Hard to find Vanilla android experiences, but this phone has it. Device specific features are neatly tucked away into their own app, even though it might have been nice to have a settings menu item to launch it.

Find it very good, I hate that it replaced the stock ambient display with the Moto display though. Moto's display is ugly imo, and there's no way of getting stock back. But other than that I have absolutely no qualms about the software on this phone, everything is hidden away in it's neat little app and most of it is easily disabled if you don't like it.

Agree with 2PiSqaured this phone is brilliant love it
Don't like OEM bloatware amazon stuff and voicemail stuff which I not find a way to completely delete even rooted (Froze it with Titanium however)
One of the best OEM skin.
Stock android with tweaks, updates come out quick.
Moto Gestures, my favorite feature. Simple and quick. Amazing

Virtually stock Android. Simple to use. Smooth operation. Android One version will get monthly updates I hear.
Android One X4 is basically stock android. It has the "slide up" app drawer similar to the pixel, but I'm not sure if it really is the pixel launcher or not.
There are a few moto softwares thrown into the mix, but they're not obtrusive, and most are helpful (Moto Display for automated blue light filter, and and FM radio app).

I should also add that activating on Project Fi was very simple & easy. It came with a new SIM, and transferred my number to the new SIM seamlessly, and almost instantly.

I never actually tested it, but I just did, and I can confirm that it does work. It requires headphones (it doesn't have a built in antenna), but it did pick up my local rock station and a few others. I work in a high school (large brick building), so the signal is a little weak, but so is *every* signal, so it should be fine out-and-about.
Could do without the Google stuff but hey....... luckily there's disable

Great software that is close to stock Android, which I like. The amount of Sony-bloatware that comes with it (which is luckily removeable) makes me deduct a point, though.
Just like most people here, I am addicted to pure Android roms. I haven't used an OEM rom in at least 7 years. I then decided to get the XZ1C and realized I didn't need AOSP at all, or even root for that matter. Everything looks great and works fast. I'm super happy to be able to get a phone, slap my SIM card in it, and use it without having to go through all the custom rom process.

It's pretty much stock Android 8.0 on the G6, and I love it. The circular clock widget is the only thing I've noticed as being different, but I find it to be a nice, fairly useful touch. You can't go wrong with pure android. Good job Motorola.

As for software, again, pretty much stock, at least on my Republic Wireless, 3GB RAM model. Moto mods are an awesome addition, Dolby audio is moderately useful and the FM radio at least works well (for however often you find yourself in need of a radio and can't get to a car. Which for me is almost never). Other than that, same GApps as usual, not a bloated phone. You can't go wrong with pure android. Good job Motorola.
I have not had the need to use a third party launcher (sorry, Nova). Also, the system itself is nearly bloat free. I do use a few of the Moto apps, though. It's responsive enough for me, so I don't have to tweak the animations via developer options.

The surface is in the usual HTC Sense, which is relatively close to native Android, so very usable.
It's a shame that there was an disimprovement in the navigation. You can choose between adjustable gestures or buttons. But then as a 3 button variant with nothing to be adjusted (exept hide)! Too bad, with the U12 + I was able to set 4 with free assignment, that was really pleasant.
The notification LED, which now probably only shines in white, could be a bit brighter - so it doesn't attract a lot of attention. As an improvement, however, it now flashes when a notification occurs during loading.
What I REALLY miss is HTC Mail! There is only Gmail with it. OK, I thought, I'll try Outlook .... Microsoft: are you serious? Only 1 month email synchronization? Impossible to change that or to look for elements on the server? What should you do with it? At HTC: Please !!!! Please bring mail back! You're welcome! At least as a download if not preinstalled!
Otherwise, there is little pre-installed. Often referred to as bloatware.
Unfortunately the transfer tool did not work, but that was probably due to my 3 years old U12 + installation, which could not be transferred to the U19e on a trial basis. Newly set up from U20 to U19e, it then ran without any problems. It's a shame: the HTC backup and restore has been discontinued, that might have worked as a workaround ...
All in all, as an old HTC user, I feel at home.
I confirm Groby's judgment, I confirm the native nature of the software which looks a lot like a lineageos, very well done, anyway. I am from a HTC m9, i am satisfied with this htc

As I was curious I decided to give Samsung another chance to see if they have gotten their **** together since the Touchwiz days. They haven't, they got even worse.
Bloatware to the heavens. Debloatlists exist, but do not remediate resulting broken UX (like dead context menus after removing Samsung bull**** clipboard services).
Dark patterns everywhere, starting with making the Galaxy Store the "root" of their app ecosystem. Can't be used (as in: view even available updates) without submitting a phone number (2FA) and private details via Samsung account, after that, they probably just collect your private info better.
OneUI itself is ****. Like the notification bar as font not following system UI font size and screen scaling settings, for god's sake.
Samsung apps are ****. The design of stock dialer, contacts and calculator are worse than Google's versions. Only the calendar is an improvement as far as I can tell.
Do not buy this garbage. Pick a Sony or iDevice over the infested hellhole that is the Samsung Android ecosystem.

Could not agree more. Coming from a Pixel, im going back to a Pixel...
changing screen width in developer options and switching launcher makes OneUI far more liveable.
