Cool feature. - Samsung Galaxy S8+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Just found out this feature. When you activate it and when you press the Close All button that app will still run on background and it won't be removed.

[Q] How to take a screenshot on DL30?

I was on DL09 OTA and then I installed DL30
so now I'm froyo.
I was looking at gallery and noticed that there's a picture of screenshot.
I don't have any app for screenshot.
I don't know when it was taken or how it was taken.
How to take a screenshot without app??
Thanks.
Press the Power button and the "Return" soft key at the same time.
You will hear the camera shutter sound and a notification will tell you that a screen shot has been taken.
The pics are in the "ScreenCapture" directory on your sd card
ohhh!! Thank you !! =]
I tried that method but it didn't work.
If you're looking for an app, I recommend ShootMe.

Depends on the rom, and if the service was removed. I removed it because its unreliable.
Then its not in EB01.

Sure it is.
Check with Root Explorer.
For those having problems, as mentioned before, if you have a custom rom, it may have been removed. However, the reason I couldn't get it to work is apparently I am bad at the timing of hitting both buttons at the same time.
Solution:
Put your finger on the "back" button.
Press and release the "power" button."
At this point, you should hear a sound or see a notification that the screenshot has been taken.
Remove your finger from the back button.
Enjoy the screenshot!
There it is, in painfully drawn out detail.
The problem is, in certain apps, holding down the back button ends them

This may be true, but for those who are looking to see if their current rom supports it can try this on the homescreen to find out. If it does, then they can practice to get the timing down.

That's why I'll just stick with ShootMe
The app is helpful in that it doesn't require root. It sucks in that you have to long press the back button. Unless you're on the home screen, you lose what you wanted the picture of.
Needs to be remapped to the menu button. That doesn't trigger until release.

I tried the screen cast but it didn't rotate the video to match the screen orientation. That led to a squished video...

Why double tap or any number of taps??
If you tap on your screens, you may have a chance of mistakenly opening an app!
This following solution is more practical:
"Swipe home button" in Play store. An easy and practical way to get to home screen, works well.

How's battery usage? Is it significant?
Also, I'm using the version you posted but it's not working when the screen is off. I'm sure I deactivated all app-killing process. I don't think it's this.

Multi-Window

I cannot seem to figure out how to use this nice Nougat feature. Anyone used it on this phone yet? I'm on Verizon, if it makes a difference.

You're both awesome, thanks so much! I read online that Verizon removed the feature so when I couldn't find it, I freaked out for a minute.

disable Bixby but still use button

Is there a way to use bk disabler and disable Bixby completely while still retaining the use of the button? Whenever I disabled Bixby with bk the button stopped writing all together.
Yes, you can edit a file to write a specific function to the button. The possibilities are rather limited though.
What would you like to do with the button?

Just make it where the camera pops up with the button. Which file do I need to edit? Is this a thing you need to have root for?

Why would I want that? That's kinda useless when we have a toggle tile for that.
Both not possible AFAIK. I think it's limited to GA and the other hardware buttons... I'll search for the thread and post it here in a few minutes...
Edit: one option https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/themes/button-mapper-beta-testing-t3646743

Much appreciated, installing now.

What is this screen that keeps appearing and how do I disable it?

I see it sometimes when I pull my phone out of my pocket. I have no idea which combination of buttons/screen taps/ or whatever I'm doing to make it appear.
It's an LG memo app that came with the phone. If you double tap volume-up, it starts, bypassing the lock screen. I'm pretty sure you can change this in settings.
BTW, if you double tap volume-down, the camera app starts, bypassing the lock screen. THIS is very useful!

Thanks!
You can disable the memo app if it bothers you or you have no need for it.

That is the built-in screen capture. You may have been accidentally pressing the screen capture key. I can't remember anymore which one is the default, because I have re-assigned it somewhere else. You have the option to save it as image in Gallery app or the Quick Memo app.
