDEAS

Hi there,
Can you please define what "a software" means? What custom ROM did you install? Have you tried reflashing stock ROM and try isolating the problem (so, don't install you're usually apps, test them one by one) whether it is an app caused issue or hardware (happens regardless of app/ROM install)? Have you considered getting a new battery? Apologies for the vague questions but the level of detail provided is not sufficient for us users to effectively help.
Regards, Saber

HEY.....thanks for reply

I tried lots of custom rom like lineage os 14.1 , cm 13 and flyme os
The only apps i use are social media apps, nothing needs root access or may be harmful
Yes i tried a new battery and it didn't work
Sorry for bad English

You mentioned changing the battery? Is it a Samsung original battery replacement? Cos I think mine was caused by overheating up to 70C and rebooting. I'm planning to under clock in a while.

Nope, it's not original but i'll try that
But why it takes couple of days to brick even when the phone is not in use

i think the main problem here is the part that detect the battery percentage, or atleast the battery itself. Since i plugged in my phone then it hanged so i had to pull out the battery then put it back on while still plugged in, then my batter percentage increased from 24% to 45% by just doing that.
thoughts?

But if the part that detect the battery percentage is broken, that's mean we have to replace the entire motherboard

Horrible battery life

https://imgur.com/a/uw1yr
I'm running Resurrection Remix on the latest build and have been having horrible battery life (about 2 hours sot) since quite a while now. I now charge like 2-3 times a day and overnight...
I recently did a clean wipe and reinstalled all my apps while only restoring Google authenticator and wifi passwords with titanium backup. I'm rooted with Magisk. I bought my Axon7 quite exactly one year ago. Have I fried my battery?

No, not really... I mean I can set a power profile, but that doesn't really do much.
I have to confirm that again, but if I turn on Airplane mode, my battery is a beast. I think there's some sort of drain coming from the kernel or something

You could try flashing a different modem for your model.
Maybe an app or two also keeping it awake and trying for a network? Not getting a deep sleep in doze.
Stock ROM has power manager and I suspect that is the only reason I get a day from mine.
If you're still suffering I suggest you go back to stock or reflash properly as in step by step and make sure nothing has gone wrong.

Where would I get that? I believe a friend helped me flash one a few weeks ago, but I don't remember where it was from. (I've had the issue before too, though)
I get this too. Absolutely horrible battery life. Well this started happening after I flashed the B32 bootstack and stock system to fix my camera issues. At first I thought it was the stock rom but I flashed candyrom and the llama sweet kernel EAS version and I still get it. I do think it's the phone signal but I'm not sure yet. I used to drop to 98% in about 10-20 minutes with WiFi on and screen on. Now I lose 10% in that time. I went from 98% (it doesn't even want to fill charge anymore but I think it's the kernel) to 92 in 10 minutes.

I feel you... I really hope it's just basically a software issue... If you have any solution, please, please update me and the others here - i just flashed the kernel that got recommended to me and I'll try if it makes things better. Otherwise I'll wait for Oreo, I guess...
I'm not even that sensible to bad battery life in phones because i always carry a powerbank, but if the phone barely makes it to work in the morning and I have to recharge it at work at 25% or so, it gets a little annoying ^^

True that...I don't believe it to be the battery. It could be software. I noticed that my battery usage spikes up to 1140+ mAh and stablizes at 460 mAh which is way too much. I remember only getting up to 430+ in worst cases and stabilizes at 200-300+
Here's what my battery usage looks like:

Fullstock is how I got into this mess i think, since this started happening as soon as I flashed B25 bootstack and stocksystem. But the new baseband, I'll try that and see how it goes. However that's B25, we're on B32 so hopefully someone posts the new modem. I have not tried flashing an older bootstack as I somehow doubt that will fix it. Granted, i noticed my battery life starting to wear while I was on an older bootstack while on DARK rom.
ediit: it seems i'm already running this modem version. https://imgur.com/a/8jeEh

battery problem

Hi everyone.
I am using sm910c from premiere in 2014. I love this phone. But somewhere in the middle of 2017 my phone starts to have a problem with battery. When i am using it the battery level starts to drop down very fast. Like 1-1.5h and boom 0%.. And i dont mean games.. i mean reading, writing, internet.... so i buy in official store new battery for my note4. I did super wipe... everything i installed from begining. Than i did calibration for battety. Nothing... still got max 2h of using it. Even now... i lost 13% battery to write this. I got last stock rom and rooted without twrp.
Any suggestions?

? New or old whatever... same thing
My note 4 used to have awful battery life, but I found that flashing original stock firmware (android 4.4.4), using odin, did improve performance and battery life significantly. It didnt magically make it super fast and have eternal battery but it did make a noticeable difference.
Just look up your model number firmware online and download (Sammobile is a good website to use), and flash using Odin.
Same me...
I recencly bought two new batteries for my note 4...
One is orginal samsung packige and second from other company...
Both have same problem...
They doesnt charge up to 100%...
Both stops average on 65%...
When i take out battery and put back after few sec battery level is average 95%
Why?
No root, no factory resets from boot...
Charger also is samsung orginal brand...

