Install magisk on Phoenix Os (x86_64) - Phoenix OS News, Q&A & Development

Hi all,
I'm trying to install magisk on Phoenix Os. Without a recovery I tried to install it via the magisk manager but I can't see the boot partition to patch via the app... So I tried to patch the ramdisk manually but ./magiskboot and . /magisk (from x64) seems not to work... Don't know how to patch it... Does anyone have any idea how to do it?
Thanks.
Ps
No custom recovery are installable (and it is not useful because if Magisk manager can't detect boot partition also the zip can't); Phoenix Os is for common PC, in fact I have in triple boot with windows and ubuntu

Bump
P.S. custom recovery for Phoenix OS running off USB?

Bump

This would be very nice, but I am equally useless at making this sort of thing work.

I was able to install Magisk V12.0 on Android x86 7.1.2 rc2, using this tools to create a "fake" boot.img using kernel and ramdisk.img files:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2319018
But I had to make small modifications in the install scripts and magic_mask.sh to bypass some errors and correctly mount system to the magisk folder. Newer versions don't have magic_mask.sh anymore but a binary, so unless you modify the source and compile it yourself I think it won't work. Probably because v12.0 is somewhat old I can't install modules automatically using Magisk Manager tho...

So I've been getting lots of different questions about how to get this and that on android 7.0 nougat so to make it easier for everyone to find ill create this thread.
1. TWRP
Is twrp available for N? If so where can I find it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/p9/how-to/twrp-3-0-2-0-n-t3506947
2. ROOT
Oh cool now I have twrp. So how can I root?
Download phh r275 version and flash
Download and install Material phh apk: Release post
Now you should be good to go. If any issues feel free to ask here or in phh official thread.
3. BUSYBOX
User friendly zip flash this and the below steps isn't needed!
Flashable zip (1.25.1) : https://mega.nz/#!zlRm3S4B!9rAtfi0wI8oFu6xjJITgF0dRwV21UPsxvZQZzMo6VXk
This one is a bit tricky. If you run root. But
Download jrummy's busybox on Gplay.
Select installation folder to /system/xbin or if u don't want to touch system folder use /sbin if available. U can replace jrummy''s busybox with stericsson version if you like it better. But you must have installed jrummys version first if you're booted into android. Else stericsson busybox might have issues installing. Or u can use zips which contains busybox Google busybox flashable.
4. VIPER
More user friendly if using this zip the below steps should only need se Linux mode changer!
Flashable zip: https://mega.nz/#!f8wlzIrB!vVCAv-xqWB8lOrcQTgIyFL0WS7MFsE9iFb08E1YKV2Y
Is quite a mess to get working. You need se Linux mode set to permissive. Flash guitarheroes version of v4a (2.5.0.5) once flashed you need to replace the audio effects in /vendor/etc/audio_effects else you'll get I/O driver installation failed. Copy the .so files to /system/lib and /system/lib64 and set correct permission. If you have wrong busybox message. Try different versions of busybox but I use latest from stericsson and it works great. Hope u get it working.
Oh and don't forget to allow sd storage access or you'll get driver I/O error as well. And se Linux changed to permissive use se Linux mode changer for it. It works great with phh!
5. MAGISK
As it seems to be now. Magisk won't work due to loop issues on boot. And mount seems to have losetup fail 1 on mounting a .img while booted.
6. Xposed
Not yet available. Be patient rovo needs time we can wait for him
7. comes soon.
More stuff.

Updated busybox and v4a zip is found here https://mega.nz/#F!HlpzlaZL!wGNoJinVPZL0YiBcdbLlKA
V4a should be more easy installed shouldn't give you driver I/O error anymore.

Updated op with links.
V4a zip more user friendly.
Same goes for busybox. No more struggle

Phoenix OS [2.6.3] x86_64 Xposed Framework v89 SDK25 by youling257

XPOSED FRAMEWORK INSTALLATION ON PHOENIX OS
Hello guys ,
After A long time ,Sir @youling257 released latest x86_64 Xposed Frameworks v89 for SDK25
It booted far eaisly with xposed frameworks being active.
Instructions:-
Similar to those of RemixOS ,
1.Download official xposed-v88 sdk25 x86 zip from
Framework http://dl-xda.xposed.info/framework/sdk25/x86/xposed-v88.1-sdk25-x86.zip
For x86_64
Framework https://github.com/youling257/XposedTools/releases
<------------+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++------------->
Installer
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
No need for x86_64
<------------+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++------------->
2.Decompress it and copy the system folder and flash-script.sh (located at /META-INF/com/google/android/) from extracted folder .put them in a seperate folder inside /system partition or in root of hdd partition where is your PhoenixOS folder resides.
For x86_64 ,just decompress zip in Xposed folder and put folder in /system/*(here)
3.Boot Grub and select debug option if you have otherwise.hover over normal boot and press e to edit the boot option
Add
Code:
DEBUG=1
at the end of kernel args.
before the last line for initrd (not in this line).
And boot it with F10
4.Now ,in debug Mir-shell.Go to /mnt/* if you placed it in root parttion of your PhoenixOS folder from Windows 10 or in /system/*/ folder if you placed it there.
Code:
cd /mnt/xposed/ //for me * is xposed
Or
cd /system/xposed/
* is the folder where you copied flash-script.sh and system folder.
Now run
Code:
sh flash-script.sh
For x86_64
Code:
sh script
It should flash latest xposed framework .Ignore failing to set selinux file contexts for files.
Now simply reboot .

Hi!
I've installed version 1.5.0 of Phoenix OS 32bit (not UEFI). How do I install Xposed?

