Porting Android to HP iPAQ 310 Series Travel Companion

Hello everyone,
I am interested in a port of Android for the HP iPAQ 310 Series Travel Companion. It seems like a fairly capable piece of hardware, but HP dropped the product and hampered by some buggy software issues. It normally runs Windows CE 5.0 with a custom shell. I am trying to find out if it is feasible, any interest, and if there are any previous Linux ports that might make a Android port feasible. This is what I have found out so far:
Here are the product features from HP:
Processor Titan 600 MHz ARM11 Dual-Core Processor
Display 4.3" WVGA 800x480 TFT with touch screen, antiglare, landscape oriented, 16bit RGB depth
Memory Up to 2.0 GB flash ROM for persistent storage, depending on model 128 MB SDRAM for running applications
External Power AC Input: 100~240 Vac, 50/60 Hz, AC Input current: 0.2 A ac max Output Voltage: 5Vdc (typical)
SD Slot Supports SD memory
Antenna Internal Bluetooth antenna
Audio Integrated microphone, speaker, and one 3.5–mm stereo headset jack, 5–band equalizer and 3D sound adjustment
Battery 1,700 mAh Li-ion removable/rechargeable battery
Bluetooth Bluetooth 2.0 with Enhanced Data Rate, typical 10 meter range (approximately 33 feet)–High-speed, low-power, shortrange wireless communication with other Bluetooth devices
GPS Receiver SiRF embedded GPS receiver with InstantFix(TM) time to first fix acceleration
GPS Antenna Internal patch antenna
Physical specifications
Width US: 4.3 in
Metric: 110.2 mm
Height US: 3.4 in
Metric: 86.8 mm
Depth US: 0.7 in
Metric: 18.2 mm
Weight US: 6.6 oz
Metric: 187 g
The screen is beautiful on the thing, the hardware seems to have potential, although it does lack Wifi and WWAN. An SD Wifi card can always be added or it could be tethered via Bluetooth for network access. But never the less, I think it would be a wonderful Android device, especially if there were some way of caching Google Map data on SD or in the 2GB of built-in SLC memory.
I tried to dig up what I can on the internals. I have not been able to find a Linux port specifically to the Centrality Titan processor. Centrality was purchased by Sirf. Since it is ARM11 based, I imagine it shouldn't be too difficult to get Linux up and running.
The GPS receiver is the SE4110L.
I/O is handled by the Wolfson Microelectronics WM9712:
Voice processing is handled by the Fortemedia FM1182.
Bluetooth is handled by the Cambridge Silicon Radio BlueCore 4.
What do you guys think? Would this be feasible to pull off? Are there any other Android based devices that have similar hardware that make make this possible?
Still no updates?
I am going to try Andromnia Port for Samsung Omnia on this device. Just for start.
Try something with a WVGA resolution. Only other 4.3 inch screen device is the hd2.... Never heard of this, is it old?

It is about 2 years old, great device but so stupidly abandoned by HP (along with entire iPaq brand)...
Great 800x480 screen, 600Mhz CPU with both GPU and GPS. Perfect ground for Android!
bump
I own 2 of these lol. I also abandoned it when i started buying android phones. I am interested in this as well.
Hello everyone,
I am glad to see there is some interest in an Android port to this device. I wasn't sure I would receive any replies at first. Now that I see a few of us would like a port lets see what we need to do to accomplish this. I will investigate a few venues for us this afternoon. It is damn shame to let a capable hardware device like this fall by the wayside. It really seemed to have great potential.
I would imagine their are two routes to take. One would be to natively boot Android on the device. This would require the most work and I do not know if all of the hardware would be supported.
The other option would be to go the route of booting Android from a Windows CE based boot loader, similar to other Windows Mobile to Android ports. I think this would probably be the easier route to take.
Does anyone know of any other Windows Mobile or native Android devices with similar components?

As far as I know, Centrality (SIRF) Titan is used in only one type of device - out poor Travel Companion.
Though, I could be compatible with some other CPUs. I'll try to find out.
Hi guys, I've got one of these devices, for some time now,
I've mannaged to hack it, by changing registry settings in
HKLM\INIT and put explorer as an extra launch.
I did find something here:
http://www.smartqmid.com/phpBB3/viewforum.php?f=12
There is simmilar device running linux
and they trying android to boot from SD card:
http://www.jiongtang.com/blog/html/smartq5/boot-the-smartq-5-from-sd-card.html
You have to partition SD card, like here:
http://www.jiongtang.com/blog/html/...-install-software-on-sd-card-for-smartq5.html
There is more info there.
So any luck with running Android on iPAQ?

