Community development strength - Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Real Life Review

You're a power user. Can the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 keep up? Rate this thread to express how "healthy" the development scene is for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. A higher rating indicates available root methods, kernels, and custom ROMs.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!

Simply the best Samsung I've ever had and I've had quite a few (7) of them, it just leaves something to be desired in the themes segment if it just had some more options and setups in theming department.

I came from note 3 and it seems to me that there was a lot more dev activity there and variety of roms. This might just be because I really miss lineage though but hopefully all this will pick up when oreo comes.

Agreed...development so far for the Note 8 is decent, but definitely not better than Note 3/Note 4 days. At least not yet

The phone is still recently new and still very expensive. hope to see more devs come on as the phone will get cheaper.

[Q] Note 2 Custom ROM vs Note 3 rooted

Does anyone have experience running Note 2 Custom ROMS and can provide comparisons to running Note 3 rooted after pruning all the bloat?
Trying to decide between the two and was looking for some straight comparisons, such as snappiness, visual quality in graphical programs/games, and possibly s-pen recognition/accuracy.
One particular thing I'm interested to know is how hooking up to a smart dock compares between the two, what resolutions they output and any interesting performance comparisons with that specifically.
I asked some similar questions at this post, but this is much less AT&T specific.

i say its best you try out both and decide which one u prefer.
when i got my first fone(the glorious htc HD2) i played around with their original/modded roms vs cm/aosp and i found i prefer CM6(latest back then) because of its ease of use and minimalistic looks.
it took a bit of getting use to but once i did,i found i love CM more as the days went by.
I have the note 2 and note 3 and had them since their early launch.used both TW and CM.i still prefer the simplistic nature of CM.and TW cannot even come close to it.
Plus, with a customised rom,u get rid of all that samsung bloatware and free your ram & memory so the phone can perform better and have more space to store things.
that being said, there are pros and cons between the 2,the best is you give each one a go.
My opinion, even though i have the note 3 now,i still use my note 2 with CM 10.1.3 because its rock stable and minimalistic.if i cannot put cm in my note 3,i'd probably sell it off since its practically worthless with all its hardware glory but useless TW rom.
Thanks for the response. So even though the note 3 is supposed to be blazing fast at everything compared to the note 2 in terms of specs, you find yourself using the note 2 more often because of the custom ROM making it that much more easy to use, familiar, snappy etc.? The more you can elaborate on a comparison the better, especially with custom ROM + note2 vs note3.
I'm really looking for like you responded, tons of opinions on performance considerations between the two. I've tried tons of custom ROMs on the android phones i've used in the past, and I'm hesitant to try one on the note 2 that I got at best buy recently because I'm seriously considering just getting a note 3 for the performance alone and being done with it. I really like the size of the notes and the s-pen functionality in particular so all it comes down to at this point is whether giving up custom ROMs for the note3 is worth it.

i use note 2 more becoz i like CM and not TW.Stock TW runs alot of useless apps on the background.eating up my ram,cpu and battery.not only does that affect performance(battery life, snappiness etc),its irritates the hell out of me when i see apps i dun use running in the background.and the interface on TW is pretty bloated,i usually change CM launcher to Nemus launcher for minimalistic look and performance...again customisability.
if you want a detailed comparison,i can't give you. but what i can let you know is the following:
-note 3 specs are better note 2 obviously.
-note 3 on TW performs abt the same as note 2 on CM.its snappy,no lag issues.spen fuctionality is limited on CM and full on TW(for obvious reason).so imagine if you put CM on note 3,it will be the ****z.
-note 3's battery life is on par with note 2 on CM.this is due mainly with kernel and rom issues since CM in minimalistic and running minimal apps in the background as compared to stock, unmodded TW on note 3.put CM or a modded TW in,note 3 will beat note 2 hands down.
-note 2 does not have knox, while note 3 has, that is a major crap every note 3 users are facing.this means, flashing customised rom or recovery will trip knox counter and will limit your note 3 to pretty much paper weight.
-note 3 uses usb 3,that means faster charging and data transfer rate and its backward compatible with usb 2.a major improvement in my opinion and its not using some proprietary cables like crapple.
in all,i find the improvements on note 3 and note 2 are about 30-35%. except for a higher resolution,a slighty faster 4 core cpu,a slight better gpu, abt 1 gb more ram, and a bigger battery/screen.
compared that with a note to a note 2,the improvements are like almost 60% imo.
but its best to get new phones than old imo.coz when every one starts moving to newer model of phone, development for old ones will start to die.unless its the HD2..where it never dies.....lol.

