Any possible way to recover from "System software not authorized by AT&T?" - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Any possible way to recover from "System software not authorized by AT&T?"
I have an S7 Edge SM-G935A on Nougat 7.0.0 and rooted, and I was having trouble with connections in apps detecting root. I searched for solutions online, and found Magisk could help mask root from apps. I foolishly tried installing it on my phone without reading about the prerequisites and after turning off my phone, I get the message "System software not authorized by AT&T has been found on your phone." The only way I know right now to fix it is to do a complete stock flash, but I didn't want to resort to that just yet, wondering if there was some other way to remove Magisk, bypass the message, or recover my data (photos & contacts) before I did so?

How did you by pass the connection error due to root? I am running into the same thing and Magisk just causes the same unauthorized message from AT&T (I reflash with boot img and fix it but I need to hide my root to access to app)

Completely bricked. BL unlocked, TWRP installed. Won't boot

Thought I was good at this. Never mind.
So I have managed to brick my device after 6 hours of having it.
Managed to unlock the BL, install TWRP, but the OS has gone, and I have no way of getting the thing mounted to copy over a ROM or anything.
What's the best way for me to sort this out ?
I'm thinking I could buy an SD card, copy a ROM to it, then flash it via TWRP.
Is this the only option ?

If you can get to the bootloader then just use the restore to stock tool from shawn5162. Should work fine as long as you have successfully unlocked the bootloader. Here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-style/development/windows-tool-moto-x-style-pure-edition-t3199905
Should be clear that this will put your device to LP 5.1.1 without root or TWRP. Then just do the OTA MM update and re-root and flash TWRP. You can follow this guide I created if you like.

I have never had such issues when setting up a phone before. Now I have this message
"there's a problem signing in to your google account on this device
Please sign in from a browser on your computer or tablet first, then try signing in again on this device"
Needless to say, I've done this numerous times, and I still cannot sign in on the phone.

Ouch...Thats a security feature on MM... Only way ive found to avoid it is to restore a backup and before you wipe/flash your next ROM either disable the lockscreen(i.e. unsecured lockscreen), re-enable OEM unlocking, or factory reset your device from it from your running phone(not in TWRP) through settings->Backup and reset...that removes your google account from your phone so once you reset it you can set your phone up with your google account

Think I'm screwed. No backup. No ability to log into the OS to reset from within. Just keeps looping on the input screen.
I think I read somewhere that if you wait 72 hours it fixes itself. We'll see.

hmmm thats weird... the new security feature wasn't implemented until MM... The restore to stock should take you to 5.1.1. not sure what else to try. Hopefully you can get in after the wait...next time you get your phone running make a backup to save a headache down the road
edit: you couldnt use the restore to stock then before it loads flash a 5.1 ROM?

Its the stock TWRP backup from either 5.1.1 or 6.0....whichever you are currently supposed to be on.
wait, if this is a new phone and you had added your google account before "bricking," why cant you just sign in using that google account. My understanding is that the lockout is to prevent a NEW google account that was not associated with your phone from being used to set it up

That error means you don't have a 72 hour lock yet. Go to https://accounts.google.com/b/0/displayunlockcaptcha on your computer. Login, hit the accept button, then try logging in your phone. Your phone is not locked out, just to to the website. If you changed your password, though, then you shot yourself in the foot with the Google protection.

Urgent help needed. Locked out of phone.

I was poking security options within my phone, and I accidentally locked it with a pattern that I cannot recall.
I tried looking for troubleshooting guides, but unfortunately Marshmallow no longer has a "forgot code?" option. Also, I tried Android Device Manager, but it tells me since my phone already has a lockscreen, I no longer need to add a password (which I intended to do, in order to know said password)
I would greatly appreciate any help, since I really don't want to factory reset, since I got lots of pics I don't want to lose.

Unfortunately, my phone is stock and non rooted, but luckily I could guess the pattern.
I still would like to know for future reference, since Android Device Manager did a great job at getting my phone's location and making it ring... just not unlocking it!!

He wouldn't have been able to use it because you need a custom recovery to flash that file.
Well... I guess you know the system works? Probably not great for there to be an easy or sure-fire way to unlock a phone if you don't know the security details.
If it's just data you need, recovery mode should allow you to copy it off the device via USB (if you didnt encrypt the device). Getting into a phone you really locked yourself out of is probably not possible.

