HELP: Samsung Galaxy Tab A Battery Drained; Won't Charge or Boot - Samsung Galaxy Tab A series Questions & Answers

Hi! I left my tablet on 10% or less for some days and came back to it completely drained. I charged it and the screen lights up with the battery and lightning symbol, it blinks for a split second and shows the battery symbol with 0% in the middle, then it blacks out again for about 2 seconds and the process repeats.
How do I solve this (preferably without having to open it up)? I've tried pressing:
power + volume up + volume down + home = nothing
power + volume up + home = Android system recovery screen, choosing any of the options (or leaving it idly for some seconds) leads me back to the repeating charging symbols
power + volume up + home = Odin mode, leads back to charging after a few seconds

You have to be specific which model you have. Tab A has different models and sizes.
If it's SM-T350, then this is quick and easy fix for battery problem.

Battery + motherboard issue
So either you can remove the back and disconnect battery from motherboard, charge for 20-30 minutes and then reassemble to charge. Or you can trick it into charging by leaving it on reboot screen (power + vol up + home key if it has one) for 30-40 minutes. Just leave that screen up and walk away. After some time reboot it and you'll probably have 7% charge as that is what mine generally does. Then it will charge normally. The motherboard won't let it charge sometimes if battery completely discharges. These are the only 2 workarounds I've found.
Edit-forgot a different method which has worked. If you have a power bank, they generally will give more power that your traditional chargers, using this to begin the charging process works too.

[Q] Random reboot and no longer booting

Hi, so I've been doing a fair bit of reading, but I've not really found anything thats exactly like my issue.
So I got the Nexus 4 yesterday, today I've been using it for probably 3 hours, it was charged overnight last night to 100% and was still at about 65% when the phone randomly rebooted, no force close or anything. So it attempted to boot back up, showed the Google logo and then the nexus X, before going to a black screen.
From here I can't turn it back on, I've tried:
Power - up to 60 seconds
Power + Vol Up - up to 30 seconds
Power + Both Vol - up to 60 seconds
I then plugged it in to the wall (using the charger provided), there is no sign of life still, no battery charging screen, no flashing red led.
If I hold down the power button, while the phone is on charge, I do get the flashing red led.
Is this a case of leaving it to charge and assuming the battery is completely drained, or should I be contacting Google to start an RMA?
Should probably say, as I've only had it a day, no root, no custom rom, everything stock and on 4.2.2
Thanks.

Nexus 10 won't boot after charging

Hi guys,
My battery went completely dead, left it to charge over night, now wont boot at all. If its plugged into the charger and I hold the power button the full battery symbol (black and white) shows for about 2 seconds and then goes off for about the same time then reapers. Any ideas?
Device status:
- Stock rom
- boot loader unlocked
- non-rooted
I've tried :
- Hold power for 30 seconds to a minute
- Hold power + volume buttons for 30 seconds to a minute
- no response form my computer when its plugged in
- no response when trying to boot into fast boot
I am aware this has already been asked. I've tried the other threads but no luck
EDIT
I got mine to boot. I have literally no idea how, I just tried the power button again and it burst into life, although the battery was empty.
I think this could be due to not letting the battery die enough. I normally let my phone (HTC One) so completely flat every month or so but i've never done it for the Nexus 10.
The same problem please help
Serious bump. Ive tried all of these methods, but it just shows the charge icon when plugged in. This is the first time for me that it wouldnt just turn on after going into that sleep state. Charged over night.

I think this is the same issue that many (or a few) people are having. Mine, for example, will be at 100% charge. Then, sometime in the day (without using it) it will die. It will not power on. When I plug it into a charger, it will show the charge indicator on the screen, and I can get it to power on 50% of the time right away by holding down the power button for about 5-10 seconds.
When it boots up, the android tells me it is at 0% battery. If I leave it plugged in it will usually show 100% again after a short period of time, but until then, if i unplug it, the tablet powers right off.

Here is a pretty good thread to see the issue.

Here's a question for you:
Watch your battery life. At any point, does it begin NOT draining? Such as remaining at 60% for 2-3 hours during usage? If so, you may have a defective motherboard and require warranty replacement, as that was one of my symptoms.