My N2 for a Nexus 5

My brother bought a Nexus 5 and he doesn´t like it. He said if I want we can change (my note 2 for his Nexus 5) and despite the bovious prices difference what you do in my place? I am very satisfied with my Samsung and will put a new rom to give a extra live (it has official 4.4.2).
Thanks and sorry for my bad english

If you can compromise with battery life and screen size then go for it. Snapdragon 800 will blow your mind. Camera is also not that great in N5 but it'll do the job just right.
I say go for it.
I don't know if that is a good idea, I'd keep the Note. You can't really compare these 2 devices in terms of Performance. N5 runs stock, N2 runs TouchWiz. Stock Android is and will always be buttery smooth. TouchWiz can also be quite smooth and that stuff but yeah, it is a skin of Android which might be not so smooth and fast all the time but with KitKat, it's pretty fast.
N5 has a really small battery and the Note 2s battery blows the N5 out of the way. N5s display is LCD and the N2 has a SAMOLED Display but lower PPI but anyways, think twice, seriously. I had the Nexus 4 for 2 months and I missed my Note 2 so much, the Nexus 4 was really crap compared to the Note.
Just my 2 cents.
Gesendet von meinem GT-N7100 mit Tapatalk
Never ever, cause Nexus may be fast, smooth and other pleasant things, but in fact and from my point of view: BORING
You can have pure Android experience on Note 2 too (AOSP-roms), but you'll never feel the flexibility of having S5, Note 3 features or even Note 2 S-Pen on a Nexus.
If someone would donate me a Nexus I would sell it to even get a second N2.
Thanx for the answers; it´s really hard to decide and the phones can´t be compared. The only way to both be satisfied that I can think now is, I change with him, sell the nexus and buy a note 3... Here in Souht America the prices are very different (almost twice the price for a nexus 5 new to one used N2).
Ok i own a galaxy nexus right now, about nexus devices being boring is a fact they are, but when that happens u just swap your rom, this week i will have my note 2 back, however i will not sell galaxy nexus for now
The advantages
galaxy nexus
always updated,
butter smooth,
a lot of customization,
The disadvantages
no memory card,
recovery problems, cause of internal storage(once i ve done a full wipe and i had no rom on it, a big mess)
note 2
big screen (major advantage)
battery
sdcard
disadvantages
serious software problems(SDS)
my final veredict is, if you are a flashoolic and u just love custom roms, go for a nexus(of course you will have to say goodbye to battery and screen) if u just dont like to flash roms that much and u seek more for watch moovies or play hd games stick with the note,
keep also in mind that u can sell the nexus and buy a note 3 with some more money

Kindly disagreed:
SDS is mostly a myth and overrated (whenever phone freezes, people start crying about SDS)
I can port nearly every device on Note 2 but no Touchwiz rom on a nexus (just take a look around Dev forum and my signature).
So, for flashoholics like me there is only Note.

Respectfully disagreed,
I am a regular follower of XDA and some sites and flash many things just even to try sometimes. I also get bored easily with regular software and like to try new ways of using the phone.
If you like to use Note 2 "as is" then it is still a great phone (even greater than some newer phones). However trying new things with that phone is not about discovering what's new on the developers' world, instead it is mostly about "trying a new cure"..
I recently updated my Note 2 to 4.4.2 and then broke my warranty out of curiosity. TW KitKat is really good for people who are looking for a good phone. But then I went for Paranoid Android. The next thing I was looking for to flash was a camera cure because of the problematic camera. After that got solved, now my WiFi is not turning on without a restart and there is not even one person who mentions it on the main topic (I will, but...). In addition to that there is very low volume problem of the sound recording (whether it be a video or just voice) and there is no solution to this either.
I had bought a Nexus 4 and given my Note 2 to my sister. After 5 months she wanted my Nexus and offered my Note 2 back. I couldn't say no cause she really wanted it. Now I have two data coming from two different persons, one is a flashocolic and the other is just a user who likes iPhones etc. The one thing in common is that they both prefer the Nexus.
Because there is really a solution to everything on the Nexus world, software-wise. But here, on Note 2's world, it's like yesterday that the devs were reprehending people with complaints by saying "do it yourself if you can!!!" out of the anger to Samsung not sharing sources.
There is solution to Nexus battery problems too (you could call that a problem only after a Note). Just buy a power bank and you'll get even more battery time than a Note.
On the camera wise, Note 2 is really good. I believe that is the only thing without a solution for a Nexus device. A Nexus sometimes can match with Note 2's camera but never outdo it.
For every other thing you want or you might wanna have in the future, a Nexus is a better and more open possibility..