I think, you have to install Linux first and then load Android.
Go here and start reading:
handhelds.org/handhelds-faq/handhelds-faq.html
just add www at the front, someone stuffed something up and
I cannot post url's
I have already started, very interesting article, scroll down and get
PDF file.
Hey guys,
has anybody, by any chance, got the data sheets for this Titan processor,
some owners managed to brick the devices beyond repairs, I think it was due to very low temperature last winter, and the NAND, and boot loader were erased.
Someone is trying to develop some dumper, which would allow to dump the bootloader from working unit and then load it back by JTAG, and then all the rest by normal way from SD card, but he needs these Data Sheets.
HP is not interested in helping, they want money.
One of the rom cooking Gurus has developed simple tool to convert DiskRW's
image dump to the working boot files, which are TINYNK.bin, CHAIN.bin and NK.bin, I have managed to add some .dll files from MioPocket to NK.bin, I think
something about 20 files including all WiFi dlls.
There is big potential here.
hey nice people,
I have managed to install and run DOS on my 312 model,
there is only small problem, the very small keyboard, which pops up
as a part of the DOS screen. We can use PC's keyboard or maybe some
USB one.
There is no far to install Linux and Android, just have to find one.
Sorry, didn't put any links and names:
I've installed PcketDOS_1123 from here:
http://www.pocketdos.com/download.htm
The OEM version is not free, the other one is.
Look at this:
http://dev.openaos.org/browser/trun...-4.1.2_glibc-2.5_linux-2.6.18.ptxconfig?rev=6
interesting thread. Anyone still tinkering with their 310's?
yeah another bump
I'm an interested 310 owner

Connecting Moverio BT-200 to Windows 8 directly with Miracast

Hi all,
Did anyone succeed already to make the Moverio BT-200 be monitor for a Windows 8 PC using Miracast?
This is what I tried already. Apologies for not adding the weblinks, but the forum rules won't allow.
1) The problem is that the BT-200 has a qHD resolution of 960 x 540 which is not supported by Windows 8. Therefore, I set the DownScaling bit to 1 in the registry. (Start Regedit, find all occurrences of Display1_DownScalingSupported and set the value(s) to 1).
2) I then started Miracast on Windows 8: go to right bottom corner, in the menu select "Devices" / select "Project" / click the dimmed "Add a wireless display".
3) On the BT-200 start a "Moverio mirror" session. It takes some synchronization effort to get the two devices see each other and get connected (have some patience while trying).
In the end I got the two connected, but I only get a black screen on the BT-200. When I try to configure the modes (right click on the desktop / choose "Screen Resolution / click "Advanced settings" / "Adapter" tab / "List all modes" button), the only mode shown is 1280 by 720 at 60 Hz.
Any way how I can fool the modes into a 960 x 540 configuration? Even better: how can I set up the Miracast connection as primary screen at startup?
Oh, and yes, I do have an Epson Wireless Mirroring Adapter, but it's not showing me the proper graphics either. for that reason I tried making the direct Miracast connection built-in into Windows 8.
Any pointer greatly appreciated.
Kind regards.
Hi,
I don't have any of these devices yet. But I am considering purchasing them. Just for screencasting what the user is seeing. I understand that it probably cant show the "augmented view". But, does the mirroring adapter sink function work ? Can I atleast see whatever is being cast to the user on a big screen using this adapter ?
Thanks.

Hi aaaku,
Yes, the mirroring adapter that is sold with the BT-200 works pretty well, but it's a clumsy device that very much limits the useability of the BT-200. While the BT-200 is battery operated, the Wireless Mirroring Adapter needs an adapter. Connecting it to a power bank works, but it uses quite some energy. Moreover the double interface (device to Mirroring Adapter, and then the Miracast connection between the Adapter and the BT-200) takes quite some time to set up properly. If you lose connection on the go, it's a guessing work where you lost the image or where a cable got disconnected. All-in-all it's not that smooth as you would like it (for me it turned out a showstopper even), and that's the reason why I wanted to Miracast from a Raspberry Pi directly to the BT-200.
As stated higher another issue is the not-quite-standard 960 x 540 resolution of the BT-200. Yes, it's possible to connect a Windows PC to the Wireless Mirroring Adapter, and then display the image on the BT-200. The BT-200 will even show a very clear image even. Since 960 x 540 is not recognized by Windows (or Linux, tried that too) it will display at a higher resolution, and the Mirroring Adapter will do the 960 x 540 translation. Read: some resolution is lost. It e.g. makes selecting menus and doing configurations under Windows 8 rather difficult as it's pretty hard to read the menus. For image viewing it works well, though. The image is bright and clear, and the display does what it promises.

Screen doesn't work. Need help.

Two months ago my phone's screen stopped working. I sent it to repair and said that would cost 140$....and that's way more expensive than buying a new Zenfone 5.
So i need your help for a little something i have in mind.
I want to use Vysor in order to mirror Zenfone 5 screen to my PC, but first i have to enable Developer options and than USB debugging.
So all i need is a couple of screenshots:
- A screenshot that show how to open Settings from the notifications
- A screenshot that show the position where i can activate the developer options
- A screenshot that show the position of usb debugging

Vysor is lighter.
Doesn't really matter, I still have to enable usb debugging for that to work.