I've tried to install Xposed Framework by using the XposedInstaller.apk on Phoenix OS. But after installation and reboot, my Phoenix OS was failed to boot and stuck at logo.
(p/s) Do you know how to disable the "Change Keyboard" window popup when pressing the "Ctrl+Shift" key combination? I try to using Xposed for this reason.
Please help!
Need your expertise

Thread Updated .
unable to install xposed on phoenix os 64 bit missing script file?
hi i followed your instructions to get xposed installed on a 64bit phoenix os, but the zip file [xposed framework by youling257] that u gave for the 64bit does not have a "script" file inside it,so can u be a bit more clear as to how you managed to install the xposed framework. cos going through your instructions u told to run the script file for the 64bit is that some custom script u wrote to install the framework if so can u please provide that for download as well.

You can use updater-script Instead ,however here it is ,put it beside system folder and set permission executable .
I tested this on Bliss x86 7.2 Stable, and it worked great.
I took the x86_64 zip and extracted it's contents into a folder named 'system'. I then put the 'system' folder and installer script into '/tmp'. I then opened terminal, elevated privileges with 'su', then executed the installer script.
Okay, I tried various methods mentioned here.
I have latest Phoenix OS, of course x86_64, sadly no more stable x86 anymore.
I have Framework downloaded from https://github.com/youling257/XposedTools/releases
Then extracted it, TWICE, one with folder and one with contents of inside folder. So I had 3 possible types of same thing (zip, folder, extracted from folder)
Now those 3 things, and also, with script.txt and a copy renamed top script.sh, 5 total were moved to /system,/mnt,/sdcard.
As you can see, I left no chance of lack of anything. Yet I got errors. (attached)
Then I tried with no apk, as mentioned no installer needed. I got various errors.
I then downloaded it, placed in priv-app with XposedInstaller.apk name, also installed it.
Then still I got errors. (Look at attachment)
I have also attached the script I am keep using. Is it for 32bit or what?
Please do help. This Xposed thing made me reinstall my 5 multiple OS booting system to REINSTALL.

Sounds like it should be working. Maybe check that the toggle at the top right of xposed installer is enabled and give it a reboot?
Yeah! it is working now
Thanks much for this. Running LineageOS 14.1 r2 x86_64. Used the files from the OP's github link, dropped the extracted files into my system folder with X-plore file manager, rebooted and was ready to go. Simple and easy, I appreciate it!!!
Seems to be running, installer says Xposed framework active, but I can not download and install any module installer reports permission issues, but LOS 14.1r2 us rooted (I'm using 32bit system)
Any help?

If you got issues about xposed, you can install Xposed Framework with Android PC Toolbox.

Has anyone tried magisk with the TB-8504x/f?

Did it work even with dm-verity?
I got it to work - installed magisk via twrp and was able to use su and run scripts at boot <3
I installed magisk and I can write files to /system, but when I reboot the device the files are removed from /system. What do I need to do so that files that are written to /boot or /system are persisted across reboot?
My main goal is to be able to update init.rc so that I can have the device power on when plugged into a charger

I use Magic 20.3 or 20.4 on my two tablets.
One tablet is under stock Android 8.1.0
and another is under LineAgeOS16 - Android 9 Pie.
Both, give su for applications and ADB, but don't have system root for system folder.

[SOLVED]9t - stuck in the bootloop with bad magisk module

[Android10 + MIUI 11]
1. Trying to add new module (extra power menu) and... kaboom - phone stuck at boot.
1a. I'm flashing orginal boot.img
2. No working^ TWRP for me - bootloop and/or data folder mounted in the read only mode or listed as complete mess. No chance for removing bad module.
3. ADB method for removing module - not working under Android 10 :/
4. The situation: no magisk, no root, no GPay
The question: is there anyway to prepare magisk boot image w/o modules loading?

Use TWRP, its File Manager.
Navigate to /data/adb/modules
Each installed module has its folder - recognize by name which folder corresponds to your errant module.
Put an empty file disable (for disabling) or remove (for removing) into that folder
Reboot but with the patched boot - on that next booting Magisk will find the file and disable or remove the given module
OtangeFox or certain unofficial TWRPs , or modules for TWRP also help to disable or remove Magidk modules by the same mechanism (leaving the file there for Magisk to find on next boot) - this way you can do it manually, not depending on additional tools and knowing how and why it actually works

Solved.
In the /data/adb/ was some folders with unreadable names. But only one included only 3 files, which is the number of my installed magisk modules. After removing them with TWRP file manager and sending patched magisk img phone booted succesfuly. Thank you!

Ok, glad you solved.
But if you have stock MIUI 11, then official TWRP (3.4.0)
https://dl.twrp.me/davinci/
or 3.4.0.2 by brigudav (I prefer since it supports backup/restore for practically all partitions):
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=83090455&postcount=1
should properly see all files and folders on Data and Internal memory.
Don't know for EEA weekly builds or if you flashed DFE (IMO, then specially shouldn't be a problem with unreadable names)

Magisk 22101 (22.+) not detected by Manager, but SU still working on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Samsung Note 4 SM-N910F TouchWiz,

- Target image: /dev/block/
- Device platform: armeabi-v7a
- Installing: 22.0 (22000)
! Unable to check signature
! Installation failed
this is the message inside of magisk manager when i try to install with recommended way. but i have root after flashing zip not showing anything else in the app not magisk hide not modules etc
ant solution?
I do not quite understand what you want, but I think I understand some of it. You want to install a new version of magic and can not do it from the magic app, it was properly understood. If it was I can help. Try using another file explorer if you need to patch for it, or download the zip file and install it from recovery.
i have tried all when flashing the latest magisk the manager doesnt recognize the version but i have root rights nor appears su hide modules etc in the manager
Im running a 6.0 Custom ROM and noticed Magisk isnt working well but does give me SU access. I you need to run an earler version of Magisk (16?) in order to run it smoothly.