For preventative measures, Tasker is your friend. Have a "Plan B" microSD with a special .txt file on it, and have Tasker detect SD inserted and scan that file. If the file matches, then Tasker should wipe /data/system/gesture.key and password.key, and sqlite3 into settings.db and "update system set value=0 where name='lock_pattern_autolock' " to unlock your device.
In the case of an aftermath, it is now (as of today) possible to recover files/photos from the lockscreen without root, ADB, or custom recovery. Just an internet connection, linked Google account, and access to the notification drawer. I just published my first app, Locked-out Phone Backup, that is similar to the old Screen Lock Bypass Pro for Gingerbread, but instead recovers files instead of disabling the screen lock, so no root is required!
Hope this answers your question!
Well, try some password remover.

Bricked?

Hi,
I have the OnePlus 5 8GB.
I unlocked my bootload, rooted my phone, all good.
But then I realized android pay is not working with rooted phones, so i wanted to undo it.
for some reason i ran this because i found it in a guide to lock the bootloader again (yes, it was was stupid):
./fastboot flashing lock
After that i got the message that my device is corrupt and cant boot. So i ran ./fastboot oem unlock and that message disappeard.
I tried booting, but nothing happend for 10 minutes, still boot animation. so i went into fastboot, flashed twrp and tried doing a factory reset, but whatever i do, I get tons of these error messages:
Updating partition details...
Error opening: '/data/misc/[...]
Error opening: '/data/user_de/0/[...['
(No such file or directory)
What can I do?
I can even ADB sideload because of those errors.
edit:
also it shows nothing for bootloader version or baseband version in the fastboot screen.
https://imgur.com/a/z2KN3
doesnt look good. cant copy anything to device or from device
Might have to RMA the phone. I'm not sure I've seen anyone unbrick a phone after locking the bootloader with a custom recovery still installed. I hope someone knows of a way. Good luck bro.
Also, of you get it working, use Magisk, it allows Android pay to work while rooted

Since it's obvious someone tampered with the software, they may reject it.
You don't lose warranty if you root, but they won't cover the cost if anything happens to it due to the user's intervention.
If you manage to get the stock ROM onto the phone, you may be able to flash it from TWRP.

i know there are a few ways to root the S10+, now we are a half year futher and my question is; what is the easiest way to root the S10+???? because i can't get it done.....
Dont rkot you will regret it
Hi, you can root only if you own an Exynos model, check this first...
The easiest way is to root with magisk without twrp in my opinion, all instructions are in S10 Rom thread, it is the same for S10+. Remember that it will trip KNOX and you will not be able to use Samsung pay, all other apps as far as i know you can get work properly. For me SPay was not relevant, because it is not working in my country.
I have rooted my phone a month ago, installed AdAway and AfWall, some addition open sourse apps and i am totally happy with it=)

I am stuck on canary Magisk not allowing me to patch the standard AP file I loaded onto my phone. It constantly spins "Checking for updates" and never lets me go to install and then patch the AP. Issues rooting
Hey guys,
I am having issues rooting an S10 +, I used the guide to patch the AP file using magisk and then flashed it using odin, followed the rest of the guide to the letter.
Then once the device finally booted, it showed me the set up screen, then we back to the Samsung splash screen and had a a warning in red across the top of the screen that said "Only official binarys are allowed" and just kept on boot looping.
I then flashed the stock rom using odin, I have used the same process on an S10 without any issues.
Does anyone know where I may have gone wrong ?

When you follow those instructions perfectly, you get the result shown in the photo. This is directly after rebooting from recovery after factory resetting.
What is not specified in the video that may or may not help:
Odin version
Android version
Magisk version (i can see 7.3 if i remember)
What, if any of these variables make a difference?
I've tried this on Android 9 and 10
I used Odin3_v3.14.4 and Magisk 7.5.1
Perhaps you meant to show the video of an actual A20M being successfully rooted this way. The generic modern A model method does not apply.
Posting this link is only going to make people fail. It should be removed as it does not work. I'd really like you to correct me. Maybe everyone is not using proper odin version (the one that passes) or Magisk.

No. I am not overly disappointed. Apart from no vibration on the keyboard, Samsung has done most of the work already. Screen size is decent, no bixby or even a flipboard to the left. Most of the stuff this phone has been denied i never use. I miss good lock and some key root apps like viper and battery charge limit.
I've no idea not what unlocking the bootloader does other than a warning and no OTA. Perhaps some of us need to learn how to do this instead of waiting. There's plenty of knowledge here and maybe most of the work with the A205 can help. Get brickin'!