Can i ask you how many notes2 have u had?
well i had 2 and both died in the night, i couldnt do nothing, `
so please dont tell me that sds doesn't exist, "i had nightmeers about it ahah"
now im getting my note 2 after a Motherboard replacement.
and whats this and this
I do not want to convince anybody. It is only my point of view at the beginning of developing own roms and the possibilities with this ancient device are still outstanding. Certainly better is the Note 3 and the upcoming Note 4.
My dream is Xperia Z2 on Note 2 with S-Pen features and hopefully soon...... :fingers-crossed:

I am supporting on several forums and in many languages and I have seen SDS in realty.
BUT and that is also true: If thousand users ask, if they maybe have SDS cause device seems to die, always freezes, bootloops aso. there is not even one who really suffers from that issue.
And at last your links to Sammy roms on Nexus: You can't be serious to compare that kind of stuff with the abilities of S-Pen.
Kind regards

REALLY!?!?
THIS IS A DEVICE FROM 2011 with these specs
can u tell me what was the first device receiving a port on htc sense 6?
well let's see if note 2 gets first android L than galaxy nexus?
i'm not triyng to convince anybody either, i'm just seiing things as they are, and note 1,2 and 3 are devices with remarcable specs on hardware, but in therms of updates and customization u know who rules.
I have my N2 for about a year and half, and never ever been in trouble with it: good battery life, specs and apps, but to tell the truth I use the s-pen just a few days... It´s like new in this moment as I recently installed the DN3 (awesome rom).
Please, who has the Nexus 5, what is the estimated time of battery (use my N2 without bluetooth disbled only and supports a entire day) and what can be done to enhance it?

No doubt about that last statement :good:
Note 2 will never get Android L. for sure, BUT developers will port it to N2 anyway and anyhow in the near future :highfive:

lets hope so, i will get mine this week
That´s right, the community of N2 is strong and with no doubt we will have the Android L... Well, let´s study about this negociation N2 x N5...
I guess I am losing some arguements here..
For those who believe S Pen is on top of the "advantages list", that 1024 different pressure senser is only functioning for some of the Samsung built-in apps and an all called Papyrus (as far as I know). Besides, as a person who losev to draw/sketch (and take notes with hand writing) I have now 2 options; a Nexus 7 with bigger screen and a good touch-pen (which can be bouth seperately from anywhere) or my Note 2 with a special pen but also with a smaller screen. I ca nassure you, bigger screen has the advantage here so IF you are into professioanal drawing with all the bells and whisles of that pen either buy a pen and touch-mat set for your laptop or get a Note 10.1. Note 2 (or any 5.x " sized place ) is only suitable for small sketches and hand writing notes which gives nothing to the pressure differentiation. So, basicly it's a feature and it's there. Of course I am note taking it as an disadvantage, but it's not a choice changer.
For those who picks the battery life as a winner; that is definetely true. If you want all your time in one housing any Note phone is a way to go. But if we are calculating the total volume, than a regular phone with an external battery or powerbank would be almost same.
For those who enjoy the big screen and out ir on top of the list; now that's unique. however it's hard to write with one hand -say, on the bus- no matter how big your hands are. And when you are confortable to use the dervice in any way you like, only than the screen size comes as an advantage. But -like in the pen situation- if yo reallty want a bigger screen, this is just a big phone, not a tablet.
One more thing with the screen, it's one of the best screens Samsung has ever made. But today every brand is giving bigger screens to their devices and the colors are much better on most of other phones. Please don't tell me AMOLED is the future with it's super blacks of infinite contrasts etc. Any Xperia screen, or any of he last 2 Nexuses have better screens and much more accurate color reproduction. Even though Samsung has given us 4 scenerios to choose, there is no "true" color choice there. And there is no true whites on that screen. So, black is just one color (which Samsung also fails to give us, look carefully and most of you'll notice that blacks are not same everywhere on the screen) to brag, but all the other colors are unrealistic.
For those who wants to give the credit to the Wolfson sound chip, now that's correct Nothing to say here. Quallcomm is just getting warmt with their new SoCs on the music busniess and we all know HTC's afforts are mostly for advertising.
And also the camera, maybe the best of it's time. Sadly it is bought from Sony but all the camera software and HAL is completely re-written by Samsung and not shared to the public. So any AOSP ROM lovers has to deal with problems on the camera (I believe, the devs that made to this far created a miracle, not thanks to SAmsung of course)
And about ROM porting; IF TouchWiz is so good why need for porting frıom other ROMs? AOSP is so "empty" for some people so they port other ROMs to Nexus phones or they create AOSP for other phones so they can be clean and open. But why port Xperie and Sense ROMs to a TouchWiz based and un-shared device? I guess deep down we all know, no matter how much goodness it contains inside, TouchWiz will make everyone bored and feel unprofessional?
And the Samsung build quality, I wish there was a way to ignore this.
Please don't misunderstand me. I love my Note 2. It would be an incredebly better and longer lifed device if Samsung shared more about it. But I don't see ant of its features as unique and irreplacable. And Nexus 5 has a bigger family with an easier life for an average XDA follower (or for just a curious person)
Probably will change the devices until wednesday and return to post my impressions. As my brother wish a lot since I buy the N2 and the difference in prices here I can´t say no. In last scenary I´ll sell or change the N5 for another phablet... thanks to everyone who asked and post comments.
I'll take N5 if I were you because I prefer stock!:good:
take the N5, sell it, buy another N2, keep the profit.
dude i have both nexus 5 and note 2(both active usage) with kitkat
FOR ME ,i love the nexus 5
nexus 5 is more compact,light ,performance beast,nice and fast ui,quick updates,high res screen without oversaturated tones,nice camera(with hdr+)
BUT
if battery life is really what you need then go for note2 ..i get about 22hrs-23hrs of usage with a bit less than 3hrs screen ontime with nexus 5
with note 2 i get just a bit less than 2 days with the same usage
but nexus 5 has heating issues
note 2 has expandable memory which might be a big deal for some people(me),and much louder speaker, big screen size
...go with n5 but if u need battery, expandable storage, and s-pen..and lag then go for note2

Move to N5X

I thought I'd post a thread for my fellow S6 users planning to move to the N5X.
I had the S6 with me since the launch day itself. I was hoping that due the popularity of the S lineup there could be CM support just like S3 had.
After almost 9 months of waiting I finally gave up.
Yes there is CM for S6 but it is no where near stability. Without a maintainer there wont be any. Samsung will never release sources for exynos.
These facts however cold they maybe are straight forward facts. The CM source we have has a lot of work to be done, and I am not talking about 2 or 3 lines of code. Hals need to be written from scratch and tested. I believe in open source mindset. If I have paid almost 800 usd for a piece of hardware I should have the right to put whatever software I want.
So finally I moved to the 5X.
1) The build does not feel cheap, its lighter than the s6 yet sturdy and does not feel fragile.
2) The power button is not as tactile as the one on the S6.
3) Display is really good. 1080 is enough and I have to try really hard to see the difference between fhd and qhd. This is my first IPS LCD phone all others have been amoleds and I am pleased to say that the display on N5X is really subtle on the eyes.
4) Camera is very good, almost close to the s6. The cam app is not that great but I am using manual camera so it dont matter.
5) BATTERY LIFE! N5X only loses 1% charge over night. Doze is just amazing. I am almost getting 6 to 6.5 hrs of SOT over a 1.5 to 2 days of usage. I'm pretty sure I can push it to 8hrs of SOT.
6) Fingerprint scanner is faster than the S6. and the positioning is more natural.
7) The front speaker is really good. I can hold the phone without worrying about blocking the speaker.
8) Fast charging is pretty much the same as S6.
9) Earpiece quality and clarity are 2x better than the one on S6 imo.
10) The phone does not throttle or heat up even on heavy use. SD 808 is just working fine.
So if you are planning to move on to 5X or 6P, I would say go for it.
P.S. I am not here to badmouth our beloved S6. I love the phone, but the software just doesn't live up. Stock android is 100% better than touchwiz when user experience is concerned.
Are your comparisons based on the s6 on lollipop or marshmallow? Cos a lot of the things have improved a hell of a lot on marshmallow for s6 and that's just beta and not final version. The 6p yes, 5x nahh
No front physical home button, no care.
I had a N4 and N7 (2012 & 2013). Meh.
Wider, taller and thicker. The 2 extra mm in width is especially noticeable in the hand--at least it was when I held it. The S6 is pretty much the limit for me in terms of size. But the worst thing about the NX5 is onboard memory. 32g max. That is the ultimate deal breaker. I keep a lot of music on my phone and like to store locally whatever movies I buy from the Play store or videos I watch from Amazon Prime so I don't need a connection to watch. Plus, it drains far less battery than streaming. A 10-episode series on Prime is like 11g by itself. Come on, get with the times and at least provide the option of 64g model.

