Not yet

I should have been aware of this when i was purchasing hoping they will sometime soon.

Unfortunately only the European G6 H870.
Gesendet von meinem LG-D802 mit Tapatalk

I recently bought an H870DS version (though the title was said to be H870). I should have done more digging as well. That said, I have spotted some other tutorials and videos here and there that range in promises. Some claim to guide someone through a process of rooting models sold in the US under T-Mobile and others claim to be able to do it on the H870DS.
As I am just beginning to make my iPhone transition to Android, I am cautious when venturing out of the Walled Garden -- especially since most Android devices have no Secure Enclave present to realistically protect certain permissions.
What I would like to know is if LG -- or XDA -- has a history of obtaining root on devices in a situation synonymous with the LG G6 H870 and H870DS. How likely is one to eventually be able to root the device and install custom ROMs or help with Android Development on the H870DS?

You go get a Nexus or Pixel device haha
heres hoping the Dual Sim version will get the bootloader unlock soon. I miss my Nexus6P and I got a good deal on the G6... i don't regret it, this slimmer and smaller phone is a bit easier to use.

Please ask LG développer to get unlock by their email available on their website.

I decided to return the H870DS and got a OnePlus 5 128GB instead. I love it. Great upgrade from an iPhone 6 16GB. Seems like they generally do well with Custom ROMs.

Were other LG phones (Korean versions) bootloader-unlockable after some time or is it that LG dont want unlocked phones in their country?

Did anyone test the one-click-root from search4roots.com?
google took me there, but until now I hadn't had a chance testing it

It will be possible if anyone open a bounty thread just like v20 dual sim edition.

A little late to the party on this one, LG released a few of its sources for the G2, we already have custom kernel development that just started brewing here lately.
As far as the bootloader, this device has a work around using Loki and it works fine. As evidence points that we can flash pretty much anything worth flashing including custom kernels.

thx i just wanted to know how the overall situation is. cause htc makes it a little difficult to unlock bootloader via htc dev website and there is no s-off . is there s-off on the g2?
with samsung its another story with odin and there are other problems.
i want to get an overall picture for the different manufacturers

What I would tell you personally is dont delay, carriers will likely be pushing security patches to keep out hackers and make it very difficult for devs to work around in the near future.
No need to worry about s-off, its never been discussed here which tells me it must not exits on this device. I have seen it on almost all HTC devices though.

thx. i guess thats just ridiculous. i want steady updates for a year or so as i switch to a new phone after a year. the last year was just horrible on my htc onex+ with so little development and s-on
the carriers would not bother me as im on a contact free carrier, the problem is development is affected. and this is something i have on every phone i buy.
im vacillating between nexus 5 and g2 now

It most likely will be lock down. The loki exploit that was used to root the G2 was patched with android 4.4.

Being on a ATT One X I'm out of the loop has any exploit been found for 4.4? Or will we be in the same boat as the GS5 guys? How is the M8 doing?

No exploit has been found for 4.4 so as far as I know, we will be in the same situation that we are in the S5.
HTC is a different story cause they provide a method to unlock the bootloader via HTC dev.

I'm so hoping AT&T gets the G3 (and hoping even more the bootloader is unlocked).. I have the LG OG Pro, and LOVE it, but ready for something newer.. Would have got the G2, but the lack of a SD card slot turned me away from it.. Just hope we get lucky! :fingers-crossed:

I love my OG Pro...like looove it, but when ATT offered me an early upgrade (1 year early) on my line, I opted for the S5...not knowing that it was bootloader locked.
Depending on the info released today and when it comes available, I may be returning my GS5 for the G3. Because you know... LG > Samsung in my book. (Even though I had both Note and Note 2)

G3 is coming to all of the big 4. There's no chance in hell it will come with bootloader unlocked when getting the device through the carrier. If you want an unlocked bootloader, but it from 3rd party reseller or hope for a new exploit.

You guys might be real happy about this, I just read this article, where they did a benchmark with an International version the LG-F400S LG G3 variant which apparently works on AT&T's LTE network. My guess while not only does an International version work on AT&T which is amazing news, but chances are, wouldn't that also mean that the device in theory would also be factory Unlocked?!? :good:
Here's the article.

You might also consider the G2, spec wise very similar to the S5, but can be rooted easily and custom recovery installed (not T-Mobile) without having to downgrade the OS from Kit Kat first. The first step requires a computer using IOROOT25, which roots the phone, the an app that installs on the phone called Autorec, installs recovery. Easy as pie. I hope the G3 will be just as easy.

I looked into getting the G2 before I decided on my Optimus G Pro, but the lack of an SD slot instantly turned me away.. I've rooted many phones and installed more roms and kernels than I can count.. I'm studying development right now trying to get the hang of it so I can develop roms/kernels etc.. Thanks for your input!
I need a new phone bad and the LG G3 has everything I want. Sleek design, Wireless Charging, Removable battery, etc. If ATT locks down the bootloader, I'll be looking elsewhere.
I walked into an ATT store the other day and said I'm looking for a new phone. He said everyone really likes the GS5. I rolled my eyes and said no thanks. He had a puzzled look on his face and then I told him I'm not buying a bootloader locked phone. He just mumbled, "uh ya" and walked away. I walked out.
I was going to wait for the nexus 6 but that is dead now.
Looks like HTC is the only option these days for root and custom roms unless you go Oppo or One Plus One.

