Help with MaxxAudio Mod for Nexus 6P Marshmallow (6.0) Only! - Nexus 6P Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can someone help me on how to get the Waves MaxxAudio Idol 4S Port to work on the Nexus 6P?
As far as I know it only works for Marshmallow based roms
If possible to try on your own Nexus 6P and see then just tell me step by step and I will replicate it or give me any things I may have been doing wrong!

I used the ported Maxx Audio a while ago. Wasn't anything special. There are better options like Ainur with James DSP or ARISE with ICE Sound and Viper4Arise.

That's awesome do you remember how you were able to get it to work? I'm pretty sure there are other Mods out there better than it but it's the one I would like to use right now

I just made sure I didn't have a waves folder that would conflict with Maxx Audio, then I flashed the Maxx Audio zip in TWRP.

I used a file explorer to look for /system/etc/waves (delete if it's there), browser to download the MaxxAudio zip and TWRP custom recovery to install. Should have the MaxxAudio app with EQ and other settings after reboot.

Thanks for the help really appreciate. I tried that and it shows the MaxxAudio app but the equalizer presets are pretty much set at zero and no matter if I customize it and change it, it ends up going back to zero and plus it still doesn't work even if I move the toggles around.
I wanna thank you for all the help you gave me I actually got it to work doing this:
First I downloaded Android Commander so I can transfer the system room files (sys, vendor, bin etc..) using my computer
Then I used that to transfer the vendor file into the system file to pretty much overwrite the default vendor file
Last I renamed the default audio_effects.conf to "audio_effects.conf.bak" then restarted and now it works so thank you again really appreciate the help!

[Q] DSPManager on AOSPA?

Hi,
I tried to install DSPManager on AOSPA, I extracted it from the Cyanogenmod-Nightlies (APK and LIB) and placed it on my phone.
I also changed Permissions. Changing anything inside it doesn't do anything until I start a new Track, then it works until I start DSPManager (weird).
How to properly install DSPManager on ParanoidAndroid?

There is a way to get this working. I have DSP fully working on AOSPA (Paranoid Android), though I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post how I did it as the CM Developers may not want DSP to be ported to other roms..

Yeah, but no dynamic range compression on viper4android which makes DSP manager has more balance sounds. You can hear more subtle detail on a background sounds that others could not achieve without compressor.

There are some sound mods floating around the MXP thread that some have said work. Like Dolby Atmos is one, iv used it on other phones and it worked great, i recently tried it for this phone, it flashed fine, but it did not take affect for some reason. Maybe some others can chime in and share what they've tried.

I'm using Viper/Atmos/Beats/Huawei and it works great. If you've never used Viper audio before, there are a quite a few parameters that can be adjusted. I'd start with Atmos, then tweak Viper to your liking.

The link I provided is an installer of Viper and Atmos. The developer has been working on the installation method for the last month or so to be compatible with most devices. I, like you, had problems with Viper and Atmos on this phone until I came across that thread. I'd highly recommend trying.

Thanks for the respons.
The link you provided IS the the one I tried.
I downloaded the first one of the 3 in the op, which was 'Dolby Atmos' downloaded it, and flashed it. Am I missing something? Can you please tell me exactly what you dl and flashed from the op of that thread?
Thanks
Edit:
OK I figured out the problem. In the very beginning of that thread The op lists Viper Atmos , Beatz, and Beatz Huawai, with a link to each of those. So I clicked on the Viper Atmos which pointed to a thread that was simply Dolby Atmos, with no Viper , nothing else, just Dolby Atmos. That's all I needed imo bec in prior phones all I would need to do is flash Dolby Atmos, without anything else, and I personally don't like/ need Viper. The way Dolby Atmos had worked prior was good with me.
But as I said Simply flashing Dolby Atmos wasn't working on this for some reason, so as I scrolled down to the very bottom of the first post, I seen all the downloads, Viper Atmos light and dark, Viper Atmos with Beatz light and dark, etc etc etc. See I thought those first 3 the op had listed at the very top were the actual downloads to his thread.
So that's why it wasn't working. Sorry about that.
I guess to get system wide improvement of sound on this device, Viper must be included.
Again, sorry for the mix up

