[Q] Phone vibration on screen lock/screen off - OnePlus 5 Questions & Answers

How can I turn this off? It's driving me crazy. It does like a double vibrate very time the screen times out or I hit the power button to turn it off...

I've got the same issue with vibrations. When I disabled notifications for Light Flow it stopped.
Contacted the support for Light Flow and got this answer:
Hi
I'm aware of this from other users and so yesterday I ordered a oneplus 5 to specifically look into this. It should be delivered early next week and I'll then be seeing what I can do.
Cheers, Andrew

Thanks, lets update this thread when we get a better answer. Subscribed

Subscribed. Having this problem as well with Light Flow. Hopefully he can figure it out! Would also be really nice if he could figure out how to control the blink rate as it doesn't seem to make a difference what the rate setting is in Light Flow.
This issue happens during a call too with the proximity sensor leaves the ear enough to turn the screen on/off.
Will you please keep us up to date if you have further communications with the developer of Light Flow and hopefully pass on the feedback on blink rate?

Update available, fixed the problem ?

It did fix it , if we could only get rid of the notification in the pull down...

Fixed it for me as well. I'm not too worried about the notification but I'd sure like to see the flash rate work!

True , flash rate hasn't work for me on OnePluses for a while now

Does repeating sounds or repeating vibrations work for you?
Led works fine but those 2 not.

Question about LED indicator..other random thoughts.

LOVE the phone btw.. and T-Mobile? i was worried it would suck... but wow it's better then ATT's 3G.. i get 12 Mb's down and 2 up where i live! that's NOT BAD considering where i live!
ok on to the purpose...
i left my phone out last night b/c i wanted to see how it "drained" being idle over night.. it didn't at all! except.. the one thing i noticed was the LED indicator was a SOLID light b/c i had notificatons waiting... i mean.. is there any way to more powerfully configure this? like maybe only have it blink for 30 minutes then STOP.. i feel like the light will DIE over time if i have more nights like that? is it possible for the light to eventually die?
---Other thoughts
Everything about the phone i love.. except maybe the home button, not sure how i feel about it being a clicky button.. but that's just an early thought
I used to use light flow all the time for that on the galaxy nexus should work on this too

No, not in any reasonable time frame. Conservatively, I'd say you can expect the light will last twenty years.

Nexus 4 dim notification LED?

Hey there, got my N4 this morning, its a good upgrade from the GNexus. I haven't had any problems so far, besides the GMail not syncing and the lack of a LED notification light. Or so I thought at first, its actually on, but incredibly dim, so I didn't even notice.
Is this just me?

It appears to just be you, my notification LED is rather bright, actually. Have you tried tweaking it with a third party app from the Play Store?
Its dim in comparison to the Samsung LED for example the LED on my Note 2 is a lot brighter and more vivid

Thanks for the replies. Its very dim, even when I tried using Light Flow. I haven't installed any other app that may interfere with it.
In addition, my GMail syncs really slow.
I'm currently re-flashing the stock rom and maybe it'll be fixed.
Thanks

No your not the only one.. Did flashing the stock ROM help you?..
I notice mines is dim compared to my gnex
Its dim and it blinks unbelievably slow. I dont understand what they were thinking. Notification lights should be bright and obnoxious to.... notify you.
Has anyone found a fix for this yet? The notification light on mine only blinks once then stops. How is this suppose to notify me if I missed a message if it only flashes once and is extremly dim. The Samsung Led light are are way better. Is there going to be a patch for this problem?
Hello fellow RFDer - to the OP
I used light flow with the custom flashing rate, set at 1000/1000 (so 1 second flashes with 1 second gaps) and it seems to work well. Setting any of the other settings (slow - fast) didn't make a difference. I really can't wait for CM where all these items are built in and we dont have to mess with 3rd party apps.
It worked for a while yesterday, now it stopped working. I've since installed Light Flow with no luck, have Light Manager right now (all free so far), but still without success. I've always been a Blackberry person and had a GNexus before, so I'd be lying if I said I wasn't spoiled with a working light.