The problem is having to pay full price for the phone. Yes, I know contracts end up being more expensive, but not everyone has about $700 in their pocket to drop on a phone.
I was thinking of picking up one of the Korean version on ebay. How can I know for sure that I will get 4g on AT&T?

Root needed

So lets get an head start on the ROOT for LG G5 ATT. I have started working on it and any help I can get will be appreciated.
I've been poking around a bit, but the thought of needing another kernel for root of marshmallow is kinda out if my knowledge. Main step is to find a way around the boot loader.

The H830 is the T-Mobile variant. Those files are for the T-Mobile variant as well. If you did this on our AT&T H820, it'd brick the phone. Do NOT attempt this.

I doubt the AT&T G5 will be getting root anytime soon, or at all. The S7 Edge now has root for AT&T, get that phone. Much better phone anyways IMO with it's bright, beautiful Super AMOLED display.
I already pulled the trigger on the G5... Got it today. My Note 4 has ruined me for Samsung. My LG G3 outperformed the Note 4 in every way except taking pictures despite the Note having 'better hardware' and being newer.
Since it's dead in the G5 forums and S7 has root, devs, and roms, I think i'm going to [sadly] trade.

LGH 870. Thread.

Hello friends the models of Tmobile, Sprint and Verizon have her thread.
First question.
Wben will be avaiable unlock boot loader in the web of LG ?
How root and twrp when is avaiable.....
Come on friends.
[emoji3]
Enviado desde mi LG-H870 mediante Tapatalk
Nobody knows -- the good folks on XDA will undoubtedly be the first to crack the problem, but it's not trivial finding a new exploit. Patience is a virtue we all need to practice [emoji3]
No new exploit is needed for H870. Only patience until LG adds the device to the supported unlock devices. The aboot of H870 already contains the commands to unlock it, we only need official unlock.bin form LG.
From there it should be relatively easy to get twrp running.
Edit: also i think this thread belongs to "LG G6 Guides, News, & Discussion"

King Root? Don't make me laugh.
When's the last time some 1-click root like that ever worked? 5 or 6 years ago? And even then it was malware infested. Current versions certainly are. There's a reason to don't see that crap on XDA.
If you installed it on your V35 you need to completely reset your phone, really freshly reflash KDZ via Refurbish mode.

The shop in China where I got my V30+ sells V35 with root. They gave me my V30 rooted as well. I did the TWRP myself. The V35 is really cheap and was even considering one. They're like 140 USD for 98% new.
Are you saying there is no root or if the phone is rooted, it'll be malware infested?

I'm saying any branded 1-click solution like "King Root" don't work on any recent (past 4 or 5 years) LG phones and are malware infested. Why are they lying? Because they want you to install their adware/Malware -- and you still won't have root.
But you won't think to flash full KDZ via Refurbish mode to clean you phone.
That's the reason you see all those websites falsely telling you that you can root using the files they entice you to download and install.

Yes you can buy already-rooted V35 from China.

The best way to root your v35 is to ask someone in the Telegram forum to do it for you remotely. I recommend @vbenkovskyy. Your other option is to lay out some cash for an Octoplus setup.

You find someone in another country who remotes in to your computer and does some stuff, while your phone is connected. You pay them money.
In Discussion sections like this, XDA does not allow advertising or referrals in posts for paid services like that. They prefer devs create procedures and share so others not only can do it themselves but can improve on it. XDA allows donations to Devs, but they can't charge money in advance.
There are Advertising sections on XDA, but not here.
The other way is to buy already-rooted V35 from China. But it won't be new.
Hey @ChazzMatt,
Thank you for the response covering xda policies.
The situation with the v35 is tricky. It seems prospects for a do-it-yourself, free-of-charge unlock are fading with each passing day. LG and QC have foiled some skilled devs. The v35 is even immune to the recently reported CVE2019-2215 exploit, too. Thankfully, there are other means to free this awesome piece of hadware. Sadly, they are less than perfect. Have you unlocked your v35?

LG and QC have foiled some skilled devs. The v35 is even immune to the recently reported CVE2019-2215 exploit, too. Thankfully, there are other means to free this awesome piece of hadware. Sadly, they are less than perfect. Have you unlocked your v35?

No, I haven't. My rooted stock firmware V30+ (with Magisk and Xposed mods) is still my daily phone and I have a backup V30+ also.
My V35 was bought from XDA member who had SIM card unlocked it and flashed it to NAO firmware. Mint condition. I've not updated to Pie yet.
I know there was V35 TWRP floating around somewhere but not sure it worked with Pie? If I have root, I would like TWRP.
The 2nd V35 I bought was brand new in box AT&T V35, for my sister. SIM card unlocked but still AT&T firmware, as she's AT&T customer and wants Wi-Fi calling and VoLTE. Finally gave it to her last weekend.
Do you have links to rooted v35s sold in China? Better yet, a working TWRP for V35? I have a rooted V35 with no TWRP and gives a system warning or error message upon boot.
Thanks