Use the one recommended to me in post 11.
I wiped caches, flashed that zip, wiped caches.
2 apps will install Dolby Atmos and Viper. I don't mess with Viper, I actually uninstalled it. I use the Dolby Atmos app, if you go in there you'll see you can adjust the sound to your liking. You'll see what I mean when you open the app.
It def improves Audio quality.
Like I said I don't mess with the Viper app but if you want Google it. What Dolby Atmos allows me to do is enough for me tho.

Hey
Yeah I personally have no interest In Viper4android, all I really need is the Dolby Atmos app. So after I flash the mod, I uninstall Viper, I had to make sure it would mess with the mod working but it doesn't so I just uninstall it.
And use the Dolby Atmos app and edit to your liking.
I can't say what is the best. Just play with it, and find what you think sounds the best.

i am no audiophile
couldn't find any difference though, then again i use the same earphones that came with the phone. Many say its bad.
i don't have any level to compare against, its all sounds same to me. i listen to music for time pass, i don't listen music for ''Music''.
and i had to restore from backup today. phone screen went black.. i was playing around with doze and flashing all these apps[Dolby ATMOS/Xposed/amplify]. so now i do not have any more enhanced music app.
Running the brazilean twrp "stock" (but its modified) from here, i simply installed the apk and let it do it's thing. This one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/software/app-material-viper4android-2-3-4-0u-t3190352
it keeps me prompting to install every time I reboot my phone, and I have already renamed the file you guys said.
I'm getting upset with this, I can't stand this sh*tty sound quality stock Motorola rom has and I can't make viper work in my phone

Working config for me with each step included (relevant or not, just in case)
Dirty flashed rom to remove traces of v4a (Using Venom)
Installed busybox and xposed
Flashed Metaspook's V4A-MK latest and kernel (Elite)
Booted and gave V4A-MK superuser permissions
Installed driver through V4A-MK
Immediately (soft) rebooted
TO MAKE IRS FILES WORK YOU MUST GO TO SETTINGS>APPS>V4A-MK AND GIVE IT STORAGE PERMISSIONS
V4A was working for me after this, but I do not take responsibility if it does not work for you.
I recommend Dolby atmos 6.6 also made by @ahrion.
I believe the link is in the Original HTC10 audio thread as well.
Also ViperAudio. 4.8 and ViperAtmos. 4.8 by guitarededhero, and others that contributed and tested to make those go to mods for me.
Viper's I mentioned can be found on xda, software development forum. Feel free to link below.

Anyone here uses external USB DAC with their V4A?
I haven't tried a USB dad but I want to. On that note the hdmi output works perfectly. All our TV's have built in days and also sounbars and recievers. Why there is no stand alone dads that I can find with hdmi input I am really not sure. Dies hdmi have better audio than USB I do not know either but sounds damn fine to me. If you just want to had a separate headphone dac/amp then I think any with an xmos processor will work. Also the soundblaster E5 sounds pretty good and should connect.

were you getting force closes, freezes etc? i think it is either due to busybox or init.d support, the v4amk thread has links to flashable zips for both and after flashing them both it stopped those problems, not sure exactly what it was though.

No. If you want it built into the WETA ROM, then just install it. If you want to try an older version of V4A, then I'd recommend 2.5.0.5. With V4A, you also have to take a few steps to ensure you're permissive (at least in my case) and you do a few other things.

Yes. Go to system/vendor/etc (Im pretty sure) &: delete audio effects file. Think thats where your struggle lies.
On the other hand, WETA is a pretty solid rom. I was using it for awhile.

Man....so difficult Just either use WETA ROM, or just flash the arise audio Deuteronomy 2 zip and presto done-zo. Has worked perfectly on every single ROM I've used it on and sound is phenomenal.