Moral of the story: Don't buy a Samsung product (especially with an Exynos SoC) unless you're willing to live with TW. Things have changed since 2012.

I wish we had codeworkx working on S6. Samsung is being a real pain in the a s s. I do understand that their code has some really vital info that could help it's competitors but they can at least provide the basic documentation for the exynos soc.

That makes no business sense. Probably fewer than a few percent of users want to flash custom ROMs, and encouraging them to do so by releasing full sources only increases costly warranty claims. They've totally snubbed the development community, so it's time for us to either be content with TW or move on, IMO.

You guys over exagerate quite alot..stock rom especially with marshmallow is fast and smooth...im getting between 5.30-6 hours sot...
Nexus 5x is a inferior product compared to the s6...even the nexus 6p is not on par with the s6...the only one which is going to be worth getting in my opinion is the upcoming s7..and im going to get the s7 exynos variant not the snapdragon one.. simply because it will be faster.

I never said that S6 was a slow phone. It's about what's opensource and what's not. Touchwiz on the S6 is the best I've seen on a samsung device. But the way samsung heavily modifies aosp and does not tell us is very unfair. Look at sony, they got their custom timescape UI, but still they support AOSP and provide the right sources.

i wish samsung makes marshmallow tw as good as stock

by 3-4 months google will announce Android N release. Then there will be another reason to wait for samsung to release some source.
If you want development, the S6 shouldn't even be in contention. We buy the S6 for premium build and the built in tech like fprint scanner, IR Blaster, Heart Rate Monitor and crazy gorgeous screen.
Even with that ****ty CM, half the tech built in will not work properly so why buy the S6 hoping for CM?

The funny thing is... You sent this from an Iphone.
To the OP, any issues with the reported lag on the 5x? I'm looking elsewhere from my s6 because even on that "premium" phone, I get lag opening hangouts and even at times typing. I never had any problems on my previous original nexus 5.
I'm really stuck in this same move myself. I bought a s6 when my nexus 5died because it was the best hardware around. Little did I know that the monster of a processor would be gimped by poor ram management. I bought a 5x during the holidays and I really enjoy the stock Android and solid battery life.
Then they came out with the marshmallow beta and fixed most of my reservations - ran management, keyboard killing, fingerprint sensor speed, and standby drain. The mm build is competitive in enjoyment, at least until the next nexus comes out.

I would be running a Nexus 6P if I didn't think that the SD810 was a step backward from the Exynos!

Hardcore nexus and flashaholic user here since g1days. S6 is my first samsung. I had nexus 4, nexus 5, OPO, Nexus 6 most recently. 6 was nice but too bulky.
I'm really enjoying the stock samsung experience. Getting 4.5 hours SOT. Fast charge is super nice and I love spay and ir blaster remote. I run action launcher. I'm officially a reformed flashaholic.
Camera on this phone is excellent.

I'm flasholic since i9000/9003. Last hardware running on cm was klte. Really like the layer theme and so on but after using new tw on s6, my bad behaviour gone slowly. And after trying beta 6.0 tw I send the resignation letter to bug hunter division. I guess I already too old for bug fighting.

I have a s6 and just bought a nexus 6 , thats a great phone and cheaper than the 5x , keeping both , as they both have thier plus and minus , use my s6 with the gear vr and that is cool to watch movies , so plan to keep the s6 after the s7 is out for the vr side.

[DISCUSSION] What phone do you buy next time and why?