N910C overheating?

Hello!
Just got a note 4 from my friend to play with since he's not using it anymore. The problem is that the phone heats up a lot whenever its on, even if the screen is off.
My guess is that the processor receives too much power from the battery? Or is it possible that the problem is related to the CPU? Or is it the battery?
Right now im tempted to buy a new replacement battery just to see if the battery is the problem. But i hope for some advice if you guys have experienced this before. Thanks!
Update 1: Changed the battery. The drain is much slower compared to before but the phone still gets really hot. Any idea why?
I have the same problem. I am not sure why overheating happens but I think about few things: constant Wi-Fi activity, a lot of installed apps, low free memory.
I just ordered a battery to see if its the problem
Yesterday my phone was very hot and very slow. I thought battery can't be the reason but I was wrong. I replaced my few months used battery with my old one and phone worked normally. So battery can be the reason for overheating.

I tried nemesis and erobot but they were pretty laggy since i had to use minimum clock speeds or else it gets hard to hold the phone cause of the heat. Also i think one of them had spacelemon kernel but i couldnt change the clock speeds and the phone became unbearably hot so i quicky changed to bliss then superstock
Got a new battery today will pop it in when i get home.

When im in the OS yes it does. But when i was in TWRP last night it was pretty normal unlike the time before the new battery. Also the idle drain is disturbingly fast i left it on last night and when i woke up today it was fully drained. Still trying to find out if there are apps causing the drain
Maybe latest firmware cause that. I am planning to flash 5.1.

It runs relatively cooler (like cool enough that i can use it without a case without burning my hand, it just gets warm) on rulinglite rom which is on the 5.1.1 version so it does have something to do with the firmware maybe. The battery still drains too much though even in safe mode so im not sure anymore on whats the problem on my note 4

Unfortunately nothing i try fixes the overheating i read at a note 5 forum that his phone overheats constantly because of the too many charging cycles probably damaged the motherboard. I think that might be the cause of overheating here too.
Also no problem with unmounting or anything else. Just the overheating and the massive battery drain even when the screen is off

Sad to say that these note 4's probably cant be used as daily drivers anymore i have to charge mine to every 3 hours lol since thats all the battery life it can give on a single full charge
Such a shame since the screen is so good and the camera is super crisp too. I will probably just use it for some daylight photography haha

I have a dead Samsung S8, can I fix it?

This post is probably hardware related, so I hope it's not that irrelevant here.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S8, SM-G950FD that hasn't been used for over a year because it's gone completely dead. Won't turn on, not even battery charging display, i tried charging it overnight and still no results, the battery doesn't even get warm. I've tried bringing it to a service center but they don't fix Samsung phones, so I decided to try fixing it by myself.
The first thing I do is I check the battery, it does look weird but I'm not sure if it's the main problem. Here's the image of the battery.
My question is, could the battery be the reason the phone won't turn on? or could it be other things such as my charging port, or the display screen itself?
Again, sorry if I made a mistake somewhere, thanks for any help.

If the port board fails it won't charge. Could that be what started this?

shouldn't new batteries always at least have some charge when they arrive?

If they are good they have to unless they reached their auto shutdown voltage. Typically they have a 50-70% charge.
Hell you can get a used N10+ for $300 and up. It's a quantum leap in performance.
Do you have any indication it is booting? Like do you feel it getting warmer? If you do it could be a bad screen. I have an S8 with a bad screen and it's just blank but I can tell it's booting because of it getting warmer and vibrating. I think the S8s are known for having the screens fail. I can get a replacement screen on Aliexpress.com for less than $100 but it would only be worth it to me if I could put on a custom ROM. Unfortunately, bootloaders on snapdragon S8s can't be unlocked and probably never will be. So it's not worth it and I guess it's going to the recycler.
The irony is that my old Exynos S7 is happily running a custom Android 12 ROM and doing everything I need it to do. So if you are in the market for a super cheap unlockable Android phone you can't go wrong with an Exynos S7 running Custom Android 12 ROM.
I just bought an Exynos S10 off ebay which will be replacing my S7. Qualcomm/Samsung can go pound sand trying to force us into upgrading our phones every few years.

My phone won't do anything. The screen doesn't show anything i cant feel vibrations.

my phone wont do anything. i plugged it in a wireless charger and it shows as charging but nothing is happening. it doesnt turn on or do anything.
the last thing i did on it was flash android 12 rom, and it kept shutting down due to heating up. after that i flashed back to a one ui rom where it was fine, then it shut down and now this.
please help.
Welcome to XDA
Is the battery good?
Personally I wouldn't have upgraded it past 9...

I mean, the battery was fine. It just used to overheat without me doing anything and it'd shutdown.

Might have fried something on the mobo like the SOC. Forced thermal shutdowns aren't good.