Nokia 6.1- Adaptive Storage and ADB

Ok, so I'm trying to get my nokia 6.1 plus that I just got (and am happy with) to run adaptive storage.
I just read about android one phones running File Based Encryption and this screwing around with that, so my question is slightly more broad, but:
Since the 6.1 plus is a new international phone, it will get Pie, right? Since the android one site says 9.0 and up it's fine, but there's some delays on it.
Second, is the FBE thing the reason why, after installing the drivers, setting the phone to debug mode and FTP for the USB Cable, the ADB on my computer still won't detect it? The computer's still reading the phone as a disc but also a separate "entity" with the phone's name and there I can access the phone's storage?
My first concern was for the Adaptive storage option, but if it will actually be avaliable on the actual device without needing to ADB it?
Or is it worth it to get the OEM unlock and just root the thing with x6 or something? I honestly just want the adaptive storage option, and I can live without it for now, but eventually would like it.
Sorry for the series of questions, just trying to make sense of the situation.

DZ09 with SC6531 chip

I think I am the only fortunate one to have this chip on my DZ09 watch.
My discovery so far about this watch. When I plug it in, turned on, there will be 3 options - pc connecting, udisk and charging. Well messing with menus there is a 4th option now usb log. When I click pc connecting there was a pop up that said it needs to install serial scsi drivers. And then finally I see ports in device manager. they are
SPRD SMCC AT interface1 com4
SPRD SMCC AT interface2 com7
SPRD DIAG com3
Now I tried flash tools I have on my laptop and although the com ports come up as options, there are always error messages.
This is what I see on *#3646633#
software platform version - mocor_12c
HW version - sc6531_bar
chip type - sc6531
actually there is a lot of list option on this code. I see
IQ mode
Para set
App set
Like over 10 option list and when you click those options theres a lot of sub menus too.
On those sub menus I see MTK, nokia and others as option. This watch is rooted already I believe I can change the IMEI no problem. it's on one of the menus.
I want to see if I can access the wifi or gps function if it has it and also add video capability and voice commands/recognition.
watch is already rooted. What I want is to just enable the functions that might have been turned off. And I don't even know how to back up this thing. Ugh.
Searching endlessly, I found one that has same specs as my watch, this one:
https://fileflash25.blogspot.com/2018/07/5star-a103-flash-file-sc6531-without.html
Reading the instructions, I found out you have to take out battery on this while flashing it. Hadn't tried it myself coz I don't want to brick it.
Finally there's a watch that has same chip as my watch this one:
https://m.lightake.com/p/Kenxinda-S....0-0.3MP-Camera-Black-US-Plug-_MU2005375.html
Actually that brand is the one that always pops up on my google search. I want to flash that firmware on my watch but well I don't even know what to use or to do with it.
It actually has a fancier model:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?reload=9&v=Rw19enRT4os
LOL. Anyway if anyone is an expert on spreadtrum. You are most welcome for any info you can share. PLEASE.
Additional info. Well the ua profile in .xml is dead. LOL. oh and it runs dorado browser. This is like a jurassic system huh? And yet I can't find anything to mess with it.
oh and this is where I bought it:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-lis...?ie=UTF8&condition=all&qid=1567637349&sr=8-10
tocosy is the seller. They always up their price after I bought it! Wow it's $2.99 more.
After I jazz my watch up I will make it my phone to use everyday. Like put a sim card on it..
Okay I am messing with my phone again. And this one if I click reset to factory it is asking for a password. That sucks. Then for some reason, when I click fmanager and most icons it has io error.
So I went back to those sub menus I mess with and put it back to old setting. Which is mostly on/off or open/close. Icons run as usual but there is no audio. I put the profile setting to normal and audio is back. And then... I found this txt document - RUNNING_NV_INFO. It just pop up today, I know from the date. What is this?

I was gonna buy this even though it's for kids -
https://www.amazon.com/Goglor-Smart...Q44J880MM92&psc=1&refRID=40G4DXRCBQ44J880MM92
I actually tried to return my watch and the seller basically gave it to me for free. LOL. he refund me and told me to keep the watch. Chinese sellers are the best.
So I changed my mind and since I got a free watch, I want to mod it like this kids watch with all the features I want. All I need is a developer here to take notice, I can eternally wait for a genius to turn my free watch into this kids watch with all the features. I honestly am tempted to ask the seller what software they use to program these watches. Ugh.
I too bought a cheap chinese smartwatch, yesterday it got delivered. The model is Y1S (Y1 is one without the camera), I thought I would get mediatek based but got the same specs as (SC6531DA). Mediatek based ones are quite easy to mod like the watch face, etc. I'm unable to find any resources for this chipset.. -_-