[Q] nexus 7 completely dead?

Hi,
I have a nexus 7 2012 and it worked fine and runs CM 12. The other day I powered it off by pressing the power button then clicking the power off option in the power menu. When I turned it back on it didn't boot up and I ended up having to hold the power button for ages. Powered if off again the next day (only use it occasionally) and when I went to turn it back on it didn't boot again. This time though no matter how long I hold the button for or leave it on charge nothing happens.
I've tried everything from trying different charging cables, plugs, plugged it into laptop, pressing power + volume down and even pressing all 3 buttons. I've popped the back off and unplugged then plugged back in the battery. Nothing works there's no sign of life at all, no screen flickers no nothing I'm stumped. Think when I powered it off it was at 15% battery if that makes a difference?
Only conclusion I can come too is that the charging port is broke or the circuit. Sadly I don't have anything I can use to try and charge it using the four pin connector at the side to test it. Only thing I haven't tried is to "jump-start" the battery. Just take out battery and strip a usb cable and plug the power wires directly into the battery for half hour but not to sure whether to do that or not and wanna make sure I have exhausted all other options before trying that.
Any ideas?

Nexus 7 2012 problems

Hi all,
I'm struggling with getting my 2012 Nexus 7 to start and hope someone out there can help!
I think I may have let the battery become discharged, but anyway here are the symptoms:
Connected the power lead and the tablet initially showed the empty battery icon but then started to flash up the word Google but does not boot up. Left it connected for a couple of hours. Still no joy.
Did a bit of internet research in an attempt to reset the tablet via the button combinations.
With the power lead disconnected, holding on/off plus volume+ together eventually gives a blank screen and from there holding on/off plus vol- gives the Android figure with its belly open. Hitting vol+ scrolls thru the four options of start / power off / recovery mode / restart bootloader, however when I select 'recovery mode' and press the on/off button instead of showing the Android with a red triangle it simply goes back to flashing 'Google'.
From there, if I press and hold on/off and vol- for several seconds the screen gives a momentary blue flash and then the fours 'dancing blobs' appear, eventually to be replaced with the flashing 'Google' but still no boot up.
If I connect the power lead although I can get the initial Android figure, I cannot scoll for any of the options.
All of this sounds like a major fault, but funnily enough yesterday evening I left the tablet with a blank screen and disconnected only to find this morning that it had booted and had all my apps showing, all of which appeared to be working properly. so I connected the charge lead and it said I had 17% battery remaining however the battery charge graph showed a number of major gaps and also showed the wrong date (2 days behind). So I connected the power lead and left it for 10 mins to find that the charge state hadn't moved but also that the screen brightness was reduced as if it wasn't connected. So I unplugged and then re-plugged the power lead and it said it was optimising 1 of 2 apps then the screen brightness returned to full, any appearing to function ok.
So left if for around 30 mins at which point the charge had gone up to 21% and I decided to try switching it off. Bad move!! Instead of booting up it simply returned to the flashing 'Google'. Which is about where the story started.
I've had the back off and the battery connector hasn't shifted, but one thing I did notice is that there is a fourth key switch below the vol- switch but without a hole in the cover to actuate it when assembled. Is this part of the button-press combination to restore factory seetings with the back off ??
If anyone out there can make sense of what the tablet is doing, I'd love to hear from you!!
Mike

2012 N7 not charging/booting

Hi all. First post here in the hopes you can help me. So hi.
I left my 2017 N7 for about 3 months (it was working prior), and now it won't boot or power on.
After exhausting the internet I have tried:
Leaving on charge for 24 hours.
Charging for an hour, then quickly unplug, plug back in and attempt to power on.
Hold power button for 30 seconds/one minute.
Hold power and up/down for various times.
Jumpstart original battery.
Charge from the side contacts.
Replaced USB module.
Replace battery.
Just a black screen.
I was running a custom rom with no issues prior, but it did have a sleep when not charging setting.
Any suggestions? I'm out of ideas.
Thanks!
