Tmobile firmware on AT&T S8+ - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8+ Guides, News, & Discussion

So I took a chance and went ahead and flashed my ATT S8+ To Tmobile firmware G955USQU1AQEF with stock odin and I can confirm it's working 100% Wi-Fi calling, Volte, Video calling. Once i booted up it also registered my sim and proceeded to update to Tmobile firmware G955USQU1AQGA and I gotta say only bloat was tmobile app and battery life improved by atleast 40%

Do u have enhanced messaging?
Sent from my SM-G955U using XDA-Developers Legacy app

I haven't messaged anyone with tmobile on a galaxy yet but the options of enhanced messaging or on in the settings and by the way I flashed all files AP, BL, CP, CSC_OYN

Can confirm advanced messaging working. I have also noticed device running a lil warm on the right side or maybe is just my OCD for perfection can anyone on stock att confirm a lil warm on normal usage but completely cold while sleeping

I ran Tmobile firmware on my S7 edge the entire time I used it. It got updated faster and had a faster speed test.

I haven't flashed any other carrier firmware on this device yet (AT&T). I have the gear watch. if anyone has one can u confirm it works with non ATT firmware? That's the only thing that's kept me from trying anything else.

WiFi calling EE

Not sure if anyone else has noticed after the minor update you're able to make wifi calling. Under phone settings you can enable WiFi calling. Even though my phone isn't from EE directly I still have that option.
Anyone else noticed this?
This is interesting. What is your build number? I'm on EE firmware for the use of WiFi calling but already so far behind on OTAs

It's only if your network supports wifi calling which only EE does in the UK.
So if you stick your sim in your wife's phone should have the WiFi calling option.
Whats your CSC riz157? BTU or EVR?
I currently have a SM-G935F also from Carphone Warehouse with XEU CSC and I can confirm that I am now able to enable EE WiFi calling on my unlocked & unbranded handset.
It is also my understanding that select Vodafone customers are able to get WiFi calling, haven't tested this myself but check with Vodafone customer services to see if you can get it. Should work the same way!
O2 and Three (plus the many MVNOs) in the UK have not enabled WiFi calling as of yet or have their own versions (i.e. O2 TuGo Application).
Got a text from EE this morning that wifi calling now available on my unbranded handset
Not seeing the option on Voda even though I had it in my 6S+ a few week ago. So I guess my account is setup correctly etc.

Edit: on EE that is..
I'm on the PD1 firmware, which is meant to be exactly the same as pd3 and it's not working for me. Bare in mind im on a custom rom, but still.
It's someone with btu/evr able to upload their system\csc folder for me please?

My phone originally came with XEU and I flashed EVR specifically for WiFi calling. Flashed BTU today and after the setup and 200mb ota update the WiFi calling appears.
All you need to do is download the BTU firmware from sammobile and add all files to odin (excluding home_csc) and flash. Once flashed go through the phone setup and manually search for updates.
Flashing official firmware with odin does not trip knox.

Is it safe to update/flash unlocked firmware after unlock?

By a service on ebay.
Was it remote access by USB cable then Factory unlocked? If so then you safe to flash any unlocked 935U. If your not with Sprint or any major US carrier best one to flash is the XAA.

If you go to a U Rom the downside you might lose your band 30 and the carrier aggression. AT&T doesn't have a Unlocked rom. So you would have to use XAA 935U which is a universal American unlocked ROM. AT&T uses band 30 pentrate inside buildings where band 17, 2, 4 and 5 can't get. But that's the only downside being unlocked with AT&T.
But can I update once the Nougat firmware comes out?

If it's the 935U you will be automatically have an update. You probably get that sometime later this month or next month. Since they only do quarterly updates. I think carriers in the US should start seeing Nougat next week. I'm on a Tmobile rom for that reason and to have other features that the unlocked rom doesn't have on it.