My biggest reasons to leave Samsung is because of the updates and features that doesn't come to older devices like features of the s7 to the s6. I'm really really sick of samsungs updates always late.
I just want to know what phone you gonna buy next time and why?
1.) OnePlus 5
2.) Nokia 8
3.) LG G6
4.) Samsung Galaxy s8
5.) Pixel 2
6.) Huawei p10
7.) Sony Xperia XZ Premium
the S8 is the #1 phone in my mind, hope they do something new, the pixel is ugly, the V20 is an LG...which i hate...and their UI is the worst, the iphone is......no need to say.....so the S8 might be the only phone for me....
I'm actually switching to the iPhone 7[emoji1] . Definitely away from Samsung!
No idea really. Want to go back to stock so won't be a Samsung. The OP3 is too big, 5.1 is ideal. Pixel is too expensive. There's nothing, atm.
xiaomi for me. maybe the successor to the mi5/mi5s. preferrably one with strong aosp support so I can test out miui and aosp roms
OP3. AOSP is a must, and this time I want to buy atleast 5.5" screen. OP3 has better design, battery, performance, and software.
Probably S8 or Note 8. I really like new Grace UX and the design of their hardware.
Most likely S8 but will see what is available when I can extend my phone contract again.
Haven't really had a reason yet to leave the Galaxy S line (S2, S4, S6). But if I switch it most likely will be because of the support for custom roms.
I'm thinking 1+3 but not really sure. Something with a high XDA forum threads count and stable AOSP roms.
note8

I will go for note 8 if they releas..
Before my s6e I had a HTC m7 with AOSP and that was really good, now with my s6e I just think that much power (cpu power) is a little useless (at least for me). I'm looking for a better battery phone and not that expensive like s7e or note series. So probably getting a xiaomi redmi 4 prime.

Might go for S7 Edge after the release of S8 haha. Thought of Redmi 4 prime too, but camera department on Xiaomi is sad Was thinking of Mi Note 2, but for 50€ more, I can get S7 Edge ...
I really love my S6 but the battery is really bad for me and I'm always struggling getting through the day. So, I'm intensively checking my options, escpecially all those new Chinese phones like ZUK Z2 Pro, LeEco Le Pro 3 which provide quite some bang for the buck. But all those phones have one or more disadvantages like bad camera, no IR blaster (I actually use that a lot) that I can't accpet.
I spent less than 400€ getting my S6 new about 14 months ago and I don't want to spend more on the next phone I get. I think currently the Oneplus 3 is probably the best option considering the good XDA support and ok camera. But it is still not nice enough for me to spend the 399€ that it would cost (no used phones around here in Germany).
So, I think I have to live with my S6 a little longer. Currently searching the best ROM and kernel to get at least the best out of the battery that is possible.
Most likely something what is NOT from Samsung but I'll see...
I'm quite open to different brands since anyone can create a great device.
For now I'm thinking about either Pixel or even an iPhone (I can barely believe I said it )
if ever i leave my s6 and samsung,i want to own iphone again, maybe 6s plus or 7 if only have money,in most situation i always found that iphone has lesser factory defect than samsung, and the updates is awesome, very fluid and optimized o.s ,downside is very expensive, cant afford ?
Google Pixel 2 maybe !

OOOWHHH YES BABY !!!! sorry about that but yes i want that one to even the pixel i want to buy if i have money to buy it

Overall love

Yes, yes, it's possible to love a phone. Heck, you sleep next to it, don't you? Rate this thread to indicate your love for the Xiaomi Redmi 6, all things considered. A higher rating indicates that the Xiaomi Redmi 6 is an incredible phone that you enjoy tremendously. You love it.
Then, drop a comment if you have anything to add!
It's a good phone for your money.
My android journey started with HTC Desire (which broke just after warranty expired and broke my trust in well established brands forever), than 3 Huawei G300s, some Lenovo, Nubia, THL and Doogee. This is my first Xiaomi and I'm just amazed how solid it feels. The hardware and software feels way above its price. I have it just for a month but I'm already pretty close to saying I love it.
Ohh yes, I had an Galaxy S5 with RR before but wanted something a lil newer. I'm running miui 9 in no hurry to update to 10 it's robust & has great battery life. Oreo 8 is okay once I rooted it disable some Xiaomi system apps, I like fingerprint reader too! Camera is okay, did not like stock music player as it did not play mp4's so I got rocket player & it rocks! I found a way to get dark mode with themes. So I have it running the way I like!
Oh & you cant beat the price Of 125usd
Yeah, Xiaomi Redmi 6 is the best Xiaomi smartphone at the lowest price at the moment
Great performance for the price. Of the best your buck can get.
