Debranding S8 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S8 Questions & Answers

Hi guys, I'm out of USA.
After many failed attempts still can not debrand my AT&T SM-G950U.
Through ODIN I upgraded successfully to latest G950USQS1AQF7_USC
But can not find any unlocked firmware (XAA) to my S8, only for S8+.
Any idea where to find it?
Thanks.

Not searching very hard then. Update.com and search firmwares for G950U1. You'll see the latest XAA listed.
Works great (Minus volte and wifi calling), I've been running it myself

Thanks joe3681 for you answer.
Firmware downloaded from sammobile (G950U1UEU1AQE3_G950U1OYM1AQE3_XAA)
But i got the following error when try to install it: FAIL! Model dismatch fail

Sounds like it's not correct fw then.

This is what I used and it worked perfect. I also always use the modded Odin and remove .md5 off the end of everything once I extract it all.

Ok!!
The modded odin works!!
Debranded!!
Thanks a lot joe!

Hi Guys, I'm in the same case as the OP, and I have always updated via Odin using Sammobile's firmware, which only includes the AP file. I already downloaded the modded Odin and firmware from joe's post, but it includes a lot more files.
Should I load all the files to Odin? or just flashing the AP file would be OK? Thank you very much in advance!

From what it looks they are having issues between the to bootloader's. Your answer may come in the 892 partcyborg root thread.

How To Unroot/Unbrick Galaxy S6! [All Variants]

I created a step-by-step guide video to unroot/unbrick the Galaxy S6!
Grab all the files and other needed information here: http://www.androidrootz.com/2015/05/how-to-unroot-galaxy-s6-and-s6-edge.html
I was instaled official XEF 6.0.1 on my rooted device S6 edge. But after pass on odin and after reboot on screen information some about drk , check drk. A found solution for that some file must flashing with odin and I was doing that. After instal and reboot phon was booting i working butt still is rooted. I cant check for official update a when i power on my phone in left court is message kernel is not Seandroid enforcing.
How to solve that problem and have unrooted phone?
HELPPPP i cant unroot s6 edge
So i bought a rooted(with odin) s6 edge from a guy. It is lollipop and i want to update it to marshmallow via ota. My settings show that the model is G925f. And baseband g925fxxu3coi9. But the phone info tells me it is g925p which is usa sprint and gives a different baseband g925pvpu3bol1 and download mode also shows g925p. G925f is international. Atleast i think so. I downloaded my country(pakistan's) 3 firmwares and 1 of uk too of g925f. I also downloaded sprint usa firmware. I have tried flashing all of these through odin. All give fails. I got three types of fails: serial com port error, NAND write start fail on my country and uk firmware and that device 3 binary 2 fail on sprint firmware.
Please help me what should i do? Should i get the motherboard replaced?

I have AT&T variant and could only find my latest firmware on galaxys6edgeupdate website.
Fantastic, sir! I had this baby rooted and the screen cracked. Boo!! But I followed these instructions and I'm back to stock. New phone, here we come! Thanks!
Guys please i need the stock boot img for 920v on nougat. I tried rooting it and in the process.. changed my boot img. Rooting was unsuccessful though. But i have annoying knox notifications now and lags here and there. I want to use odin to reflash the stock boot img. Im new here. Didnt really know where to post this

AT&T G950U (S8) stock firmware?

Does anyone have the AT&T variant ( or a link ) of the stock firmware for the G950U? Also.. could someone please explain how to go about flashing it over? I have a Verizon G950U.. my old Verizon S7 Edge I flashed to the AT&T firmware but it was much simpler... I used odin and just put in the 4 files ( AP, BL, CP, & CSC_ATT ) ... but after reading quite a few threads on here.... it appears to be a much more complicated process with the S8.

please check, odin saids md5 invalid
Rename every file, remove the .md5 off the end.
That's ALWAYS step 1.
2. Use modded Odin
I've flashed it many times with no problem so if you're getting any error it's user error.
Ok, so I flashed the June att firmware sucesfully but when I booted it up, the boot screen still show custom. Anyway to fix this to not show anything like stock att?
nevermind, once rebooted again, it disappeared
Hi. is there a guide that shows how to flash ATT firmware onto the unlocked S8? Thanks!

Can you pretty please link the latest Revision 2 AT&T G950U Firmware? I cannot seem to find the Revision 2 Dec 20th Updated Release Build. I am pretty sure the build number is G950USQU2BQK5 but I have access to all the other variants on this update just cannot find the damn ATT version. I keep getting errored out writing the G950U1 XAA firmware, the G950U on all other carriers I get errors on it as well. I tried using Odin Comsy, Odin 3.12.7, 3.12.3 patched 256 version, 3.12.7, and even using the Z3X Samsung Tool Pro to reflash the firmware. I got one to finally take using all 5 files on G950U TMB but now the baseband is unknown and I cannot see the IMEI either. Anyone have any suggestions, I would highly appreciate that....
Flash QK5. It's for all carriers and installs proper carrier files and settings depending on the SIM you have installed. Use Prince Comsy Odin.
QK5 on Updato.com: (Labeled VZW but installs as ATT) http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?record=0C70C888DEB811E7A5F9FA163EE8F90B

Help me identify the correct FW to flash/update to Pie 9.0

I have an Sprint Samsung S8. I want to update to Android Pie 9. Its currently on Android 8.0.0 - R16NW.G950USQU5CSA4. And I want to flash with Odin to any compatible Android Pie FW. I am personally not looking to unlock or anything. The confusing part is that when I research the FW version (G950USQU5CSA4) it comes as a Verizon FW. So I am not sure if is safe to flash any of the Pie FW available on sammobile for Sprint.
It is safe to flash for example to one like G950USQU5DSD3 that appears in Sammobile and is for Sprint?

For any newbie like me who ever had a look at this thread. This definitely work as said by @kpwnApps, I downloaded SM-G950U, build G950USQU5DSD3 (3.92GB) from Sammobile and flashed with Odin. Flashed AP, BL, CP, CSC (not CSC_HOME) on its respective place on Odin. 5m 32s later it was updated with no trouble.

Does flashing G988U sprint locked phone safe?

I have bought SM-G988U phone which is sprint locked. If i try to flash the phone with the unlocked U1 model would this unlock the phone or not?
Sorry For this but i'm still a beginner and don't know if this would fix my problem. If not, then what would you recommend please?
As far as I know it's safe....but as with anything involving modding your phone....be careful as one misstep could cost you.
Hey dude, I can confirm U1 works great on Sprint devices, currently using it and still getting access to the t-mobile 5g networks here in LA.

No, it will not Sprint device Network unlocked. Your device will still be Sprint locked. I do believe this model will actually fail if you flash in Odin. Sprint pretty much puts an MDM on their devices now preventing firmware flashing. If it does flash by chance, it will just remove Sprint's bloatware apps.

I have a Sprint S20 Ultra. I'm currently on Sprints latest firmware ATE6. I downloaded ATEC which is Junes security update with USC carrier. It is U firmware as well. I am trying to flash in Odin and I keep getting a fail. Any ideas if Sprint has now implemented something to prevent flashing of other carriers firmware? I never had issues with my S10+. This is the first time I am trying to flash firmware with my S20 Ultra. Help please

patched one
I used the patched 3.13.1 version. Yes it is safe, I'm running the Sprint version UI firmware. Originally tried with 3.14.1 and failed 3x's. Also tried the full International UI firmware unbranded with the 3.13.1 patched firmware and the phone would get stuck on the SAMSUNG logo. My phone is sim locked to Sprint though and that's why I think it wouldn't boot the full unlocked version. The Sprint branded version worked like a charm.