Please advise - Wanna install G935U G935UUES4BQG1 on G935T G935TUVU4BQG5

Hi guys
I am using a T Mobile unlocked S7 edge with Ufone network which got OTA and upgraded to G935TUVU4BQG5 (see attached), this obviously has a lot of T Mobile bloatware. Also i have rooted it with SU.
I have read good things about G935U firmware, can i flash the latest firmware G935UUES4BQG1 on my existing one?
If yes, how should i go about this? Thanks in advance

I got them from updato.com
I put BQH7 and reset to factory using non-home CSC. When I did not use non-home CSC for any other version than BQH7, the system will freeze and generally performance wasn't good. When I went BACK to previous version of the T-mobile rom without reset, the whole thing started to crash badly so came back to BQH7.
That said, it did NOT fix my issue with streaming videos.
I am going to just flash 935U version.
935U BL/AP and I will use CP file from 935T BQH7, then non-home CSC from 935U and cross my fingers and hope for the best.

Not familiar with the term "OYN multi-csc", however I can and have flashed different carrier ODIN packages onto my US Unlocked S10+. I assume that means mine is apart of the multi-csc. Mine is "VZW/VZW/XAA", a factory unlocked s10+ bought from Samsung's website with a Verizon SIM in it.

If I'm currently on G975U1ES2BSIE, I assume I can't just flash that update.zip file because it says you must be coming from BSI4. Is it safe to ODIN flash the BSI4 version and then recovery flash the update.zip? Also, in a screenshot on the update.zip thread, it said the source version was G975USQS2BSI4, yet the firmware I have been using has always started with G975U1..., so can I even use the update.zip at all?

You would have to flash BSI4 U firmware via odin first then update zip after full boot. U1 beta has been delayed now untill who knows when. So basically we're stuck with bloat if we want the beta until further notice.

Thank you for reminding me about the bloat from U firmware.... ewww.... Will definitely hold out until more information about the U1 beta comes out, especially considering that someone will likely release the update.zip for it, rendering their limited beta unlimited.
I'm curious about this as well. Didn't the release the u1 beta yesterday? If so does anyone have the update.zip we could apply locally?

I'm on BSIC (thought that was the latest U1 version)
I was on BSIE and had to downgrade to BSIC in order to take the beta update. Even though I registered, wasn't sending it and as soon as I downgraded back to BSIC the beta update came through.

Hmm so I'm not able to grab it while on BSIC; any chance you have the update.zip file
I have the U1 (512 unlocked Snapdragon). I flashed the T-Mobile U image (downloaded using Frija, then flashed with Odin), and then saved the ota zip to an SD card and flashed that update via recovery. Haven't had any issues, yet. While I'm not a fan of the T-Mobile boot screen and default ringtone, the only bloat I've identified is the Name ID, T-Mobile, and Visual Voicemail apps, which all appear to be uninstallable. It also added the video call function to my dialer, which I'll probably never use but it's neat that it exists...
I say all that because you could just install the T-Mo firmware to your VZW phone and get away with a updating to the beta and uninstalling the bloatware, if you're ok with having the T-Mobile boot screen (ideally, you won't see it much anyways).
Just a thought.

Let me get home tonight and I'll extract it
The U1 version of the oneui 2.0 beta was released yesterday and apparently still being released for many users hopefully someone has the logics to make the update zip out of it and pass it along. Not everyone wants to go through completely wiping their phone and swapping unlocked firmware for a carrier one just to test the beta.

That's not how it works. You won't have tmobile bloat. The firmwares now are all inclusive so it will install bloat depending on your installed sim card. Example, I installed it on my AT&T S10+ and got AT&T bloat. If you install on your tmobile S10, you'll have tmobile bloat.

Assuming that's the case, why not just do the entire install and setup without a SIM, then plug the SIM in after it's complete?
I used that trick on the VZW Pixel and Pixel 2 and was able to avoid them force-locking the bootloader.

Between here and Reddit it's been asked several times if that works and there hasn't been a real answer yet. Yes though, that is the case. It's been that way since one of the major updates on the S8 firmware back when it was still a flagship. The bloat and carrier files it installs are carrier dependent. That's why the total download size of firmware went way up.

Im thinking thats why I wasn't ever able to join the beta. Downloading BSIC now and hopefully installing that will make it possible to officially join the U1 beta. After going back to U firmware i remember all the things that made me switch back to U1 last time lol.

Why are there separate S10+ firmware downloads for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon which have different Home_CSC partitions if the Samsung firmware works like you say? Shouldn't all the Samsung S10+ firmware be U1 (the firmware that comes installed on the carrier free version of the S10+) if the carrier bloat is installed via the inserted SIM?
