Guy's how do i wipe cache partition! - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

According to OP this is the procedure, but when i press power and volume down I'm greeted with a qwerty keyboard at the bottom of the screen and the words forget password ? What the hell is this, that's what happens when i go to standard recovery mode, there is no wipe partition it just goes to the keyboard? Am i missing something here? This is the procedure I've with all past phones.
This is OP procedure...
First: we’d like to know if clearing the cache from recovery could be helpful?
1. Turn the phone off.
2. Hold Power and Volume Down
3. English (or pick any language that you want)
4. Wipe data & cache
5. Wipe cache
6. Yes
7. Reboot

No one knows?

Go to fastboot mode, then fastboot format cache

It doesn't exist, when i go to fastboot i get this menu, and then when i go to recovery I get a virtual keyboard on screen, see images, there is no format cache option.

It wants your password or pin. For me it showed the pattern screen with "Forgot password?". I entered my usual pattern and got the menu as described.

[Q] Big huge problem.... NEED HELP!!

Sadly I cannot unlock my T-Mo MyTouch 3G phone..
I have forgotten a numeric passcode to get passed the lockscreen...
it doesn't request a Gmail login to reset password or anything like other android phones... i have the stock unrooted rom.... no custom recovery or anything...
the current stock recovery doesnt allow me to wipe data, cache, update.zip or anything.. it doesnt allow me to select any available commands which is really unusual...
ive tried to flash another recovery via fastboot but unfortunately i have S-ON... i don't know what else to do... i've tried rooting the phone and i've succeeded but theres no point since the lockscreen doesnt allow me to access superuser... this phone has no hardware problems every button works
I FEEL LIKE THERES NO OTHER OPTION If there's a way to have this phone functioning I'd be extremely surprised. Please help!!!
Edit* - in fastboot mode it shows an option to reset phone when pressing the send (call) button... i've tried it twice but it only restarts my phone back to the lockscreen
Home+back+power. (If I remember correctly)
can you clarify on what that's suppose to do??
Clear user data
That only gets you to fastboot mode...
Please give Fastboot info in order to help you by giving you the right RUU for you to install it but it will unroot the phone, will lock the hboot and it will install the htc recovery but this will solve your problem.
Download Fastbootcommander and post here the info that will give you.
If you do what I said then follow the instructions it gives you (I think it says press trackball to erase and power to turn of) then it wipes data and you can set it up again.
It sais you that the recovery has not this option! Please can you tell me the name of the recovery? Amon ra,Clockworkmod,Hero, what??
Here what he said my friend tvall: the current stock recovery doesnt allow me to wipe data, cache, update.zip or anything.. it doesnt allow me to select any available commands which is really unusual...
Step 1: power down completely
Step 2: hold home and end button
Step 3: wait until the warning triangle appears and let go of both buttons
Step 4: press both buttons again
Step 5: scroll down to factory reset
Step 6: once reset, go to reboot
use the trackball to select

[Q] Froze on 'wiping system'; now can't boot

Hello all. I tried to read as much as I could before posting this. Here is how my phone is:
- Rooted
- TWRP
- Custom ROM
Here is the problem:
I wanted to load a different ROM, so I tried to wipe system, cache, data and Dalvik cache. During the wipe process (wiping system), TWRP froze for about 5 minutes. I had no choice but to force the phone off. Now I can't boot the OS (expected), but I can't seem to get into recovery either. I can hold the volume button up and get to the download mode where I could restore the stock OS, but I have a lot of pictures that I want to keep. Is there any way for me to save my stuff from the internal SD?
Right now, my phone boots to the LG logo and just stays there.
You should have let the wipe finish. On early version of twrp it can take 15 minutes to complete.
Hold the power button for 10 seconds to turn it off. Then power and volume down into the lg logo, release them and then hold them both again. This should take you to a factory reset screen, say y especially to the prompts, 2 or 3 of them. And it will take you into twrp

tdevaughn,
Thank you.I did not think it would take that long, but yes, I have learned my lesson now. When I used the volume and power keys, it takes me to the 'factory hard reset screen'. It asks me if I want to permanently erase user data and reset settings. Is this the screen you expected to see? If I confirm that I want to do that, will it take me to recovery, or will it delete all of my stuff?

If you still have a recovery, it'll take you to the recovery.
Success! Thank you both so much!