Agreed, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread to see if anyone has any recommendations.
Same thing for me, notification light worked fine the first day, then I rooted the phone and now it's very dim. LightFlow did not improve anything.

Hmmm I noticed my light is super dim as well just like the pictures on the first page. Unlocked and rooted it before I got a notification though.

Agreed it's dim.
The LED appears to be under the plastic in the bezel rather than displayed through a hole cut through it. Not sure adjusting brightness at the software level will have much of an impact.
My led is dim as well
Mine is dim and glows really slow! Using Light Flow now, but still not as bright as the one in GNex.
Hi all,
I have a similar issue:
My LED light flashes only when I get notifications relating to Facebook & Whatsapp.
It does not work for missed calls, Gmail messages, text messages or while charging!
I had installed Lightflow and it was a little buggy, but I think, the LED notification should still work for all types of notifications?
I have also factory reset the phone and have the pulse notification option under the display menu turned on, but still no success.
Any help/replies will be much appreciated.
I have no issues with using light flow.

Thanks mate, how about without light flow? Does lightflow drain a lot of battery?

Light Flow only drains battery when you leave a notification unchecked for long periods of time (i.e. the notification LED flashes for long periods of time). Naturally, the longer the LED flashes, the longer the wakelock.
In normal use, the battery hit is negligible (in my opinion).

[Q] 'Keep Screen Dark' option not working

Take a look at the attached screenshots. I have enabled the 'Keep Screen Dark' from 11pm to 6am option in Moto Display Settings. I assume it means that the screen wont come on when I approach it between 11pm and 6am. But I still find the screen waking up whenever my hand goes near it. Is this a fault in the phone?
My phone is completely stock and bootloader is locked running Marshmallow.

I believe that only keeps the screen dark when a notification comes in.

True this.
Got it.

Do you use ambient display?

So guys, was wondering if you use ambient display and if you do have you done tests for the difference in battery life?
I use it, the amount of battery that it uses is negligible.
Never works for me. Always turns on in the dark when laid on table idle. Never bothered to look into fixing because it's not a necessity for me.
Don't use or require for my usage...
I have it switched on, but it really doesn't matter, once I pick the phone up, I switch it on.
It drains a lot
Does it? How much?

No it really doesn't.
I use it. Battery drain is very low. Anyway I wish it was more accurate. The screen turn on every time I put it on the table and sometimes when I take it, it should be the opposed.
I feel with native notification light, ambient display is kinda redundant.

Hmm interesting I've been going on a little bit of a wake lock crackdown lately and ambient display adds another wake lock....... Didn't know if it would destroy battery....... Haha

In my usage in a 12 hour period, my phone is only awake for less than half an hour when I'm not actually using it.
I don't. I find it annoying personally. I like setting the brightness manually via the drop down menu to exactly where I want it when I need to.

I think you're thinking of adaptive brightness, not ambient display, two different things.
Nope. I found it comes on way too often, whether I pick the phone up or not. I use double tap to wake, so I just double tap the screen when I need it on

LOL yes.....thank you H!
I do use ambient display. I find it a very simple yet extremely convenient feature.
I would if it worked properly. It's just so inconsistent. Sometimes I pick it up and nothing. Other times it works. Just very inconsistent.

100% agree. It would be a great feature, if it actually worked as intended. But since it's so inconsistent it's more of just an annoying gimmick. I turn Ambient Display off first thing whenever I flash a new ROM.
It's a shame to see that Ambient Display isn't working for some people, it works perfectly for me, every time. I receive a notification, it triggers. I pick my phone up into an upright position, it triggers.

How are you guys handling ambient display and notifications?

Since there is no LED light for notification what are you guys doing?
I have it currently set to wake for new notifications and tap to show notifications. I am hoping this isn't a battery killer?

Miniscule as far as I've noticed so far.
I use Edge Lighting for notifications and Pixel Plus for lock screen notifications
