[Q] Do I need to unlock my bootloader to flash a new ROM? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've rooted and flashed ROMs on several phones but this is my first time on a Samsung device. When I did this in the Moto X Pure I had to unlock the bootloader before installing TWRP and flashing a ROM, but I'm not sure if I need to unlock my bootloader in this phone since I already flashed TWRP and rooted through ODIN.
Do I need to unlock the bootloader to flash a new ROM? (TWRP installed and phone is rooted)
The phone is a SM-G900F running stock 6.0.1 btw

No.

safestrap vs flashfire and locked bootloader?

Hi,
I am running on rooted stocked OC4. This was done following the instruction which uses Flashfire to flash ROM and then ODIN to flash bootloader.
I am now looking to flash custom ROM (T-Mobile ROM specifically). From what I can read, the suggestion is to use safestrap which get around the locked boot loader in order to flash ROM.
However, there has been no update for saftstrap on 5.0.
Flashfire was able to flash stock ROM. Does it mean it has ways to get around locked bootloader?
Thanks

installing custom recovery

so i have just rooted my samsung galaxy s4 sgh-i337 using kingroot. it is the at&t version of the phone and it is running android 5.0.1 so this means it has a locked bootloader right? If so how would i install a custom recovery on it, and a deodexed ROM. What will happen if i try to install a custom recovery on a device with a locked bootloader
It will fail, that's what's going to happen.
I think for the AT&T model you need safetrap recovery. It is a special recovery bașed on TWRP.

How do I turn my phone to stock state?

I have my international Pro 5 rooted, with the bootloader unlocked and a custom rom. Now it's starting to fail and I wanna return it to Amazon.
How do I lock the bootloader and flash stock recovery?
Thanks in advance.
Well, I finally managed to do it.
I had Flyme.
I simply flashed stock recovery (from faust93 repo: http://xep.8800.org/pro5/).
And then flashed Flyme with the locked bl to leave it as new.
how did u flash stock recovery, via TWRP or fastboot?
TWRP
OK nice!

How do I find the exact firmware for my phone?

My phone is MOTO X PLAY XT1562 2gb dual sim variant. For trying out custom rom i unlocked the bootloader, installed twerp and flashed the custom rom. But for some reasons I hated it and tried to revert back to the stock rom. So I downloaded a rom for my XT1562 and flashed it and locked my bootloader. The fastboot screen shows that the bootloader is locked with status code 2. But still unlocked bootloader warning appears. I just need to know the explanation of the Firmware naming so that i can find the exact firmware for my device and flash it properly. Or anyone please find me the stock rom for my device. I'll provide my phone's information if required.