[Q] pin incorrect after cache wipe

Posting for a friend here. Running the Verizon note 3 on what I assume is the most up to date stock software.
Basically he informed me that he wiped cache from recovery because his phone "was having issues" after he rebooted his home screen pin unlock is saying he entered the wrong pin. Is there any way short of a factory reset that will fix this. Thanks for your help

We'd need a bit more info but here goes.
If he's pure stock they can try going into download mode and doing a hard reset. Turn off phone and follow these steps.
1) Press and hold the Volume Up + Home + Power buttons at the same time. For about 5 to 8 seconds, the phone will reload.
2) Release all buttons as soon as you see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 logo.
3) In the Android system recovery mode, use the volume rocker to highlight wipe data/factory reset, and then press the Power button to select.
4) Select Yes — delete all user data
5) Next, select reboot system now.
He'll have to redo his apps and stuff all over again but he'll be into his phone.
If he is rooted and running a custom rom just reboot and hit safestrap recovery button on start up and reflash rom. You are assuming he on just stock software but we aren't 100% sure.

I stated that he was running stock. He is trying to find a way to do this without wiping data as he has information he doesn't have backed up that he doesn't want to loose
Thanks

I don't know what else he can do other than hard resetting the phone. Did he save it to his sd card or internal storage? If it's on his sd card he's fine. If it's on his internal storage I don't know what else to do. I don't think there's any software for that as it's his phone but bypassing the pin lock any other way might be considered phone piracy and I doubt the xda governing bodies will let that be posted here even if something existed. There was some software for the s3 that let you put your imei number back on your phone if you lost it flashing roms but xda had to not let it be posted here as it could have been used to activate a stolen phone. I don't know what else to do to help. He may have to bite the bullet on this one unless someone else knows something I don't.

Cache Clear Through Recovery

Does anyone else's Turbo take a relatively long time to clear the cache in recovery? I've done it a few times now and each time it has taken close to 10 minutes. Other phones I've tried usually finish the clear in a minute or so? Is anyone else seeing the same thing?
Mine always takes several minutes. I've never actually timed it, but I would guess 5 or 6 minutes?
Mine takes about 20min every time.
IMO I think that a DT thing across the board, at least with the XT1254. I have 7 other friends with the DT and they all experience the same thing( and so do I )
It is a painfully slow process on the DT.
My maxx even in cm recovery takes 10 minutes to clear
Me too I think it's related to the recovery both are unfinished versions of recovery
How is anyone clearing the cache? Going by the steps online, I can't even get to a point to clear the cache. When it says click up to select, it just goes up to the option above. Hitting power just boots the phone. Can i have TWRP yet? - XT1254

When you boot into recovery press and hold the volume up button and tap the power button once to activate the recovery command list
same here on maxx 7/ 10 min
Same here. Not really an issue tho
What it takes to clear the cache and the cell is in operation ... the difference is that everything is done from the recovery while the other cell .. makes the second stage when turn on the phone ... still need to wait a while.
sorry for English
has anyone tried to clear cache after using the mofo root tool? I tried to get into the recovery so I could clear cache, but am unable to do so...When I select recovery I just get the green android icon with the red icon on top. Any advice?

I'm having the same issue. I follow the instructions to get to recovery to a "T" and still get the little "dead" Andy with the red exclamation warning triangle.
This is, of course, after rooting with mofo root.
EDIT: This is what worked for me - power off phone > hold volume down and power until fastboot loads > use volume up/down to scroll to Recovery > press power to select > once dead andy screen appears, hold volume up and tap (do not hold) power > recovery should load.

Serious Issue With Unlocked Moto G4 Plus (2016 XT1642)

My phone is in a bootloop. I can't even access the recovery mode, and factory reset doesn't help. Please watch the following video to help you understand the situation

fastboot erase userdata
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot

See if this works.
You'll lost all your data but the phone should boot up.

When I do that, it keeps saying "waiting for device" - the computer doesn't recognize my phone, even though I installed the drivers. If I may have installed something incorrect, can you link me to the moto g4 plus drivers? What else should I try?
Try going into recovery from fastboot mode (bootloader) and you should see an Android laying down and the text "No command." Then hold down the power button and press volume up. Use the volume keys to scroll down to "Wipe data/factory reset" Then you should have three options, select "Userdata + personalized content" This may do the trick since it's a different type of factory reset from the one in the bootloader. If that doesn't help, the only other thing to do is to take it to the factory.
