LOL FYI, I am not a developer, I am also a learner. This is my first time in bringup of TWRP and CM. It will take time for me to get it right. Please be a bit patient.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I'm not (yet) working on CM for the G4+, as I simply still can't obtain it. The + will be released june 9th, but only in the 16 GB version. I want the 32 GB version. As soon as I can get my hands on one and someone managed to build a twrp and root it, then I can dive in. (unless I learn how to do those steps before anybody beats me to it )

TWRP and root is already done bro. Here is the link for all you need : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4-plus/how-to/guide-newbie-resource-thread-t3386584 . I am working on CM along with another guy. I find very less time since I am working professional so 10 hours of my day goes in work, 8 hours for sleep and the rest I have to manage everything. I sure wish a day had 48 hours instead of 24 I will be slow to dev CM for G4 Plus.

When you're already working on cm, do you know if it's possible to change the available system memory on the devices? The UK and DE motomakers state the G4+ with 32 GB as devices with only 2 GB system memory. (344 euro for the 64 GB model is a bit to steep for me)

Anyone working on a Root?

I see theres but one root thread on this device and even that one is just for beta testing and not stable. Is there anyone working on getting this device rooted?
I haven't tested this so don't take my word on it, but a user on the Moto G4 Plus forums with a XT1622 (normal moto g4) used this guide and rooted their phone. This relies on the G4 Plus build on TWRP working on the G4 which I don't know if it does

I've done it according to the indicated link and it works.

[PETITION] Marshmallow Update per Moto G 2013

Hello everyone, I know that is something almost impossible but I have tried to launch a petition to motorola / lenovo to ensure that releases least marshmallow on the fantastic moto g 2013, all you have to do is a little sign at this link:
thanks in advance to all those who will participate.
p.s. sorry for my bad english
If u would flash a custom ROM u could enjoy the taste of nougat!!!
Moto did treat Falcon very well compared to how other OEMs behave.
Jelly Bean (4.3) - KitKat (4.4.2) - KitKat (4.4.4) - Lollipop (5.0.1) - Lollipop (5.1)
And there already is a Stock Motorola Marshmallow ROM available:
[ROM][FALCON][6.0][STOCK] Identity Crisis 6
Oh man..you're still stuck with petitions while Motorola has been eaten by Lenovo..
I understand the initial hesitation for unlocking bootloader and flashing a custom rom. It is assumed that custom roms will never be as stable as stock roms and it will keep rebooting, apps crashing..and what not. .
Listen man, moto g 2013 is history long back. If you want marshmallow, unlock bootloader first, unlocking the bootloader of motorola had been one of the easiest and it has great developers. There are plenty of marshmallow roms and after I write this post, I am going to download the updated Nougat rom by @srisurya95. I have been using it since 28 Sep and its smooth, stable, never had a single random reboot or any wild battery drain. Enter the world of custom roms and forget the official support. Here's the link to the rom.

IMO moto g 2103 is the only phone which got the best update from the manufacture till date
Enough update we got already.....
Well...
Sent from my Moto G using XDA Labs

People launch petitions for literally anything these days.

stock 7.0 is possible!

If the Moto G4 play running the same chipsets as the Moto e 2015,gets the official 7.0 update from Motorola then following could happen:-
Some generous developers out there will try to port the official stock ROM from the harpia to our surnia , hence making our device to get "identity crisis" like ROM which was seen some time ago for the devices like the original Moto g ported from Moto g2.
It will be awesome
No chance. It not got 6.0.1 update. Moto g 3 runs on same chipset as moto e 2015 4g. G3 got 6.0.1 but e2 not.

Even for now g3 isn't getting stock 7.0
The Moto G4 Play has a Snapdragon 400, and this phone is a 410. So no, it is not possible.
Edit: maybe I'm wrong. Must be a typo on the G4 Play XDA thread, it says 400, but specs elsewhere say 410.
If it does get N and someone finds the firmware, I can see what I can do with it. I ported a Moto G 2015 mm stock, but the camera doesn't work at all.

I doubt it has a 400. That's what the first gen Moto G had.
GSM arena has the g4 play listed with a 410

it's surely possible!

Motorola likes sticking a phone to quite a unique Android version no. And so I think they didn't update e2 4G to 6.0.1 plus that minimal update doesn't bring too much of changes!
Look guys this is seriously possible!
You might find it the desicions done by Motorola regarding the Android update programme impossible to believe but believe me; even if they update a single 410 chip based device then it's a must for sure that the our wonderful family of developers will surely try to port the best of Moto's software even to our ignored devices!
